Re: Feature: 20 Great Gaming Accounts You Should Follow On Bluesky

@SpaceboyScreams The people who hold up Muskrat as some 6D-chess playing mastermind genius is truly the hilarious thing here. Twitter is still bleeding money. The PIB bots are everywhere. I get pushed porn and outright nazi content that I dont want nor solicit, and yet valid criticism for Emperor Muskrat is bad? LOL whatever.

Re: WayForward's 'Clock Tower' Switch Port Receives Stunning Physical Editions

EVIL-C

@Wexter I can't tell you how many games I've discovered years later, only to find out it was an LRG print, so I've often been SOL in getting a reasonably priced physical copy. That's when I hope there's an Asian English copy available. The newer Shantae titles are probably the best example; limited, rare AF in North America if one missed the window, common and easily found in Asia English reigions, even today.

You not see the giant ๐Ÿ as my avatar? You're talking Best Buy and Amazon US. Our Best Buy doesn't carry LRG (overpriced 3rd party marketplace sellers don't count; seriously $201.39 for PS4 Star Wars Bounty Hunter?! EBay is half of that or better) and for me to order from Amazon US, that's about $20 shipping. The same BS were I to order from LRG's site directly, compared to $0 were it a standard retail store release. Even though your location lists Canada, for all I know, you have family or friends in the US. I don't. Or you travel there frequently for work, or it's outdated, or you live right near the border, etc. Could be a hundred possibilities. That's none of my business. So no, I'm afraid you are wrong, it's not "easily" in the slightest for me personally.

Niche games.... Like Castlevania and Contra...from Konami. Like various Star Wars games... from Disney. Like various Doom titles... from Bethesda. Like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon... from Ubisoft. All these multi-billion dollar experienced gaming publishers with huge brands, using a (Formally) indie label, which titles are apparently as niche as Catlateral Damage or Double Switch, it seems.

I think your effort to bend over backwards and defend them, while downplaying valid criticism of their business model, ethics and conduct, especially after the latest 3DO burnt CD fiasco, is both ignorant to the concerns and naive generally.

Re: WayForward's 'Clock Tower' Switch Port Receives Stunning Physical Editions

EVIL-C

@LadyCharlie $20 to ship 1 game. Ridiculous wait times. Artificial FOMO business model. Some games like Scott Pilgrim still requiring an online collection to work. Trying to secretly pass off burnt CD-R 3DO title without being transparent about the compatibility problem at all.

Not to mention all WayForward titles in North America are held hostage by LRG, whereas in other territories they usually get standard releases. I recently got River City girls 1&2 compilation from Asia as a massive eff you to LRG, and it still ended up being cheaper than the seperate NA releases. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So yes, plenty of reasons to despise this company. But go ahead, ignore legitimate criticism from customers burned by them. Squak LRGISPERFECT Squak! ๐Ÿฆ

@pneumaticgnosis Until one says something lord muskrat doesn't like, hmm? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lol, beyond comical that that clown has suckered millions into thinking he's their saviour or something. Gross indeed, especially the PIB bots. ๐Ÿ’ฉer is a train wreck of a train wreck.

@KingMike If you weren't aware, eventually they stop replying/ignore criticism.

Oh, and to directly answer your question, THIS is the kind of unprofessionalism bull๐Ÿ’ฉ I now expect from the current LRG. Surprise, surprise... ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ https://www.timeextension.com/news/2024/05/limited-run-games-accused-of-shipping-premium-3do-games-on-cd-rs

Four games about cats in one week. ๐Ÿ˜ณ The cat game coming up soon that everyone should have at #1 on their cat game list is Little Kitty, Big City. ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐Ÿข๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ

Re: Contra: Operation Galuga Limited Run Classic & Ultimate Edition Revealed, Pre-Orders Live

@KingMike Lol, really? You're comparing a boutique publisher to both Nintendo and Square? Nintendo and Square (& Enix) have had decades-long working relationships with Nintendo. Square was one of the very few developers who Nintendo trusted enough with any of their IPs; I'm thinking specifically of Mario RPG. That relationship has continued. Nintendo could decide tomorrow that they won't be publishing any more Square-developed titles, and it wouldn't effect them much at all. (I struggle to think of any Nintendo IPs actually published by Square, as Mario RPG was a co-op venture, published ultimately by Nintendo). Nintendo and Square are not indie studios, nor are they really in the business of publishing indie-made titles.
The entire point you seemed to miss is that the entire point of LRG was to help indies get more exposure; specifically, give them a pass to phsycial retail. We have seen a dramatic shift away from this philosophy, to the point they are helping to create artificial FOMO shortages by courting multi-billion dollar PUBLISHERS who already have the means and infrastructure to SELF-PUBLISH their own titles, like Nintendo and Square do frequently. If you fail to realize that Disney, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Konami, etc. are using this as a shortcut, when they can already self-publish, and potentially denying a release to a great indie title (again, LRGs original purpose), then I don't know what else to tell you. It's a clear bastardization of LRGs original purpose and philosophy.

Re: Electronic Arts Cuts 5% Of Workforce, Closes Studio And Cancels Games

EVIL-C

@Zeebor15 I hate getting political on here, but as nearly everything is politicized now, basically that bigot is blaming minorities for ALLLLLL the current problems related with industry layoffs (similarly with the recent Boeing fiasco, and subsequent conspiracy), and overlooks the facts like games with bloated budgets, uninteresting stories or characters, bland gameplay, etc.. are all the classic and most logical reasons of why a game might flop. Gaming has always been creatively diverse, but now budgets are so bloated, one flop can ruin an entire studio. Costs need to come down, not reduce diverse ideas and individuals.

Re: Electronic Arts Cuts 5% Of Workforce, Closes Studio And Cancels Games

EVIL-C

Not surprised at all coming from EA, one of the worst gaming companies in the world. This layoff problem is only gonna get worse before it gets better.

@Purgatorium Because that isn't journalism. Most people who write about games haven't the first clue about analysis or standard journalistic practices. Ages ago, I heard the term "fanboys with paycheques", and it has seemingly remained a fairly apt descriptor in most cases.

@IsThis5or6 Literally no. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ That's just coded, right-wing talking points that are completely baseless. Try pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into bloated game budgets, only to have it flop. Combining it with over-expansion of studios far too fast, combined with big budget games bombing. These are major culprits. It's a capitalism problem. But sure, blame minorities. Unbelievable. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
