It has been confirmed that the next instalment in the popular Cruis'n line of racers is coming to arcades early next year.
Cruis'n Blast is being developed by Raw Thrills but Nintendo's name is featured predominately on the cabinet, presumably because it has sole ownership of the brand now that Midway Games - the original developer - no longer exists.
It follows Cruis'n USA - which was famously ported to the N64 - as well sequels Cruis'n World, Cruis'n Exotica, Cruis'n Velocity and the 2007 Wii title, simply entitled Cruis'n. The series was created by Eugene Jarvis back in the '90s, who is now president of Raw Thrills.
The press release - included below - states that this is the first "arcade exclusive release", which seems to suggest that no home port is expected:
The Arcade is back!
Raw Thrills™ introduce Cruis'n Blast™, their first arcade exclusive release.
The legendary Cruis'n™ series of driving games debuted in the 90's with the arcade smash and N64 launch title Cruis'n USA™. Cruis'n USA thrilled the world with amazing 3D realism and casual arcade fun, setting new records for income and operator ROI. Followed by Cruis'n World™, and Cruis'n Exotica™, the Cruis'n series sold over 70,000 arcade driving machines, grossing over $8 Billion worldwide.
"With the resurging millennial arcade sense and unprecedented player demand, the time was right for a new Cruis'n game." Eugene Jarvis, Raw Thrills President and creator of the Cruis'n series, stated.
Cruis'n Blast, developed by the crack Raw Thrills studio team, takes Cruis'n into the new millennium as players zoon 200 mph through the bustle of London, blast through the exotic wonders of Madagascar, celebrate Carnival in Rio, amaze to the hi tech splendor of Singapore, and drive an earth-shaking thriller through Death Valley. Every track is packed with speed thrills, exploding scenery, and extreme special FX. In tune with the times, players race in an immersive cockpit simulator loaded with HD supercomputer graphics and immersive effects. The Thrill-D Blaster™ sound system recreates the sound of an actual race, backed by a pumping soundtrack that is a staple of the Cruis'n experience.
Key features include:
+ NEW! Dramatic enclosed cockpit cabinet with fully immersive Thrill-D Blaster™ sound
+ NEW! BLAST™ turbo boost for truly insane speed!
+ Awesome supercars including Lamborghini Veneno™, Nissan GTR™, Corvette 206™, and more.
+ 43″ 1080p HD LED TV
+ Mind-bending color FX from over 1000 Vibrant RGD LED's
+ State of the art GTX 750 Ti Nvidia supercomputer HD graphics
+ NEW! Link up to 8 games for massive multiplayer action

FIRST of all, thanks for sharing this news. And second... I hope this game comes to the Nintendo NX.
wait so Nintendo owns the Crusn brand?
20 years 2 late
probably exclusive to the so cold NX
...There are still arcades? Where? Where are they hiding from meeee?!
In the unlikely chance this shows up at my local bowling alley, I shall be inserting many pound coins.
Not a massive fan, but look forward to it popping up at Santa Cruz when I visit there next year. 😃
Why aren't we seeing rereleases of the home versions of these games, then? Surely Wii U could use the support. A Wii U port of Cruis'n Blast would be pretty awesome, too (especially since we've been left out by the cancellation of "The 90's Arcade Racer"), even if sold as a budget title or something.
There's a blast from the past. Might this also be a clue regarding NX?
"State of the art GTX 750 Ti Nvidia supercomputer HD graphics"
Remember the arcade board Triforce, developed in a joint venture by Sega, Nintendo, and Namco, based upon the Nintendo GameCube?
@Wolfgabe Yes... Nintendo does own the intellectual property that is the Cruis'N franchise.
I don't think there are any arcades in my city anymore. I'm going to do a google search and see where the nearest one is.....
I hope it appears at dave and busters
@Thegentleman According to the president of Raw Thrills, the final answer is... YES!!!
@Leu10antFalcon very good then!
@Ryu_Niiyama Japan and California
@CrazyOtto LOL So a country and a state I don't live in? OK, I'll be in a corner crying. ...Or building a MAME cabinet...or both.
I'm impressed,Nintendo now owns one of the 2 Ultra 64 IPs,looking at the footage when it was called redline it has jarvis' trademark wackiness which is great 'cause i love NARC.

Food, Beer and Video Games!!!! New one Opening Up only a half hour from my house at the end of the month. Used to have to drive over an hour.
Interesting that the boss of the developers was also the creator of the series, bodes well for the quality of the game.
I thought we got Cruis'n Adventure recently.
I miss good arcade racing games... if only they made more of these, id love to own them at home. goes back to FAST Neo Racing
I made a thread about Cruisin Redline last month. Are they onto the next one already?

Memories.niw port it to Wii u or nx.at least bring the n64 games to the eshop.one can wish and hope.
Probably the best news I've heard for a Nintendo game all year
750ti is a weak but, "great considering its cheap" graphics card.
I would expect more than that tbh but I'm sure because they make the game purely for that card alone that's it's just about right.
Huge fan of the series, had World on N64. Hope this makes it to a console.
Color me intrigued. This was one of my favorite series in games and one of the games that as a kid had me very excited for the N64. I still have all the Cruisn series game carts in my collection and play them from time to time. Hopefully it gets an NX port at some point.
And just watch us get a port of USA on the Wii U VC instead....
@samuelvictor Yeah not sure I would call a $120 1.4 TFLOP graphics card "state of the art supercomputing".
I remember Cruisin USA being garbage.
Is my memory correct in thinking that ?
I'm always happy to see new arcade racing games. I don't know why that genre has died out on home consoles there's nothing like Crazy Taxi, 18 Wheeler, Outrun or Daytona these days.
@Madder128 Nope, compared to the racers at the time, it was actually good. In retrospective though, it is bad now, specially the N64 port. But the original arcade was really good back then.
Wait, there was a Cruisn' game for the Wii? I had no idea, and I thought I was a big fan of the series. I thought the last one was Exotica.
Would be nice to see all 3 classics on Wii U vc???
@nab1 there was unfortunately it wasn't very good though!
@nab1 Must be the N64 version I was thinking of.
Never played it in the arcades, it's good to hear that.
@Madder128 Yeah, the main problems with the N64 port were the over-sensitive controls (the arcade wheel was much more responsive), and the constant pop-in graphics. But I have to admit, I still enjoy playing it on VC occasionally; as bad as it is, there's something about Cruisin' USA that I really like, maybe nostalgia. I guess I have a thing for wacky racing games across the USA
@BulkSlash Amen brother. I'm a huge fan of Sega racing games in particular. I have to play Daytona and Outrun Online Arcade on my 360 every once in a while to get my fix
@freaksloan
By any chance do you live by Toledo? We have a new D&B opening at the end of the month so that's why I'm asking. That's crazy if so.
On Topic: I fondly remember playing Crusin' games at the bowling alley on Friday nights when my parents would bowl and I loved those games. Rush was another good one. Good times. I'm happy D&B is getting it and I expect the local Chuck E Cheese will get one too. Works out perfectly for me since I can either get drunk and play it or party with my kids and play. With that said it would be awesome to get a console version. So Nintendo, if you're listening, please bring this to NX.
Great news! Now all we need is another Burnout game.
Yey! Yey! Yey!!!, sorry, XD
Patient have rewards, and I patiently I wait for a new Cruis'n, and well, It's coming!, XD, well, at least in arcade; only to wait a little more for if arrive in Consoles (Wii U, NX)
@dizzy_boy This is Redline- they changed the name.
@CrazyOtto They are no Arcades in the traditional sense in California. Closest we have are like Arcade rooms in movie theathers, mini golf places, amusement parks, etc.
I have many good memories of playing Cruisin' World with my brother as a kid. I know the games weren't exactly top notch but I still had alot of fun with them regardless, to the point that I wouldn't mind at all if they showed up on the E-Shop!
Arcades are cool but there are not very many of them. Sounds like you're going to take a loss if you choose arcades only.
I sure hope this comes to the NX.
They changed the name from Cruisn' Adventure to Cruisn' Redline, and now again to Cruisn' Blast?
@SKTTR Yep, so I would project another name change yet. Either way it looks like classic 90s era car racing that I look forward too. Speaking of which what ever happened to the 90's Arcade Racer that was supposed to come to Wii U?
@Qun_Mang I thought so.
Tbh I prefer the Red Line name, I don't see why Nintendo needed to change it again.
I also hope (deperatly) for an NX version now... Arcade racers is my favorite dope !
YES! Come on I can't be the only one who loves the Cruis'n games! NX port please?
Love this series!
@samuelvictor The things is, to me, Cruisin' USA was basically a new Outrun with digitized/rendered graphics, which at the time were impressive, at least to me and my friends. IIRC, Cruisin' came at about the same time as Killer Instinct and Donkey Kong Country 2, and with the upcoming Project Reality/Ultra 64 incoming, it felt like the future for consoles . They don't look good today, but I grew fond of them. I never had issues with the controls, any more than what you'd have in an Outrun game, and even if not perfect, they felt more forgiving than, say, Daytona were if you mess up one turn you're pretty much done. In Cruisin' it felt easier to actually complete one track and stretch your quarters.
Maybe it's just preference. As good as Sega Rally, Daytona and Ridge Racer are, to me they felt lacking in the amount of tracks. Also, Daytona IMO is more of a forgiving sim than a true arcade racer, and Ridge Racer seemed to depend too much on drifting (though I may be confusing it with one of the sequels, I can't quite recall). I just basically prefer Point A-to-Point B, incoming traffic, varied stage arcade racers much more than the other lap-based racers with fewer tracks which seemed to be the trend, and in that sense, Cruisn' more than delivered for me, a new racer in a genre which seemed to be dying off (the outrun-like racer type, that is).
Anyway, to each their own. In the words of the dude, "that's just like, my opinion, man!"
HD supercomputer graphics, heck yeah!!
X'D
I hope the same announcer from the original will be on it so I can go "Cruis'n USA, YEEEEAAAAHHH!"
@samuelvictor thanks for the vid man, looks as terrible as I remembered.
Also has any one noticed, the seat on the new arcade cabinet, it looks like Professor Xavier's chair all modded up !
Seriously, someone should photoshop Xavier into that seat.
