I have happy memories of playing completing Metroid Prime and Fusion and linking them together. I remember it unlocked the Fusion Suit and Metroid NES in Prime, but can anyone remember what was unlocked in Fusion?
I was hoping for MP2 and MP3 remasters to be announced too. I haven’t played MP3 much, I have no idea who Sylux is for example! I do have it for the Wii but I’d rather just play it on Switch with the gorgeous remaster graphics.
I did briefly play MP3 years ago but never got past the first bit, there was just loads of chatting with humans and naff looking aliens. Not a Metroid game to me! I really hope 4 is closer to MP1 in that regard.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll give this a go with my daughters this morning. It should entertain them for a short while. Now I just have to think what to do with them for the rest of this wet and rainy half term holiday 😫
I wish these weren’t only available from LRG. Not because I have a massive problem with LRG (not for their standard releases anyway), but because I’m based in the UK. I wish they would open a UK/EU distribution site, or WayForward and the like would use someone else to release their stuff this side of the pond.
But this game is broken on Switch though. Why isn’t this mentioned in the article? Horizontal movement speed is all over the place, when you turn left and right the camera speeds up and slows down randomly. Performance in general is laggy, and there are audio issues.
But hey, let’s release some DLC and add more broken content to the game.
I totally forgot about these issues when I saw the physical version of this game in CEX and got it. At least I only used vouchers on it. It’s a shame, because if it wasn’t for the issues the game looks a lot of fun.
I still have no idea how I’m going to be able to take a real life adult human seriously that’s wearing a green fairy costume. Unless they use different attire of course (such as the blue outfit). I’m very intrigued how this will pan out.
So nice to read a positive story about a games company for once. Thanks to everyone involved for making the effort to put this story out there, especially in the current climate.
I’m looking forward to their next game. I thoroughly enjoyed Yooka-Laylee. I own, but haven’t yet played, Impossible Lair and think I might have to make it my next game to play now.
Me and my daughters are looking forward to this. I have it on 3DS and completed it years ago, but my daughters loved LM3 and they want to play this so the Switch version it is!
I just can’t see how I can take any real-life adult human male dressed as Link seriously. I’m interested to see how they approach the look of the characters, before anything else like the plot.
Any game that has any kind of movement just looks and feels better at 60fps. That’s just a fact and anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
Does it mean 30fps games are unplayable? Of course it doesn’t. But the exact same game at 60fps will always look and feel better than at 30fps, stop lying to yourselves.
@Angelic_Lapras_King how much were the Pikmin ones going for? I have one but not that bothered about it and would have sold it if I’d known it went for silly money 🤣
I also have the squishy Metroid one, although it’s opened and I also have the other one for Samus Returns. Might have to check what they go for too.
@cvrator yeah, I’ll watch it when I can, thanks. It’s just annoying, I can’t exactly watch an 18 minute video as conveniently as I can read a five minutes (or less) article.
This looks cool, but thankfully I’m over my ‘collecting tat’ stage and so just happy to get the game on its own.
(I’m not saying this is tat, it’s definitely one of the better bonuses you get these days. I’m just glad I no longer feel the need to have to collect all this limited edition ancillary stuff and I’m happy just getting the games on their own).
This article would have been a much more enjoyable read if the text wasn’t jumping up and down on my phone’s screen all the time while I’m trying to read. That’s definitely got worse on this site lately. Eurogamer does the same.
On topic, the opening segment of Super Metroid has to be the best opening of any SNES game. And one of the best openings of any game, period.
Another vote for being able to buy the ROM and a PDF version of the manual. While I do have original GBA games in my collection, I have no interest in ordering from Limited Run and I don’t really like these new releases on old consoles anyway, they just don’t look right and never feel like a proper original game to me. But I want to play this and want to pay for the privilege.
I tried the demo for Cadence of Hyrule the other day. I must say I’m not a fan. I don’t have an issue with keeping the rhythm or anything, I just didn’t find it a particularly interesting concept or game mechanic to base a whole game around. Plus I didn’t think the music was that great either (other than the title screen), which for a game based around music isn’t ideal!
I played about 90% of this game a few years ago on the GameCube, before accidentally formatting my memory card when trying to play a Japanese game. Never had the will to start it again. I’ll use the Switch version to rectify that.
All they need to do it re-release the F1 set from the late 80s, but with Mario based mini figures instead, and a few weapon pieces. Job done! And it would look 10 times better than anything they come up with for Lego these days 🤣
(Yes I’m an old man who thinks Lego was better in the old days and doesn’t actually buy Lego anymore.)
Well thanks a lot PEGI. I bought this game when it was 3+, before you slapped an 18+ age rating on it. My 6 year old daughter played it twice and now she’s addicted to gambling. It’s Friday night, she should be in bed cuddling up to Puppy, but instead she’s out on the town hitting up the Casinos. Your tardiness has cost at least one life.
I hope this is as easy and simple as all the previews are making out, and it’s really difficult to die. I want my two young daughters to be able to play this with as minimal input from me as possible.
The only game I’ve come across so far that does this sufficiently is Yoshi’s Crafted World with its Mellow Mode. All other ‘easy’ modes I find are still too easy to die on for them. And the easy mode characters on Mario Wonder don’t let you transform into elephants so my daughters don’t want to play as them 🤣
I’ve had mine for less than a year. I’ve been very behind the curve since the Wii U, but also I was naively waiting for a price drop that hasn’t happened. They really should do one soon, it would give a final boost to sales before Switch 2.
I’ve got so many games in my backlog already (due to being so late to the party) that I won’t be getting a Switch 2 at launch. I’ll wait at least a year, maybe even for the inevitable OLED model if they don’t release with one. Then again, if Metroid Prime 4 is a launch title or launch window release, I’m sure I’ll be buying one much sooner 🤣
I’m sure it’s nostalgia speaking, but Lego doesn’t seem anywhere near as good as the ‘Legoland’ series from the late 80s and early 90s. All this look naff compared to the Pirate Ship, Black Fortress or Formula 1 stuff you could get back then.
I’ll wait for the retail edition to hit one of the UK outlets like Sea of Stars has.
Talking of Sea of Stars, it’s a shame the ‘Exclusive Edition’ doesn’t look like it will be coming to Europe. That to me is how a collector’s edition should be. Manual, soundtrack, slipcase. No extra tat taking up space and costing loads of money.
But unless they could have released it earlier (unlikely), would it have mattered? They’d have wanted to release it in the window up to Xmas, so no matter when they released it in that window it would have been in Mario Wonder’s shadow. The only alternative would then be to release it after Xmas, which is even worse.
I’ve just watched the Digital Foundry video, the audio issue is really off-putting to me. It probably doesn’t bother a lot of people, but there is no way I could play it with different parts of the music not being in time with other. It’s just too egregious to hear. I can’t believe they released the game with that issue to be honest.
It really is strange seeing Nintendo doing so well in the UK that a Mario vs Donkey Kong game gets the number 1 spot. I know it’s been like this for years now with the Switch, but I still find it very strange! I vividly remember the 2000s where PS2 dominated in the UK and GameCube was lucky to get one game in the top ten.
I’ve pre-ordered this for my two young daughters, although I’m sure I’ll enjoy playing it too. I’m glad it’s easy, perfect for my girls. They love mellow mode on Yoshi’s Carfted World.
@Eggolor I’ve just completed Mario RPG (literally 30 mins ago!) and I must say I found it very meh. I can’t pinpoint why exactly though. It looks nice, is charming, and I like how quick it was to do the battles and the fast travel. But something didn’t click. I just felt like I was going through the motions and I’m glad I can start a new game now!

Re: Poll: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Is Out This Week, Will You Be Getting It?
I’ll be getting it Day 1. My daughters can’t wait after playing LM3. I’m fine with paying £40 for it.

Re: Round Up: Limited Run Games Showcase 2024 - Every Switch Announcement & Physical
If they partnered with a UK distributor I’d buy loads of LRG’s releases. But as it stands, I won’t be buying any unfortunately.
Re: We're Finally Getting 'Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition' News This Week
I’ve just realised you can pre-order Beyond Good and Evil 2 on the PS4 via Amazon UK for £70 🤣
I really hope we get a physical release of this remake in Europe. I’m fed up of everything being LRG and US only.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Confirmed For Switch, Launching 2025
@dudujencarelli thanks! All Metroid Prime games I haven’t played, hence I had no idea who it was 🤣

MP4 looks great though it must be said.

So erm, yeah. I understood precisely 3 words and 2 letters from that overview trailer.

Re: Talking Point: 'Remake' Vs. 'Remaster' - What's Your Definition?
I honestly don’t care how they’re defined. If it’s done well and it’s a game I like then I’ll probably buy it.
Re: Nintendo Celebrates Paper Mario: TTYD Release With "Retro" GameCube Cover
If I printed this out on my printer at home it would look abysmal and the complete opposite of ‘special’!

A price drop will boost sales I’m sure. Come on Nintendo! You must have enough give in your margins by now.
Re: Nintendo Shares Luigi's Mansion 2 HD 'Rude Awakening' Video

Erm, not sure these statements really go together 🤣

Have they really? I’d struggle to name 50. And we’re talking franchises, not single games. I’d love to be proven wrong (list time!).
