Re: SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos Switch Physical Releases Announced

@LadyCharlie

1. Lol, no. If Nintendo for example announces the release date of "Game X" as "February 21st", that usually means both digital and physical will be available the same day. Sometimes physical is delayed, like with Pikmin 1 + 2, but this isn't the norm.
A digital release, with some LRG release 8+ months later, is not the same at all. The Tomb Raider collection is another example. I could've played it months ago, but having to wait on the weird/stupid, LRG/standard retail hybrid release is ridiculous. Another 7 months... 🤦‍♂️ At least it went to standard retail.

2. So it took them 10 years to reduce their shipping. slow clap 👏 You know how shipping could be reduced further? By just releasing a standard physical edition (like many Asian market releases), so I can get the benefit of free delivery. At least with the multi-billion dollar publishers, they can afford it.

3. My first few Switch games were all fine, I never said they weren't (and you'd know this if you engaged in good faith with the critics)... until Scott Pilgrim. That's when I knew LRG was not on the level.
You don't need to have experienced it (3DO issue) directly. It was widely reported. LRG immediately acknowledged it admitted they f-ed up, and that they hadn't disclosed what their release plan was. LRG literally were hoping no one would notice. That's plain-faced deceitful business practice. Either you're calling all those customers liars, or you're defending dishonest business dealings; that's exactly what a tool of something would do, as I was pointing out.

Since you've given zero pause to any of the legit criticisms of LRG, and are still shaming those of us who continue to bring awareness to the ongoing issues with this company and their practices, it's fair game to offer an impression of you; "SQUAK! 🦜 LRG PERFECT! LRG ALWAYS RIGHT! SQUAK!" 🦜

@Pak-Man Getting stuff isn't the issue, it's waiting upwards of a year that' is one valid criticism.
Also, multi-billion dollar publishers shouldn't be using a company founded on getting indie games to retail. Some of their other products are also not as advertised (3DO copies of "D", Scott Pilgrim) , plus being partnered with Embracer Group is not good.

@LadyCharlie That's very dishonest. There are multiple, fair, legitimate reasons to criticize LRG. You either don't care, or choose to keep your head in the sand. The long wait times, the increasing reliance on established IPs from MB$ publishers, using low-quality CD-Rs for 3DO games, Scott Pilgrim requiring an online check, oh and they're also owned by Embracer Group, the literal worst gaming company in the industry.

At this point, after all this, you're a tool of LRG. 🤷‍♂️

@DTFaux I wouldn't view AI tools like ChatGPT as a "culture war" "issue"; unlike most of "that" hyperbolic nonsense that isn't worth the time of day, AI is an actual tool, a useful one at that, and now that it exists, that isn't a cat that can be put back into its bag at all, regardless of the subset of people who cry hysterically about it. 💼❌🐈
AI has been a godsend for me for coming up with topics/points to write about for school assignments.

Personally, I miss the days of All Ur Base and other poorly translated text; it's beyond hilarious and charming. 😂

Re: Feature: 9 'Mature' Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online's New N64 App

EVIL-C

@SillyG My very first original introduction to Doom was the SNES port, which if you haven't experienced before, was kinda rough to say the least, lol. 😂 So I didn't have the luxury of the expansions, in addition to the cuts and downgrades for consoles of the time. I did play some of that additional content when I was going through the entire series from I to Doom 3 on Switch, and it's amazing how well it still holds up today, even to an essentially new player. 😍 And with how good the reboot Series has been so far, I'm very excited for Dark Ages. 😁

@RygelXVIII Ironically, I find Nintendo's cloud saves to be the most reliable at actually retaining my save data, as the occasional Steam title save has been wonky for me. Same with Xbox's save feature. 7 years later, and my Switch is still getting regular active use. As cool as Steamdeck is, at this point, it's just a waiting game until Switch 2.

Re: Soapbox: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Won't Be The Franchise's 'BOTW Moment', And That's Okay

EVIL-C

@nocdaes If you have to ask yourself "why would I play MP4?" after playing dread and Prime 1 remaster, clearly Metroid Prime 4 isn't for you. I'm a die-hard fan of Metroid and the Prime series since 2002, and Prime 4 is exactly what I was expecting.

I greatly dislike it when people criticize a games' direction, but don't give one single idea or suggestion as to what they would do that's so radically different. The original Prime was the radical change for the Metroid series, let's not lose sight of that. The only thing I can think of is to make Metroid a third person action adventure game, maybe something like Uncharted, as to preserve the platforming elements, which I would also be down for.
But then it wouldn't be Prime, so I wouldn't want it to have the Prime name. I would prefer it to have a different title; Metroid Delta or something, and begin a new subseries. What would you do that's so radically different? It's not like we can make Prime into a pinball game or some-oh wait... 😜

And then regarding the whole breath of the Wild angle, which is weird to me, as much as I enjoyed BOTW, it doesn't replace the traditional Zelda formula, at least for me. I hope we get another Zelda in the style of ocarina, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess again.

P. S. MP Pinball was actually awesome. ❤

@Picola-Wicola Bring up the main menu and select solo missions for single player.
The Carrington Institute is literally a training area, with a firing range on the 1st floor, with some additional weapon challenges to do.

Combat simulator is the multiplayer mode, complete with bots. You'll also find 30 special challenge scenarios against a team of bots for up to 4 players to attempt. You can also issue orders to bots on your MP team. 8 bots + 4 players matches back in the day got insanely hectic and fun.

PD also has a full campaign co-op mode, as well as a "Counter-Op" mode where one player controls an enemy soilder and tries to stop Jo.

PD had it all (even hidden pieces of cheese in many levels, lol). Truly a groundbreaking game. It took everything Goldeneye did right, and refined, upgraded and enhanced the hell out of it. Hence why it remains my all-time favourite FPS, which I still return to now and then. Hope you give it another try when not rushed.

I find it truly facinating the platform split of Hogwarts, not to mention it's staying power, as well as Fifa 24 doing so well on Switch, given EA's awful "Legacy Edition" crap they've been pulling in recent years. Just goes to show that when a console sells well, putting effort into porting games to it will often pay off.
