Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?

Gerbwmu

I would love a weekend of nothing but gaming, but those are few and far between. Hopefully I'll have a chance to play EarthLock some and if I have extra time I may play some Splatoon2 solo missions and maybe even some Odyssey. I'd like to devote more time too both since Ive barely played either

Re: Psyonix Reveals Details Of The New Graphics Update For Rocket League

Gerbwmu

@BarFooToo - ARMS Reminds me more of the 16bit era boxing games then a fighting game and I think that difference is what throws off the fighting gamer crowd. Probably why I enjoy it more then say a Street Fighter or Tekken.....but I was never a fighter fan.

I wouldn't have bought it but the littlest played the trial and fell in love with it. Now his brother and all their friends want to play it together all the time and I think it gets more play then Splatoon2 which surprises me as much as they played the 1st Splatoon.

I think Splatoon2 suffers from no split screen. As more friends get Switches I'm sure Splatoon will make a comeback but for now Rocket League and ARMS with the ability to play all together are the games getting the love.

Re: Review: Earthlock (Switch eShop)

Gerbwmu

@ricklongo - on the kickstsrter message board they are asking you to contact them if you haven't got your Switch code in your backerkit yet. I was also waiting, contacted them and they got it to me this morning. Can't wait to play it tonight.

Re: Third-Party Nintendo Switch Docks Could Be Bricking Consoles

Gerbwmu

I've never trusted the quality of 3rd party accessories. Lots of Christmas and birthday presents over my life have failed miserably because people figure controllers are all the same.

I waited for the Nintendo Dock to go on clearance at my local store before I grabbed a 2nd. I'd like a 3rd but these off brand dock issues may keep it from going on sale again anytime soom.

Re: Surprise! There's A New Nintendo Direct Coming, And It's Due Tomorrow

Gerbwmu

I don't think we will get many surprises for Switch. I think they are slow playing it right now to set up the 20 Mill sales in FY2019. No need to hype up the gaming crowd until after April when the new year hits officially. Especially when they destroyed 1st year estimated numbers.

3DS will have some surprises I think though. Not much really happening on it currently and I think they will have a few 3rd party surprises and maybe a couple ports or remasters to make the year seem fuller.

Sometime closer to E3 I expect a pretty full direct with a lot of info and then a huge E3 Direct full of surprises to push Switch Sales into over drive.

Or Prime 4 will be announced tomorrow with a release date of Friday and our collective heads will explode.........

Re: Soapbox: What Happened To All The Great Baseball Games On Nintendo Consoles?

Gerbwmu

Ken Griffy Presents is my favorite baseball game of all time followed by MVP05 on game cube and Baseball Stars on NES. RBI 87 on NES was pretty good as was the Power Pro series on Wii. I wish Nintendo would do an updated version of Ken Griffy keeping the cartoon graphics and difficulty.......because you were pretty much destined to lose every 4th game no matter how good you were. I think in my best season I went 120-42 and most sport games once you get good it is rare to lose to the AI.

Re: Feature: Unbinding The Fall Part 2 with Developers Over The Moon

Gerbwmu

I really enjoyed The Fall. Took me a while to get the hang of it and I probably restarted it 3 or 4 times but once the game clicked, I finished it in 1 sitting. For whatever reason I couldn't figure out the 1st couple of puzzles.

I would like to give the 2nd a run through but I've got a few things to finish 1st

Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2018

Gerbwmu

It's an impressive list so far that is missing a lot of titles........so really there should be 5 or 6 more retail releases at least that we know are confirmed for 2018 not to mention Pokemon which is slated as sometime 2018.

I have a feeling a lot more will be announced before and through E3.

Whether or not I want them is another story but hopefully a Good FE, maybe a stab at Dark Souls, Octopath Traveler and an EarthLock Switch release that I was a backer for means 3-4 games to keep me occupied all year. That's about all I can get through anyway.

Re: Nintendo Is Announcing "A New Way To Play" Later Today

Gerbwmu

Lots of comments so maybe this is already been stated, but Nintendo already talked more motion and HD games this year, I bet they are going to announce games that center on motion control, HD rumble and touch screen. Probably smaller indie type experiences from Nintendo that will be more active in gameplay

Re: Nintendo Reiterates That It's Not Interested In Virtual Reality Or 4K Support

Gerbwmu

Funny the Switch would be the best vr on the market considering the joy cons great tech, that it could slide into a headset and all of it would be wire free........but I think they are right to avoid VR considering many people can't handle it without motion sickness.

4K is different, they will have to keep up on some level but $500 machines still struggle with it and consistent frame rates so I understand the apprehension of Nintendo of pushing into biggest fastest best tech

Re: Switch Has Beaten The PlayStation 2's Year-One Sales In Japan

Gerbwmu

It will be interesting to see what is coming in 2018.......if 20 mill is really the target then that seems to point to an Animal Crossings or Pokemon game coming in late 2018 along with a few other surprises.

Regardless, keeping pace in Japan with PS2 is a remarkable feat, now they need to keep it moving

Re: Amazon Switch Game Placeholders Add More Weight To January Nintendo Direct Rumours

Gerbwmu

a January Direct was almost all but guaranteed once we escaped December without 1. I'm sure Amazon knows games and announcements are on the way and pre entered some info to make it easier to get the preorders set as the announcements come.

Anyway, I think Nintendo is now on a schedule of sorts. Big reveal Direct in January, couple smaller PR or Directs pre E3, E3 fun and then a late September Direct to round off the holiday season. This is what we are going to get for the foreseeable future.

Re: Nintendo Switch Continues to Dominate in Japan

Gerbwmu

@Agramonte - I didn't state that thought very well either, my point was it is data you pay for, because they don't pay for it, they don't want to report on the rumors before hand or the leaks or reports of others.

Yes great at reviews for every Nintendo system.......although the amount of Switch games seems to have them struggling to keep up as if late

Re: Nintendo Switch Continues to Dominate in Japan

Gerbwmu

@Agramonte - Not that I can speak for NLife, but NPD isn't officially released, most of what you see is rumors or leaks and of the articles I've seen, NLife usually does a report when Nintendo releases an official statement pertaining to the NPD results.

Now NLife obviously reports on rumors and leaks about hardware and software so.......maybe a moot point but regardless I think they are pretty fair with their coverage considering it is a fan site
