I love Civ games and have never played an online match with any of them. Still this is a confusing decision given the ability to add cross play if the concern is Switch opponents won't be plentiful.
I still plan on getting this though as no online doesn't matter to me. I will wait to make sure it actually works before I purchase it though because it is 2K and they are not know for quality.....or even fixing broken games
was really hoping for the NES Baseball Stars to be included.......knowing it isn't means I will probably pass on this......still unsure, but that is the game I really wanted
Smash Bros isn't my thing, but my boys are very excited about the next installment. I think they would go crazy for a single player beat em up mode similar to what was in the Wii version. I'm sire the direct will be great regardless of what is announced.
I'd like to take the time to play many different games this weekend.......but kids and their activities will get in my way. Maybe late night I will find some time to start Dark Souls
I have a SNES Mini, I'd consider the NES but there aren't enough of the right games on it that I want. The N64 Mini would be worse. The games are tough to look at these days and they can't get what I consider to be the best games for it so as much as I loved my 64 I can't see a scenario where I would buy it. Now if they managed a Perfect Dark, Turok II, any of the THQ wrestling games, Golden Eye, Worms, Ogre Battle along with the 1st party titles I'd throw my money at it, but we all know those are mostly impossible
@Cobalt — There is something to Ristar's comment........when one son has something going on inside I let the other take the Switch but I'm less likely to let them take it to an outdoor sporting event and instead have them take the 3DS. My older son also has a long bus ride to school and I let him take the 3DS but not the Switch.
Myself, I play it 90% docked........I never did like handheld gaming
It's early failures that kind of work, like the power glove that lead to better tech over the years. You see something, see its potential and say yeah, it's rubbish but I can make it better. The joy-cons are an extension of the Wii remotes which are an extension of the power glove. All of which will help to inspire decent VR/AR controllers of the future
Some of it depends on pricing........I had a huge backlog on Wii U because I regularly bought 3rd party games for under $10. Switch games are holding their value more so I'm less likely to make an impulse buy
Big gaming weekend coming up. Wife is in Europe for a week and my boys are setting up some sort of game in Minecraft that they will destroy me at. Also digging into Banner Saga which took me the 1st half of the 1st game to get comfortable with but now that I'm rolling, is amazing. The boys will have other gaming plans in place for me on this cold and rainy day I'm sure as well! Enjoy the weekend my friends!
I don't remember which one I had, but it was a love hate relationship for me and that game. I really liked just about everything but I couldnt stand the screen to screen movement of it. Didn't make it very far as a result and sold it when a good offer came along
Well....I'll take the free 7 Days and then see where we sit. I'll get the Family Package eventually but if I can push it off 7 days for free and then maybe a few more school days where it isn't needed then my 1st year payment will last a little longer
This wasn't what I wanted it to be way back in the GC days, but most people loved it so I'm happy for the fans........thankfully, for me, Octopath Traveler exists
More options isn't a bad thing even if they are not the games we may want. WoF/Jeopardy & Hasbro Family games are fun games anyone can play and I'm sure my sons wiuld like to have both. Will I buy them.....probably not but it doesn't mean they don't add some value to the library. The sports one is, on the other hand, not a very good game so unless they improve it dramatically then I can't imagine it being anything more then $5 bargin bin fodder
@rjejr — There are quite a few GameCube games I'd love to see remade, remastered, HD versions of.......unfortunately most of them would never happen.......especially MVP 04.......still the best realistic baseball game to me.
Time Splitters 2 is seeming like a possability now thought so who knows.......I'd buy that one right away.
If Fire Emblem Three Houses does well enough we may see Path of Radiance get a remake like Echos for 3DS.
@BadWaluigi2 - I believe the pro controller is missing some of the IR Camera functionality......whether or not that matters to this game I don't know.
Edit: there is also the chance some of the games work off of the 2 single joycons working off one another.......I obviously don't know that, but there are legitimate reasons why just joycons is justified.....whether or not they are for SMP will depend on the game and the mini games it contains.
More options are always better though so Nintendo would have been better off allowing pro controller functionality even if it limited the mini games one could play
@Razer - so is it your belief that Nintendo should never have made an optional pro controller, or if they did, make it of lower quality with less tech inside so they can charge $19.99 like the wired off brands? Or should it have been loaded with the same tech as the joy cons and charged more for?
I bought my pro controller on sale for $45. It's a great controller that I prefer to use for most games. My sons prefer the Joycons and use them most of the time.
It is my opinion that Nintendo makes quality products and I myself haven't had to replace a controller since my original N64 analog stick broke so I do not feel the pro is overpriced.
I do however feel a BMW is overpriced vs other cars so I understand my opinion of price/quality/usefulness is mine alone and it's silly of me to tell you the pro isn't over priced.
Options are always nice......but pro controllers dont have the camera functionality, and most/all 3rd party controllers lack most of the joycon functions. This isn't surprising.
I really wish one of these shooter games (Splatoon, Fortnite, Paladins, Morphies) would support at least 2 player split screen........I don't mind waiting turns but I'd like some games that I can play together with people. If this had 2 or 4 player split screen I'd buy it now......as it sits I will wait and consider it sometime in the future.
This game looks silly fun and the creativity in design makes me want to play it. Maybe a patch or some added content will twist my arm into a purchase. 2 player split screen would have gotten $30 out of me easily.
I'm not sure a Time Splitters II HD would be as loved now as when I played it long ago on the GC but Id like to find out. It is the last FPS I really loved. Granted I dont really play them anymore so I'm sure Ive missed out on some goodnones but the CODs of the world soured me on the genre
For $20/30 a year I'll get it. Nintendo continues to make games I want to play. I can support those efforts and play some NES games in the process and I'm ok with the price.
@Klunk23 I keep holding out hope that PoR and RD get re-releases. I thought with 3 Houses coming in February maybe they would give them an HD port treatment and sell them for Switch for an Oct or Nov release but that doesn't seem likely.......I can keep dreaming though
Well I've done the math and a ton of games is roughly 3514 games which happens to be the half life of 1 oz of plutonium 2.........Half-Life 2 confirmed
Also don't check the math or science behind my statement
I'm not saying I think he is lying........but as a parent of a kid who really likes Blue Moon ice cream.....I'm guessing the poop is more green........or this is some blue food coloring on levels unknown of in the known universe

Re: Nintendo Is Currently Recruiting For A New 3D Legend Of Zelda Game
I wouldn't mind a sequel to BotW. Maybe Zelda finds a way to send them back in time to try and stop Gannon before he destroys the kingdom.
BotW is my favorite Zelda behind OoT and I could definitely find the time to re save it's beautiful world.

The only issue we've had thus far is an occasional stutter in frames. It hasn't cost us any wins or loses but we also aren't very good at it.
Hopefully they fix the issues players are having soon to make it a better experience

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct?
I'm not a Smash fan and still thought it was excellent. Makes me wonder what would have had to happen to make the 6% happy?
Bet we get a general direct 2nd week of September to layout the online details and announce anything coming by end of year.
I'm also wondering if the Dark Souls delay is just them trying to change to the trilogy or if it is more sinister
Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Online Service Will Launch In Second Half Of September
