I think I'll wait for a sale, the single player is what would've pushed me to a day 1 purchase but that's very limited according to the review.

Maybe the sky battles? Star Fox is missing in action so maybe Zelda is used to test the waters for a new one much like MK World could be used as a potential test for the return of Wave Race.

More FFVII Remake, focusing on the remaining battle intel reports as I've finished the main game and DLC. Once I've finished, I'll move onto the MH Stories 3 or Pragmata demo.

I'm excited to see what 3rd party support is incoming and hoping the rumours about smaller cart sizes result in more true physical releases for Switch 2.

@ElRoberico Not yet but they did announce the demo was coming later to consoles. Pragmata and RE9 being part of Nintendo preview events makes me think both may get demos shadow dropped in the supposed Partner Showcase later this week.

Planning DQ7 (Switch 1 physical), UFO 50 (Switch 1 physical), MH Stories 3 (Switch 2 digital because physical is Key Card) and Star Force collection (Switch 1 digital as there's no Europe physical).

@Kiz3000 If Part 3 doesn't have any PS exclusivity and releases close to the 30th anniversary of the original game, Summer 2026 would be the way to time Rebirth such that there's an approximately equal timeframe between the Switch 2 versions of all 3 entries in the Remake trilogy.

I made sure to unlock the Swampertite mega stone on Friday so now I can focus more on FFVII Remake.

It's a relief that there's a Switch physical copy, the Nintendo site saying "Nintendo Switch Download Software" since last year's announcement made me think it may be digital only. Hopefully Rhythm Heaven gets a physical copy as well.

Does anyone know if there's a physical version? The eshop shows that you can use NSO vouchers towards this game so if it's digital only I'd buy a pair of NSO vouchers and use the other towards the digital only Famicom Detective Club remakes.

It would be disappointing if Prime 2 didn't get a port/remaster. I was hoping the full trilogy would get a physical copy for the Switch ecosystem but also FPS/TPS feels much better when you have gyro controls, NSO does neither.

I hope the focus is 3rd party support, being able to use Switch 2 as both a 1st and 3rd party machine is very convenient.

@GoproGO The 3DS Tomodachi Life game was huge, sold 6.72 million copies. The only 3DS games that outsold it were:

• Mainline Pokemon games (X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Sun/Moon, Ultra Sun/Moon)
• 2D Mario (NSMB2)
• 3D Mario (3D Land)
• Smash
• Animal Crossing (New Leaf)
• Mario Kart (MK7)
• Yokai Watch 2

I think Tomodachi Life is Nintendo's biggest release for the first half of this year.

It'll be interesting when this releases, I was thinking May to spread the 3 life sims evenly (New Horizons in January, Pokopia in March, Tomodachi Life in May) but this Direct makes me think April.

In any case, I'm more confident next week is a Partner Showcase as a result of this.

It was interesting that they used Woolly World when talking about Yoshi's presence in games. Usually Nintendo avoids showing off games that can't be played in the current ecosystem so it would be cool if that was another tease for Switch 1 getting a Woolly World port.

Continuing with FFVII Remake, really happy that I'm able to play this on Switch 2.

I hope the message Nintendo takes from this is that Wario Land needs to return. GBA beat Switch 2 and Wario Land 4 was a major launch window game.

It could’ve gone either way (Wonder or Yoshi) for late March to be close to the movie. I was hoping for Yoshi but oh well, at least this news means I can slot in MH Stories 3 as my primary March game.

Like the other Switch 2 Editions, Wonder’s Switch 2 edition doesn’t feel worth the price.

Continuing with Path of Radiance. It’s still a fantastic game but I do wish it got a remaster instead of being chucked on NSO.

I think it’s the Lite to be released close to Pokemon Gen 10. Having a cheaper model released close to the first new Pokemon generation of a console has done wonders for Pokemon sales in the past.

@Waluigi451 Both Generations and CrossWorlds were at the first State of Play for the year (initial reveal for the former, gameplay reveal for the latter) so if there’s a 2026 Sonic game it’ll probably be announced at State of Play.

Them mentioning no new kits gives hope that a future update beyond 11.0.0 will have more new kits as the message has a “There will be no mention of the Switch successor during this presentation” feel to it.

@LuigiMario The upgrade pack will become preorderable whenever a release date is announced, currently there’s just a vague “Spring 2026” window.

@Drago201 It’s the same reason why Sony got rid of the Playstation Hits line as PS5 approached, PS5 remasters with upgrade paths are rather cheap when you can get a big discount on the original PS4 version.

In Sony’s case, they even increased the price of PS4 versions that were already part of the Playstation Hits line when PS5 version approached like Horizon Zero Dawn.

Continuing with FF Tactics, had to turn down the difficulty to Squire because some boss fights were too hard but it’s still a very fun game.

My favourite Fire Emblem game, excited to replay it again after finishing FF Tactics.

Disappointing that it looks almost identical to the current ones when connected to the Switch 2. Not holding my breath but hoping Nintendo considers Splatoon Raiders a big enough release to do more interesting Switch 2 Joy-Con and Pro Controller designs.

I’d imagine this game would get a beta prior to launch considering that’s what happened with the sports games on Switch (Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Strikers, Switch Sports).

@obijuankanoobie Considering Nintendo went out of their way to create a replica Virtual Boy of all things just for NSO, I could see them having a purchasable detachable stereoscopic 3D screen you can connect to Switch 2 whenever they add 3DS NSO to be able to use Switch 2 like a 3DS.

Excited to jump back into the single player with this DLC. A new GP to beat, red rings to collect and time trials to get A ranks in.

Won’t be bothering with the online Festival event that happens this weekend though, will be playing Splatfest and FF Tactics during that timespan.

@Glassneedles I'd guess it was to do with a regional PS exclusivity deal. There was the whole situation about DQXI being PS exclusive outside Japan for awhile despite it being the first ever announced NX game.

Continuing with FF Tactics while also making sure I briefly load up a multiplayer game each day to replenish my platinum points (Air Riders had so many NSO icons it drained my supply very fast).

EDIT: Removed mentioning Rogue Prince of Persia as an error as I realized the April listing was about the physical version.

Right now it's just FF7 digital, DQ7 Switch 1 physical and UFO 50 Switch 1 physical. Mario Tennis is a maybe, it doesn't feel like a new Mario Tennis is needed when Aces exists but if Yoshi/Fire Emblem turns out to be Key Cards then I will get Mario Tennis day 1.

Playing FF Tactics for the first time and currently very early on in the game but I'm confused. Guest units keep running in getting themselves killed and my controllable characters seem to get killed within 2 enemy hits.

Are you meant to spend lots of time grinding XP before moving on with the story or is it about needing to change jobs early?

Maybe a Dirge of Cerberus remaster?

@electrolite77 My point was why both platforms continue to sell well. If you want Nintendo 1st party exclusives you have to buy Nintendo hardware but if you want Sony's 1st party games and/or the big 3rd party support you have to buy PS if you want a console.

If Nintendo lost their exclusives, I think that would drive more people to PS because PS would pretty much have everything at that point but that's not the case for Nintendo. Meanwhile the heavily rumoured dockable PS6 handheld covers those who want an experience similar to Switch.

@Gamecuber @electrolite77 I don't think it's about power. Switch 2 is missing out on loads of 3rd party games at the moment meanwhile Xbox is a very unstable platform. If you want to play the big 3rd party games, you pretty much either have to buy a PS5 or have faith that Switch 2 will get it in the future.

Playing through Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac and then FF Tactics after that. Very little is happening until FFVII Remake in late January so I'm mostly catching up on Switch 1 games I didn't get around to playing because I prioritized playing DK Bananza when I got a Switch 2 in early October.

@AussieMcBucket It's almost always October/November. There were a few exceptions like Warzone (1.0 and Mobile) and MW2 Campaign Remastered which were March though.

If the upcoming release includes Switch 1, it's likely CoD Mobile or a remaster but if it's Switch 2 only it's probably Warzone 2.0.

I wonder if they'll bring it back with red Joy-Con 2 for MAR10 day. Compared to the Switch 1 days of red/blue at launch, yellow for ARMS, green/pink for Splatoon 2 and a different red for Odyssey the colour options for Switch 2's launch year are very limiting.

That's good to hear, Rise is my favourite game in the trilogy and I didn't finish Shadow years ago on Xbox because there was a point where the floodgates opening for Switch 1 3rd party ports gave sizable hope for the survivor trilogy coming to Nintendo hardware.

Focusing on Tomb Raider Definitive Edition again, reached level 60 in the multiplayer and it's hard to find matches so I may just start the single player.

I know about the glitch where playing multiplayer resets your skills in single player so I need to start the single player at a point where I'm not going to try to find multiplayer matches prior to single player completion.

Surprised it's that early on in the year considering RE7-9 is February, MH Stories 3 is March and Pragmata is April. Would've thought it would've been some point in May - August considering GTA6 being delayed to November opens up Spring/Summer 2026 a lot more.

Yoshi and Fire Emblem are the final hopes for the future of true physical gaming, if those turn out to be Key Cards then it's over...

Continuing with Legends Z-A's DLC and hoping to find more Tomb Raider Definitive Edition multiplayer matches.

Pragmata was a really nice surprise, excited to check out the Switch 2 demo and it's only 4 months away. Mega Man and Tomb Raider reveals were cool but I think they'd be more exciting reveals if made closer to launch (and the announcement of Switch 2 version in the case of Tomb Raider).

Is it just the Europe side or worldwide? I did notice after a system update last month that Nintendo requires you to accept some new data processing stuff to receive things like Year in Review and the ability to participate in betas.

It's nice that Air Riders is continuing to do well in Japan. Hopefully it convinces Nintendo that other franchises like F-Zero, Wave Race and 1080 can coexist alongside Mario Kart.
