Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Confirmed For Switch, Launching 2025

GravyThief

I was hoping for MP2 and MP3 remasters to be announced too. I haven’t played MP3 much, I have no idea who Sylux is for example! I do have it for the Wii but I’d rather just play it on Switch with the gorgeous remaster graphics.

I did briefly play MP3 years ago but never got past the first bit, there was just loads of chatting with humans and naff looking aliens. Not a Metroid game to me! I really hope 4 is closer to MP1 in that regard.

MP4 looks great though it must be said.

Re: Warhammer 40K: Boltgun Reveals New DLC, Coming To Switch At "A Later Date"

GravyThief

But this game is broken on Switch though. Why isn’t this mentioned in the article? Horizontal movement speed is all over the place, when you turn left and right the camera speeds up and slows down randomly. Performance in general is laggy, and there are audio issues.

But hey, let’s release some DLC and add more broken content to the game.

I totally forgot about these issues when I saw the physical version of this game in CEX and got it. At least I only used vouchers on it. It’s a shame, because if it wasn’t for the issues the game looks a lot of fun.

Re: Feature: Who Is Playtonic's Voice Of The People?

GravyThief

So nice to read a positive story about a games company for once. Thanks to everyone involved for making the effort to put this story out there, especially in the current climate.

I’m looking forward to their next game. I thoroughly enjoyed Yooka-Laylee. I own, but haven’t yet played, Impossible Lair and think I might have to make it my next game to play now.

Re: My Nintendo Store UK Restocks Over 100 amiibo Figures

GravyThief

@Angelic_Lapras_King how much were the Pikmin ones going for? I have one but not that bothered about it and would have sold it if I’d known it went for silly money 🤣

I also have the squishy Metroid one, although it’s opened and I also have the other one for Samus Returns. Might have to check what they go for too.

Re: My Nintendo Store Reveals Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Pre-Order Bundle (EU)

GravyThief

This looks cool, but thankfully I’m over my ‘collecting tat’ stage and so just happy to get the game on its own.

(I’m not saying this is tat, it’s definitely one of the better bonuses you get these days. I’m just glad I no longer feel the need to have to collect all this limited edition ancillary stuff and I’m happy just getting the games on their own).

Re: Soapbox: 30 Years Later, Super Metroid's Foreboding Atmosphere Is Still Unmatched

GravyThief

This article would have been a much more enjoyable read if the text wasn’t jumping up and down on my phone’s screen all the time while I’m trying to read. That’s definitely got worse on this site lately. Eurogamer does the same.

On topic, the opening segment of Super Metroid has to be the best opening of any SNES game. And one of the best openings of any game, period.

Another vote for being able to buy the ROM and a PDF version of the manual. While I do have original GBA games in my collection, I have no interest in ordering from Limited Run and I don’t really like these new releases on old consoles anyway, they just don’t look right and never feel like a proper original game to me. But I want to play this and want to pay for the privilege.

Re: Crypt Of The NecroDancer Returns From The Dead With "Huge New DLC"

GravyThief

I tried the demo for Cadence of Hyrule the other day. I must say I’m not a fan. I don’t have an issue with keeping the rhythm or anything, I just didn’t find it a particularly interesting concept or game mechanic to base a whole game around. Plus I didn’t think the music was that great either (other than the title screen), which for a game based around music isn’t ideal!

Re: Super Mario 'Mario Kart' LEGO Releasing In 2025

GravyThief

All they need to do it re-release the F1 set from the late 80s, but with Mario based mini figures instead, and a few weapon pieces. Job done! And it would look 10 times better than anything they come up with for Lego these days 🤣

(Yes I’m an old man who thinks Lego was better in the old days and doesn’t actually buy Lego anymore.)

Re: Balatro Back On Switch eShop In Europe With New Age Rating

GravyThief

Well thanks a lot PEGI. I bought this game when it was 3+, before you slapped an 18+ age rating on it. My 6 year old daughter played it twice and now she’s addicted to gambling. It’s Friday night, she should be in bed cuddling up to Puppy, but instead she’s out on the town hitting up the Casinos. Your tardiness has cost at least one life.

Re: Video: Nintendo Releases Two New Commercials For Princess Peach: Showtime!

GravyThief

I hope this is as easy and simple as all the previews are making out, and it’s really difficult to die. I want my two young daughters to be able to play this with as minimal input from me as possible.

The only game I’ve come across so far that does this sufficiently is Yoshi’s Crafted World with its Mellow Mode. All other ‘easy’ modes I find are still too easy to die on for them. And the easy mode characters on Mario Wonder don’t let you transform into elephants so my daughters don’t want to play as them 🤣

Re: Anniversary: Switch Turns Seven Today, With Over 11,000 Games On The eShop

GravyThief

I’ve had mine for less than a year. I’ve been very behind the curve since the Wii U, but also I was naively waiting for a price drop that hasn’t happened. They really should do one soon, it would give a final boost to sales before Switch 2.

I’ve got so many games in my backlog already (due to being so late to the party) that I won’t be getting a Switch 2 at launch. I’ll wait at least a year, maybe even for the inevitable OLED model if they don’t release with one. Then again, if Metroid Prime 4 is a launch title or launch window release, I’m sure I’ll be buying one much sooner 🤣

Re: UK Charts: Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Slips Down The Ladder To Third

GravyThief

It really is strange seeing Nintendo doing so well in the UK that a Mario vs Donkey Kong game gets the number 1 spot. I know it’s been like this for years now with the Switch, but I still find it very strange! I vividly remember the 2000s where PS2 dominated in the UK and GameCube was lucky to get one game in the top ten.
