@Nlife: Please test and explain the „Online License“ system, I still don’t get it.
Do you activate it for the specific console or for the account?
What happens if you have a VGC injected and running with a Switch which is online, and then you start the game from another Switch via „Online License“? Will the Switch with the VGC shut down the game?
Hogwarts and FC have great Switch sales numbers. With NS2 becoming more „mainstream gaming“ than the previous systems, I see that third -party games will become more important for Nintendo, both from a strategic and financial perspective.
I want to praise Nintendo here: Most PS5 games could be played with a standard PS4 DualShock controller, but Sony doesn’t allow this and forces the PS5 owners to buy new, expensive PS5 DualSense controllers.
NS2 accepts all NS1 controllers. This puts the prices for NS2 and PS5 for owners of the previous systems into perspective.
Here in Germany it was so easy to order my NS2 at Mediamarkt online, I hadn’t to hurry at all. I must admit, now Mediamarkt stopped the preorder process.
@SillyG Yes, this mouse would be recognised as a standard right NS2 Joy-Con, which is „always detached“. Unfortunately, you can’t use a standard Bluetooth or USB mouse, because it lacks the four face buttons you will certainly need for most games (MP4 needs them).
I‘m getting rude here: As long as I read comments like „My backlog (aka pile of shame) is so huge“ and „My copy is still sitting untouched on my shelf, perhaps I will try it next weekend“, 80 bucks/quids/whatever doesn’t seem to be an unreasonable price to me. Like many people, I have more money than free time playing video games.
@TrueBlueYoshi VRR presents the framerate on the screen in which it is rendered in the computer/console, and especially also odd framerates.
So if your game is rendered in e.g. 40 fps and displayed on a standard 60 Hz screen without VRR, the screen will show two new picures and a pause, two new pictures and a pause, … It visibly stutters!
With VRR, this display can‘t only show 60 Hz, but (in theory, simplified) all lower values, and this highly dynamically. Therefore no pauses: It doesn’t stutter.
This technology is especially useful for a device like NS2 with its limited performance compared to the upcoming big PS5 ports, because it makes playing these games much less of a pain in sections with bad framerates (< 30 fps).
@Discostew Fully agree to your description! The HDMI chip has not enough bandwidth, and HDMI VRR is not implemented yet (while the internal display uses Nvidia‘s superior G-Sync).
In the end, it will be a solution like „HDMI 2.1 feature set, but not fulfilling the minimal 2.1 bandwidth“.
The GameCube was the last no-gimmick console from Nintendo. And while it wasn’t a huge success commercial-wise, some of its games were crucial for today’s Nintendo‘s identity: Smash Melee, Pikmin, Luigi‘s Mansion, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing.
It‘s the games that define the identity, not gimmicky controls and displays!
And Sony lost the connection to its PS1/PS2 legacy, because it transformed SCE to SIE, from a Japanese company with (sometimes quirky) Japanese games to a California-based „Sad Dad and Live Service Games“ company.
In 1999, I bought Ocarina of Time for 119 DM, which is 60.84 EUR. With the inflation in Germany between 1999 and today, this resembles a today’s price of 98.70 EUR.
70 EUR is reasonable! (Even if it’s no Ocarina of Time)
@CheapCheepBeach Nobody stops you from buying an Xbox Series S instead. It seems that Nintendo is doing something much better, and therefore you pay for it.
@RupeeClock With the „NS1 docked mode with NS2 handheld“: Nintendo would probably solve this with a whitelist. Only tested and appeoved games would run with the enhanced resolution. And games like Pokemon Let’s Go will just not be included!
How will Switch 2 present NS1 games? With improved performance? In handheld mode, will it run selected NS1 games in their docked mode to increase the resolution to 1080p?
Totally understandable. There is no free lunch, and I‘d rather have the computational power for the running game. The shown solution serves the purpose.
Establishing a cartridge manufacturing in the US should be pretty easy, by moving exististing equipment. NoA will certainly find an empty Microsoft hall in Bellevue for that.
I‘d rather get a shiny Wind Waker HD Switch 2 Edition with nice HDR clouds and crisp 4k60. Fishing for the 8 Triforce chests was not great back in the day, and I guess it didn’t age well.
@ChaoticIgnorance I don’t think that you are really ignorant. When I travel by train and don’t want to disturb the others, turning off rumble goes without saying.
The volume of the Joy-Con 2 controllers' force feedback vibrations has been reduced compared to the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers, so it may be more difficult to find hidden Joy-Con 2 in the minigame Joy-Con Hide & Seek.“
@SGE2000 That‘s the big question here! Probably because Nintendo is extremely popular in France and Italy (correct me if I’m wrong). High demand = high prices. Same with PlayStation, while you get an Xbox for a laughable low price.
There were rumors about this game for at least two years. And they always said that it is under development by the EAD Tokyo team, which is responsible for 3D Mario.
It‘s no coincidence that the Switch 2 has got the upper USB-C port. Recharging with a standard low-power charger while sitting on the sofa will be a new habit.
This pricing was the dumpest way of p*ssing off the fans. Maybe Nintendo should reconsider and change their decision and make this „game“ for free before release
This is practically the end for real physical games from other publishers:
The prices for the new cartridges are probably extremely high! And publishers won’t offer the physical version for 80 EUR and the digital only for 60 EUR, this gap would be too huge.

Re: Nintendo Won't Have Enough Switch 2 Consoles To Satisfy Demand In Japan
Nintendo made the Japan-only version too cheap, 50k Yen are only 310 EUR. The international version costs 70k = 430 EUR.
Nintendo should have offered the Japan-only version as a Mario Kart bundle for 65k, this would have created a demand which fits to the actual supply.

Re: Gallery: Here's A Sneak Peek Of The Nintendo Switch Online App For Switch 2
@Nlife: Please be careful with the wording.
„Nintendo Switch Online App“
is still the smartphone app for me, even though it‘ll be renamed to „Nintendo Switch App“ with the NS2 launch.
To avoid confusion, please use a more distinct name without the confusing „app“,
„NSO menu“ or something.
Edit: Also the term „Switch Online retro game“ could be avoided, the new name is „Nintendo Classics“.
