Re: WWE 2K25 Appears To Be Teasing A Switch 2 Announcement

Wrestling games were a key part of the N64 library back in the day, easy to access. Such a mindless and great couch coop experience!

Nintendo Life should do a special of wrestling games on Nintendo platforms. In a gaming world where many rediscover the old joys of couch coop, it could be the right moment for wrestling games to return in their old glory!

Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells

I think the blue shell is needed. Otherwise the no 1 could get ahead too much without correction, while the rest of the field can‘t catch up due to fighting each other.

And now you can also use the feather to avoid the shell (but I couldn’t achieve it yet).

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

I‘m happy that many addressed issues can still potentially be solved or mitigated by system updates:

  • Display overdrive (?)
  • 4k with 120 Hz
  • VRR down to 20 Hz
  • VRR support for TVs
  • Easier method for handling virtual game cards

Additionally, I want higher clocks for docked play:

  • Higher CPU clocks, e.g. those of handheld mode
  • Higher GPU clocks -> The AC adaptor has lots of reserves left, and the fans are surprisingly quiet. 10 W higher power draw could result in dramatically better results.

Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong

„EPD“ is imprecise in this context. It is the business division which is home of all internal studios, while acquired studios like Monolith and Retro are managed in a slightly different way.

Here we are talking about EPD production group 8, or simply EPD Tokyo, because it’s the only internal development studio located in Tokyo, while all other studios are located in Kyoto.

And EPD Tokyo is the 3D Mario team.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Cyberpunk 2077 Tech Review On Switch 2

This fanboyism here is horrible. Of course DF compares Switch 2 with the PS4, because they are in the same ballpark performancewise. As the testings show, maybe the PS4 Pro would be a better comparison because of its higher CPU performance, while the base PS4 struggles to hold 30 fps where it’s no problem for the Switch 2. And except for the higher texture quality and faster loading speeds of the NS2, overall image quality could also be quite similar.

DF is NOT anti-Nintendo! It’s quite the opposite, they adore Switch (2) games of Nintendo or thirds which punch above their weight, like Luigi‘s Mansion 3, Ori and the Will of the Whisps, and Metroid Prime Remastered. And they emphasise where devs bit more than they (or the poor Switch) could chew.

Re: Publishers Are "Thanking" Nintendo For Game-Key Cards On Switch 2

>> Nintendo should "take preservation a little more seriously". <<

Should they shut down the eShop and force every other publisher towards full games on cartridges? So basically back to the good ol‘ days of Gamecube and DS Lite? This won’t happen!

Customers want third-party games on Switch, so Nintendo must please these publishers. And with the four options of distribution (full cartridge, game-key, code in a box, eShop), Nintendo is exactly doing that.

Re: Video: Check Out New Direct-Feed Gameplay Of Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2

@Varkster Look, I‘m not that clever. I see a video of footage which reminds me a lot of the PS4 version of the game. This may be unfair, because the NS2 will deliver better better anti-aliasing, a 40 fps performance mode and the DLC of course. And a video of the Xbox Series S version could look different to that video, with 60 fps.

Nobody expects a 40 W (?) console with small handheld cooling to perform like a 160 W console, at least not me. And that’s fine. I still don’t expect miracles, and I can’t see them here. The Emporer is naked.

Re: Video: Check Out New Direct-Feed Gameplay Of Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2

Max_the_German

@Varkster I still don’t see that the NS2 version would be leaps and bounds better than the PS4 one:

  • Similar framerate (30 fps with frequent drops)
  • Comparable resolution (900p-1080p on PS4, 540p with a simplified NS2 version of DLSS Performance Mode)
  • Is the NS2 lighting model really better?

The NS2 version is probably not the final one, so there can be improvements to come. And they say it provides an 40 fps performance mode, which would be a huge win. But my statement was related to what I saw in the video.
