@JamesS2612 Either or, really. I'm waiting with wrapping I-II before wrapping III, though I think Square said that they released III first for this exact reason.

Switch 2, pre-ordered. Just finished DQ XI S on Sunday and can't wait to keep going here.

@mlt They were owned by Activision, released Crash 4 and when that didn’t make enough money they were sentenced to be a Call of Duty support studio.

However in 2024 they announced they were leaving Activision to go indie.

The artstyle is really off-putting to me. I mean, it’s obviously well made — but I find this hard to look at. I find the old games much more charming and cozy.

@Cathalm I don't think anyone's said it's a flop, just that it looks like garbage for a massive game in 2025 and that it's embarrassing that production values aren't higher.

@Striker21 From a business perspective, they shouldn't increase budgets or teams because whatever they come up with for pocket change sells like hotcakes.

There's no incentive to up the budgets as long as they keep swimming in cash.

While I spent more time with S/V than I'd like to admit — man was it rough. I had hopes for Arceus with a more interesting setting, but the lack of ambition elsewhere made me drop it quickly.

Act 3 of Dragon Quest XI S continues, looking like I will wrap up before DQ I-II 2DHD next week!

EDIT: I actually managed to beat it, the final boss falling by a hair. Such a fantastic journey, and any JRPG that has me wanting more after almost 70 hours deserves a 10/10 hands down.

I’ll shelve the game though, and get a few days break before DQ 1-2 comes out.

@MamaSymphonia As I said, if people are fine to pay full price for this, have at it. That was literally what I said.

Given some of the comments regarding us folks who want better quality... it's almost like y'all are arguing against higher quality, at a premium price tag.

A few hours in and I feel like I’ve seen all the game has to offer, after ten I gave up on it. I wish I could explore the gorgeous environments without the gameplay.

Maybe I'm a negative Nancy, but... this doesn't look great. It looks like boss fight designs from early 2000's, essentially just revealing glowy bits to hit.

@Alcea I doubt DQ fans would be very happy if the series moved away from the turn-based format.

Super excited for this. Already got a pre-order in, though the Limited Edition is taking the piss at that pricepoint. Looks cool, but not that cool.

It’s Atlus. Separate DLC was a given, sorry to say.

Otherwise, really strong game. And arguably the FES story additions makes the story worse by a wide margin. Almost better not to have it.

It's a shame they didn't go for all of the content from the P3 releases, even as DLC, but the quality is definitely there and supporting Atlus RPGs for more Switch 2 releases is a no-brainer.

Well on my way to wrap Act II of DQ XI S, according to my coworker. I’ll hopefully wrap that and Act III before I-II HD Remake drops.

Choosing to focus on this one and shelving Silent Hill f for a bit.

They put in as little resources as possible, knowing it'll still sell like hotcakes.

Now I've been there since day one, skipped a few entries here and there — but unless they start to take some risks or actually bump up the quality to... 2015 standards, my money goes elsewhere.

I love the art style, but I can't help but think that's where the bulk of the value and focus lies. I tend to come away from games with these choices frustrated, thinking "This should probably have been a movie".

It's got to be painstaking to create, and put a lot of limitations on gameplay. Hope it finds a fanbase.

I haven't gotten around Vengeance yet, and after playing the OG release along with my backlog — it's hard to justify, despite loving the game.

If anyone wants to buy this, don’t do it on release. A month or two after release it’ll be on a deep discount, as per Ubisoft standards.

There have been (and still coming!) way too many good games this year for this to even be a blip on my radar.

I feel like one can 100% expect what to get here, with zero surprises.

But they’ll keep getting away with minimum effort.

COGEN is pretty good.

Witch On the Holy Night is also nice.

Then thirty games which look like things I have scrolled by a million times. 😅

No, I think they’re pretty sluggish and not particularly good games.

Dragon Quest XI S continues. I’m well into Act 2, and it just keeps giving me good feelings. What a game. Just a shame the play time I manage to squeeze out isn’t enough for the big ones.

Then there’s DQ III HD waiting for me, and I+II.

Also trying to get some time with Silent Hill F, given the season. So far, it’s great.

Pre-ordered a copy. Didn’t get too far back when it initially launched.

After Scarlet and Violet being as bad as they were and Pokémon games being way more shallow and lacking content and polish, I’ll hold off. If it turns out there’s more to the game than they’ve shown, there’s actually plenty of options for character customization and general polish (which they could afford, but know that the bare minimum will sell) — I’ll be there.

As it stands, I doubt this’ll be anything but another very safe and dull entry.

Seems somewhat interesting and definitely well made, but I personally don’t give much for ”best reviewed” when it’s an aggregation of scores — and sometimes less reviews will bump these things sky high, like with The House in Fata Morgana. That one is gorgeous, but a sluggish visual novel that most definitely isn’t the very best Switch game, but has relatively few reviews from sites covering niche titles.

This won't be a Switch 2 buy for me, as I assume they'll have a nice Pro setting on the PS5 Pro.

Looking forward to RE9 though! 7 and 8 were great.

Got this digitally, but will probably double dip with a GKC copy to support more Trails on Switch.

Won't be getting around to playing for a while though, but from what I've seen looks really promising!

I love the addition of the underwater area. It feels very cozy and fitting for DQ. Can’t wait!

GKC are a marked improvement over code in box, with resell value — so there’s definitely much ado about nothing.

Day one buy.

Pre-ordered. From what I hear, the issue people have with the original is essentially the pacing, otherwise a great game.

I just finished Act 1 in DQ XI S and I’m absolutely loving it. What I’ve played of DQM: The Dark Prince is also fantastic, not to mention the entirety of DQ Builders 2.

Looking forward to churning through the rest of the series.

What do you call a remaster without any mastering? Genuinely curious.

This looks decidedly worse than the original, even. Purely due to art direction.

I really liked the first game, but damn. The Circus case left such a bad taste in my mouth that the entire series got tainted…

I’m still very skeptical about Pokémon as they always feel like they’re unpolished and lacking in content.

Arceus was promising enough, but grew stale quite quickly.

I never cared for it, but the soundtrack is great.

Not a bad game though, unlike Skyward Sword.

Pre-ordered for Switch 2. Couldn’t care less about Game Key Cards vs. Physical.

It’ll take time before I get to these though. Got DQXI S to wrap up, then I want to finish DQ3 before starting these.

I'd be more interested in a cool-ass figure, tbh.
