For Switch, I might go for the physical. I just don't have a lot of space to spare on my memory card. Too bad Switch can't run games from external hard drives. 😑

I wouldn't mind seeing Samus have some adventures that don't involve metroids. I don't know how well the fans would adapt though.

At first I was excited for a Switch release. Now I'm starting to think I'd have been better off never hearing about the game to begin with.

@Gwynbleidd I'm not quite ready to accept the probability that Nintendo deliberately puts flaws in their hardware, but at this point, nothing would surprise me. I might have to just give up video games so I don't have to support people that deliberately ***** their customers over (it's bad enough that they ***** the people who make their hardware over), but then I'd probably need to give up electronics entirely.
Regardless, this problem didn't develop over time, it was pretty much there from the beginning. I don't have to press the L button really hard to get a response, but it's annoying that sometimes a simple tap won't do.

@Gwynbleidd That's a pretty bad design flaw since I had each controller for less than a month. A $70 controller should be flawless.

The game is supposed to be easier but the candle is out of reach and there's no clue where to find the high jump ability. I hate this bait crap.

@Gwynbleidd It's the L button on the Pro controller. I took the damn thing back twice and still have the same problem. I found out that it's a common problem too and I wish I never bought it. I can't think of every single flaw a device can possibly have before I try it out. The A button on the Xbox One controller has a similar issue.

I'm less excited for fighting games on Switch than I was before, namely because the Pro controller has issues with button sensitivity and buttons are not a very good alternative to a proper d-pad on the left Joy-con. Honestly, I'm kinda mad at Nintendo at this point.

These are actually a great fit for the Switch, especially considering the social aspect Nintendo seems to be advertising with it. Hopefully there won't be any input lag like Alien Isolation. I wonder if four people can use individual Switches in multiplayer mode. There will be multiplayer, right?

It's not really my kind of game, but I'm glad I got to try it out. I guess I'm just not into having to avoid invincible enemies and constantly counter rushing enemies.

I doubt the game would have ended up even half as good as Super Mario World, but it looks like it might have been better than Hotel Mario.

I'd trade shoddy overpriced emulation to bring physical rewards back.

Even if this had a better control stick, could be used flawlessly on a PC or phone, and could be effectively connected to a Controller Pak or Transfer Pak, I'm still not sure I'd want to buy this controller. Without those features, it's a total ripoff, especially since the buttons can't be remapped for better compatibility with non-N64 games, granted built-in rumble is a plus. Yeah, it does what's advertised, but what's advertised isn't worth $50, and no defense (much less insults to complainers) by hardcore fans is going to change my mind.

I bought four of these games when I found out. I'll probably buy a couple more today.

I think I'll pass on downloadable games this size on the Switch until the Switch can play games from an external hard drive if that ever happens.

With my luck, they'll stop doing NAMCO games before getting to the ones I really want.

I have Metroid Other M and I don't think it's a terrible game, but aside from the script, I felt the choices for control were less than ideal. I'd have preferred the option of analog control stick movement and being able to use missiles without having to be little more than a sitting duck with a limited view.

So... No option for a monthly subscription?

I'm still waiting for more information about the control stick and the controller's versatility of compatibility before I even consider a purchase. For $50, it has to be compatible with more than just the Switch and the control stick should be at least GameCube-level quality.

This gives me false hope for Switch ports of Golden Axe: The Duel, Dynamite Dekka (or even Die Hard Arcade if Sega can afford the license again), and Fighters Megamix, all three of which I'd probably get sick of after 20 minutes anyway.

Update: I just realized that the game is not available yet. Did you get a review copy? Also, can I remap the buttons in this?

@Sinton I have the game on Wii which I think is untranslated. I don't remember having problems understanding what I was supposed to do.

Too bad the Switch doesn't have any music players for custom tracks.

Although I'm not a fan of having to have a paid subscription to play a game I paid for (in this case, an internet subscription), I could probably warm up to cloud gaming if not for network instability, input lag, and the high probability that at some point I'll never have access to the game again.

My guess is that the price increase will be high enough to justify piracy of the old games. I'm not saying it will make piracy legal, but Nintendo's greed and inability to listen to its fans has pretty much lost all my sympathy.

@sirmrguitardude I think that's still iffy at best even if they're somehow running the game off an actual cartridge, and that would probably violate the patent of the Switch itself.

@KingMike I'm not even gonna try to sort the Fire Emblem series out right now. FE Warriors and a bit of FE Heroes are about as much attention as I giving the series. That might change if Camilla gets her own game, which is never gonna happen so I don't even know why I brought it up.

I know Metroid Dream just came out and Metroid Prime 4 is allegedly on the way, but it feels like Nintendo is ignoring Samus again. Even WarioWare and Ring Fit got themes, but not Metroid?!

@Aerona We'll all have arthritis by the time Metroid 6* comes out anyway.

*Metroid 11 if you count the 4 Metroid Prime games and Other M. 12 if you count even Metroid Prime Pinball. 13 or 14 if you count Zero Mission and Samus Returns on top of those even though they're remakes of Metroid 1 and Return of Samus respectively.

I don't do animal skin so that's a hard pass for me.

@PickledKong I personally find his look and personality annoying. It's so "squeaky clean" or something. He just rubs me the wrong way. There are also several characters I'd much rather have than him in this game, like Lara Croft, Dante, Tifa, Aerith, Krystal, Twintelle, Chun-Li, or Camilla.

How hard is it?

@KingMike Hopefully they can get the rest of the games from the Namco Museum set. I waited too long to buy all of them from the PlayStation Network Store and I want that Valkyrie game. I also want Ms. Pac-Man, preferably with optional super speed like I've seen on pretty much every single arcade version in the last decade. I know there are legal issues, but if they can get it on PS4 and Xbox One, how hard can it be to get it on Switch?

I can think of worse ways to waste your time than running your gaming system nonstop for months on end, but not many.

I thought this was already on Switch. Maybe I'm just confusing it with the PS4 version.

I don't really care about the Silent Hill or Metal Gear series, but it would be nice to play some new Castlevania games. If they reboot the series again, I hope Sonia Belmont returns.

That's unfortunate. It seems like it would have been better as a Metroidvania sides-scroller. Why does the whole damn area have to reload when you die anyway?! That's been a problem since at least Jade Empire. One would think developers have found a way to fix that by now.

I hope it retains all the cheats. Playing as Candy Sux with Ray Leota's voice was hilarious.

If that N64 controller doesn't have a superior control stick to the original, I won't even think about getting it.

I was more excited for the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games before I saw the part about a more expensive membership. I think I pay about $4 for a single-user membership so if it's just double that, it won't be an issue for me. For more than $8 though, I'd have to think it over. I wish buying each individual game was an option, but like in-app button mapping, that would be too convenient. 😠
