Gearbox Publishing (who you may know as the studio behind the Borderlands series and *ahem* Aliens: Colonial Marines) has been getting in on the third-party publishing act as of late, and its latest partnership will see it bring The Banner Saga Trilogy to retail with a physical edition.
All three entries in the Norse-inspired tactical, turn-based RPG are available now individually on the Nintendo Switch eShop, but a collected trilogy version will be following suit later in the summer. There's no exact date on the boxed edition just yet, but we imagine it'll hit stores sooner rather than later.
Which entry in the Banner Saga have you enjoyed the most? Or are you waiting until the full trilogy launches in one package before picking it up? Share your thoughts with us below...

I've been suspecting a trilogy release would come, so have avoided paying much attention to whether or not I want the individual games on the eshop. This news pleases me.
This is the news I've been waiting for.
Yup. I held off on the digital games in anticipation of a physical trilogy (not because I don't want digital, but the games took up quite a bit of space, especially all 3 added together).
I am ALL. OVER. THIS.
Unlike others I simply forgot about those games but a physical release may not be that easy to forget.
These were on the back burner and maybe this is the time to give them a proper look depending on the release price. They're beautiful games!
Almost bought this release for Xbox. Glad I waited it out. This type of game works best on Switch for me.
Backlog patience ftw. It shall be GameFly'd.
Hadn't Stoic announced that they won't come out physical?
I have these on the PC but I've never really been able to get into them. The art is wonderful of course, as is the world building, but the SRPG mechanics are quite basic and limited. Compared to say, Disgaea, they're rather rudimentary and simplistic games.
I was holding off since they get pretty cheap on steam but this will get me to overpay .
Getting hard to find excuses for not playing this anymore.
Banner saga 1 was excellent, downloaded 2 but sadly it is in my backlog queue at the moment as there is so much goodness on the Switch
I was waiting for physical edition so it's a day 1 purchase for sure.
@BensonUii they're pretty good games.
Will definitely consider this version over the rest.
So glad I didn't buy any of these yet. This is for me for sure! Even at $60 that's still cheaper I believe then buying them all separate on the shop.
@gcunit with me it’s that 3 might suck or have a terrible end.
So I didn’t want to get hooked if this becomes the indie version of Mass Effect, lol.
So this collection interests me greatly.
@JaxonH this is me exactly. I have been 80% digital on the Switch, everything barring games bigger than (roughly) 3gb in total. The only thing stopping me investing in Banner Saga thus far has been the hearty file sizes. Well no longer.
This is why I'll hold for at least 1,2 years before I buy famous(ish) indie games. Can't keep buying games just to see them on retail in a couple of months, it's frustrating...
I've been passing games on eShop to get 'em later when they get "the retail treatment".
file size and price point?
Yup,this was inevitable. I'll definitely be picking this up.
Great news! This is what i was hoping for when first brought to the switch digitally.
Great news, I held off buying them for this! Glad I didn't make a mistake on waiting
This is great. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for this.
