It could also be that they tried something that didn't work. Happens all the time in game development.

"Almost" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that title. "One guy had a suggestion one time" would be more accurate.

@UltimateOtaku91 because the games require you to get a certain progress to unlock battle features, or to make a team. And they cost money. And they are replaced every few years, and are beholden to that games' mechanics.
There are many reasons to have a dedicated battle app - just look at Showdown.

If there is one thing I learned from this comment section, it's that people overestimate how much these company cares about having the number one selling platform of all time, instead of profits right now.

This game was so optimized it gave me delusions about what games could do for years later.

The gacha mechanics in XC2 is the game's biggest issue. It doesn't cost money, but it cost a lot of time.

It's surprisingly well built. They thought of a lot of use cases, and no big hiccups. Let's just hope the library expands at the same pace going forward.

One of the Kit and Krysta "discussions" that haven't made it to this sites news, is that Nintendo most likely will wait until the election is over before promoting a Switch 2. Which makes sense for a company that held back the title reveal of a Zelda game because of the queen dying.

@eltomo I mean, they talk about other stuff than Nintendo. But this being a Nintendo site, I doubt you would see anything else from them on here. Of course, you could check them out for yourself.

@FishyS It worked extremely well to convey the concept of what the Switch is. So many people at the time were wondering if it even truly could be that seamless as just pulling it out of the dock to keep playing. Waiting with the longer explanation of HD rumble and infra red sensor was the right move.
However I don't expect Switch 2 to need the same thing, so I'm curious if they will.

This is what state investment funds do. Invest. They hardly, if ever, buy the entirety of big companies like Nintendo.

@Serpenterror it's not uncommon for studios to use the money from the previous game to pay the investors/creditors that made said game possible to make. Usually a game doesn't make enough to finance an entire new title, even if it turns profit.

That being said, Kickstarter nowadays (for video games) is just a marketing tool, and no one can make enough money of one to finance an entire game. Like in this instance, there is no way the game proposed only needs 150k (the original goal) to be develooed. It can help make the game better though.

1. The dex sizes are estimates/averages. In the game you catch plenty that is not the size mentioned in the dex.
2. If you look at the product page, it says that it's exactly 80cm tall.

In the way they write and, as someone else points out, with spelling errors, this is definitely not AI. It tends to avoid weird sentence structures like this and come up with something rather bland instead. Maybe old Google Translate, but unless they went out of their way to use that, this is most likely human written.

That being said, I wouldn't bat an eye if a guy in a onesie and hat like that said weird stuff.

The section for on Capcom's site is for game series. I know that a lot of people forget that Okamiden exists, but a few hundred thousand of those 4.1 million is from the DS title.

1 you don't have to spend money on marketing.
2 you don't ave to spend more money developing them.
"Develop the games to completion that your employees are working hard on then sell them. You’ll make money."
That's exactly what hasn't worked for SE so far.

Was it announced too early? Yes. However, I do not believe Nintendo would have passed the project to Retro had it not known externally. They probably would just have aced it altogether.

@N8tiveT3ch back then, the platform holders/publishers often wanted to make their platform look most appealing and made deals to reflect that I guess. So it depends on the game. MS likely paid to get CoD featured in their conference with their marketing and exclusivity deal, before Sony took over and did the same.
