@Gatorclops I'd rather have a positive attitude towards actual people (family, friends, partner, coworkers, neighbors...), not towards greedy money-making machines that see me as pure meat just waiting to be ground, but suit yourself
they likely weren't able to patch the game with the console power given to them
What are you talking about, man? That's the exact and only console power in question. That's the machine the game was developed for! That's the system they should have developed the game for. You guys go to awesome lengths to defend what can't be defended. And you tell me now the problem is with the timing of the complaint? It's been 3 years, so we should shut up and admit that we lost the money we paid for the game, supposedly an AAA attempt? Your attitude is just one little example of the things people do that allow companies to do what they've been doing for the past few years. Keep up the good work. It helps immensely
It might as well be fixed, but it isn't free. It's only $450. The problem is that many people in this comment section live in a bubble when it comes to this kind of atrocity. Everything is great! Everything is acceptable. No complaints. Shhhhhhh, you whiners! Come on, guys...
Now people feel entitled to tell others to shut up just because they paid $60 for a game released in a ridiculous state that never got the fps or other essential assets improved. Now I may get an upgrade "for free" if I fork out other $450 and they say I should be happy about it. And quiet! These are the Titanic musicians, but unlike the original ones, these will sink with the ship because they want to, not because they have no other choice. It baffles me
If this makes people happy - this being just a small part of the whole anti-customer package they've been being for the past decade - I don't know what might come from Nintendo that will make them angry, or at least upset. Let's wait and see how it will all go after some time...
Alwa's Awakening - on the way to reach the final boss. The final areais carefully crafted so you have to calculate any jump and use of magic very precisely. This game is a little indie masterpiece that deserves more recognition The Messenger - Replaying this wonderful game and having a ton of fun. Controls are just excellent, superb level design and it contains some of the best writing I've seen in gaming in many years Resident Evil Remake (2002) finished a run playing Jill. Now I'm playing Chris
This was a release I was totally supportive of. Getting Years 1 and 2 players for a good price seemed almost too good to be true. Now it is... unfortunately. I'm really sorry for this one more disappointment to add to the streak. Fans deserve better than this. The only launch release I'm 100% happy for right now is Cyberpunk, which also seems too good to be true. I hope it isn't....
@Vyacheslav333 I agree it's a weak bait, but it is what it is. Depending on how (or by whom) it's portrayed/handled, it might be seen as an awesome feature, an indispensable thing you'll only get if you buy their new console, maybe the greatest thing since sliced bread. That's what they want us to swallow. While for me (and maybe for you), it's all too little, there are people crazy to put their hands on their day-one S2 to play three 20-something-year-old Game Cube games (which are getting brand-new reviews now, whoa!) through a subscription service. It's hard to put in words how much I hate how things have been handled, but I guess you've noticed it
@Dee123 So when Nintendo prohibited players (or content creators) from uploading gameplay videos of Nintendo games many years ago, this is also something that the internet brought on itself? The Nintendo hate train didn't start with the Switch 2 controversy
We all should. It's another dumb choice they're making. The app isn't locked behind a paywall, so they wouldn't be losing anything by letting their content be distributed across other media. That's just them. Again.
Resident Evil (2002 remake) - finishing a playthrough as Jill and starting another one as Chris Alwa's Awakening - getting the final upgrade and entering the final area. I just love this game and its sequel! Crash Bandicoot 4 - playing through the final world. This is a wonderful platformer, just the way it should be, in a glorious return. Superb level design, a true labor or love! My favorite Crash game. Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Deluxe - playing this one in short bursts, looking for all the cogs. It's really relaxing!
I've never played this one, only 1 and 2. The first game was a marvel (at least for me) when it came out. I still have fond memories of it. I bought the 1-2 bundle on Xbox years ago, and since I've been revisiting some old favorites recently (2002 Resident Evil being the one now), maybe it's time to give Shenmue 1 another go
I just hope Ubisoft takes a different approach this time (on, my lord, that's just naive me). I mean, if this game sells 3 million like Sparks of Hope, will they say it's a bad result?
Even though they used panning in Resident Evil Remake, I always stick with 4:3, as it's the only way I can see the complete image on the screen. There's just no point in "filling" the screen if you end up with a huge character and less visible area on the screen (and strange zoom ins on actors' faces in the case of movies). For movies and games that were originally produced in the 4:3 aspect ratio and offer the original option in their re-releases, that'd how I play/watch them
I'm really hyped for this game. It not only brings back all that nostalgia but also adds a layer of modern design, which I feel is being used in a really nice way. Let's hope, wait and see
Since Mario paved the way for almost everything platform-related, the term marioesque should only be used when we're talking about carbon copies. Otherwise, it's a legitimate influence, which no one can avoid when developing a new platformer.
I loved what I saw, and as I'm a sucker for platformers, I'll be looking forward to playing this game
@Uncle_Franklin In my case, it's pure nostalgia. Just like the team you're a fan of: it doesn't matter who's better than them, you'll always support them and say they're the best LOL
@PipeGuy64Bit Which is something caused by Nintendo themselves. They are terrible at communicating clearly. Much of the backlash and negative press they've been getting could have been avoided had they chosen to be clear and direct since the Nintendo Direct and subsequent price reveal. From then on, they've just chosen to go downhill
The first reasonable statement from Nintendo for the past few weeks/months. And not entirely reasonable, as they made it 100% clear that they "currently" don't have plans to use GKC. Tomorrow never knows
This "linear 3D" game was in development during the Wii U generation and was supposedly stopped in its tracks when the Austin, Texas-based team was tasked with saving Metroid Prime 4.
So Metroid Prime 4 was in development pre-2017? It was a mess, they hired Retro, they started working on it, MP4 was announced, Retro couldn't save it, the ideas were scrapped and they started it from square one? Or have I gotten it all wrong? I had no idea it was "a mess" (or going nowhere) even before it was announced
@Shiro28 I get what you're saying. What I'd like to know is whether the million copies sold for each of these games will be enough (from the point of view of investors, etc) to ensure a sequel. Maybe their bar is 2 million. You never what these guys have in mind....
Well, Nintendo has been working diligently to put off customers. I've never seen such a backlash in the gaming industry like this one that's been going on now. Of all my friends and acquaintances who have a Switch, only ONE is getting a Switch 2 day one. I didn't see this happening so intensely around the launch of the Xbox One, for crying out loud. At least here where I live. All the others, including me, didn't even try pre-ordering one. If they're making one anti consumer statement (and action) after another, I'm not gonna fight them. I'll just not buy their new console. It's a long list of "measures" they've been adopting that end up scaring the kind of customer who, like me, has very little chance of being affected by them. However, when we understand these actions as hostility, it's better to keep off their grass. I've spent thousands of dollars to buy all the games I've bought since 2017. I'd never spent so much money on games as this. I don't regret it, cause I've had fun, but the Nintendo "package" is just too much for me now. I'm postponing buying a Switch 2. God knows when (or if) ill end up getting one. Right now it's Switch 1, PS5 and retro emulation. And that's it. I'm disappointed
Teaching everyone how to make good games, how to port them well and how to take solid steps toward preservation by selling a cart with a FULL game in it.
@StewdaMegaManNerd you're absolutely right on that one. The only problem is the introduction of game-key cards now. If Nintendo gradually starts to adopt them for their first party releases, then physical will be doomed once and for all. If they stick to actual physical media and only offer GKC as an option for third party partners, then it's ok
Great! This justifies Nintendo's decision to release one more port/remaster of an old game for full price. From my point of view, this type of port should never be full priced releases. Never ever. But when over a million people buy it (again), who am I to say anything about it?
@wuntyme8 Besides eveything you said, BOTW was a launch title for the Switch, which vastly increases the chances that a game will sell well. With TOTK, the console wasn't a new thing anymore, the trailers showed clearly that although it looked incredible, it expanded on what BOTW had already shown years before, so the premise of the game wasn't entirely new, either. So, I'd say TOTK was more for players who are not in for mere curiosity, but because they want the experience the game has to offer
In the end, it's a shame there's still a 10 million copy gap between them because, from my point of view, TOTK is a much better experience than BOTW. It delivers more and better
@Pillowpants Yeah, their attitude was absolutely disappointing. It's like they made a clear decision about not optimizing/improving/finishing the game. An "AAA" game...
@Pillowpants I think these NSMU Deluxe numbers can only be justified by timing. It was released in early 2019. There was not much competition back then in terms of 2D Mario platformers.
And about the Mario Party games, I like Superstars much more than Super, too. But again, it was the first one to come out, so it ended up selling really well first. Maybe that's what can justify it
@VoidofLight I prefer to keep a little simpler: why sell a 'finished' product when you can sell it virtually unfinished and without proper optimization? It'll sell the same way
I have been mostly a Nintendo gamer since the 90s. Although I've never lived in regions where gaming is traditionally more affordable, such as the US or most European countries, the past 15 years haven't been bad here in terms of access to games or affordability, but that's over now. Before that, access was harder, but you could always find something here and there. After the last rise, Mario Kart World will cost one third of a minimum salary here. I don't mean your average weekly pay. That's a third of your monthly salary. Bananza, almost a third. Even though I don't live on a salary like that, keeping up with releases is absolute luxury now, totally prohibitive for me and my friends. PS5 and Xbox are expensive as well, but games are cheaper and first-party deals are much better than Nintendo's. Of all my gamer friends, only one pre-ordered the Switch 2. I'll enjoy my backlog and my retro games, play some PS5 games, enjoy PS+ more often, replay my Switch 1 games and that's ok. I'll get a Switch 2 eventually, but I have no idea when
It's incredible how some people fear nothing! How could they challenge Nintendo at what they do best: suing people and companies? Not that I agree with Nintendo's relentless behavior, but even though I disagree with that, if I can avoid being sued, of course I'll avoid it, not challenge them.
Metroid Dread (Switch) - once again having a blast replaying Dread as part of my preparation before Prime 4 comes out. Dread is one my favorite entries in the series. Who said you can't play a Metroid game for hundreds of hours? Ratchet and Clank: RIft Apart (PS5) - This is my first time playing this one. it's a solid 10/10 for me. Everything is fluid, beautiful, precise and really fun. Voice acting is incredible
the industry is indeed in a horrible place right now where even success doesn't guarantee survival.
This is the same for devs, journalists, store staff, etc. Its a shame. Maybe the industry will be "reformatted" and things will change. Prices have been soaring, layoffs are commonplace, physical media is being killed without any mercy, and here we are....
@shgamer I'm not sure if the arcade games you're referring to are Hamster's Arcade Archives. If that's the case, you'd better check if they're compatible with Switch 2 before you make the move. Last time I read something about it, the Arcade Archives library (and other emulated collections) won't be compatible with S2 (or they arent fully compatible YET). But please look it up yourself

Last time I read something about it, the Arcade Archives library (and other emulated collections) won't be compatible with S2 (or they arent fully compatible YET). But please look it up yourself
