Though Nintendo revealed a range of interesting details about the Nintendo Switch today, the desire for more information will now go up another notch. A priority for many, understandably, is to learn more about the games that are going to come to the system.
Now a tweet from the Hearthstone account has fans dreaming of seeing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft on the system.
In case you don't know, this is a hugely popular free-to-play game based on the Warcraft universe; it's a turn-based card-collecting title with a significant audience on streaming platforms like Twitch. It's also a big player in eSports.
There are a couple of reasons to be cautious about this. Though Activision is listed as a 'partner' for Nintendo Switch, Activision Blizzard / Blizzard Entertainment is not. There's also the fact that, at this moment, there's no certainty that the Switch will have a touchscreen, so an alternative control scheme would perhaps be required.
Time will tell whether this is some gentle teasing on social media or a sign of a game to come.

Well, that's cool. I've never played the game, but I hope they support the system
More support the better.
If they don't release it, that's a bizarre tweet to send.
If it doesn't have a touch screen that would be a major step back. Tablets and touch screens just go hand in hand.
Good if that were true. I was missing Blizzard itself among the partners. For Overwatch too. And I don't even play those games.
It has to mean that, what else could it mean? That would also prove that the Switch has a touch screen and online play.
Also, unless it's a physical release then wouldn't this also prove that the Switch has an E-Shop (since Hearthstone is a F2P download only game)?
I don't think it has to mean anything. I think it could just be Blizzard making fun of Nintendo's creepy Mario photo they posted yesterday.
Overwatch for Switch plz.
It'll have touch. No way you won't be able to play the new mobile games on the tablet part of the Switch. Next is what kind of OS will it run and will you have access to things like the Play Store and use it as a traditional tablet as well.
hey the more hats thrown into this race the better it is for nintendo.
That's awesome. I only played Hearthstone twice but I liked it. I'd buy it for the Switch.
@Spoony_Tech It's not really a tablet though, just a console with a screen. Also, given the fact that the screen will be hidden when it's docked, it doesn't really make sense to have a touch screen.
@Garo I don't think it will have a big enough player base for Overwatch.
Especially a couple articles back where people are saying that FPS games don't belong on Nintendo since no one would play them.
@Nintendo_Ninja Online play, and eshop? Are you sure?
Put Overwatch in there. I bet it does well: it's unique, aesthetically colorful and relatively light-hearted for a team-based FPS. I bet it resonates with the Nintendo audience.
@Xaessya If ports are dead simple, and made digital only, it will cost developers next to nothing to port a game to Switch.
I think this was just a joking tweet referencing the earlier picture of Mario poking his head out from behind a shower curtain. Much as I'd love more devices to play Hearthstone on, I don't think the Switch'll be one of them.
@the-madprofessor A portable screen and Nintendo has had touch screens going on now for 10 years. Wouldn't make sense to take that step backwards.
Would be nice to see Hearthstone on a Nintendo console. But like DrRandle said, it seems more like a joke than a hint at Blizzard porting Hearthstone over to the Switch.
That'd be really nice!! I'd also love for it to get Overwatch while they're at it 😊
U know...the simple fact that Bethesda and Blizzard are acknowledging the existence of a Nintendo platform is already a lot better than it has been.
Waaugh! That thumbnail scared me!
This makes me very happy! Seeing big companies support Nintendo for the first time in years! Hopefully I can get their games too!
@Spoony_Tech Because this is Nintendo, I'm expecting the display to not be a touchscreen. Not to be a pessimist but Nintendo generally takes one step forward and three steps back and as cool as the Switch appears to be, this seems no different. I'll wait patiently for details on this feature but I'd be legitimately surprised if it has touchscreen capabilities. Them skirting around the question leads me to believe the functionality isn't there. But we'll see.
@Spoony_Tech But if you don't need it, why increase costs by including it?
This was one of my first thoughts when they showed their support for eSports in the trailer. It seems like the easiest competitive game to bring over to the NS right now, and on top of Smash and Splatoon, gives them a pretty good core of games for an NS eSports event.
Switch on Twitch.
I like the sound of that.
I really just want Overwatch on the NS. Hearthstone would be neat. OVerwatch I think is a great FPS alternative that appeals to the Nintendo crowd (myself included), and would open up the playerbase to those who haven't jumped on XB or PS4 or have a PC to support it (or don't game on PC).
I Want Overwatch !
I'm curious, and my friends have urged me to play it for a while, but Android is a no-no - since the graphics reportedly have little optimization, the mobile version comes at a PC version data size which only gets bulkier by the update. I'm tired of big games filling up my phone memory as it is, and I'm not sure how effective transfers are anymore since Android started seeming increasingly prejudiced against external SD cards ( up to Opera Mobile refusing a download destination there or Cool Reader not even seeing it in storage). Long offtopic rant short, Hearthstone may well be another game I will experience thanks to Switch.
Even though I already have this game on my iPad, iPhone, Mac (and again on its Windows7 partition), I would totally get this again if it came to the Switch.
It would be interesting to see if it has controller support, as all versions have been touchscreen only until now (unless you count the stupid controller profile I made for the GPD XD.)
Nintendo seems to be pushing the eSports quite heavily know. They have Splatoon and Smash, adding Heartstone to that list would make sense.
Plus, even though Mario's image yesterday was a bit creepy, it is to weird that Blizzard twitted that if they didn't mean anything, specially when they haven't cared for Nintendo like.... ever?
@DrRandle
That makes the most sense to me
Looks like they're just referencing the creepy Mario pic that was doing the rounds this morning.
Could also be their way of telling Nintendo they're interested. I think both Hearthstone and Overwatch, though neither games I really got into myself, in particular would be a good fit for Nintendo's current audience.
Here's hoping if it's not hinting at something already happening it'll kick start it into happening!
The way NL keeps saying about the Switch not having a touch screen is making me feel like they actually have inside information and are just unable to officially announce the details due to NDAs or whatnot. Much like how they knew Tegra were involved since July but couldn't say anything about it.
I really hope it's got a touch screen.
Is this... actual third-party support? Actual actual support?
It's like seeing the light for the first time after years of darkness.
(I'd post either a pic of people coming out of a cave and adjusting to sunlight, Dale Dimmadome from the Fairly OddParents episode Nectar Of The Odds, or even the humans coming out of the spaceship at the end of Wall-E, but all I could find after an hour of searching is the following GIF and it will have to do)
So... Blizzard is gunna be sending in games, It's been since... about the Gameboy Advance Era. Well, i'm up for that.
Blizzard games are so good I actively avoid them incase I end up doing nothing else with my life. 😊
Considering the mobile style device, I would expect a lot more mobile support to start pouring in. This is just the beginning.
...Granted, I'm not interested in this case, because the mobile version of Hearthstone tracks your physical location in the world when you use it for some unknown reason.
Overwatch is a perfect fit.
It's odd that everyone figures there's a lack of touchscreen just because the trailer didn't show it. It didn't show motion controls either and that's practically confirmed to be happening.
If Blizzard brings Overwatch to the NX then I would for sure get one. I would love to be on break at work playing a quick match of Overwatch.
I'd play Hearthstone and Overwatch on Switch. I played Hearthstone for a month or so back when it came out and I'd like to try Overwatch. It looks like a lot of fun.
i dont like this game but this game is really popular on mobile so i hope they bring it to the switch
@KoopaTheGamer it is not competitve game because it has grinding but it is fun to play it against friends or the tavern brawl mode
This game is made with Unity (and is pretty great and a nice introduction to CCG, btw) so it will be an easy, easy port as long as touch is supported. It bares mentioning that using console controllers to play wouldn't be that bad or hard to pull off, so it's not proof.
There's no way this isn't a suggestion that the game is coming to NS. How would it be "just a joke"? It would be the least funny ever with a punchline that is a punch to the gut for some people.
I think Nintendo Life is trying very hard not to suggest the touch screen because they feel it's peculiar that it wasn't suggested at all in this reveal and they know Nintendo throws curve balls.
To me, I simply see it as something cut off in the very publicly acknowledged goal of clear messaging when it comes to the Nintendo Switch. You don't want people saying: "is it a tablet, then? Just runs mobile games? Waggle again? So it's motion controlled? What is this?" They wanted to say "traditional home gaming but you can take it on the go and play with friends anywhere." Everything else muddles that message, so "no touch, no waggle, no amiibo, no nuclear families with young kids" at this point.
@Nintendo-Ninja I never imagined there would be no eShop on Switch. That would be insane.
I would love Overwatch on the Switch.
@PlaytendoGuy
