Looks great. First one was average but I enjoyed it. Looking forward to this one!
If it reviews well I might get it. Need more racing Sims on Nintendo systems.
If it's good, I'll buy it, love a good arcade racer. With Outrun, Virtua Racing, Xenon Racer, Horizon Chase Turbo, Grip and Redout on the way we're soon to be spoiled for choice when it comes to arcade racers, after being starved for so long on Nintendo consoles. All are different enough to warrant a purchase though.
I never played the original Gear Club but from what I've read, it was decent but its mobile roots were obvious. One of the main criticisms I read was the races were far too short. With this being a Switch exclusive hopefully they've changed that.
Car lineup is still super boring for the most part.
It seems that the previous game was decent at its core but held back by its mobile origins. Hopefully the fact that this was designed with an actual console in mind will help the quality come through, as it looks pretty decent so far.
This looks like a PS360 with a touch of IOS/Android...
In 2018, it's just impossible to play that kind of thing if you have already played games like Forza... :/
@Cobalt Yea I LOVE Forza on Switch - have no idea how they got it at 60fps 1080!
@pbb76
This is the typical answer of a boy who don't understand that it's possible to have several systems at home... Insane ! o_O
The first one was halfway decent but lacked in creativity on races and tracks. I hope the sequel is better, but I guess the upcoming Xenon Racer will openly beat this up.
60fps?
how long has gear club been on mobile?
@Cobalt "Boy" lol... what about the people that haven't got multiple systems? Its not fair to compare games cross system. Should Forza be marked down because you can't take it on a bus and play it? No? Well why not if we are comparing cross systems.
Of course FH4 is better, but on the Switch there are few 'sims'. FWIW Gear.Club isn't THAT bad, but was grossly overpriced for what it was. I had a decent amount of fun with it though, so definitely going to be keeping an eye on "2".
@N8tiveT3ch Years! Is F2P though, but pretty decent for what it is. Thats what made the £35 Switch version so hard to stomach.
And again loading time will be longer than race time. No thanks
There really is no competition on the Switch as of yet and I quite enjoyed the first game, so count me in.
@pbb76
Always the same sentence over and over and over...
I can go outside with my game, I can take the bus/train/whatever with my game etc...
The reality : I NEVER saw even 1 person with a Switch outside.
Since the launch I was in France, in Germany, in Belgium, in Luxemburg and in Italy... I never met 1 dude with a Switch outside... LOL
@Cobalt I've played Forza but I'm still interested in this.
@Matthew010 You own an XBOX ONE with Forza or you had an XBOX or a 360 with an old Forza ?
@Cobalt Horizon 3 on the One S.
@Cobalt
Please control your lols and your same old boring negativity. I have multiple systems, I play Forza all the time and I enjoy and play the Switch outside. You find others predictable, yet you cannot see exactly that in yourself.
@Cobalt I see the switch being played out and about almost weekly. Restaurants, malls, Starbucks, people playing in cars, literally all over. Adults, kids, even saw an elderly man playing Zelda one time.
Okay i want this franchise to turn into Nintendo's Forza/Gran Turismo.
Defo count me in!!!
@Matthew010 Wow, respect to you then ! I'm serious.
@geox30 You ask me to control my lols ? May I ask you to control your wishes ?
@redd214 Wow, I'd like to see that in Europe because I suppose you live in the states, isn't it ?
The big question is if this game is a mobile version port... I would really like to have a proper racing sim on switch
@Cobalt I tried to play it today at the lunch break at the park but couldn't cope with the stares of the people around me looking at the "ufo"... That or I have played 30min of XC2 on the park. You can choose
Edit P.S: in London, UK, Europe
Still no in-car view?
I'm interested though, if it improves on the first one and gets closer to a Test Drive type experience.
Test Drive Unlimited on Switch, now that would be cool! I'm a big fan of TDU1 and 2. Come on, Eden Games, you know you want it!
@Balta666 Really cool to know that because I swear that I never met one single dude with a Switch outside... maybe I'm not lucky enough or never at the right place... ?
No real online was the main flaw with the first one for me!
Load times suck in the first game to a point that i get bored playing it....hope this gets addresssed for 2
@Cobalt I live in a tiny town and regularly see people on their Switch, especially in places like hairdressers when they are waiting. Meh doesn't matter, can dress it up either way.
@sqbboyPOLAND totally agree!
@Cobalt
Not everyone plays it "outside".
People bring it with them and play at work (I play for hours every single Saturday and Sunday I work). People bring it to friends and families' houses. People play it when their car is getting an oil change (I've done this).
Statistical studies show roughly 2/3 of all Switch owners use it in handheld mode. 1/3 use it exclusively in handheld mode.
So it really doesn't matter what you've personally observed or haven't observed. People DO use it in handheld mode (the majority, in fact) and therefore people ARE excited to have games on a hybrid system, whether you want to accept that fact or not.
On a side note, Speaking of racing games I would absolutely love it if there was some kind of San Francisco Rush reboot/spiritual successor. I want to drive around a big city and soar through the air pulling stunts and race across rooftops collecting things.
@Balta666 it's a new game built for switch. Mobile version doesn't exist
@JaxonH
I understand but don't get me wrong, I never say that it doesn't exist... ^^ I personally use my Switch only in docked mode (I mean 99% of the time) and I totally understand that other people can play on it 99% of their time in handheld mode...
Thanx for the statistics. ^^
No Mazda?
@Cobalt maybe because you are not paying attention...
@Frendo Dude, just do what I did.... (Sees Cobalt with his negativity as usual, looks at the ignore button, and sub-consciously move one's finger over it.
@kobashi100 good to hear but do we know if it will also be on mobiles?
Like the first game, which I liked, they’re filling a big gap in the Switch library! Can’t understand why EA wouldn’t consider a need for speed port!
Was there a mobile version of Gear.Club 2? I enjoyed (and still play) the first game on Switch, but the tracks felt a little short since they were designed for mobile gaming first. I'm hoping that if Gear.Club 2 is designed for consoles first, the tracks will be a bit lengthier.
@Cobalt Stop trolling man, you must know you´re not funny anymore. You OBIOUSLY don´t like Switch, never did. Why then you keep coming here...?
@Balta666 It´s not. The first one was previously released on smartphones, but this one is Switch exclusive, which is why we may get excited. I really hope it turns out being a pretty good racing game.
@the_beaver I like the Switch, I just don't like what this year was in terms of games proposition.
I'm not a fanboy that's all...
I got the first one it was good but lacking in parts however I will get the second nice to have a driving game on Switch.
@Cobalt I've seen a Switch in the wild once I think, know what you mean though, I used to see the Game Boy and DS line out there more often. Its larger and more expensive though, so maybe people are worried about loss / damage.
Mobile racing games, I cant think of many good ones to be honest, 3DS Ridge Racer was OK, and the PSP ones were good. Horizon Chase Turbo was pretty fun, I think that's on the switch at some point. This looks a bit uninspired to me, but maybe it will play well.
@Ristar24 I think you made an interesting point with the expensiver price... Never thought that way but it makes perfect sense...
@baller98 and you would think that being the Switch is doing so well that EA would’ve jumped in by now! Crazy...
@Nickster076 Ok Sim lite. It's more then an arcade racer but not up there with a full on racing sim
@Cobalt I was in London over the weekend and I brought my Switch to play while travelling. My son brought and played his when travelling to France back in January. I was at a family event over the Summer and there was no less than five Switch being played.
@Cobalt Yep, if I had a Switch I wouldnt carry it about. GBA, 3DS and Vita are my traveling systems, though I do think the types of games I want to play hand held are quite different to those I want to play on a home console anyway. Arcade style games such as this may be the exception, though again this looks somewhat lacking in personality, though it could play well. I do really enjoy the racing game genre done well, something like Daytona USA or SEGA Rally would be good hand held.
@Cobalt
well you're trolling 'lite' isn't better.
the switch runs about ps3/360 so i'm not sure why you're all hurr durr about it. enjoy your xbx or whatever; i'm sure there are xbox sites to visit.
@Ristar24 I think we like the same type of racing goodness !
Sega Rally 2 is my all time favorite, arcade and Dreamcast !
I just want more frames per second! Racing games are almost always unplayable when I use my smart TV to boost the smoothness as it appears (using the frame interpolation, dejudder, or motion smoothening feature of the TV) to my eyes up to 60 fps. The input lag just doesn't work with racing and turning and drifting and such. So please include a high performance mode like Fire Emblem Warriors did!!! If I could take games down to 600p in docked mode and get a mostly stable 60fps I would do it every time!
@Cobalt not everyone has the bucks to have more then 1 console.
So if this is a way for these people to enjoy racing games cause they only have a switch, then let them, no need to list games on other consols
@OorWullie outrun??
@Cobalt I too, every day play Switch on my commute to and from work. Also London, UK.
I have an Xbox one, PS4 and a Switch bought in that order. I love games. I especially love Forza Horizon over the first 3 games I dropped a combined 3-400 hours. However what is very much lacking this gen is average or rough diamond driving games (even just any games complete lack of mid tier games of all genres) as much as I love Horizon I loved Blur and Driver San Francisco on the 360 more. I thoroughly enjoyed the first couple of WRC games. Even liked Dirt Showdown. Can a sequel to a mobile game on the Switch compare to a AAA title backed by Microsoft dropping the 4th instalment in the series? No. Could it still be fun? Possibly.
Im excited for this, enjoyed the first one alot.
And yeah, I also take my Switch with me everywhere I go.
I will definitely get it.
EA is a joke. Looking forward to GCU2, had some fun with GCU.
Hope that they did not just show us ps4 footage of GRIP instead of real Switch footage.
On portability - I used to take my 3DS with me as often as I could for the streetpasses, but never played it in public.
I've taken Switch on holiday, but just to play in the hotel/B&B room. What portability means to me (and this is a massive, massive plus) is that I can play on the TV in the living room, and very simply continue to play later on the TV in the bedroom - how easy is that with any other console? Or I can have a lazy Sunday morning and play handheld in bed (no dirty puns intended).
I've owned couple of generations of PlayStations, but don't have the money or interest in investing in more than one system now. So Nintendo it is because it suits my life.
no Ferrari's = instant no buy
@Cobalt — There is something to Ristar's comment........when one son has something going on inside I let the other take the Switch but I'm less likely to let them take it to an outdoor sporting event and instead have them take the 3DS. My older son also has a long bus ride to school and I let him take the 3DS but not the Switch.
Myself, I play it 90% docked........I never did like handheld gaming
Does it have multiplayer mode?
Only one phrase:
"I want this game "Right Now""
XD
@joey302
As they have mentioned to you, EA seems to continue with the no interest in making games for the Switch, so it will be very difficult to see an NFS in Switch; however, and personally, if there is a port of these last versions, I will only say: "no thanks", and not for being ungrateful, but as I mentioned before, I really have mixed feelings with this series since the arrival of Underground, and now with 2015 and Payback...
@Zenarium
Well, if the first game had multiplayer, I would doubt that they have retired it for this second version, and more, in a platform that allows the local multiplayer.
I played Gear Club Unlimited for 45+ hours. Great racing game! Check my play activity if you dont believe me (3903-2264-5321). Can’t wait for GCU 2
It looks interesting but still quite simple and dated. I would have loved to see some more attention to the driving physics and an interior view, which has become an industry standard these days. As this is, it's passable if there is nothing else in the way of racing games with real cars, but that really says more about the Switch's weakness than anything else. Racing games are what I am always going back to my PS4 and Xbox One for these days.
This looks a lot like 'classic' NFS. I am at least interested. I wish there'd be a demo to feel what the game plays like.
$50 seems a little steep for an updated mobile game, but it does seem to offer local multiplayer via 3-4 player splitscreen which could be fun. It doesn't hurt that racers are so thin on the ground for the Switch. Whatever happened to that Burnout: Paradise port we were supposed to be getting?
@Johnno137426 Yep, the original arcade Outrun is coming as part of the SEGA Ages line. It was announced 2 or 3 weeks ago. It's been remastered by M2 with wide-screen and 60fps, I'm assuming online leaderboards too. It doesn't have a release date yet but going by what Sega have said about how they plan for release the Ages titles I'd say it'll be here before the end of the year.
@DrJiggle As far as I'm aware this isn't an updated mobile title. It's a brand new game built exclusively for Switch. The original was an updated mobile game though and definitely overpriced.
@OorWullie Thanks! That's good to know.
Hopefully, this runs 60fps and has Online Multiplayer.
@pbb76 @geox30 @JaxonH @the_beaver @Frendo @sword_9mm @30mm There’s no use in replying to that sad excuse of a troll, he will never listen to reason. I don’t know why he still gets to hang around here when other trolls have bit the dust, but as he seems to get a free pass from NL, just put him on ignore, or at least stop responding to his BS.
@JayJ
it's not a 'switch weakness'. ps3/360 forza/gt had that and the switch is as good as those.
it's just N has no one to make these games. i guess cause devs don't think these things sell.
there's no reason say not to have burnout games on the switch or stuff like codemasters does. it's just they don't think they'll sell.
