Re: GameStop Executive Believes Switch Sales Could Outpace the Wii

Gerbwmu

If it does 3DS numbers and they come up with the "New" Switch in about 4 years then maybe it approaches the 100 m mark. I think they will do well with this. I think despite the home console marketing......most people consider it a handheld and that has been Nintendo's bread and butter for quite some time. Get a proper Pokemon, Monster Hunter, and the plethora of 1st party Nintendo games that are sure to come with a sprinkling of AAA 3rd party titles I think you have the makings for a success.

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch Upcoming Goodies For March And April

Gerbwmu

Lego City was amazing and still gets played.....yeah you wait for loading screens at times but that gives me time to get snacks or drinks.

If you haven't played it, get it. Im sure it will be amazing on Switch and as much as my kids enjoy it, for co-op mode I may double dip. Well technically triple dip since the 1st disk was destroyed.

MK8 reboot......well I will probably skip. Unless the add on content is so massive that the Wii U version pales in comparison. I don't care about battle mode so it has to be more then that.

Re: Nintendo's Share Value Jumps Following Report of Switch Manufacturing Being Doubled

Gerbwmu

If they do manage to Sell 16 million Switch in a little over a year......the 3DS will be left behind and all efforts will be put into the Switch.

So far there seems to be a good buzz around the Switch.....a lot of non Nintendo people and non gamers I know are talking about it which is very different then the Wii U.

Of course stock value has little to do with real life and as soon as something negative is thought.....it will drop down again. Any one with stock in Nintendo.....sell now...buy again when it drops around the investors meetings.....then sell again when it raises around E3

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Says Services Like Netflix and Hulu "Will Come In Time" To Nintendo Switch

Gerbwmu

@Mogster - unless you work for Nintendo and helped develop the Switch.....I don't think you can declare there are zero trade offs. I doubt anyone here knows what kind of scheduled was pushed to get the Switch out by March (if any). When dev kits were sent out. How many they had to send out and when. Not to mention the costs of having employees to help Netflix, Amazon etc optimize their programs to work with the Switch which takes away from their time to help game developers. All of these things are trade offs for what might be a system they launched a year or more earlier then they wanted too.

It's not to say you are wrong.......just that we don't know.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Says Services Like Netflix and Hulu "Will Come In Time" To Nintendo Switch

Gerbwmu

Options are always good but what would the cost have been? For most of us the Switch is for playing games so maybe the trade off was increased games over the 1st year for delayed browser, apps, etc. Maybe Nintendo just dropped the ball. Maybe a little of both. What I know is Zelda is pretty universally loved and it is pushing the launch in the right direction. Add in Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey and a nice assortment of other games and you have what looks like a successful 1st year. Get some of these apps going by the holiday season and this whole conversation just doesn't matter.

Re: Video: See Even More of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild With Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Minute

Gerbwmu

@rjejr - I've come to realize the fact that I'm the small percentage of fans that loved the gamepad and it's version of duel screen gaming...........so I will play my switch version of Zelda and pour a little of my 40oz on the ground in remembrance of the lost map. Sad thing is....if the map was there.....I would have bought the Wii U version which is probably why it's gone and I should be mad at Nintendo.....but they keep making amazing stuff for me so forgive and forget I guess.

Cheers to us though......enjoy a beer my friend!

Re: Wii U Hardware Sales Dip Below Xbox One in Japan as Nintendo Switch Looms

Gerbwmu

Well........next week should see some interesting returns. Feels like Switch is a made for Japan console in some ways but it will probably take a Pokémon to truly push sales into the holy crap range.

Still, launches rack up a fair amount of sales and any waning sales momentum can be boosted by a great E3. I cant wait to see what the next 3 months look like

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Gerbwmu

I'd like one of these.....not sure when I will get one though. Lack of analog triggers is a head scratcher, Nintendo probably wanted some unity between pro and joy con and on some level that provably makes sense but for some games analog would have been a good option

Re: Poll: Does Nintendo Switch Need Streaming Apps and a Web Browser, Or Is It All About Games?

Gerbwmu

I couldnt care less.....my smart tv isnt connected to the internet, either is my smart bluray player. I've got a phone and computer, none of this stuff appeals to me.......but it is bonkers not to have some or all of this at launch or at least a plan in place that can be shared with the public. Means nothing to me but is a miss for a lot of people.....even though most never use it, they like seeing features and options.

Re: Nintendo's Dev Teams Rival Western Counterparts In Terms Of Skill, Claims Miyamoto

Gerbwmu

Kind of a silly comment, of course their dev teams are as good as western teams. Probably surpass a lot of them in many ways but the business models differ as do the hardware.

Name a company that consistently puts out the number and quality of games that Nintendo does, then name a company that has the man power and development teams that Nintendo does......so it is all relative. Still for my money Nintendo makes the type of games I want, so I hope they continue with what they do.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (Europe)

Gerbwmu

@SLIGEACH_EIRE - It's always a matter of opinion, but I'm excited to see Ogre Battle 64 and can't wait to upgrade it to gamepad playable version.....that is if Nintendo of America doesn't let me down.

Re: Soapbox: You're Going To Love ARMS, And Here's Why

Gerbwmu

Looks like a decent fighter. Not my favorite genre but as long as it has enough content to satisfy the fan base it should do well. They need something to grab the interest of the non Zelda fans for the launch and maybe this is it?

Feel like this is something my boys would play all the time.......if and when I get a switch I guess I better be ready to by 2nd joy con and ARMS

Re: Reggie on Wii U Support Going Forward

Gerbwmu

@eeyore - I bought a refurbished gamepad online and once I got it, had someone clean and slightly repair my gamepad so I will have 2. Using the refurbished until it dies while my original sits in the Wii U box as a back up.

I was hoping to buy a 2nd Wii U as a backup when they dropped in price but that isn't happening. I figure the gamepads will be well worth my investment if I ever decide to sell them

Re: Video: Let's Weigh Up the Good & Bad Things About the Nintendo Switch

Gerbwmu

A handheld that has the power of XB1 and PS4.....I think they should have tried to get to $249.99 but other then that I think they are doing alright. People complain about the launch lineup but Zelda day 1 with a few other titles then you have ARMS, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Mario Odyssey and a slew of 3rd party titles. It is an impressive first 9 months if everything makes it out.

Did they screw it up by claiming it's a home console that is portable instead of claiming it's a portable that plays at home. That may be the mistake if it suffers poor sales.

Re: Talking Point: What We Hope to See in the Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct

Gerbwmu

Please please please please let Radiant Dawn hit Wii U eshop.....ok I know that ain't happening but I can dream.

I'd like them to showcase Fire Emblem Warriors and anything else FE related to the Switch mostly to help build the hype and contribute to a solid launch. Any reason they can give for me and other customers to make the "Switch" will help build momentum into the new fiscal year and give Nintendo and 3rd parties a reason to push intriguing software towards us.

Re: Nintendo Switch Lacks Pack-In Title Because It's $299, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

Gerbwmu

Seems like a missed opportunity.....if the cost was $249.99 and he was saying the same thing I'd back him up, but at the $299 for what is essentially a handheld is more then the avg consumer will pay. An included game would have helped justify the cost, even if it meant minor losses at launch. Everyone would have bought a 2nd game to make up the difference anyway. They have more info then me though so hopefully they have this judged right. I love the concept and want Nintendo to do well.

Re: Hands On: Putting the Nintendo Switch Hardware Through Its Paces

Gerbwmu

They need a games direct soon with some general direction of release dates and a couple announcements like Pokémon Stars. Save a few surprises for E3 though. Pokémon would get it selling faster then anything....full HD on the go and on your TV. $249.99 was probably the sweet spot too.....but by all reports it's pretty remarkable tech

Re: Video: Gorillas, Mechs And Lightning Bolts, Wii U FPS Draw The Line Has It All

Gerbwmu

In a world where 1 button holds a games rating in balance and a corrupt government is anti electroguns but pro gorillas and rocket launching robot mechs.......where do you......DRAW THE LINE!

Seriously I've seen worse game clips but I've got a FPS game already that I never play so I'll pass on this........probably

And Hollywood better be buying the rights to a movie for this cause I'd go see that

Re: Newzoo Estimates Less Than Five Percent of Users Have Paid For Super Mario Run

Gerbwmu

$30 million in revenue in less then a month for a game that probably cost less........so a failure it probably is not. Maybe it will have the same effect as Pokémon Go and add to Mario games sales as well. We don't know that yet. To be real though I haven't spent a dime on any app game yet so any money they get from mobile gamers is more then I expect based on my spending habits

Re: Feature: Hopes and Dreams for Nintendo's 2017

Gerbwmu

Just keep making quality games and quality systems. Switch is a handheld, Nintendo does well with handhands and it will double as a cheap companion Nintendo machine for the gamers who prefer a home console.

Will it sell 100 mill.....no but I think 40-60 mill seems reasonable......assuming January 12th is a quality event
