Re: Nintendo Announces 'Virtual Game Cards' For Switch, Unlocking Digital Lending

John_Deacon

I don't like it. It's one more thing they're taking away from us. Although I understand it from a business perspective, once again they are imposing on us a way to play the games we've paid for within our homes.

I've had multiple Switches at home so that my ex-wife and I could play games simultaneously. We played our whole campaings of Pokemon Arceus independently sitting next to each other on two Switches. All we had to do was turn off the internet connection on the seconday console. If the online check becomes mandatory now, that will become impossible. Or worse, the lending/borrowing system will automatically enable or prevent you from booting a game since it will only be authorized on one console at a time

I just hope I understand it all wrong

Re: Nintendo Music Updated To Version 1.1.0, Here's What's Included

@BananaMetallurgica I'm not sure if you're referring to all the tracks on the app or all the tracks of a game. In the case of all the tracks of a specific game, it took me some time to learn that you have to click the name of the game, them scroll down a little and then click "all tracks". Otherwise, the app keeps sending you from incomplete playlist to incomplete playlist

Re: How Would You Rate The Pokémon Presents Showcase For February 2025?

John_Deacon

My only focus Pokemon-wise is ZA Legends. I just love Arceus and I really hope this one is as good as Arceus. What worries me is the ridiculous performance we saw in SV, which was not clear until near release. This aspect was a major turn off for me and I can't stand the game for this reason, although I recognize it would have been a superb Pokemon game if performance had been decent. Let's wait and hope

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Star Fox 64

To think that we had go through the mid-to-late-90s graphics and cover artworks....
I understand the importance of the birth of 3d graphics back then, after all I lived that time, enjoyed the games... but looking back, games feel cranky and ugly, cover arts look odd. But that's the price you have to pay if you wanna develop technology and improve knowledge. That being said, although there's some nostalgia in the the US cover art, it's incredibly dull. The JP one shows the characters and that adds more life to it

  • DKC Tropical Freeze - still advancing (slowly) towards 100%
  • Castlevania - Order of Ecclesia - after beating the GBA trilogy and the first two DS games, I'm starting Ecclesia. I've always consider this one a difficult game. Let's see how things go this time.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - playing 150cc aiming at three-star trophies for all cups. No wonder this game is still selling like hot cakes. There's endless content and there are all levels of challenge for all players.

Re: Best Mario Sports Games Of All Time

John_Deacon

Just a confession here: I clicked this article just to see where Battle League was on this list and it's one more disappointment in addition to the money I paid for it and the (little) time I could stand it. A full-priced "AAA" Nintendo game is supposed to offer much more than this shallow piece. 2 years and a half after its release, I still feel it's been a complete rip-off

Re: Poll: Is It Finally Time For Castlevania To Rise Again?

John_Deacon

I've been in a Castlevania craze recently and although I'll be in the minority here, I have to say that I'll be interested in it if it's something in the veins of Bloodstained, but properly optimized. I'm not sure if they've been able to make 3D Castlevanias work well so far. Is it worth trying again?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th February)

These haven't been easy times regarding working hours, but that's the way it is in the world we're living. The result is very little time for gaming

  • Castlevania Order of Ecclesia - After beating the awesome Portrait of Ruin, I'm starting Ecclesia now to finish what I believe to be the most amazing 6-game streak in the history of gaming (Circle is very good while the following five are incredible!)
  • DKC Tropical Freeze - still moving slowly towards 100%. No hurry at all and enjoying the ride
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - I've decided to resume my goal of getting all best trophies in the 150cc class. It's not an easy goal, but it's so fun! So far I've gotten the 4-victory 3-star trophy for two cups only in 150cc, so there's still a long way to go, including the expansion tracks

Re: Review: Turbo Overkill (Switch) - Ridiculous, Relentless Boomer Shooter Gets A Solid Port

John_Deacon

Well, let's see if the frame rate "concession", which has been necessary for many games to run better on the Switch is no longer needed on the Switch 2.

I know even the powerful consoles suffer when a game is all about graphics, but since the Switch has been the place where devs usually find a good balance between reasonable graphics and performance, I really hope we have a step up on the Switch 2
