Re: Review: Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition (Switch 2) - Just One Caveat Holds Back Capcom's Finest

@The_Nintend_Pedant I feel the same. And I feel absolutely disrespected when I buy a game and it's running like garbage, such as Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. I only make an exception and go back to it if I really want to play the game (Cyberpunk 2077, for example, which I decided to buy later because I felt the developers had credit for the superb work they did in The Witcher 3)

Unfortunately, it's become common practice in the industry: release the game as it is and let's see whether we'll fix it or not later

I'd really like to play Another Crab's Treasure, but even after updates, it doesn't run well enough on the Switch. If there's a decent sale, I might end up buying in on the PS5, but that's the kind of game I like to play handheld, so...

@SamSt565 well, lately I've been noticing that people who have been mostly positive about the Switch 1 in this comment section just don't agree with every Nintendo practice and they/we are just expressing how we feel about the whole thing. Nintendo has been making mistakes and awful decisions, but they still the company that created Metroid, Zelda, Mario, etc, and people love these franchises. Hating is one thing, disapproving of their recent practices is a totally different ball game. I think you don't know Nintendo haters. Their impossible to deal with. There's very very very little hate in this comment section and moderators work really well here. But there are a bunch of customers who are dissatisfied with Nintendo and I guess they're not leaving. It's not that simple

Re: Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Footage Shows 60fps Gameplay For Switch 2

John_Deacon

they likely weren't able to patch the game with the console power given to them

What are you talking about, man? That's the exact and only console power in question. That's the machine the game was developed for! That's the system they should have developed the game for. You guys go to awesome lengths to defend what can't be defended. And you tell me now the problem is with the timing of the complaint? It's been 3 years, so we should shut up and admit that we lost the money we paid for the game, supposedly an AAA attempt? Your attitude is just one little example of the things people do that allow companies to do what they've been doing for the past few years. Keep up the good work. It helps immensely

"It's fixed. And it's free!"

It might as well be fixed, but it isn't free. It's only $450. The problem is that many people in this comment section live in a bubble when it comes to this kind of atrocity. Everything is great! Everything is acceptable. No complaints. Shhhhhhh, you whiners! Come on, guys...

Now people feel entitled to tell others to shut up just because they paid $60 for a game released in a ridiculous state that never got the fps or other essential assets improved. Now I may get an upgrade "for free" if I fork out other $450 and they say I should be happy about it. And quiet! These are the Titanic musicians, but unlike the original ones, these will sink with the ship because they want to, not because they have no other choice. It baffles me

Alwa's Awakening - on the way to reach the final boss. The final areais carefully crafted so you have to calculate any jump and use of magic very precisely. This game is a little indie masterpiece that deserves more recognition
The Messenger - Replaying this wonderful game and having a ton of fun. Controls are just excellent, superb level design and it contains some of the best writing I've seen in gaming in many years
Resident Evil Remake (2002) finished a run playing Jill. Now I'm playing Chris

Re: Street Fighter 6 Somehow Combines Game-Key Card And Code-In-A-Box On Switch 2

John_Deacon

This was a release I was totally supportive of. Getting Years 1 and 2 players for a good price seemed almost too good to be true. Now it is... unfortunately. I'm really sorry for this one more disappointment to add to the streak. Fans deserve better than this. The only launch release I'm 100% happy for right now is Cyberpunk, which also seems too good to be true. I hope it isn't....

Re: Review: SoulCalibur II (GameCube) - One Of The Best Fighters Ever, Playable Oh-So-Soon On Switch 2

John_Deacon

@Vyacheslav333 I agree it's a weak bait, but it is what it is. Depending on how (or by whom) it's portrayed/handled, it might be seen as an awesome feature, an indispensable thing you'll only get if you buy their new console, maybe the greatest thing since sliced bread. That's what they want us to swallow. While for me (and maybe for you), it's all too little, there are people crazy to put their hands on their day-one S2 to play three 20-something-year-old Game Cube games (which are getting brand-new reviews now, whoa!) through a subscription service. It's hard to put in words how much I hate how things have been handled, but I guess you've noticed it

Resident Evil (2002 remake) - finishing a playthrough as Jill and starting another one as Chris
Alwa's Awakening - getting the final upgrade and entering the final area. I just love this game and its sequel!
Crash Bandicoot 4 - playing through the final world. This is a wonderful platformer, just the way it should be, in a glorious return. Superb level design, a true labor or love! My favorite Crash game.
Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Deluxe - playing this one in short bursts, looking for all the cogs. It's really relaxing!

Re: Review: Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny (Switch) - A Solid Remaster Of One Of PS2's Best, But Stick To 4:3

John_Deacon

Even though they used panning in Resident Evil Remake, I always stick with 4:3, as it's the only way I can see the complete image on the screen. There's just no point in "filling" the screen if you end up with a huge character and less visible area on the screen (and strange zoom ins on actors' faces in the case of movies). For movies and games that were originally produced in the 4:3 aspect ratio and offer the original option in their re-releases, that'd how I play/watch them

Re: Mario-Inspired 2D Platformer Secures A Switch 2 Release On Kickstarter

John_Deacon

Since Mario paved the way for almost everything platform-related, the term marioesque should only be used when we're talking about carbon copies. Otherwise, it's a legitimate influence, which no one can avoid when developing a new platformer.

I loved what I saw, and as I'm a sucker for platformers, I'll be looking forward to playing this game

Re: Metroid Prime Dev's Cancelled 3D Platformer 'Harmony' Streamed Online For More Than Four Hours

John_Deacon

This "linear 3D" game was in development during the Wii U generation and was supposedly stopped in its tracks when the Austin, Texas-based team was tasked with saving Metroid Prime 4.

So Metroid Prime 4 was in development pre-2017? It was a mess, they hired Retro, they started working on it, MP4 was announced, Retro couldn't save it, the ideas were scrapped and they started it from square one? Or have I gotten it all wrong?
I had no idea it was "a mess" (or going nowhere) even before it was announced
