Re: Nintendo's Market Capitalisation Overtakes Sony's Following Switch Success

Gerbwmu

Sonydoooooomed.........just kidding.....

Nintendo does well with portable devices and the market sees the Switch as that. Until they hit a lull in sales and demand expect the stocks to inch up. A good time to sell would probably be right before their investors meeting in January, until then it should continue to rise or maintain it's price. The investor meeting will probably cause a fall because holiday sales won't meet the unrealistic expectations of the day traders

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Defends Nintendo's Indie Support and AM2R Policy

Gerbwmu

Nintendo values their property more so then any other gaming company. That is why sales are few and far between and limited and is why games in stores don't get the 3 month to $19.99 discount that most other games get. This is part of that valuing of their products and properties. Reggie always fumbles over his own words but really, no matter what he said, there would be people complaining about their free game being taken away from them......which is exactly the point of them taking it down

Re: PES 2018 is Skipping Nintendo Switch, But Konami Will Consider Future Releases

Gerbwmu

3rd parties will succeed on Switch if they are A) Honest B) Deliver C) Be Creative. Stop making annualized games for Nintendo.....well Just Dance keep making that cause it sells I guess.....but be honest, we aren't making X game because Switch is a unique gaming option that is different from consoles and PC, instead our vision is "whatever" and we love the system so we plan on bringing 1 (or what ever the number is) game a year to Switch along with DLC periodically to keep our sports franchises, shooters, RPG's, sim games, whatever fresh. Here is COD switch, and GTA Switch, and AC Switch, and FF Switch , even if they are remasters of older titles that never made a Nintendo Console with some added content they would present an option and build a fanbase within the community.

Ehh I'm ranting, but still if PES18 was announced for Switch and Konami said it was the only PES they were planning on making for the system, but would produce Paid DLC annually for rosters, I think they would be surprised by the sales. Of course they game would have to work well and they would have to follow through on what they promised

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Looks Set for Late November Release

Gerbwmu

If I can find time to play this, I'd like to try it but it's hard to find time to donate to this style of game. Zelda took me 2 months of 30 mins to an hour, at a time playing to finish and I ignored a lot of things I should have been doing to play it.

Who am I kidding I'll probably buy it and ignore more important things

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

Gerbwmu

Thought it was a really good E3. Very excited about a few games that were announced, some decent surprises, and what appears to be a solid 1st party lineup for the rest of 2017 and well into 2018. I'm sure there will be more announced too.

I was disappointed by the DLC for BotW, was hoping for something better, but just means I will save $20. I was also hoping for a little more 3rd party support announced, but if the Switch keeps selling like it is, we will get some more 3rd party titles.

Over all I thought it was excellent though and was very happy and the tree house segments are getting a lot more polished and entertaining

Re: Talking Point: Five Key Areas Nintendo Must Get Right at E3 2017

Gerbwmu

I hope they stay away from ARMS at least in the 25 minute spotlight. I expect Oddessy, FEWarriors, XC2 and maybe Rabbids V Mario if it isn't featured in Ubisoft's presentation. I'm hoping for 3-5 major 3rd party games being shown off in the spotlight that are "unknown" as of now. A couple teasers of whats coming in 2018 and maybe end with a Indie hype reel with 1 final big 2 minute trailer of ???? To end the spotlight.

For the treehouse, I just want them to be themselves, have fun and show off everything E3 for a couple days.

The tournaments just need to be well organized and hiccup free.....if they are watchable then they will be a nice change of pace for the event

Re: Press Release Suggests E3 Nintendo Spotlight Will be About 30 Minutes

Gerbwmu

30 minutes is probably enough when 25 will be spent on Switch.......3DS just had it's swan song with S&M Ultra and I cant see much new info being given for the handheld as it nears the end.

I know.....3DS has plenty of life, 60 mil users, Nintendo won't abandon blah blah........but I think it is happening and E3 will confirm the direction Nintendo is headed and it seems like that direction is Switch focused

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Director Says the Game’s Design Could Become the New Standard

Gerbwmu

Great game and I completed the story in about 55 hours beating the 4 divine beasts, getting all memories, but only getting about 60 seeds.....I started working hard to find them but at about 30 and having an expanded inventory, I just kinda quit trying for them.

I would like to see a continuation of this style, I'm sure Nintendo will expand and improve upon the formula and I can't wait to see what they do next with the series. This was my favorite Zelda title surpassing the 1st and OoT

Re: Editorial: An Empty Box is $5 and a Dock is $89 - Welcome to Switchonomics

Gerbwmu

A lot of things go into pricing more then just, a Switch cost X therefore accessories should cost percentage of X. What kind of additional sales will the sale provide, what are the costs of manufacturing less items with individual boxes, what is the cost to me as a company vs only producing 1 item. Economics and finance combined with 18 different marketing graphs give them a number. If it's selling to their expectations then they did well pricing it....any over selling or under selling means they screwed something up.

The only thing I'm not willing to purchase is a 2nd dock for $80......to me they priced everything else pretty well. I don't need an extra joy con charger, pro controller is amazing especially at the $60 I paid and a 64gb micro SD card pillaged from an old phone is probably more then I need.

Re: Nintendo Switch Standalone Dock Goes Up for Pre-Order on Amazon UK

Gerbwmu

@Octane - you can't look at profit just for this item though.....you have to look at it vs the profit they make off the switch hardware and the adjustments they make to manufacturing when separating this from the normal package. Then the profit and availability of all items have to make it worth it to Nintendo to manufacture this as a stand alone item. Profit grab......absolutely, but it is something they probably only want to sell in limited quantities right now to make sure they can manufacturer enough switch hardware packages to meet current high demand.

I don't like the way I typed that but in other words.....I don't wanna sell 300K docks if I have to reduce the number of switches I can manufacture and sell by 100K.....so I price it as a luxury item to control the amount sold

Re: Poll: Who Is Your Favourite ARMS Fighter?

Gerbwmu

I'd probably use the Mummy or Ninjara or Kid Cobra. My sons seen the Direct and are begging for this game. Not sure we will buy it though. At least not for a while.

I'm not a fighter fan usually so I doubt I will play it much anyway

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Director and Producer Leave Message For Fans in Official Guide

Gerbwmu

Love the game. Wondering, since they already have the engine, if we may get a MM type situation and get another Switch Zelda game in 2 or 3 years. I wouldn't mind maybe going back in time to try and avoid the 100 years of destruction and seeing less ruin, or maybe that is the DLC.

I know the "dungeons" are a sore spot for some, but I liked the quick challenge of the Shrines.....for someone who can't devote hours at a time to the game, it is much easier to keep the flow of the game going in 30 min chunks then constantly saving in a dungeon and coming back to the same over and over again.

Re: Italian Discontinuation of the NES Mini Seals Its Fate

Gerbwmu

@BLP_Software - could be right. Definitely could have been a loss leader to keep them relevant for a few months. But these plug and play devices have been around, most notably Sega and Atari. Be interesting to hear what they say at the investors meeting about it.......if anything.

Re: Italian Discontinuation of the NES Mini Seals Its Fate

Gerbwmu

@k8sMum - just a hunch.........Nintendo is not fond of over saturation of their markets, but something here seems off and considering how easy this should be to pump out and sell, either the cost isn't worth the profit, or manufacturing has issues.....otherwise, why discontinue it until you can actually find one in a store. My guess is they are having issues with the manufacturer but won't say so for professional courtesy

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 12th April - Focused on Splatoon 2, ARMS and More

Gerbwmu

We are getting confirmation of Mother 3, a New F-Zero, Metroid Prime HD trilogy, a teaser for Metroid Prime 4, Star Tropics Switch, Golden Sun Switch, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokemon Stars, and VC for all Nintendo published games from NES through Wii available on the eshop immediately after the direct with all Wii and Wii U digital purchases transferring to your switch........and you can order customized carts of vc games for $34.99......OMG this is going to be the greatest day EVER!!!!!!!!

but I'm keeping my expectations in check............

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 12th April - Focused on Splatoon 2, ARMS and More

Gerbwmu

I don't expect surprises, more of a teaser direct before E3. Probably throw in a few things new but nothing that will be jaw dropping. I assume any giant bombs Nintendo has will be dropped at E3. But they need to do something pre E3 to keep the momentum going so here it is.

I suspect release date around E3 for ARMS
More info on Switch online functionality
4 new things in Splatoon2 shown off
Indie sizzle reel and 1 new unknown eshop game featured
3DS portion with Oasis, Pikmin, and FE echos plus something eshop related.
End on an expanded trailer for something we already know

Re: Video: Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Development Team Talk Over Their Favourite Moments

Gerbwmu

I'm partial to the very beginning, the feeling of being overwhelmed by the adventure and the world and kinda wondering what next and why.

As you progress, and the controls become instinctive and events unfold, the world starts to feel smaller and less scary so to speak. Not that it isn't still full of wonder, but it feels more manageable. Maybe an odd opinion, but I like the uncertainty of the start.

Re: Taiwanese Report Suggests Nintendo Expects To Hit 20 Million Switch Sales In Year One

Gerbwmu

We will know a lot more after April 1st and more so after the financial meeting in mid April. I doubt Nintendo is going to over produce though. If anything they will be more conservative with their approach because of the Wii U sales and the stock they never really got rid of until the end when no one wanted it anymore.

The Switch is designed around "special editions". If they over produce now that takes away from the 100 variations they can easily make over the course of Switch's lifetime.

I think they have built this machine to be upgraded too. I think Switch as a brand will be like DS and 3DS with multuple upgrades, but still 1 generation. We shall see though.
