But honestly, who really cares if you're a real Nintendo fan? As long as people can be safe in the knowledge that they are getting a good product and it is indeed a capable system, then for all I care, people can have their hybrid handle. It's all about the games and as much support as possible in the end, so here's hoping they've truly come up with something brilliant and not that awful EuroGamer concept...

@ThanosReXXX Well we'll have to wait for that investor call, cause we ain't learning nuthin in 3 minutes except the name and the date of the reveal. And maybe something about the launch date, either confirm or delayed. But no chips, doesn't matter the hardware shown. But I'm used to waiting.

@ThanosReXXX I don't think that's "angle" if that ends up being what Nintendo's marketing strategy is (or at least part of it - they can go the other way with certain games coughMonsterHuntercough). I don't believe that Eurogamer is inaccurate about the hardware other than some potential number changes.

@Urameshi No, since there are also gameplay trailers. This is a teaser trailer, hence the "preview" label.

@rjejr There might be a quick glance at the system and some in-game footage. Read that 4th part of the developer interview that I sent you, it says lots of titles in development and quite a few are near completion, so it could be a sizzle real of games with quick flashes of the home/hybrid console in between. Blink in between game sections and you'll miss it...

I predict a doughnuts eating contest between Reggie and Bill, winner gets to announce the NX reveal date. This isn't the reveal, it's the reveal of the reveal date.

@IceClimbers I firmly believe they have only part of the story. If AMD reveals something tomorrow (and they could, since their meeting is after Nintendo's presentation) then we might be able to put some more of the puzzle pieces in.

But if Nintendo and Iwata's words still mean anything (and on that even everyone's favorite twitter queen Emily Rogers agrees) then NX is still very much Iwata's baby, and as such it will be a family of systems and a range of devices that all use the same OS, much like Apple, a model which Iwata thought that Nintendo should also adapt to, so a single system is as good as out of the question. There may be only one now, but more will follow, probably when the 3DS will be phased out.

But I'm still wondering about those answers that you haven't given me yet...

Either way, if Nintendo presents and markets this in the right way, I guess they'll win me over in the end anyway, so I'm just as excited as the next guy for that trailer, but I do hope it's a capable system, because I don't wish for Nintendo to fall behind again.

Not really interested in the console itself, but I am interested to see what they are planning for it. And at least there's actually gonna be some official info about it for a change.

I don't really care that much about the NX itself but rather I'm glad there will be no more rumour covering on a daily basis on gamingwebsites/channels. It was getting rather tedious these past months.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kept my cool the whole time, but after this official announcement i feel like i wanna scream at top of the biggest mountains how excited i am. I can wait for march to buy it, but i can wait for the reveal of this thing anymore i need to know what the NX is, all my internet sessions in the last 3 months was about searching and following information of the NX.

I just know that Nintendo is gonna take over the industry with this thing. The only thing i wonder is how much third party support they get but if that's on level, then Sony and Microsoft are done from now on. And i think mostly XBox wil be in trouble (ever sinds original Xbox i wonder why the xbox exist, it was just a way for microsoft to take over the industry then being passionate about gaming) .
By the time the power of the XBscorpio will be relevant, both sony and nintendo will also have there new consoles after the PS4pro and NX. I want the Japanese to become a bigger part of the indsurty with the mistakes learned from the past when catering to the west.

Hopefully we'll see a Monster Games-designed DKC in the future, 'cause I'd be totally for that.

Another Nintendo generation passes on, a new one ushers in the 9th generation. Except, this whole thing got out of sync. I think it's fair to call it 9th gen though. New system, new games means new generation. And we can consider PSVR/Pro and Scorpio all part of that also.

Well its nintendo...so keeping my dreams low. Im more excited to play nes mini I think a direct comes in january when they say how much we can wave it around or what gimmick it might be. Dont think they show many games today.

This is actually the best time to announce it. With VR hardware having been released, and a lot of big titles being delayed until the start of next year, it couldn't be better.

But... I have a bad feeling this is going to be brief and give us more questions than it answers.

C'mon Ninty, don't tease it out. Just tell us everything we need to know about the hardware, software, concept and then give us a solid release date and price. Otherwise this will be quite deflating.

Hopefully it'll be good. I have low expectations.

I, for one, hope they keep the NX name. First reason - I think it's been popular in the gaming community and is a good transition away from the Wii era of Nintendo. Second, I find it hard to believe they'll come up with something that's better.

It would be so nice if Nintendo finally got their house together and released a machine that catered for the core gamer and not the casuals that look for the gimmick.

NX will most likely have a few ports. I'd expect Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Maker and Smash Bros to appear on the console. Basically the heavy hitters from the Wii U that people might have missed.

Remember guys to be civil and calm, it's a video game system that will not affect your life in any way if you don't like it, so there is absolutely no need to attack/call people names/try to burden others with your potential disappointment. If people like this system that is a good thing, consider how you'd feel before you try to get at people who aren't you for liking something you don't like if you were in their position.

Let's all be rational mm'kay? I hope lots of people will be happy, that will be the best outcome.

Just want to put my NX prediction in before the big reveal. It's a tablet with game streaming like ge force now or steam. It has two controllers one attached to either side of the tablet. It also connects to the tv with chromecast/screen cast dongle. It takes cartridges like ds for offline play aswell. I don't think it will be 4k but my guess is it'll be perfect 1080. Probably similar to Nvidia shield tablets. I wouldn't be suprised if it supports android either or apple store for downloading apps. Would make sense considering they are making so many. Imagine pokemon go on your new nintendo nx.

@Mart1ndo without question we will see the console, that will be the main focus of the video. The only two games that will be shown in all certainty are Zelda BoTW and the new Mario game whatever it is. 3 mins could be enough to showcase more games but it's unlikely when of course that will be a big focus of the next several months, they need to show people that the hybrid concept will work, and this video will be the do or die for many people (because life's to short to give something more than a quick 3 minutes to decide for some people) as to if the NX is worth their money.

@Pinkman I'm definitely thinking that streaming could be an element of this device. That way the tech in the system doesn't have to be bleeding edge in terms of performance (and Nintendo's systems haven't been for some years) to handle some impressive games going forwards.

@yomanation I don't think that they are going to go into that much detail in 3 minutes. A Mario trailer, some flashes of the console and maybe some other game footage is all I'm expecting.

And AMD or Nvidia is not really connected to the form factor. Mobile could also be DMP. Much more likely also, since they're already a Nintendo partner...

As for the trans thing... The reaction here by others is what one might call "political correctness." I have no particular affinity for it myself, and I do think it's weird that a person I knew from high school eventually became trans and switched teams. I still refer to them as a him when I don't pay attention. Gaming and animation artistry desensitized me enough that seeing different identities has become a normal thing, though. There are far weirder things that pop up all the time! Even the premise of most Nintendo characters is warped when you think about it.

The whole system is a tablet now which you could attach a controller dongle to play on the go or just play the game at home by inserting the tablet inside the brick. It supports cartridge games similar to 3DS/PS Vita games. Though I do had to say I love the play on the go part but the playing at home thing seems odd, with them using cartridge now I'm not sure if this thing will be backwards compatible with Wii U games or not since it still does use a second screen though I doubt that second screen is for on the go play only. Now I hope the games will be worth it, the portable screen does look awesome though as it is now in 720p HD rather than the 480p of the Wii U and 3DS screen. It's still only a tease trailer though, they still had not show how new games could take advantage of them new gimmicks.

I wish they had spent more time on game footage, less on attractive well dressed millennials. If they really delayed this from Sept to Oct just for Mario footage, well they could have left that part out, we could have lived w/o the 3 seconds of a Mario triple jump.

And I don't even care so much anymore about the hardware, I'm ready for the games now more than ever. Sony has a PSX in early Dec, the event Ninteod is doing Jan 12th should have been Nov 12, then spend 4 months hyping up the games and answering questions. I think I feel less enthusiastic abut what was an otherwise good trailer b/c they told us we had a to wait another 2 1/2 months for more info. Which I Really hope w/ all things Ntinedo that was just another lie, and they do show games at The Game Awards in December - Zelda Switch, that Mario game, Pikmin, show lots of games. If Switch games aren't at TGA I think they are going to be a hard sell to all but the die hard Nintendo fans. Even if they keep their own stuff secret, games like Skyrim and basketball, bt 3rd party titles need to be shown, to let people know they are coming. And my Cloud amiibo and some FF game on Switch should be there. I dont' care which FF game, XV, 7, World of, just give me a reason for Cloud to be an amiibo beyond SSB, and a reason why he has taken so long to show.

Oh, great... so now I will have to keep in mind that I will have to re-read dozens of my own comments in order to understand what I'm going to be replying to. And this one was already a trip down memory lane...

But all joking aside: I have no idea how you are able to amass such a backlog of comments all the time. I'm quite busy during the daytime, but I'm always able to keep the number of messages below ten, and that's an absolute maximum. I only had 4 messages today, so I'm suspecting that you have a foot in too many articles, making you get more and more messages.

I only comment on things that really interest me or in threads where I'm all but sure that I'm not going to get caught up in some idiotic discussion that ends up nowhere. The first few Switch articles were also rife with such discussions, and although I couldn't stay away entirely, I did manage to steer clear of the more annoying discussions, even though my hands were itching sometimes...

And from a marketing perspective, that trailer was spot on. It was clear, had a focused message and they also showed some gameplay footage, even if it was only edited in. The first trailers of a device should focus on the system itself, so they really didn't make any mistake there.

As a gamer, I would obviously also have liked to see some more games and extended footage, but logically I know that this wasn't the purpose of that footage, so I'm satisfied with how they handled it and I'll be expecting a slew of titles to be shown in January, both first party and third party.

As for TGA, I am not quite sure, but chances are that several NDA's will be lifted by then, so that third parties can show off what they've cooked up for the Switch. Would also be a good indication of what the system is able to pull off. We don't need Nintendo's own titles to show us that. If anything, third party titles are a much better indication of the Switch possibly having what it takes to woo the crowd...

Realistically, I don't see many problems: Nintendo has at the very least gained a lot more direct contacts in the developer scene, thanks to Nvidia, and that is also visible on that third party list, because it contains quite a few companies that were previously nowhere to be seen on a Nintendo console, so my educated guess is that this is purely because of Nvidia's contacts and of course the now for third parties much more acceptable architecture which can accommodate practically every game engine under the sun.

Either way, I'm expecting some more interesting news to follow in the months to come, and indeed maybe already in December, so here's hoping that will actually happen.

But even if it doesn't, I still think the Switch has a good chance to appeal to a wider audience, either as a more mobile gaming console or as the infamous "companion console".

@ThanosReXXX I wake up every morning to about 2 dozen emails whether I'm on here or not. 98% spam - Amazon sends 3 -video, DotD, just for me - Monoprice, Newegg, Linked, Facebook, Twitter, PC Richard, Target, Ihop, Staples. And on NL sometimes like you when things are busy I reply on the article so I just ignore my emails b/c I know I have already replied to most of them.

This moring I have 10 NL emails, I'm guesing 8 or 2 from the 4GB RAM article wic I probably already replied to last night. And the old 48 are mostly form Facebook, all these people I barely know wishing me happy birthday, and FB sends an email for every 1. I wrote one "Thanks all" message on FB the next day so just ignored the emails. I do think your email address is in there somewhere but dont worry about too many comments from me.

But today is Halloween so now I need to go put up decorations before the trick-or-treaters come. I was going to do it yesterday but the torrential rain downpours and high winds made me think better of it. Sunny and 55` today.

@rjejr Ah, okay. I thought you were just talking about NLife emails. If I have to count my daily "normal" emails too, then I can definitely relate to 20 - 40 on average per day. I don't use any social media, so luckily, I'm devoid of a lot of invisible friends that I've never met wishing me either bad or good and possibly expecting some type of recognition or a reply...

And that email address of mine was just to provide a means for us to be able to communicate without restrictions, whenever applicable, or without having to edit or delete comments afterwards...
