Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

@Raifteiri is on the money.

"Much Ado About Nothing", clearly. I wonder how many people 'boycott' the Game Key Cards vocally — but buy them (or digital copies) anyway?

Give it a year at most and people will be complaining about something else, with plenty of these in their physical games collection.

Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2

Filthy

This seems dead before release.

  • Mouse control showcase (not the most enticing selling point)
  • A name and look that looks pretty similar to much other eShop cashgrab games (read: general consumer will just glance over this).
  • Online Only, right? If so, it requires a big player base — which seems doubtful.

I'm sure Nintendo could've chucked this idea and a sack of money to the Rocket League devs for a Switch 2 specific game mode, rather than this.

Re: Review: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma (Switch) - A Bold Reinvention That Pays Off

I think I’ve got like an hour left before the credits roll and I’m so happy with this game — save for the ”gamer character” and some overt inclusions of modern technology which has not been present in the series before.

On top of that there’s some modern slang from the localization which is just pure ass (”touch grass”, ”hype”, ”gains”, ”have you no chill”, ”skill issue”… seriously, these localizers…).

8/10, easy. Just a few too many immersion breaking things from writing and localization.

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

I mean, I know I’ll buy the inevitable upgrade.

I’ve read a lot about ghosting etc., but I haven’t noticed issues myself. There are some qualities better in the Switch OLED screen, but side by side I find the Switch 2 LCD much more pleasant.

Would have been nice, for sure — but I’d say the worst part of the hardware is the battery life.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Donkey Kong Bananza For Switch 2?

Filthy

I really don’t like what they’ve shown. DK is horrible to look at, the singing makes my skin crawl from some second hand embarrassment and the entire package gives me a bad taste from back when Odyssey released.

However — I can see that it is a well-made and high quality game. It just doesn’t align with my taste, but will make plenty of other people happy. I wish everyone an exciting Bananza!

Re: Best Rune Factory Games Of All Time

3 beats 5, which beats 4. I just find the cast in 4 a bit lackluster.

I’ve not played 1 and 2 in ages, so I can’t fully remember where I put those.

Frontier I barely remember, same with Tides of Destiny (pretty sure that was on PS3 as well and that I played it there).

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs

Filthy

8/10!? I did buy this from the few articles stating how ”surprisingly fun, actually” it is — and what a god damn scam. 😂

”Guess the framerate”, ”see how small OG Mario is in a 4k screen”, along with non-trivial such as ”You can use a mouse to move a cursor around on the screen”.

It’s not a game — it’s a tech demo.

The games are basically Flash games from the early 2000s and the ”educational” material is so laughably basic. It’s very polished, but it’s absolutely not an 8/10. Then the so-so port of Hitman should be a 23/10.

It’s like going to a restaurant and paying 5 bucks to get the menu.

Re: Review: Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess (Switch 2) - Tower Defence With A Twist In Capcom's Gorgeous, Yokai-Slaying Hybrid

Filthy

Interesting, for sure. I’ll keep my eyes on this one, after churning through the backlog some more.

Got to say though, maybe they should stop wasting money on English dubs? Yakuza, Rune Factory, and now this?

I’m sure the talent might be solid, but either the casting folks or the voice directors need to step it up and maybe stop hiring friends, YouTubers and influencers.
