@Rika_Yoshitake I don't like to advocate this kind of stuff, but with MS and Sony (as well as companies like Tencent) having made, and still making, big acquisitions, Nintendo should lock up some close partners if it can. Next Level was an under-the-radar, good purchase. Platinum and, if possible, Mercury Steam, should be next.
@Ventilator Don't care for Starfield (not really into Bethesda's games outside of DOOM) but Forza 8 is definitely one I'm keeping close tabs on. I love Forza 1-4 and 6, 5 and 7 disappointed but I think 8 will be a return to form.
@JaxonH
Yeah, I'm going to have to pick and choose what to get the remainder of the year (XC 3 and Bayo 3 are the for-sure buys), but that's a good 'problem' to have.
@Willo567 You're probably right but the way companies act these days, more than ever treating consumers as $ signs, I don't blame people for getting even a little concerned when they see 'in-game purchases.' Devs/publishers have lost the benefit of the doubt, even the best of them.
Shredder's Revenge is my Game of the Year so far. Love it, takes me back to the early 90s and great memories of the NES, SNES and Genesis TMNT beat-em-ups.
My top 5 so far (all systems): 1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge 2. Kirby and the Forgotten Land 3. The King of Fighters XV 4. Horizon: Forbidden West 5. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Potential unsafe maneuvers because of the balance board? This is bs straight out of early the 1990s Nintendo playbook, maybe worse and I have a hard time believing it's real. The company should just be honest and admit it's because the Wii U Eshop is closing down. At least I want that to be the real reason because if the 'too scary' nonsense is true, this puts Nintendo right there with Sony and MS as completely neutering this industry which already doesn't have enough M-rated games with an edge to them anymore. Everything is 'politically correct' toned down garbage.
I know people crap on the PS3 but it still sold over 85 mil units and ended up passing the 360 to be the second highest selling console that gen. So maybe for every other company it's only been a 'handful of times' it's gone from success to success but to me when your worst selling home console moves numbers that companies, including one of the legends of the industry like Nintendo, wishes it could push with its worst-selling platforms, Sony has a blue print others should look at.
PS1 was at around 110 mil, PS2 150, PS3 drops to the 85-87 mil (those are the numbers Iv'e seen reported) but then you're back up to 115 or so with PS4 and PS5 has been off to a great start and will at least reach that 90-100 mil range. What Nintendo needs to do is just make commonsense decisions. Stick with the hybrid model but iterate where needed kind of like NES to SNES. One thing, besides a steady stream of good games and price, that will be huge for the next system is full backwards compatibility. Game preservation is becoming a big talking point and if the full Switch library (or at least good majority of it) can't be carried over, that will be a sticking point for a lot of people that could cause a headache for Nintendo.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. It was my most-anticipated game as soon as it was announced and definitely lived up to expectations. Like Streets of Rage 4, it's an absolute blast and takes me back to those 16-bit glory years of gaming.
I love the beat-em-up genre so I'll get this eventually. Just happened it launched during the wrong week. Triple dipped on TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, not afraid to admit it.
TMNT was my favorite entertainment property as a kid. The cartoon, live action movies and especially the games. So many great memories of sitting in front of the tv with my cousins or friends in the 8 and 16 bit eras and playing The Arcade Game, Turtles in Time and The Hyperstone Heist. I never lost the love I have for the franchise but the games, cartoons (though I did really enjoy TMNT 2003) and movies over the years have failed to live up to what this property was in the late 80s/early 90s. Thankfully the right publisher has come along, found the right dev and we have something again that lives up to what Konami once managed to create.
@TheJamesHollan That's about right. It took me a few hours but... 1. I suck at games eventhough I play them a lot. 2. I explore everything even in games where there isn't much to look for.
@TheJamesHollan I played Bright Memory on Series X and think it's pretty good. Looking forward to this update. Only criticism I'd have, if I can really even call it that since I like what's there, is the game is very short.
It's kind of ridiculous that the western studio with higher-budgeted games and an even more 'realistic' style than SF 6 will bring its fighting to Switch but none of the Japanese companies will. Absolutely no reason for DoA 6 (or at least 5 Last Round), SoulCalibur 6 and Tekken 7 to not be on Switch. SF 6 I can understand but where the hell is 4?
My parents got me the 1989 game either that Christmas or the next. Looking back, it isn't the best but I was a real young kid, it was TMNT and I still liked playing it. The beat-em-ups is where it was at, however. So many great memories of playing TMNT II: The Arcade Game, Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist with my cousins over the years. None of us ever had Manhattan Project or the GB games so the Cowabunga Collection will be my first time checking those out. Also very hyped for Shredder's Revenge, what I've seen looks fantastic.
If it was up to Reggie, Xenoblade Chronicles never would've made its way to the U.S. Not every decision he made was great, and his taste in games isn't always great either.
I've had a lot of fun playing it so far. As the review says, Bowling is as good as it's ever been and that's what I've played the most but I also really enjoy Soccer, Badminton and Volleyball. each great additions. I do wish Basketball was there and it's a shame we have to wait for Golf but what's there is good and the game could evolve through more updates. I'd pay for a good size expansion that adds at least 5 sports and a new location.
Overall it's really good. Not as good as Wii Sports Resort but better than the original and still a great party game all these years later. Don't usually play games online a lot because of how toxic it can get but this game is very chill and the community is friendly, another aspect I like a lot.
Nintendo Switch Sports. Have had a great time with it so far. It's not quite as good as Wii Sports Resort but I would put it above the original and Wii Sports Club on Wii U.
This is why Sega is so difficult to love. Just a disgusting decision but this company is a complete disaster in general so it doesn't shock me. Origins is a putrid collection. Happy I still have Sonic 1 and 2 on cartridge and the Xbox Live Arcade versions of the Genesis classics as well Sonic CD and Adventure 1.
Genesis is the best of the bunch, imo, but mainly because it doubled what SNES Classic has. If Nintendo just put 10 extra games in that machine, I'd probably say that's the best of the bunch.
PS1 Mini is trash. Say that even as a big PlayStation fan.
@CharlieGirl Yeah, I love these games but I'll just stick with my Genesis copies of Sonic 1 and 2, and the Xbox Live Arcade versions of 1-3, Knuckles and CD that I bought years ago.
Awesome news, way sooner than expected. I liked Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and XC Defeinitive Edition is not just my favorite RPG on Switch but one of my favorite ever. Day one buy.
I love all 4 Streets of Rage games, it's easily a top 10 favorite series of mine all-time but I'm not sure it's best suited to be a movie. Yakuza or Judgment seem like much better candidates.
Yes I would, especially if I could carry over all my current Switch games to the new model. I love the Switch, it's my favorite Nintendo system after SNES and taking nostalgia for the latter out, it may be my favorite but the hardware is getting old and needs a big upgrade.
Guess that's not surprising since this delay isn't exactly good news. Still, if Nintendo can get out two of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3 and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, or somehow manage to get all 3 out in 2022 that's still a heck of a Fall/Holiday lineup. Dare I say still better than the competition.
Awesome, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is one of the best games this year and among the best in the series. Hope to see Nintendo continue with this style in the future.
@KidBoruto Yeah, I have it as one of my favorite games of the year so far, right there with Horizon: Forbidden West. Would love a sequel that builds on some of the ideas put into Forgotten Land.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge and Spidersaurs.

Haven't been many things to complain about with Switch but the way Nintendo handles the NES, SNES and N64 releases is just pathetic.

So, it's not toned down for the hyper-sensitive nutjobs... Good.
Re: UK Charts: Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series Makes A Respectable Debut
Don't know what the case was in the UK but if it was the same as here in the U.S., Klonoa wasn't advertised at all, so this isn't bad for a niche IP.

Terrific soundtrack, actually bought a digital copy. I don't usually buy a game soundtrack even if it's one I really like but this one is too good.

Got a good 4 or 5 hours in so far. Awesome game, the best in the Kirby series I'd say since Epic Yarn for Wii.
