That's a bug in my opinion. Why on earth would they intentionally prevent the player from searching for items after beating the final boss while keeping the save file "open"? It doesn't make any sense
I'd be really surprised if there were only minimal differences between S1 and S2 versions. It makes sense to me that graphics took a hit. That's expected. But the great news is that performance is great, which suffices. This is the version I'm picking up, maybe for an upgrade later of even for double dipping with the S2 physical edition when I get the S2. Really really looking forward to tomorrow!!!
Graphical fidelity aside, it's really hard to argue that Tomb Raider (2013) isn't the best game in the franchise to come out on a Nintendo system in terms of gameplay
@Bobobiwan you pay $99 for a pair of vouchers. Tears of the Kingdom, for example, costs $70 alone. Vouchers are a great deal for those who decide to go 100% digital and get games day one. And you can make it even cheaper if you buy gift cards at a discount, then use the cards to buy a pair of vouchers
Playing handheld on S1 brings you into another world. I don't have a S2 to compare, but the 720p screen makes it pleasant to look at and enjoy gameplay. And I have this game on Xbox One and PS5. Having it handheld is different. It's a great plus and I'm curious to see the S2 version as there are people saying th3 S2 version is just an improved S1 version... what does it mean? That the experience I can have on My OLED is great or that the S2 version could be better?
@SBandy1 I don't wanna sound like a wet blanket, but as much as what you're asking is something they should have done from the start, it might take them some more years to introduce these features. Maybe when the Switch 3 comes out LOL
It might be nothing to some, but it's an incredible improvement for me. It helps a lot. The "setups" we had at home over 30 years ago are just nothing like today's devices, so every detail counts to improve the experience
I'm very interested in this game! As someone said in a comment above, having a digital map to look at on my tablet will be of great help and will add to the nostalgia the game will give me
I feel really strange about this all. Well, this is my favorite gaming franchise and as releases have been so few and far between, I usually tend to freak out around launch because of hype - which happened before Dread came out, for example - but I think life is getting in the way right now and giving me so much to do and think about that I feel time's been flying and launch day is just around the corner now. I haven't been able to "enjoy" the hype at all... I know I'm gonna play it day one, probably play and replay the game for dozens of hours before I put it down, but it should just be a more special moment for me...
Such wonderful news! The series I've spent the most time playing on the Switch is Picross. Of course, it's an unfair comparison due to the number of games and the number of hours each one offers. Day one purchase! I enjoy pretty much all Picross games but the licensed ones are definitely more interesting, and the Genesis and Master System edition has been the one I've played the most. I bet the Capcom one might take first place in the coming months
Oh, Lord.... That's a huge problem, in my opinion. Although it's not a surprise, as everybody knew S2's 256Gb internal storage was so little, the key problem here is the price of express SDs. And it's something everyone should consider before buying a Switch 2, unfortunately. Im not sure how much a 512 internal storage space would increase in the price of the console, but it was as clear as day from day one that with better graphics, 256 Gb would be an issue
I have the trilogy on XBox One, where I played it first, then I bought it again for the PS5 for improved performance and graphics. I paid peanuts both times. Now having this game handheld is a dream, but I'm not sure I'm paying for it again, especially without knowing how it's running on the original Switch...
My GOTY (or the past three years, maybr) is Silksong. It's just awesome and oozes love in every aspect, but I know it won't win. It hasn't got the necessary "qualifications" for that
Talk about a wonderful series!
Lots of high quality games, so in the end it all comes to personal preferences. Just to leave my two cents here, if a game that gave me dozens of hours of great fun (Skyward Sword) is placed at 20 something on the list, it means it's just a matter of taste. Just don't ask me to rank my favorite 10. I can give you a list, sure, but no way I can establish an order of greatness
@Pillowpants I live in Brazil. Our economic situation hasn't been great for quite some time, but we have a law that requires a yearly raise (called dissídio) aiming to compensate for purchasing power lost as a result of inflation. And thanks God that's still in effect. So, even when inflation is low, formal workers will get a low raise (agreed upon between worker unions and employer unions). Other than that, raises can be given in a case by case basis although in some sectors of the economy, raise has become a bad word LOL
Whoa! So the word "raise" is still a thing? Thought it had become just some old-fashioned term that scares people off... it's great it still exists somewhere
I've been playing it since launch - had to stop for a week, then another week because life got in the way - but it's been a wonderful time so far. I'm in Act 2, maybe approaching the end of it, progressing slowly but feeling really good with every tool acquired or patch of map discovered. I'm a huge Metroid fan, it's my favorite franchise, and I can't say anything about MP4 now, but Silksong is my GOTY now
I thought Activision had ordered to shut down all Crash projects because Crash 4 (a superb game) sold "only" - in their opinion - around 5 million copies...
God, I hate face off campaigns!!!! You get to a point in which you have super metroid x donkey Kong Country 2, secret of Mana x Mario Kart 8 deluxe.... A dispute that doesn't make any sense and I feel under a lot of pressure and guilty for making hard choices LOL... yeah, yeah, mental health has left the building, I know
If they manage to keep frame rates steady, these resolutions are just fine. Of course, I'm a single player, so I'm not getting 30 fps, and i totally understand those who are frustrated by the announcement of 30 fps for 4- player split screen
@JohnnyMind you have a point, sir. Having a physical version available and a waaaaay small library to compete with certainly helped 1-2 Switch around launch. What baffles me is it sold one extra million during the first financial year LOL This i just can't understand
@JohnnyMind I'm not sure whether Welcome Tour was expected to reach a million copies sold or not, but let's remember that 1-2 Switch sold around 1 million copies in its first month and was also criticized and got really mixed/average reviews when it came out. I'm comparing the 2 games because they serve the same purpose (showing what the system can do and so on). Of course, the S1 didn't get all the backlash the S2 got around launch, which certainly didn't help Welcome tour sales numbers. That being said, maybe some people indeed were expecting WT to sell 1 million. Who knows?
It's nice that this outfit thing is available (it seems to be extensive) since many people like to spend hours of gameplay solely focusing on this, but for me it's something I don't care about in a pokemon game. Out of my ZA gameplay time I've dedicated nothing to dressing up and collecting outfits. I keep wearing the original outfit and that's it
Although some of the versions I played more are out of this collection (Saturn versions of MK2 and UMK3, and MK4 for the N64), the included material is excellent in my opinion, both for playing (especially the superior arcade versions of the original trilogy) and preservation. I love these collections for the games and the extras, which are superb in some cases, like the Cowabunga Collection, and OK in others, but still good
And as I'm not an online fighting game player, I guess I'll not have problems with input lag, which would totally put me off
In certain side missions, if the time of day switches between daytime and nighttime at the exact moment that a move hits its target, it will become impossible to hit the target afterward, rendering the side mission incapable of being progressed further.
it's not exactly what they're going to address, but I was battling an alpha Pokemon (a slow battle, struggling to deliver any super effective hit, but the alpha Pokemon had around only 20% of its HP) when it switched to morning. My battle was interrupted, I lost all progress I had made and the alpha Pokemon had its HP replenished. A real bummer
About the boxes, there are 16, right? At least for me, it'd be a little hard to get all of them filled before the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle, but....
That's great news, as it's an excellent game that explored really well the NES power at the end of the console's life cycle. I just hope they release it digitally because I have zero interest in buying "new" NES games today and that the cartridge doesn't brick anyone's system
Microsoft's games division has been trying really hard to be seen as a joke since the announcement of the Xbox One. This is sad because supposedly the more competition, the better for players, but they're making a real effort to be out
@nikolai131 while we were technically in the pandemic when Arceus was released, it was in 2022. That's a completely different scenario from, let's say, Animal Crossing and other games who enjoyed the 2020 and early 2021 window. I guess Arceus sales numbers are largely due to the Pokemon name and its own merit rather than the pandemic
