I was worried I wouldn't get an invite so pre-ordered elsewhere. But I desperately wanted a GameCube controller so I was pleased to have an invite come through today so I could secure one.
Anyone else pre-order the Switch 2 camera? I see a lot of accessory talk in these comments but no camera love. For some reason I'm really excited by the possibilities it presents, not for game chat (meh), but for some goofy Nintendo games built around it. Might just be Playstation Eye Toy nostalgia, but I'd love a Wario Ware with camera based mini games.
I wouldn't want to play anything on my phone so I would be tempted by the Switch version for that reason. It's worth noting, though, that this game is also available on Steam, where it retains its cheaper price point (about £2 in the UK it looks like). That may be the better option for some.
It's so strange that they go so hard on offering quality prizes for these points, yet the only way to earn them is in an old eshop and mobile apps. Where's the platinum points for playing Switch games?
Was literally thinking today about searching for a Pokémon-like indie title to sink my teeth into. Looks like my hunt is over. Definitely gonna check this out, even if October is already a horrifically packed month!
Steam Deck looks like a great device if it suits your needs.
Personally, I'm happy sticking to my PC for Steam gaming. I have a Switch, PS5 and Series S, so I generally just use my PC for games that would benefit from a keyboard and mouse (strategy titles, certain RPGs and draggy/droppy card games). The little track pad thing on this looks like an absolute nightmare to me.
I've got my bases covered, no fat Game Gear for me.
It's baffling to me how many of you guys in the comments put so much value on the amount of time you get out of a game. Each to their own, of course, but I just don't consider that at all when I buy a game.
I guess it's because I'm not one for putting hundreds of hours into anything. I want to finish a game, enjoy it, then move on to the next thing. I'm too susceptible to hype not to.
I'm more interested in if a game is going to give me a quality experience. If I enjoy a game, that's enough for me, whether it lasted 10 or 100 hours doesn't affect me. In fact, with my busy life, I'd rather a game was shorter.
Genuine question: would you hold a movie to the same standard? Would you pay more for a 2-3 hour Marvel epic than a 90 minute acclaimed drama? Because less budget and production time went into the latter film, is that lesser and therefore not worth a standard ticket price?
Anyway, when it comes to Metroid, I can tell you I've had far more mileage out of the 2D games than I have any of the Prime trilogy. I associate Metroid (aside from a few titles) with a really solid gameplay experience. I'm happy to pay for that 2D or not.
My word, I'm overwhelmed this weekend! Still playing through Scarlet Nexus on PS5. I'm hooked on Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Switch. Mario Golf: Super Rush still has my attention and I just picked up Skyward Sword HD.
So many games on the go yet I still somehow spent all evening last night playing Magic: the Gathering Arena 😅

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The "Cloud Versions" Of Kingdom Hearts On Switch?
Good god no. Why would you? I did come out of that announcement hyped to play Kingdom Hearts again, but I just found a PS4 copy online.
I don't want cloud anything.

Also, yeah, but can it play Zelda?
Re: Former Nintendo Of America President Reveals His New Book
Ooh exciting. I always liked Reggie, he managed to remain visibly human on a platform where that isn't always common. It was charming.
Will be interesting to see how much detail he goes into regarding his strategies at Nintendo. I'll have to remember to pick this up.
