Re: Feature: 9 'Mature' Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online's New N64 App

EVIL-C

@SillyG My very first original introduction to Doom was the SNES port, which if you haven't experienced before, was kinda rough to say the least, lol. 😂 So I didn't have the luxury of the expansions, in addition to the cuts and downgrades for consoles of the time. I did play some of that additional content when I was going through the entire series from I to Doom 3 on Switch, and it's amazing how well it still holds up today, even to an essentially new player. 😍 And with how good the reboot Series has been so far, I'm very excited for Dark Ages. 😁

@RygelXVIII Ironically, I find Nintendo's cloud saves to be the most reliable at actually retaining my save data, as the occasional Steam title save has been wonky for me. Same with Xbox's save feature. 7 years later, and my Switch is still getting regular active use. As cool as Steamdeck is, at this point, it's just a waiting game until Switch 2.

@nocdaes If you have to ask yourself "why would I play MP4?" after playing dread and Prime 1 remaster, clearly Metroid Prime 4 isn't for you. I'm a die-hard fan of Metroid and the Prime series since 2002, and Prime 4 is exactly what I was expecting.

I greatly dislike it when people criticize a games' direction, but don't give one single idea or suggestion as to what they would do that's so radically different. The original Prime was the radical change for the Metroid series, let's not lose sight of that. The only thing I can think of is to make Metroid a third person action adventure game, maybe something like Uncharted, as to preserve the platforming elements, which I would also be down for.
But then it wouldn't be Prime, so I wouldn't want it to have the Prime name. I would prefer it to have a different title; Metroid Delta or something, and begin a new subseries. What would you do that's so radically different? It's not like we can make Prime into a pinball game or some-oh wait... 😜

And then regarding the whole breath of the Wild angle, which is weird to me, as much as I enjoyed BOTW, it doesn't replace the traditional Zelda formula, at least for me. I hope we get another Zelda in the style of ocarina, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess again.

P. S. MP Pinball was actually awesome. ❤

@Picola-Wicola Bring up the main menu and select solo missions for single player.
The Carrington Institute is literally a training area, with a firing range on the 1st floor, with some additional weapon challenges to do.

Combat simulator is the multiplayer mode, complete with bots. You'll also find 30 special challenge scenarios against a team of bots for up to 4 players to attempt. You can also issue orders to bots on your MP team. 8 bots + 4 players matches back in the day got insanely hectic and fun.

PD also has a full campaign co-op mode, as well as a "Counter-Op" mode where one player controls an enemy soilder and tries to stop Jo.

PD had it all (even hidden pieces of cheese in many levels, lol). Truly a groundbreaking game. It took everything Goldeneye did right, and refined, upgraded and enhanced the hell out of it. Hence why it remains my all-time favourite FPS, which I still return to now and then. Hope you give it another try when not rushed.

I find it truly facinating the platform split of Hogwarts, not to mention it's staying power, as well as Fifa 24 doing so well on Switch, given EA's awful "Legacy Edition" crap they've been pulling in recent years. Just goes to show that when a console sells well, putting effort into porting games to it will often pay off.

@SpaceboyScreams The people who hold up Muskrat as some 6D-chess playing mastermind genius is truly the hilarious thing here. Twitter is still bleeding money. The PIB bots are everywhere. I get pushed porn and outright nazi content that I dont want nor solicit, and yet valid criticism for Emperor Muskrat is bad? LOL whatever.

Re: WayForward's 'Clock Tower' Switch Port Receives Stunning Physical Editions

EVIL-C

@Wexter I can't tell you how many games I've discovered years later, only to find out it was an LRG print, so I've often been SOL in getting a reasonably priced physical copy. That's when I hope there's an Asian English copy available. The newer Shantae titles are probably the best example; limited, rare AF in North America if one missed the window, common and easily found in Asia English reigions, even today.

You not see the giant 🍁 as my avatar? You're talking Best Buy and Amazon US. Our Best Buy doesn't carry LRG (overpriced 3rd party marketplace sellers don't count; seriously $201.39 for PS4 Star Wars Bounty Hunter?! EBay is half of that or better) and for me to order from Amazon US, that's about $20 shipping. The same BS were I to order from LRG's site directly, compared to $0 were it a standard retail store release. Even though your location lists Canada, for all I know, you have family or friends in the US. I don't. Or you travel there frequently for work, or it's outdated, or you live right near the border, etc. Could be a hundred possibilities. That's none of my business. So no, I'm afraid you are wrong, it's not "easily" in the slightest for me personally.

Niche games.... Like Castlevania and Contra...from Konami. Like various Star Wars games... from Disney. Like various Doom titles... from Bethesda. Like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon... from Ubisoft. All these multi-billion dollar experienced gaming publishers with huge brands, using a (Formally) indie label, which titles are apparently as niche as Catlateral Damage or Double Switch, it seems.

I think your effort to bend over backwards and defend them, while downplaying valid criticism of their business model, ethics and conduct, especially after the latest 3DO burnt CD fiasco, is both ignorant to the concerns and naive generally.

Re: WayForward's 'Clock Tower' Switch Port Receives Stunning Physical Editions

EVIL-C

@LadyCharlie $20 to ship 1 game. Ridiculous wait times. Artificial FOMO business model. Some games like Scott Pilgrim still requiring an online collection to work. Trying to secretly pass off burnt CD-R 3DO title without being transparent about the compatibility problem at all.

Not to mention all WayForward titles in North America are held hostage by LRG, whereas in other territories they usually get standard releases. I recently got River City girls 1&2 compilation from Asia as a massive eff you to LRG, and it still ended up being cheaper than the seperate NA releases. 😂

So yes, plenty of reasons to despise this company. But go ahead, ignore legitimate criticism from customers burned by them. Squak LRGISPERFECT Squak! 🐦

@KingMike If you weren't aware, eventually they stop replying/ignore criticism.

Oh, and to directly answer your question, THIS is the kind of unprofessionalism bull💩 I now expect from the current LRG. Surprise, surprise... 😒🤦‍♂️ https://www.timeextension.com/news/2024/05/limited-run-games-accused-of-shipping-premium-3do-games-on-cd-rs

Stop defending these a-holes.
