Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?

Farts_Ahoy

Im about 2.5 hours in, just finished a second island… so far its pretty average (4 out of 10)

The controls feel like they were designed for the D- Pad. Movement feels very “right angle “ and not fluid.

The enemy encounters take far too load. The early enemy attacks seem to be waaaay to fast. The level up screen feels choppy like it’s having trouble loading.

The story introduction is a tape slap. Honestly probably not that important in Mario and Luigi games.

During the cut scenes… they cheaped out and starting showing only still frames. The sound doesn’t hit comedically like it should, for example when Luigi got pinched by a crab the comedic emphasis wasn’t there…

The islands don’t have any substance. I ran through the second one in 30 minutes and felt underwhelmed.

In short this game needed about 6 more months of polish. Classic example of end of system holiday rush job.

Maybe I’m in the minority… but I think this game is just… pretty good.

Love Ollie, but it’s not a contender for Game of the Year or even close!

I’m about 5 hours in and it’s a fun, but too luck based rogue lite.

The graphics are not great, it’s hard to tell the difference between spades and clubs in handheld.

The theme doesn’t quite stick the landing. It’s supposed to be a sinister haunted version of 5 card stud but never really goes through with it. Maybe some more music changes, screen changes, or that main joker card playing more of a narrator role would remedy that.

The game NEEDS a plot. Why am I playing these poker hands to beat point thresholds?

Overall… it’s fun. Fun as in I’ll play an a round while on the toilet or as an appetizer before I dig into my real game for the night.

…But that’s as far as it goes.

People really don’t give Game Stop enough credit! (That’s a pun)

But after the eBay final value fee, shipping charges, and the cost of buying packaging… you get about the same monetary value at GameStop.

…AND GameStop buys all your shovelware that would never sell on eBay.

Just saying.
