Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Controllers

Gamer83

The Switch 2 Pro Controller is my new favorite Nintendo controller of all-time and is right there with the Dual Sense as a 1 and 1a. both are fantastic controllers. Also really like my SNES NSO pad and will probably add the GC controller pretty soon as well. The latter wasn't my favorite controller of that gen but I did still enjoy using it.

Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?

Gamer83

I thought I was going to not care for it based on what I read but I actually enjoy it a lot. Could have a little more going on but I don't think it's as bland and boring as others do either. Grand Prix and Knockout Tour are what I play the most but I enjoy just driving around exploring the open world and enjoying the outstanding soundtrack.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (7th June)

Gamer83

All about the Switch 2 this weekend. Mario Kart World and Street Fighter 6 have the been main focus (both are phenomenal) but I'll also be playing some Fast Fusion, Ridge Racer, Yakuza 0 and Cyberpunk.

Also wanted to test backwards compatibility so I fired up Xenoblade Chronicles X on the new system mainly to see how the whole process is handled if you don't do a full system transfer and thankfully it was as smooth as the transition from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Series X. Cloud saves worked exactly as I'd hoped. Going from one Nintendo console to another hasn't always been this simple so I was slightly concerned.

Re: Review: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) - A Superb Port Of An Incredible RPG

Gamer83

Never got around to playing it on the other consoles, I'm sure those are the best way to experience it but having the option to play undocked while I watch tv or if I'm out of the house means I can give it the game the time it deserves that I might not be able to if played just on the tv. Happy to see this port turned out well and props to CD Projekt Red for getting it all on card. Hopefully companies like Sega and Capcom will reconsider key cards in the future (eventhough I don't think they're as bad as some people do) and follow CDPR's lead with some of their releases.

Re: Review: Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition (Switch 2) - Just One Caveat Holds Back Capcom's Finest

Gamer83

This is a fantastic port of what is, imo, easily the best fight game this gen. There's some cut backs (less stuff going in the background in a stage or two, for example) but it's on par enough with the versions for more powerful consoles and since this one can be played on the tv or handheld, it'll overtake the PS5 version as my go-to if Capcom supports it with future DLCs the same way. It's fully featured, looks the part and feels awesome playing it with the NS2 Pro Controller. Also great to have a current SF game on a Nintendo system for the first time since Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition (another excellent launch-day port from Capcom). Given the history of the franchise, it just feels right playing it on Nintendo.

@JohnnyMind
The best way to describe World Tour is it's a Yakuza game with 2D fights instead of 3D brawling. I had a lot of fun with it on PS5. Interested to see what people playing it for the first time on NS2 think.

Re: Review In Progress: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation?

Gamer83

It could just be the launch hype but I'm loving the game so far. The driving feels good, the soundtrack is awesome, the tracks included are cool and, even if it's a bit empty in the open world, I've had a lot of fun with free roam. I don't know as I'd say the game is $80 great but getting it in the bundle? It's a perfect way to kick off a new Nintendo generation.

Re: 'Spine' Brings Gun-Fu To Switch 2

Gamer83

Definitely interested in this game but would probably lean more towards getting it on PS5. Will pay close attention to the Switch 2 version, though, because if it ends up being well done, having it to play on the go as well as a tv would be nice.

Re: Round Up: Multiple Switch 2 Game Pre-Order Trailers Released

Gamer83

Between the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle, accessories like the pro controller and memory card as well as pre-orders for games on other consoles I own, I had to limit my spending a little, so of the third party games only pre-ordered Street Fighter 6 since I have most of these games on PS4, 5 or Series X. SF 6 is actually a triple dip but I love that series and having this one on the go will be awesome. For people who haven't played it, I can't recommend Yakuza 0 enough, my favorite PS4 game after RE 2 remake, but I understand why some who prefer to buy games physically are hesitant. Sega, as usual, making weird decisions. Still, anybody who can look past the game key card issue will get a gem.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

Gamer83

Got in line at GameStop about 1 1/2 hours before it opened and pre-ordered the Mario Kart World bundle, an NS2 Pro Controller, 256 GB card (I'll get one with more memory later but that will be good for the first few months) and Street Fighter 6 for launch. Also pre-ordered Donkey Kong Bananza. From what I can tell it seems Nintendo is allocating the bundle (makes sense) more than anything else. The store I was at had 40 bundles available and 20 of the NS2 by itself. People posted pics of the flyers on Twitter and it seems to be a similar situation at all GameStops.

Re: Nier Automata's Dev Was "Ordered" To Ignore What The West Thinks Of His Game

Gamer83

I don't care who was responsible for the decision, I'm just happy it was made. Not that Japanese companies can't make good games with a heavy Western influence (Resident Evil and Street Fighter are two of my favorite series of all-time) but my favorites have always been the ones that don't feel like a checklist of what the West wants and, in some cases, even have content that offends the West somewhat.

Re: UK Charts: A Strong Xenoblade Debut Can't Escape Assassin's Creed's Shadow

Gamer83

Debuting at second would seem pretty good for a franchise like Xenoblade. Will be interested to see how it sells long term. I could see it dropping hard very soon but picking back up when Switch 2 is out, if it actually does benefit from some upgrades via backwards compatibility. I'm not very far in, but I love what I've played and could see this being my favorite XC when all is said and done. It'd be cool to get another game more like this one, so hopefully it sells well enough over the long haul.

@Smithicus
It's Assassin's Creed, those games almost always do good numbers, I didn't expect anything less with this one. Even if I'm not particularly interested in it.

Re: Talking Point: Will Metroid Prime 4 Get A Switch 2 Release?

Gamer83

People are making this far more of a discussion than it needs to be. Plenty of early PS5/Xbox Series X games were cross-gen releases and nobody got confused. If you're buying a Switch 2 early, it makes sense for Nintendo to have a native version of the game, that will probably run a bit better, for the new hardware. And for those who won't be upgrading right away but want to enjoy MP 4, they'll have the option as well. Very simple.
