Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Okami

I would like to defend my choice to vote for the NA cover!

It’s much cleaner and more focused. It also conforms to the set photography rules of symmetry, and contrast, easily guiding the viewers eyes to the focal points.

The Japanese version is too busy.

Re: Ubisoft Closes Two Studios And Will Reportedly Lay Off Hundreds Of Employees

Farts_Ahoy

This is exceptionally poor journalism. Way to capitalize on the click bait while leaving out any real details.

Ubisoft is a huge company of 45 studios and roughly 21,000 employees.

The San Francisco office works primarily on Rocksmith+, South Park, and XDefiant.

The Osaka office works with the Smurfs, CSI, Gravity Falls, and Rocksmith+.

Rocksmith+ was released in 2022 and is a HUGE FLOP. overwhelming negative reviews and a subscription based service.

XDefiant was released in May 2024 and is an arena shooter… very similar to Concord. It was never released on Steam.

Shutting down these studios seems like a smart thing to do.

Re: Book Review: An Unendorsed Anthology Of Club Nintendo - A Terrific Tribute Tome

As a HUGE Club Nintendo supporter… I love this book. I went through thinking there’s no way he’s going to have ALL the items (the Russian DSi sock for instance) but yep, he passed my test.

As Ollie said though… I would’ve liked a few more pictures of particular items. (Where’s the cool box the US Mario Statue of the Platinum rewards came in?) (maybe some pics of the “Tenbillion” outside its box)

It could have a larger description of some items and a mention of the year end rewards for greater loyalty meant (gold vs platinum)

It’s definitely high end and sits proudly on my shelf

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?

Farts_Ahoy

Im about 2.5 hours in, just finished a second island… so far its pretty average (4 out of 10)

The controls feel like they were designed for the D- Pad. Movement feels very “right angle “ and not fluid.

The enemy encounters take far too load. The early enemy attacks seem to be waaaay to fast. The level up screen feels choppy like it’s having trouble loading.

The story introduction is a tape slap. Honestly probably not that important in Mario and Luigi games.

During the cut scenes… they cheaped out and starting showing only still frames. The sound doesn’t hit comedically like it should, for example when Luigi got pinched by a crab the comedic emphasis wasn’t there…

The islands don’t have any substance. I ran through the second one in 30 minutes and felt underwhelmed.

In short this game needed about 6 more months of polish. Classic example of end of system holiday rush job.
