Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Expansion Coming 2026, Hollow Knight: Switch 2 Edition Also Announced

KingChiliPepper

Always cool to see free DLC, I'm sure this will be beautiful, but I dread to think how hard it's gonna be. I've been playing Silksong on and off since launch, currently stuck in act 2, beating my head against several challenges. If I ever finish this game, I don't think I'll be able to stomach any DLC. 😭

I respect Silksong immensely, and there have been some great moments, but, man, this game has been so punishing. Hard to say I've enjoyed playing it overall. I wish there was a more manageable way to experience this gorgeous game without losing my mind (and all my rosaries for the hundredth time).

Re: "My Staff Have Had Customers Threatening To Rip Their Heads Off" - Retailers And Collectors Tell Of Pokémon TCG Woes

KingChiliPepper

My partner has been into collecting Pokémon cards for the past couple of years. It's been so sad to watch it go from casually picking up packs in stores to no point even trying because they last about 5 mins on shelves. It'd be nice to get her some packs for Christmas, but it seems impossible, unless you're in the right place at the right time.

I tried getting into playing the TCG so we could do it together, but even the pre-constructed decks were getting scalped because they started putting illustration rare promos in them.

Humans ruin nice things. Every collectable hobby turns to *****, look at the retro gaming market. Hopefully the hype around these will die off or supply will catch up with demand and parents can get packs for their kids again.

Btw, the Guardian article about this is really good, worth a click (then come right back to Nintendo Life of course).

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The New Kirby Air Riders amiibo?

KingChiliPepper

Amiibo is the one bit of tat I allow myself to collect. Not sure how it started but I have lots now. I'd like to pick up some of these, they're pretty neat. But yes, expensive, I'm skint and Christmas is approaching. Perhaps someday when I'm having an unwise moment I'll pop a few in my basket. Chef Kawasaki calls out to me...

Re: Poll: Did You Get A Switch 2 Purchase Invite From Nintendo Yet? (Europe)

KingChiliPepper

I was worried I wouldn't get an invite so pre-ordered elsewhere. But I desperately wanted a GameCube controller so I was pleased to have an invite come through today so I could secure one.

Anyone else pre-order the Switch 2 camera? I see a lot of accessory talk in these comments but no camera love. For some reason I'm really excited by the possibilities it presents, not for game chat (meh), but for some goofy Nintendo games built around it. Might just be Playstation Eye Toy nostalgia, but I'd love a Wario Ware with camera based mini games.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

KingChiliPepper

Steam Deck looks like a great device if it suits your needs.

Personally, I'm happy sticking to my PC for Steam gaming. I have a Switch, PS5 and Series S, so I generally just use my PC for games that would benefit from a keyboard and mouse (strategy titles, certain RPGs and draggy/droppy card games). The little track pad thing on this looks like an absolute nightmare to me.

I've got my bases covered, no fat Game Gear for me.

Also, yeah, but can it play Zelda?

Re: Metroid Dread Producer Hopes Fans Look Forward To "Future Episodes" Once The Current Story Arc Concludes

KingChiliPepper

It's baffling to me how many of you guys in the comments put so much value on the amount of time you get out of a game. Each to their own, of course, but I just don't consider that at all when I buy a game.

I guess it's because I'm not one for putting hundreds of hours into anything. I want to finish a game, enjoy it, then move on to the next thing. I'm too susceptible to hype not to.

I'm more interested in if a game is going to give me a quality experience. If I enjoy a game, that's enough for me, whether it lasted 10 or 100 hours doesn't affect me. In fact, with my busy life, I'd rather a game was shorter.

Genuine question: would you hold a movie to the same standard? Would you pay more for a 2-3 hour Marvel epic than a 90 minute acclaimed drama? Because less budget and production time went into the latter film, is that lesser and therefore not worth a standard ticket price?

Anyway, when it comes to Metroid, I can tell you I've had far more mileage out of the 2D games than I have any of the Prime trilogy. I associate Metroid (aside from a few titles) with a really solid gameplay experience. I'm happy to pay for that 2D or not.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 17th)

KingChiliPepper

My word, I'm overwhelmed this weekend! Still playing through Scarlet Nexus on PS5. I'm hooked on Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Switch. Mario Golf: Super Rush still has my attention and I just picked up Skyward Sword HD.

So many games on the go yet I still somehow spent all evening last night playing Magic: the Gathering Arena 😅
