@FishyS There are many people making distinctions between roguelikes and roguelites, the latter having a meta game progression, just like Dead Cells did.
@Astral-Grain "(...) arbitrary and personal rather than an objective view(...)" No. Just no. Reviews are inherently subjective. You cannot measure "fun" on an objective scale.
"To be clear, not all of us were in the same boat. We awarded the original a 'Good' 7/10 back in 2016, but what was a stubborn mule for some was a prize pony for others." And this is why having a policy of writing "we" in reviews is bad and leads to confusion.
@NintendoWife They are advising on where people should put their money. If you put your savings into stocks you either want the stock to grow or dividents to be paid, otherwise you would be better off having it in the bank and take the interest. Like the system or not, but it is their job to look at where money will be better spent.
@NintendoKnower it was "optimized" by having absolutely no ambition. Environments where hallways with sky boxes as decor. And when it did open up in the wild area, the performance was just as bad as SV.
"a game tester and quality assurance developer who claims to have been playing a demo of Metroid Prime 4 for the past 10 months while using the bug-tracking software Jira."
Oh my god! Someone is testing the game as they develop it! Maybe they even have 3D modellers and game designers on staff too!
@boatie It is a fun story, but I don't remember the details. Basically they made a partnership with Nintendo by pretending to be a big company, when they both were rather small, and maintained the relationship since. So Scandinavians got NES before the rest of Europe as a consequence.
It's also worth noting that Thunderful merged with Bergsala, the exclusive distributor for Nintendo stuff in Scandinavia (and the only place where Nintendo doesn't have distribute themselves, or through a subsidiary.)
@riccyjay I believe what you are missing is the word next to the score that says "average". I know it's a low score, but I've seen lower, and based on the review it's hard to tell how this game could be scored any lower aside from making the Switch jump out of the dock and physically assault the writer.
@PikaPhantom I was not aware that Bergsala was a part of Thunderful. The more you know.. It would make sense for Nintendo to cooperate with one of it's longest partnerships on an actual game.
@Not_Soos Namco did make Starfox Assault. Which definitely was a game.
@Thomystic it was more directed to the one they named "Best 'End-Of-Year Arrival That Dropped Too Late To Make Our GOTY List' 2023" Why not just make it appear on next year's list?
I get the sentiment that people talk about TotK vs BotW. I've come to realize they are way more different than I expected. BotW is more open from the get go, and has a calm sense of exploration, whole TotK is so stuffed with things to do that you can barely go anywhere without running into someone or something. BotW was a more meditativ game for me, while TotK is non-stop puzzles and quests. It is a bit more tiresome, but also fun in a different way.
@VoidofLight Not to mention every animation every creature needs, because people want to run around with them, play with them, feed them, wash them, etc.
@roboshort Not only is it run differently. NOA is primarily a localization and marketing house, and have very little involvement in the making of games in general.

@Arkay a wild guess: a streaming service by BBC
Re: New Limited-Time Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Distribution Now Available
@Pillowpants They hand out battle ready Pokemon for competetive play, which can be a chore to train yourself in-game.
Re: Japanese Charts: Eiyuden Chronicle Starts Strong As Stellar Blade Takes The Crown
@Serpenterror These are physical sales. PS5 sales of digital versions are much higher than Switch.
Re: Rumoured 'Hi-Fi Rush' Switch Port In Doubt As Microsoft Culls Tango Gameworks And Other Studios
@shgamer Embracer is selling all the assets it can. It makes no sense to them whatsoever to make a purchase now.
Re: New Nintendo Infographic Showcases Every April Indie World Game
@Vyacheslav333 Considering that it is Nintendo UK who posted this I'd say the answer is in your comment.
Re: Rumour: New Prince Of Persia Game Reportedly Arriving "Later This Year"
@FishyS There are many people making distinctions between roguelikes and roguelites, the latter having a meta game progression, just like Dead Cells did.
Re: The Pokémon Company Unveils Venusaur Charging Light By First 4 Figures
I'm guessing they'll reveal a Blastoise and Charizard later on.

@-wc- color me surprised
Re: Thunderful Sells Publisher Headup For €500k After Acquiring The Studio For 11 Million
@XiaoShao while that was true once, they merged with another swedish company, and are publicly traded. They can hardly be called indie anymore.
Re: That's A Wrap! The Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Is Done Filming
Yet we still have no follow up to Detective Pikachu. Way to go Warner...

No. Just no. Reviews are inherently subjective. You cannot measure "fun" on an objective scale.
Re: 65 Switch Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Blockbuster Sale (Europe)
The Atelier games really went on sale in only parts of Europe. Wtf. The rest of us only get discount on the remake.

"Nice and short, if that’s what you like"
More of this please!
Re: UK Charts: Unicorn Overlord Makes The Top Ten And Sells Best On Switch
People know that these numbers are for physical, right? And that digital is the vast majority of sales on PS5, unlike the Switch?
Re: Anniversary: Switch Turns Seven Today, With Over 11,000 Games On The eShop
@Truegamer79 since the Wii/360/PS3 it's been going for at least 6 years, with Wii U being an exception for having such poor performance.
Re: Balatro Removed From European Nintendo eShops Due To Ratings Switch
@HeadPirate no, but a lot of commentators here do.
Re: Balatro Removed From European Nintendo eShops Due To Ratings Switch
@HeadPirate I'm also pretty sure that it isn't PEGI that pulled the game from the store, but they changed the rating, and Nintendo pulled it.
Re: Review: Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! (Switch) - Game Freak's 3DS Gem Is Still A Prize Pony

And this is why having a policy of writing "we" in reviews is bad and leads to confusion.
Re: Talking Point: Pokémon Presents Predictions - What Are You Expecting?
My guess is that we'll see one new Switch game. Maybe two if they show some kind of remake of gen 2 or 5.
Re: Switch Reportedly Less Than 1 Million Shy Of Being Japan's Best-Selling Console
@shgamer burst anyone's bubble on what? Last year's January was about 50k a week.

How can something with "horrible graphics" that "can be moderately fun" considered "average"? Am I missing something?
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown
I hope it sells so if only for Ubisoft to realize that not all games have to be 100+ hours

I kinda wish they made you hit an attack button all the time to move, because that is what Splash would do.
Re: Atooi Shadow Drops Adorable Roguelike Dungeon Hopper On Switch eShop
@EVIL-C they literally asked him about it in a recent interview in the fall.

@PharoneTheGnome Or, hear me out, those other games were better, and not just a by the numbers open world game. Crazy idea, I know.
Re: Pokémon Horizons Anime Is Coming To BBC iPlayer Next Month (UK)

Re: Nintendo's 330M+ User Accounts Will Be Foundation Of "Lasting Relationship With Consumers"

@SwitchForce you can't buy them individually.
