Re: Wii Sports Is Reborn As 'Nintendo Switch Sports'

Gamer83

YES!!!! Fantastic news and, believe it or not, my favorite announcement of the Direct. I'm a huge fan of the Wii Sports series, especially Resort, and have been hoping it'd make its way to Switch. Took longer than I thought it might but super hyped that it's happening. Only disappointment is no basketball but hopefully there will be future updates beyond the fall where it can be added.

Stuff like this is why the Switch is already one of my favorite systems of all time. I know a lot of people don't look back fondly on it now but I still think the Wii is an awesome console and the Switch is the follow up I had hoped the Wii U would be and more.

Re: Switch Online Surpasses 32 Million Subs, Nintendo Says It Will Continue To "Improve And Expand" Expansion Pack Tier

Gamer83

I'm a big fan of the Switch but not too far from being five years into the console's life we still don't have some basic features like themes, Netflix or other video services that other modern platforms and even the original Wii had, and even the avatar section isn't updated. On top of that, I look at what Nintendo has done with NES and SNES online and it's difficult to believe it will really improve the expansion pack that much.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition On Switch Appears To Require A Download

Gamer83

@NintendoByNature
Yup, unfortunately at this point if it's a big third party release, especially from Western devs, I expect some portion of a game to require a download. Disappointing but bigger memory cards are affordable enough and there's definitely other stuff going on behind the scenes that lead to devs making these kind of decisions (might be laziness in some cases but definitely not all of them). Still better than a cloud version and I'd like to see more Rockstar games, especially future GTAs, on Nintendo platforms going forward so I have to support this.

@HedgehogEngine
I didn't say to agree with me but droning on about content in games isn't going to stop Eastasia from making what it wants, it's a niche company with a small but big enough audience to make these types of games regardless of the whining about them. As far as articles on website, the more clicks they get, the more of that type you'll see. You can read it and comment, as soon as it gets that click, it's a W for the outlet publishing it.

Re: Review: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cloud Version - A Disastrous Way To Play A Great Game

Gamer83

This is why I hope Nintendo never goes fully into cloud gaming, it's just not where the medium needs to be. A real shame there isn't a native Switch port, even with some downgrades it'd still be worth it. Playing on PS5 right now and it's a legit great game, (especially if you like MCU GotG) not just 'better than SE's Avengers' good. This is what I want out of these Marvel adventures, good, lengthy single player story-driven efforts like Insomniac has done with Spider-Man. The Guardians are my favorite Marvel superheroes after Spider-Man and the X-Men so I'm thrilled there's a game that does right by the IP. Unfortunately, just not on Switch, I'd have double dipped if it was a competent, native port.

Re: Oh No, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Has Been Delayed On Switch

Gamer83

@Ryu_Niiyama
Looking at the release schedules for both Switch and PS5, it does seem like not much is announced yet for April, so hopefully Nintendo actually advertises this and it sees good enough sales to get a new entry in the series. I'm concerned about that, though. It's a niche franchise, probably won't light the charts and up and, because this is Nintendo, only the wrong message will be taken away from that.

Re: Random: Turns Out Dune's Paul Atreides Is One Of Us After All

@clianvXAi
For some reason it's like people feel validated when it turns out celebrities also play games, or watch sports or do something they do. Idol worship, I've always found it pretty pathetic. When I was in my teen years gaming was still viewed as a 'kids hobby' and I did get made fun of a little bit because I was a super gaming nerd, but it never stopped me from loving games and talking about them.

Re: Out Now: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cloud Version Is Out, But Try The Demo First

Gamer83

Playing the game on PS5 and really love it so far. Would definitely recommend anybody with a PS4/5 or Xbox One/Series X/S to give it a try, especially if you like single player, narrative driven games and are a fan of GotG. If Switch is your only option, guess it depends on connection. I've heard from some people who have had a flawless experience but obviously it'll depend on your internet, which is why I'm not a big fan of this push for cloud gaming.

Re: Grasshopper Manufacture Joins Chinese Video Game Giant NetEase

Gamer83

I know Nintendo doesn't buy a lot of studios, but it seems like a missed opportunity as Grasshopper provided some good exclusives for the brand. Doubt we'll see any further partnerships and though I wouldn't have expected it anyway, think we can write off seeing a No More Heroes 4. At least the way I'd like to see it. I think, even more than MS, Tencent and NetEase have spooked Sony lately and you've seen it make some big moves to lock up key partners. Given what Mercury Steam has done with Metroid, I'd try to lock it up if I'm running Nintendo. Also would provide an opportunity for Nintendo to go in, see what's going on at the studio and clear out any leadership causing some problems there.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

Gamer83

I actually like it. It's not my favorite Metroid game but I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets either. The story is bad, no question. It had some good ideas but the execution was poor and stripping Samus of any agency was dumb. The gameplay, however, the most important part of any game, was really fun and I give Team Ninja a lot of credit considering Sakamoto basically put the shackles on them.

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

Gamer83

Unfortunately for Nintendo, the dislikes are deserved. If people want to blame licensing, that's fine, but imo, NSO is just not worth $50 even with Genesis, N64 and Animal Crossing DLC involved. And if Sega playing hardball is the cause of this, that's also on Nintendo. Should've just walked away from the negotiation table and went with one of its own systems like GBA or the Gamecube, the latter of which would've made many people happy. One of those two, along with N64, for $40 without the AC DLC would've been much better received, you'd still see some people say it's too much but the noise wouldn't be nearly as loud. I've even seen some of the most passionate Nintendo fans say this pricing structure is ridiculous.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Release Date And Pricing Revealed

Gamer83

I was willing to go $30, maybe even $40, but $50 is out of the question, especially as what is on offer right away isn't exactly stellar and we don't know how frequent the updates will be. Wish Nintendo had just stuck with the original Wii's Virtual Console and kept growing it over time. What it's doing now is especially lame when you look at Game Pass, which is what Nintendo should be trying to emulate if it wasn't going to stick with the VC. Pay a sub, download games to the harddrive and buy them, sometimes at a discount, to keep them even if you decide not to re-sub.

Re: Poll: So, Which Switch OLED Did You Buy?

Gamer83

Haven't bought a Switch OLED yet, and probably won't, but if I did I'd go for the one with the red and blue joycons just like back in 2017 when I picked that color scheme over the gray ones for the standard Switch.
