Re: Nintendo Has "No Plans" To Use Game-Key Cards For First-Party-Developed Titles

EVIL-C

@WaddleDee Sigh... It's a colloquial term. HAL is an independent, third party studio, which publishes 1st party games for Nintendo under contract. HAL self-publishes their mobile games, further showcasing their 3rd party status.

"2nd party" is not a real thing. I used to believe it was also, until I learned the legality of it all.

Again, we don't need further confusion.

Gamechat also includes just voice, which everyone seems to be forgetting. I'm sure Devs could restrict camera usage to free up more RAM. If every other platform can have voice chat built in, isn't it time Nintendo had the same? No need for some BS app or hearing background sound filtered through my phone will be a godsend.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Chip Was Potentially Finalised As Early As 2021

@WiltonRoots Most YTer takes are horrible. "Everything sucks, it's terrible, that was awful, doom and gloom!!" etc, etc, all for clicks and clout. It's like they all operate out of a singular hive mind... But negativity sells, so they have zero incentive to change and actually be honest about what they think, rather than" what will get the biggest reaction? ".

Side note, and I always questioned why suddenly Digital foundry became in essence the sole authority on everything performance-related. It's so strange... 🤔

Re: Rumour: New Leak May Explain Why So Many Switch 2 Physicals Are Game Key Cards

EVIL-C

@DanijoEX-The-Kumiho Physical media sales, be they games or film, is down across the board. We have sales data to back this up. DVDs are still made because they're cheap and presumably still profitable enough to warrant them, but physical is a shrinking market. This isn't opinion.
Also many parts of the developing world never moved past DVD where they remain plentiful and cheap and the preferred type of hard copy.

Re: Former Assassin's Creed Lead Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Game-Key Cards

@Woops My home is smoke-free, child free, have only had 1 cat in the last 20 years, I keep my devices in the same location (save handhelds), and when I haven't used them for a while I'll often box them up in their original boxes, like my GC. They're kept out of the light. They are kept on shelves, not on carpet. I am always very careful not to knock or drop them if I'm cleaning them or the shelves they sit on. They have plenty of space for air to circulate around the consoles. I clean them when they are out. I don't have extreme temperature differences in my house either. So what exactly have I done to mistreat my things? How have I been negligent? You're happy to throw accusations, so please, enlighten me. How?

The problem with people like you is that you use your own anecdotal experience as the baseline, and that since you personally haven't had an issue, it must be that everyone else is mistreating their things. Things break down, no matter how well you take care of it. My N64, DS, VITA, NES, Wii U, Switch, PS4/5, 360/Xbone/XSX etc are all fine.

Did you ever think for a moment that since I have heavily, heavily played and enjoyed these consoles, most for decades at this point, that that might be a main contributor into why they have had components that have failed?

Again, bad take. You need to be less ignorant.

@Woops Terrible take. 😒 My SNES graphics chip went bad several years ago, had to repair it. My GC just recently stopped reading discs. I also had that GC 1019 memory card fail on me. My Wii completely died. I've had numerous save batteries fail which I've replaced. And I've just ordered a replacement battery for my N3DSXL. I'm someone who does their best to take care of my stuff, and yet failures still happen. Consoles will fail, it's a question of when. Good luck downloading any of those keycard games in the future, whereas I love buying retro carts and discs to this day knowing that they're still working and playable.

Re: Lunar Remastered Dev Apologises For Stock Issues After Rocky Physical Launch

EVIL-C

@joeyflannel @Pipulitoch @Andee @Zeebor15 Even though Lunar isn't directly related to LRG/fairhurst and their ridiculous fomo, this is proof that a game like Lunar can and should get a regular release, and that we're getting constantly screwed by Ubisoft, Konami, Sega, MS, Disney, etc.. relying on them and this crap. Yet Gung-ho, despite being tiny in size compared to these entities, can do a normal retail release... 🤦‍♂️ I am beyond fed up and frustrated with this fake fomo, and LRG is the biggest offender. (plus their corner-cutting and fairhurst being a total scumbag on top of the fomo 💩 only worsens things)

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

@PikminMarioKirby The scientific evidence heavily suggests otherwise. Unless you have scientific, peer-reviewed double blind studies to back up your claim, the consensus is games, much like film, music, etc, do not cause violence.

Ubisoft are no saints, but at the end of the day, banning media is terrible, having less choice is terrible. It's up to the consumer to decide what media they engage with, not private companies, tech bro a-holes nor governments.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

@PikminMarioKirby I think this sums it up pretty well. https://www.ign.com/articles/the-prime-minister-of-japan-responded-to-a-question-about-assassins-creed-shadows-today-heres-whats-actually-going-on

For one I have never believed the claim that games cause real world violence. That scapegoat is long dead. It's been debunked in many studies. To the extent that some foreign visitors have been acting like 💩 heads in Japan, especially recently, like harassing geishas in Kyoto, punish those specific offenders. Collective punishment breeds hatred and ruins things for everyone else.
