If you're a fan of SteamWorld Dig, you'll no doubt be beyond pleased to hear that more games set in the SteamWorld universe are very much on the way.
The developer behind the series, Image & Form, has today shared a message on its social media accounts to assure fans that their favourite post-apocalyptic steampunk world is safe and sound. The news was actually confirmed by the team several months ago in a YouTube video (see down below), but this casts asides any doubts very nicely indeed.
With the likes of SteamWorld Heist and SteamWorld Dig 2 arriving on Switch, we'd naturally hope to see any future instalments appear on Nintendo's console. Thanks to the success the previous games have seen on Nintendo platforms in the past, we'd be willing to bet our houses (well, maybe) that upcoming games will release on Switch, too.
If you haven't yet experienced a game from the franchise, we certainly recommend that you do. We awarded SteamWorld Dig 2's Switch release with an 'excellent' 9/10 in our review, saying that it was "another confident effort from Image & Form" and "a worthy successor" to the original, as well as throwing a nice handful of praise at its sound, art, and performance.

SteamWorld heist is the best game on the planet

SteamWorld Heist is probably my all time favorite indie game and I adored both Dig games. I can’t wait for more!
Hopefully more Dig-style games. Loved those, but Heist didn’t really click with me.

That was my problem as I played through it as well, I'm compelled to do as well as possible before moving on, do a heist without any foul ups. I never finished the game, but still really enjoyed what I did play.
The Steam World games are fantastic and the only one I haven't played is the original Tower Defense game on DSiWare. I doubt they'll be returning to that when Dig was the breakout success that launched them.
Sending out Sally to kill four or five guys in a single turn in Heist felt like something out of The Matrix, despite it being a turn-based strategy game. Hard to top that, as much as I loved Dig 2. Happily take a Heist 2 or Dig 3, though. Or a new direction! SteamWorld Kart?
@NewAdvent I did all that and beat the game multiple times on multiple difficulties. Which I never do for any game.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is excellent, as are Heist and the first Dig game. I'm glad they're making more of them.
Steamworld games are essential for every Switch players. They're so good.

I really need to dig into the other games of this series. I've only played the first Steamworld Dig (3DS) so far and loved it.
I'd love a Heist 2......or Dig 3......or any other game they make to be honest. I cant imagine them making a bad game......
I'm always down for a Steamworld game, no matter the genre. I'd prefer Heist 2 though.

I love all Steamworld games and I’m currently playing Heist, but my absolute favorite is Dig 2.
I’d love a Dig 3 or perhaps something different, like an action RPG or even a Heist 2 but with an isometric 3D point of view.
I only played Dig and Dig 2, although Heist has been on my wish list, I`ve never bought it. After reading all these comments, I`ll be sure to get Heist at the next sale...
@Sac_instead Haven't played Steamworld Heist yet but I LOVED 1 & 2.
@maruse I would really dig a changeup in the point of view in Heist 2 but an isometric view could make lining up ricochet shots really difficult.
I'd love Heist 2, but I'd be curious to see something between Heist and Dig

II bought Steamworld Heist (3DS) a couple of years ago and was absolutely enchanted from start to finish as it had everything I look for in a game. Yesterday I finally bought Steamworld Dig 2 (3DS) and 10 mins in and i’m In love all over again😍😍! Was debating whether or not to buy the DLC for Heist but sod it, I think I will and pick up Dig 1 at the eShop whilst I’m at it. Thank you @imageform for making such wonderful games!!!! You’re by far the best indie developers out there!🎮🏆
