Four games about cats in one week. 😳 The cat game coming up soon that everyone should have at #1 on their cat game list is Little Kitty, Big City. 🐈⬛🏢🥹❤️
@KingMike If you can't see the downsides with this continued practices, then there's nothing else I can add. But know that you're just contributing to this problem. 🤷♂️
@LadyCharlie At this point, with Wayforwards long history, studio size, and in recent years their overly-close relationship with LRG, labeling them "indie" is a big stretch.
@KingMike Lol, really? You're comparing a boutique publisher to both Nintendo and Square? Nintendo and Square (& Enix) have had decades-long working relationships with Nintendo. Square was one of the very few developers who Nintendo trusted enough with any of their IPs; I'm thinking specifically of Mario RPG. That relationship has continued. Nintendo could decide tomorrow that they won't be publishing any more Square-developed titles, and it wouldn't effect them much at all. (I struggle to think of any Nintendo IPs actually published by Square, as Mario RPG was a co-op venture, published ultimately by Nintendo). Nintendo and Square are not indie studios, nor are they really in the business of publishing indie-made titles.
The entire point you seemed to miss is that the entire point of LRG was to help indies get more exposure; specifically, give them a pass to phsycial retail. We have seen a dramatic shift away from this philosophy, to the point they are helping to create artificial FOMO shortages by courting multi-billion dollar PUBLISHERS who already have the means and infrastructure to SELF-PUBLISH their own titles, like Nintendo and Square do frequently. If you fail to realize that Disney, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Konami, etc. are using this as a shortcut, when they can already self-publish, and potentially denying a release to a great indie title (again, LRGs original purpose), then I don't know what else to tell you. It's a clear bastardization of LRGs original purpose and philosophy.
@rvcolem1 It was Tuesday. That used to be the release day for Nintendo and much of the industry. It's been Friday for years now, I just don't recall when that changed. Some publishers still releases on Tuesday, though.
@Zeebor15 I hate getting political on here, but as nearly everything is politicized now, basically that bigot is blaming minorities for ALLLLLL the current problems related with industry layoffs (similarly with the recent Boeing fiasco, and subsequent conspiracy), and overlooks the facts like games with bloated budgets, uninteresting stories or characters, bland gameplay, etc.. are all the classic and most logical reasons of why a game might flop. Gaming has always been creatively diverse, but now budgets are so bloated, one flop can ruin an entire studio. Costs need to come down, not reduce diverse ideas and individuals.
@HammerKirby Yep exactly, and blame also falls onto Konami, a multi billion dollar, decades-long GAME PUBLISHER, using limited run, to publish their games.
This 💩 has gotten absolutely out of hand. SMH. 🤦♂️
Not surprised at all coming from EA, one of the worst gaming companies in the world. This layoff problem is only gonna get worse before it gets better.
@Purgatorium Because that isn't journalism. Most people who write about games haven't the first clue about analysis or standard journalistic practices. Ages ago, I heard the term "fanboys with paycheques", and it has seemingly remained a fairly apt descriptor in most cases.
@IsThis5or6 Literally no. 🤦♂️ That's just coded, right-wing talking points that are completely baseless. Try pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into bloated game budgets, only to have it flop. Combining it with over-expansion of studios far too fast, combined with big budget games bombing. These are major culprits. It's a capitalism problem. But sure, blame minorities. Unbelievable. 🤦♂️
@AstroTheGamosian Meanwhile, games that get standard releases, not the FOMO limited time crap that LRG pushes, many are still available easily years later at retail, without some arbitrary cut-off date. Not counting this GBA novelty, Shantae games for modern platforms like Switch, PS, etc. also get standard releases in other regions, like Asia. They're not held hostage by LRG like in North America.
@Aneira That's the issue. Many of us are interested, but we're sick of seeing multibillion dollar companies like Microsoft, Konami, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Disney, etc. using a boutique publisher that was originally geared to providing indie titles a chance at retail. We're sick of paying $15-20 just for shipping. We're sick of the 1-year+ turnaround times on most of their stuff. We're sick of seeing games that would otherwise cost a reasonable amount, balloon to $150 and higher because of this artificial FOMO one-print-only BS. Do you know what Nintendo did when, for example, Torna: The Golden Country was OOP, and the game was selling used for $100+? THEY PRINTED MORE. Suddenly, I could get a copy for a reasonable price again, which I finally was able to. Good luck doing that for anything from LRG a few years down the line, when you discover an interesting new game and check for a physical version. 😳
Their release of Scott Pilgrim even requires Ubisoft Connect to even get it to work, DESPITE having the physical copy. This defeats the entire purpose of buying a supposed "complete, fully playable offline" hard copy.
Limited Run is a cancer on the industry. It was commendable at one time when they were legitimately helping indies get to retail, but now its been completely bastardized. There is absolutely ZERO reason they couldn't offer a second round of preorders on very popular, expensive titles, like for example the Switch version of Shantae and the Pirates Curse. It's pure artificial, FOMO nonsense.
@GrailUK Reuters has been around since 1851, and they're also based in the UK; London specifically. Being from the UK and not knowing the name at least, is quite surprising.
Anyway, this "exclusive", didn't tell us anything we didn't already presume; 2024 release date, with a custom Nvidia chip, like every other rumour. 🤷♂️
I'm still expecting a few new announcements. Probably a couple more remakes, or something in that vein. Peach is the only new game on that list, aside from Prime 4. Hopefully we'll get a direct soon... 😰
@HeadPirate Yeah fair enough. I re-watched the debut trailer and it does raise questions. Nintendo could've communicated the specifics a little better of what the seemingly non-platforming levels will be like. What's the level progression like? Will some of these, like the Patisserie Peach game, be a mini-game or an entire level? I've no doubt it'll be a fun game, but Nintendo should've given more details about it by now.
@Uncle_Franklin I can see you're going on the ignore list. I buy 100% of my games. To accuse me of piracy was stepping over the line, kid. Lol. Stealing = bad, happy now? Here's some free advice for life, especially for the internet: CHILL OUT. Bye-bye. 👋
@Uncle_Franklin All this time that I've been aware of the original headline "Bowser Pirates Nintendo Games", and it was only clearly pointed out now he too was from Toronto; yes, that makes it a coincidence to me. 🤷♂️
@AstroTheGamosian I remember when the PS3 could conveniently rip soundtracks. I got some soundtrack CDs 💿 through Wii games, Nintendo Power magazine issues, and other random CE's, and I'd just rip them all onto the PS3 effortlessly, Hahaha. 😂
But I do agree with you that more companies should add their official game soundtracks to audio streaming platforms. They're great for listening to. Some of the best music ever composed was created for a video game, and many are just as enjoyable listening to on their own outside of their respective games. 🙂🎶
@AstroTheGamosian The soundtrack addition is nice, I must admit. 💿 It should be mandated that every CE of a game include one, be it a digital code or physical CD. 🧐
@RupeeClock Yeah I did see those updates. That may address, at least on paper, some of the multitude of criticism of LRG. We'll see. I'm just grateful to have the last North American 3DS release and was lucky to not miss it. Finally... 🙏
@AstroTheGamosian Same, I legit wanted a hard copy. I loved Pirates Curse all the way back when it released digitally. Never bought the Rising Star published copy, so I bought both the regular and CE of this one. Onto my shelf it shall go. Thus, I shut up, and LRG took my money. Sigh... 😓

30FPS is fine. It's a freaking turn-based RPG. Snobs ruin everything, and poison the minds of many others. Ugh.
