Re: Former Assassin's Creed Lead Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Game-Key Cards

EVIL-C

@Woops My home is smoke-free, child free, have only had 1 cat in the last 20 years, I keep my devices in the same location (save handhelds), and when I haven't used them for a while I'll often box them up in their original boxes, like my GC. They're kept out of the light. They are kept on shelves, not on carpet. I am always very careful not to knock or drop them if I'm cleaning them or the shelves they sit on. They have plenty of space for air to circulate around the consoles. I clean them when they are out. I don't have extreme temperature differences in my house either. So what exactly have I done to mistreat my things? How have I been negligent? You're happy to throw accusations, so please, enlighten me. How?

The problem with people like you is that you use your own anecdotal experience as the baseline, and that since you personally haven't had an issue, it must be that everyone else is mistreating their things. Things break down, no matter how well you take care of it. My N64, DS, VITA, NES, Wii U, Switch, PS4/5, 360/Xbone/XSX etc are all fine.

Did you ever think for a moment that since I have heavily, heavily played and enjoyed these consoles, most for decades at this point, that that might be a main contributor into why they have had components that have failed?

Again, bad take. You need to be less ignorant.

@Woops Terrible take. ๐Ÿ˜’ My SNES graphics chip went bad several years ago, had to repair it. My GC just recently stopped reading discs. I also had that GC 1019 memory card fail on me. My Wii completely died. I've had numerous save batteries fail which I've replaced. And I've just ordered a replacement battery for my N3DSXL. I'm someone who does their best to take care of my stuff, and yet failures still happen. Consoles will fail, it's a question of when. Good luck downloading any of those keycard games in the future, whereas I love buying retro carts and discs to this day knowing that they're still working and playable.

Re: Lunar Remastered Dev Apologises For Stock Issues After Rocky Physical Launch

EVIL-C

@joeyflannel @Pipulitoch @Andee @Zeebor15 Even though Lunar isn't directly related to LRG/fairhurst and their ridiculous fomo, this is proof that a game like Lunar can and should get a regular release, and that we're getting constantly screwed by Ubisoft, Konami, Sega, MS, Disney, etc.. relying on them and this crap. Yet Gung-ho, despite being tiny in size compared to these entities, can do a normal retail release... ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I am beyond fed up and frustrated with this fake fomo, and LRG is the biggest offender. (plus their corner-cutting and fairhurst being a total scumbag on top of the fomo ๐Ÿ’ฉ only worsens things)

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

@PikminMarioKirby The scientific evidence heavily suggests otherwise. Unless you have scientific, peer-reviewed double blind studies to back up your claim, the consensus is games, much like film, music, etc, do not cause violence.

Ubisoft are no saints, but at the end of the day, banning media is terrible, having less choice is terrible. It's up to the consumer to decide what media they engage with, not private companies, tech bro a-holes nor governments.

@PikminMarioKirby I think this sums it up pretty well. https://www.ign.com/articles/the-prime-minister-of-japan-responded-to-a-question-about-assassins-creed-shadows-today-heres-whats-actually-going-on

For one I have never believed the claim that games cause real world violence. That scapegoat is long dead. It's been debunked in many studies. To the extent that some foreign visitors have been acting like ๐Ÿ’ฉ heads in Japan, especially recently, like harassing geishas in Kyoto, punish those specific offenders. Collective punishment breeds hatred and ruins things for everyone else.

Re: Nintendo Removes Variable Refresh Rate TV Mention On Switch 2 Websites

EVIL-C

@electrolite77 Also let's not forget the general bias against Nintendo that the Western gaming media has had since at least the GameCube era; "Nintendo's going 3rd party any day now!" "Is the GC Nintendo's last console?!?!" and all that BS. If YouTube had existed in 2000, there would be a million videos of angry YouTubers ranting about how the downfall of Nintendo was imminent.
Most Publishers didn't even try with the Wii U. The system showed it had potential running major third party titles like Assassin's Creed 3 and 4 and Arkham City. Publishers would always say "oh just grow the installed base and we'll support you", but that caveat is never required with Playstation or Xbox. And then we saw how well the switch sold, and still a lot of major series that could have run just fine on the Switch, like Call of Duty or battlefield, those never came either. That proved how full of ๐Ÿ’ฉ these publishers always were. We still never found out what happened to that "unprecedented partnership" with EA. ๐Ÿค”

Re: UK Charts: A Strong Xenoblade Debut Can't Escape Assassin's Creed's Shadow

EVIL-C

@somnambulance That's encouraging. ๐Ÿฅน Ironically the last AC I played was Black Flag. I loved it but I was completely burnt out of the series afterwards. Since Ghost of Tsushima is such a masterpiece, I naturally want more of that, so Shadows I have been following closely. I just don't want to pay full price for an Ubisoft game since it'll likely get a price cut very quickly.

Re: Switch 2 Predicted To Cost "$400 Or More"

EVIL-C

@Jiggies Someone clearly doesn't understand inflation or economics. With that logic, a movie ticket should still cost 10 cents. It ain't happening.
Also, prices change based on currency value. The PS4 actually went up $50 in Canada years after release since our dollar has been tanking since 2013. While US currency hasn't changed much during the PS5 generation, the source countries where materials are collected from, plus labour costs, those have changed. Hence, expecting the same $300 USD for a Switch 2 is just beyond silly.
Also, don't even get me started on the looming chump tarrifs. It pays to have some understanding of a topic, rather than "baaaahhh thing be cheaper cause baahhhhh".
