This is without a doubt going to show what the new game mode is, and I just really, really hope it's a damn good single player mode of some sort, along the lines of Subspace Emissary.

I want the leak to be confirmed fake (I don't want Shadow in my perfect Smash Bros. game!).
Aside from that, I really do want details on a new Single Player Mode, and maybe a new playable Zelda character.

A solid Stage Builder mode. I would take this over thirty new characters. Seriously.

Smash Bros isn't my thing, but my boys are very excited about the next installment. I think they would go crazy for a single player beat em up mode similar to what was in the Wii version. I'm sire the direct will be great regardless of what is announced.

I want to see Banjo Kazooie confirmed as fighter, and for that to lead to an instant N64 Classic announcement... with a wide selection of Rare games including GoldenEye!! Hey! I can dream...!

I get the appeal of new characters, but the roster is so good as it is already that more game modes would add a lot more to the game than more characters. Here’s to hoping that blurred out mode is a story mode, or at least something good that we can put a lot of hours into

I'm confident there will be a decent single player element in some form so I'm not too concerned about that. For me it's all about the fighters, they are the stars of the show. We have already got an amazing line u and any additions would be the icing on a very exciting cake.

Some new Mega Man related content would be nice.

So many people complaining about this being a smash specific direct. This is way less than smash wiiu had. This is the third and final direct. Nintendo has done normal directs as well so whats the problem. If you don't like smash, don't watch, if you want the Nintendo direct that covers everything, watch that.

I wanted to choose two - more fighters because that's exciting and more game modes because I like single player modes and although I never played the Subspace thingy, I watched some of it and it looked good!

I don't really care, Smash is multiplayer first and foremost and I don't do multiplayer. Why did I even open this article? So I could make a garbage post right here.

A strong singleplayer mode would be the absolute best thing for me and would take me from "I'll get it eventually" to instant pre-order.

Modes and a demo, would be nice to see if the netcode is any better this time. I like For Fun more than For Glory but the lag in For Fun was horrific for Smash 4.

@Grumblevolcano Same here. I got Smash 4 this summer and played For Fun a few times, it was like playing a game of checkers.

I voted for more fighters, but I'm already so sold on the game, I just want a demo to pass the time to release.

Only things I want are Banjo&Kazooie as a fighter and a single player/co-op mode just like Subspace. Don't really care for any of the other characters( Seriously who'd be exited for chorus kids or geno? Not me thats for sure.).To each their own and only time will tell.

ISAAC. That's all. Us Golden Sun fans have been trying so hard for so long. I'd he ends up being an assist trophy I'll be insulted, Sakurai knew our hopes have been high and he even went as far as to include a hint in a tweet. If he was going to let us down the polite thing to do would have been to show the trophy from the beginning.

I wouldn't go as far as being insulted, but I just REALLY hope he makes it! If anything, because I want some more brilliant music from this franchise (and including Weyard in the last one....wtf!)

I want to hear that we're starting with about 10 fighters initially and need to unlock every one else. Give a bit of incentive to actually play. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch gave me zero reason to keep playing (apart from for fun, eww) and I don't want that again! Missed out on the last couple of Smash iterations so not sure what the script has been with those but... yeah... give me incentive to play!

Pink Gold Peach and Ice Climbers would be my wish.

I voted game modes but honestly a price drop on Switch would be the number one want. And a device to slow down time so I have more time to game...

More Xenoblade characters and story mode would be nice.

I've never played a Smash game owing to the fact the Switch is my first Nintendo console since the SNES. Have all the previous Smash titles had this level of reveal? Are there ever any surprises ?

Nintendo is going revealed that Waluigi is in the game, and the crowd went crazy... not knowing this was all planned. Take away something then give it back, it will tastes so sweet.

If this game doesn’t have a fun 1 player mode I won’t be getting it. I’ve no interest in playing this game online every now and then and getting destroyed by better players.

@frabbit I know what you mean but MARIO Kart had loads of unlockable karts and the extras. Seriously loads.

I know they could have locked some characters or tracks but still there were bucket loads of unlockables

@frabbit Smash 4 kept the achievement systems from brawl. So you got all the characters and stages from the start, but there was plenty of costumes, extra moves, trophies and music to unlock.

At least, that's how I remember it. It kept me playing for weeks, so it did work eventually ^_^

@garfreek I know I'm petty about it haha it's just after this Smash game I'll probably be too busy with a family and a job to be very competitive anymore and I've always dreamed of playing as my favorite character. It's my own fault for letting myself get excited but I can't help it.

@garfreek there were a ton of characters and a few stages to unlock in Smash 4.

Subspace Emissary 2, with support for 4 player co-op. A new Zelda character would be nice, otherwise there's no one "missing" for me.

I don't want another direct, we've seen all we need to see, it's Smash Brothers, we know how it works and we want the game, use that direct time to show us something new.

I don't want to see new characters, would much prefer them to be a surprise as you're playing the game.

I'm pretty happy with the confirmed list of fighters... some solid info on the single player wouldn't go amiss!

@garfreek only by playing a certain amount of matches, wasn't hard and didn't take long. I do kind of miss how there were certain conditions in Melee.

Why would you want content you’ve paid for locked behind a play timer? That’s absolutely insane.

If you need such a reason to come back to Mario kart and smash then perhaps those games just aren’t really your thing?

What I want is for these directs to be on the weekend. I gotta work from 7 to 2:30.

Excited for the game of course, but I wanna see what other characters get in. And other stages as well.

Oh, and better online matches where you don’t get stuck in taunt party matches all the time.

I understand the critique of too much Smash coverage. For a super fan like myself, I don't mind it, but it's also not doing anything to change my mind - I was always going to buy Smash day 1. For the rest of the world, I understand why they would want to see something else. And online that doesn't suck would be awesome =P

For me, I pretty much just want to see Banjo Kazooie confirmed and some sort of single player mode. Otherwise, while I can always appreciate more characters/stages, I've seen enough and don't really need any more. I'd like to see new ways to play the game.

I'm mostly excited to play Smash online with friends - if that part of the game looks good, then I'll definitely be joining the fight!

@luke88 haha fair point man and since they've announced all the characters (or most at least) I suppose it would piss off a majority to hide them away. I just think it encourages people to play better - as in not just with the one character but changing to try new fighters as they become available. It also doesn't have to be locked behind play time. There are a million criteria that could have to be met to unlock a fighter.

I like unlockables that substantively change the possibilities of the game - costumes don't do that for me and I just wouldn't keep plugging away in order to get Mario a metal suit or whatever. No one complains when they can't jump to the last level in Mario without getting enough stars or shines or moons or whatever it is these days.

Also, you're not wrong about Mario Kart not being the game for me. I enjoyed the Switch game to an extent but pied it off after about 15 hours. Smash is a different beast though, I will plow countless hours in regardless of the initial fighter lineup, I'd just like it better if we had less to begin with.

I’m fairly confident this will be a massive blowout of information, leaving very little to the imagination. 40 minutes is quite a lengthy Direct for a single game.

I just want street fighter style endings for the characters in classic mode.

I want to see a really out of nowhere character reveal!

@frabbit haha, yeah different strokes I guess. Am 100% with you as far as wishing people would try out all the characters - was dull playing against someone online that just used the same character over and over on the wiiu/3ds versions.

I do complain about that stuff in Mario, when post game content is locked behind acquiring a certain number of collectibles. I hate that. 😂

I want to see the spike mechanics that don't kill you on hit. Also, the simple controller options. I like the gamecube nostalgia and all, but played best - believe it or not - with a horizontal wiimote.

If I'm to buy this game, I need it to not destroy controllers and have simple control mechanisms.

Loved that whole announcement though. Couldn't have expected more from it really. That is a real shiiiii* load of content.

I think Nintendo has milked this game enough. Those that want it will buy it. Those that don't won't.

Of course it will make lots of money, the game and all the over priced merchandise that goes with it. But if your not into Smash Bros it will be a very Nintendoless Christmas.🎅
