The dark and gritty Pac-Man looks so damn interesting.
I am casually optimistic about Code Vein II, but not entirely sold yet. I was hoping for a surprise reveal of a Code Vein 1 port to Switch 2, but alas…
I think I’ve got like an hour left before the credits roll and I’m so happy with this game — save for the ”gamer character” and some overt inclusions of modern technology which has not been present in the series before.
On top of that there’s some modern slang from the localization which is just pure ass (”touch grass”, ”hype”, ”gains”, ”have you no chill”, ”skill issue”… seriously, these localizers…).
8/10, easy. Just a few too many immersion breaking things from writing and localization.
I’ve read a lot about ghosting etc., but I haven’t noticed issues myself. There are some qualities better in the Switch OLED screen, but side by side I find the Switch 2 LCD much more pleasant.
Would have been nice, for sure — but I’d say the worst part of the hardware is the battery life.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is my current poison. Once I see the credits roll I might fire up Atelier Ryza, or Drsgon Quest XI, as it runs well on Switch 2.
I really don’t like what they’ve shown. DK is horrible to look at, the singing makes my skin crawl from some second hand embarrassment and the entire package gives me a bad taste from back when Odyssey released.
However — I can see that it is a well-made and high quality game. It just doesn’t align with my taste, but will make plenty of other people happy. I wish everyone an exciting Bananza!
Upgrade path should definitely be a thing, in fact one could argue that they should just have made a patch for the original and put it on sale for Switch 2’s release — but I digress.
If someone hasn’t played the original one, this is well worth it.
@Alcea Oh, there were plenty of complaints regarding 1-2-Switch, namely ”If this would’ve been bundled with the system, that would make sense. As a full price game? Stay away, because it’s not good”.
8/10!? I did buy this from the few articles stating how ”surprisingly fun, actually” it is — and what a god damn scam. 😂
”Guess the framerate”, ”see how small OG Mario is in a 4k screen”, along with non-trivial such as ”You can use a mouse to move a cursor around on the screen”.
It’s not a game — it’s a tech demo.
The games are basically Flash games from the early 2000s and the ”educational” material is so laughably basic. It’s very polished, but it’s absolutely not an 8/10. Then the so-so port of Hitman should be a 23/10.
It’s like going to a restaurant and paying 5 bucks to get the menu.
Interesting, for sure. I’ll keep my eyes on this one, after churning through the backlog some more.
Got to say though, maybe they should stop wasting money on English dubs? Yakuza, Rune Factory, and now this?
I’m sure the talent might be solid, but either the casting folks or the voice directors need to step it up and maybe stop hiring friends, YouTubers and influencers.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Fans Should Keep One Eye On The Retro-Flavoured 'Spy Drops'
Yeah, I suggest people read a bit closer on the AI use I this case.
I’ll buy it for sure.
Re: Metal Gear Solid Fans Should Keep One Eye On The Retro-Flavoured 'Spy Drops'
The PS1 would implode from those many polygons on her boobs, to be fair.
Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Game On Switch 2, Ranked
Strikers at spot 8 is a war crime.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
@Raifteiri is on the money.
"Much Ado About Nothing", clearly. I wonder how many people 'boycott' the Game Key Cards vocally — but buy them (or digital copies) anyway?
Give it a year at most and people will be complaining about something else, with plenty of these in their physical games collection.
Re: 97 Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Switch eShop Summer Sale (North America)
I love how the lowest score on all of these is a 9/10.
X to doubt on that one, chief.
Re: Marvel Rivals Dev NetEase "Already In Contact With Nintendo" About Switch 2
Nice. Curious to try it at some point
Re: Feature: 22 Games With 'Secret' Performance Bumps You Should Revisit On Switch 2
Atelier Ryza is very smooth, but I’m not sure if it had any issues before.
DQ XI is clearly stabilized as well.
Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
@LikelySatan Same, man.
No Twitter (left way before it got musky), no Reddit, no nothing.
Just grass, early bed and the occasional whiskey. I can die happy.
Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
Some rage-bait, dramatic YouTube video with an all-caps title isn't news.
People are so hyperbolic and angry these days.
This was a patch, meaning it can be fixed with a patch. It's fine to have criticism without coming across like a baby who's well past their bed time.
Re: Feature: Every Switch 2 Launch Game, Ranked
Puyo at the bottom is a joke. If you haven’t bought the original, it is a solid package.
Switch 2 Tour on the other hand…
Re: Switch 2 Exclusive 'Drag x Drive' Won't Include Local Multiplayer Support
It’s great that all of the 12 people who will buy this game can play together.
Re: Dbrand Admits Its Joy-Con Detachment Response Was "Spectacularly Terrible"
@Mana_Knight Not really. As messy as their PR is, ”sober up to” does mean both ”sobering from drinking” and ”waking up to reality”.
It’s not their first PR blunder, in my opinion but at least they set out to make things right.
That said, they should work on their messaging.
Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2
This seems dead before release.
I'm sure Nintendo could've chucked this idea and a sack of money to the Rocket League devs for a Switch 2 specific game mode, rather than this.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controller - The Return Of The King
@Maulbert 100%. I hate the differently shaped and sized buttons, the C-stick and the triggers with enough travel distance to cross three continents.
Re: PSA: DBrand's Switch 2 'Killswitch' Dock Adapter's 'Seamless Docking' Apparently Isn't Quite Seamless
dBrand did a solid case to make the PS5 less ugly, but their edgelord-y "Haha, Sony! We could sell our stuff!"-attitude made me cringe.

I mean, I know I’ll buy the inevitable upgrade.

Avatar characters is truly the pinnacle of kart racing DLC…
Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong
I don’t mind. Odyssey was so bad that I rather see other games (or more stuff akin to Mario Wonder).
Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult
The only reason I get physical is for re-selling when it’s a game I know I’ll be done with.
The future is digital.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Have A New Go-To Racer In Mario Kart World?
Rosalina typo in the poll.
Rosalina and Pauline, almost always.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st June)
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is my current poison. Once I see the credits roll I might fire up Atelier Ryza, or Drsgon Quest XI, as it runs well on Switch 2.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
I hardly find this surprising.
My guess is that the ”anonymous publisher” is either related to Hitman or Hogwarts Legacy.
Older games with ports. Most people who wanted to play these titles already have.
And Mario Kart is the system seller. How is this surprising?
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Donkey Kong Bananza For Switch 2?
I really don’t like what they’ve shown. DK is horrible to look at, the singing makes my skin crawl from some second hand embarrassment and the entire package gives me a bad taste from back when Odyssey released.

Re: Random: Do You Remember This Utterly Insane Marketing Stunt For Super Mario Sunshine?
@1UP-HUSKY You’re not alone, man. I really didn’t like Odyssey.
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Controversially Cuts War Of The Lions Content
@Vyacheslav333 You know. I can't argue with that!
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Controversially Cuts War Of The Lions Content
@Vyacheslav333 I doubt this is a decision made by the developers. This is a suit and tie call.
So "laziness" and "low effort" feels unfair, imo. Cash grab though? Ye. Inevitable DLC.
Re: Review: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster (Switch 2) - A Solid Refresh For A 3DS RPG Gem
@kmtrain83 This had not crossed my mind.
I thank you kindly. With this extra time I will surely clear my backlog in no time!
Re: Review: Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster (Switch 2) - A Solid Refresh For A 3DS RPG Gem
I picked it up, but I’ve got a gnawing feeling that I won’t like it.
And I’ve got the Ryza trilogy, Trails to Azure, Yumia, Cold Steel-series and I haven’t even finished Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma yet…
Too many games, not enough time.
Re: Poll: Has Your Switch 2's Screen Got Any Nasty Scratches Yet?
With the OG Switch I used microfiber cloth to pad the dock in front of the screen as well as a screen protector.
This time I’ve only gone for a screen protector. So no. No scratches.
Re: Nintendo Supposedly Investigating Possible "Swollen Battery" Issue With Switch 2
People will be awfully shocked when they discover that the later versions will also have a handful of faulty units.
Re: Red Dead Redemption 2's John Marston Teases "Exciting News" This Week
Ah, yes. Because Rockstar Games on the Switch has such a stellar track record.
Likelier would be a remaster for PS5/Xbox.
Re: 'Rumble Has Been Turned Off Due To Prolonged Use'? Don't Worry, Your Switch 2 Joy-Con Probably Aren't Broken
I turn off rumble by default. Such a pointless feature.
Re: Best Rune Factory Games Of All Time
3 beats 5, which beats 4. I just find the cast in 4 a bit lackluster.
I’ve not played 1 and 2 in ages, so I can’t fully remember where I put those.
Frontier I barely remember, same with Tides of Destiny (pretty sure that was on PS3 as well and that I played it there).
Re: Nintendo Reminds Us DK Is On The Way To Switch 2 Next Month
The re-design kills it for me. He looks so horrible, and I can’t imagine myself spending hours looking at that face.
Re: Review: Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S (Switch 2) - A Disappointing Update For A Modern Puzzle Classic
The package as a whole is fantastic, imo.

If someone hasn’t played the original one, this is well worth it.

Everyone hated it.

Re: Review: Hitman World Of Assassination - Signature Edition (Switch 2) - Not Yet The Showstopping Port 47 Deserves
Slight update here. It seems to play much better docked. Handheld is where I’ve seen most issues, so far.
Still questionable frame rate, but playable.
Re: Princess Peach's Voice Actor Has Been Replaced After 18 Years
Good on Nintendo for even reaching out, to be honest. That’s never a given (see: Konami and the Metal Gear Series etc.).
Acting is a job, so the contract can shift hands at any turn.
Re: Review: Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess (Switch 2) - Tower Defence With A Twist In Capcom's Gorgeous, Yokai-Slaying Hybrid
Interesting, for sure. I’ll keep my eyes on this one, after churning through the backlog some more.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Best Way To Play, But 'Zelda Notes' Sucks
I think Zelda Notes is neat.
Like the DS second screen. 😅
Re: Review: Hitman World Of Assassination - Signature Edition (Switch 2) - Not Yet The Showstopping Port 47 Deserves
I had the game crash on me when I got discovered in the tutorial mission, and even there noticing some frame drops.
Not unplayable, but definitely not the best way to experience the game. Hopefully it’ll get plenty of patches.
Re: Review: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma (Switch) - A Bold Reinvention That Pays Off
After a little bit with this game, I’m very happy with the game. Learnings from RF5 are there and the world just feels much better.
If this is the level of improvement for a spinoff, I’m very excited for the future of the series (and to delve deeper into this one, of course).
Re: Video: "It's Actually...Really Good" - Our Hot 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Preview Take
This is a scam of a product, truly.
”Guess the Framerate” and some truly ass Flash games do not warrant 10 bucks.
The trivia learned here is absolutely surface level too (e.g. teaching you that a mouse can be used to move a cursor on the screen).
It should 100% have been free. Save your money, people.
Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom And Link's Awakening Are Improved On Switch 2, But It's Not Perfect
It’s tragic, really.
I liked Link’s Awakening well enough, but Echoes of Wisdom was stuttering so badly I could barely get 30 minutes in.
This still has the random stutters that ruined the experience, even if there is less.
Re: Adorable 'Little Nemo' Metroidvania Wakes Up On Switch Next Year
Not at all a fan of the art style, while the original bears plenty of nostalgia for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)
I wrapped up Stellar Blade on Thursday, and might fire up some Expedition 33, or just leave gaming on the side until the Switch 2 drops.
Re: New Yakuza 0 Opening Movie Builds The Hype For Switch 2 Launch
Pre-ordered this and a couple of other game key cards — because it truly makes no difference to the end experience for me.
Looking forward to diving into Yakuza 0 again!
