Not my choice, heck, not even played Kingdom Hearts, but happy that the wait is finally over, and we can put this speculating behind us. Happy for everyone who wanted Sora.

That's amazing! I wanted Captain toad, but growing up KH was my wife's favorite game so I'm sure she'll be excited. Haven't finished the video yet, but I am definitely excited to see his final smash.

Doom Slayer was a costume with the lame pistol yeah because when I think of Doom Slayer I think of that hunk of junk, it’s not even in Eternal which is what they based the Slayer costume off of.

Sora was my least-wanted character. But oh well...still happy for the fans! Smash Bros has created the reality of Sans vs Sora...and DOOM SLAYER.

Ugh. I hate everything about this character's design, and I have no interest in the Kingdom Hearts games. Who knows, maybe the internet isn't lying for once and there's actually something interesting about him or his games, but I'll still be forever disappointed that the DLC characters I paid good money for included so few first-party Nintendo characters.

@Cheez I was hoping for Captain Toad too. As this was the final character in a huge roster I thought it was going to be a left field Nintendo pick like Piranha Plant was for the first dlc.

I was convinced it was going to be Master Chief. The timing is perfect with the new game coming out and it would be a good marketing move by Microsoft and a good sum of cash for Nintendo.

They hyped this up as something everybody needs to watch and surprise it’s both a utterly predictable choice and another one almost entirely associated with Playstation.

This is the one fighter other then tetris I really wanted, Its complete, I want nothing else from this game, In my opinion the best fighter to end on, the best trailer, Love you sak.

And there you have it, not my choice but I’m actually glad the whole who the next character will be is over. End of an era.

@SalvorHardin I wanted Doom Guy, but the Mii costume is fine with me. It would have been pretty difficult to make him kid friendly without losing his character, and the Mii costume reminds me of the little Doom Guy figures you find hidden in the 2016 game

If Sora was in the works then why did they use a slot for Sephiroth? That's what? Four square enix characters.

I can understand the selection, and there was never any way SSBU would ever be able to include every fighter everyone wanted to see. But honestly I think the final slot would've been better served by Master Chief from Halo, for two main reasons: 1) where Sora is essentially yet another sword fighter, Master Chief utilizes the complete selection of attack types (he also melees and uses the Energy Sword and Gravity Hammer, though he favors ranged), and 2) it would've been the perfect time for a cross-promotion with Halo Infinite. In short, lots of extra $$$ for both Nintendo and Microsoft this Christmas season probaby just went by the boards.

As others have mentioned, it's also not surprising that it turned out to be a character from the Japanese side of the industry, and yet another from SquareEnix. It probably was easier for Sakurai to coordinate with fellow Japanese publishers, and maybe even more importantly, from their perspective Japan is their home market, after all.

But it is what it is, Not a terrible choice by any means, just not the best IMHO. If only there was just one. more. slot....

So we have a kingdom hearts character but no actual kingdom hearts games. A Tekken character and no actual Tekken games... Yeah this really great😞

I have no horse in the race as I stopped playing Smash a while back, but to me it’s another sword fighter with all the Disney connection scrubbed out.

But then I’m of the opinion the next Smash should change mechanics (and make it easier to see your character) and cut the roster dramatically and improve some of the core characters moves.

The mad lads did it. They somehow got Disney to give them the keys to Kingdom Hearts.

Uh, no. This is an incredible choice, and probably very difficult to pull off.

Great add. The love and requests for Sora are very warranted.

So the best thing to come out of today's announcement is that it's the LAST Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC announcement. No more Directs (seldom as we get them) with a quarter of their time taken up by the latest one.

So the obvious question is what's going to fill the void. Hopefully Mario Kart 9 is coming next year, because don't look now, but the Switch is getting longer in the tooth by this point, especially now that Sony and especially Microsoft are starting to get their acts together with the PS5/XBox Series X/S. Mario Party will be a nice multiplayer game for this winter, but unless Nintendo has DLC planned for it (and they've never done so for a MP title so far), they're going to need something BIG for that multiplayer slot in the near future.

@Miyamotosan actually there's more Kingdom Hearts games on Nintendo than in PlayStation not including rereleases. Just not any on the Nintendo Switch and no I don't count the garbage rhythm games.

I like how Sakurai introduced Sora in the game without adding in any Disney cameos/contents to the game, not even Sora's own party members Goofy and Donald made it in whether as Mii costumes, spirits, assist trophies, or just cameos in general. This protect Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from any future Disney licensing conflicts on the game. The fact that it tie in well with the first character reveal trailer back in 2017-2018 and his company name is interesting as well. Still I'm surprise Sakurai didn't include Roxas as an echo fighter just for the fun of it since he's basically just Sora's Nobody in Kingdom Hearts.

I really do not like kingdom hearts, but I'm excited for all those KH fans out there who kept the faith. All my dream characters made it in ages ago, so i'm def not salty about any of these reveals. in fact i think these fighter packs have been incredibly strong. good run. I'm gonna enjoy smash while it's here, because it could be a decade(or never!) before we get another one

Awesome, there were a handful of characters that I would have been happy with (Crash Bandicoot, Waluigi, Spyro, Phoenix Wright etc.) but very happy that they have gone with Sora. Great choice!

The amount of money they had to pay just to have the Mickey Ears in there could have been spent on a whole third fighter pass worth of more relevant characters. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely disgusted.

This isn't a 'hoes mad' situation, its a horrible waste of money for a franchise that hasn't even sold one fourth the amount of something like Just Dance.

I never once thought sora was going to be added because it just didn't seem possible lmao. This is pretty fitting for the final DLC IMO. I've gotta get around to playing the kingdom hearts games at some point.

@Caryslan Sakurai has sworn that the reason Goku couldn't be in smash is because it is reserved for gaming characters only. If he throws in Goofy or Donald, the blatant hypocrisy will blow up the internet.

As good as the man is he isn't above lying (Ridley is too big and scale matters even though Pikachu is over half the height of Charizard, ect), but if he lies about this it will piss off way too many people.

I wonder too. I think they should change the basic gameplay somehow for the possible next game to make it interesting even with smaller roster. Hopefully, they also change the director. I think Sakurai has earned his rest from the series.

@Miyamotosan DS and 3DS has games which at the time we’re exclusive to those systems. Sora definitely has a history with Nintendo, this isn’t another Joker situation!

We are gonna have to practice copyright law to see how Sakurai was able to bring the likes of characters, third party characters and Sora in Smash.

Yeah OK, a pretty understandable addition that will probably make a lot of fans happy. I'm not a big fan of Smash although I've enjoyed a lot of aspects of Ultimate and do like the celebration aspect. Personally would have preferred a really left-field choice to finish up. Like the level one boss from R-Type or something like that. But maybe that's just me.

Glad I didn't waste my money on the second pass. Overall very disappointed and the selection with not a single character I wanted/requested. I also despise the Kingdom Hearts franchise and the Walt Disney Corporation so......still not buying it.

The only thing I don't like about this choice is the fact that Disney's connected, but even then it seems minimal. I don't want to think about the royalties they wanted just for having Mickey's emblem on Sora's Keyblade. The fact that they cut Goofy and Donald out of the Station of Awakening kind of confirms that, lol

I enjoy Kingdom Hearts, and barring the silly writing, I think it's worthy of joining Smash. Sora being the most requested fighter makes sense, and Kingdom Hearts was always pretty popular. Plus, he looks fun, so I'm looking forward to him.

Not mad with Sora but I really thought a Dark Souls rep was coming when the single dwindling flame was on screen.

I'm a little disappointed. Not because Sora is the last fighter, but because they didn't do a little extra for the final big update. Like being able to rearrange the character select screen however you want, or something like that.

Honestly I didn't really have any character I wanted after we got Pyra/Mythra. I was content with pretty much anyone but while watching the presentation I shed a tear for Sora, not sure if it was happiness or sadness that the roster is done but either way I'm glad for all those who wanted Sora and maybe even deep down I'm happy he made it as well.

I love it! The presentation had me giddy since I saw the Mickey shape attached to the keyblade. Easily the most hype any of the DLC fighters has given me. Only thing I didn't love is that I have to rebuy that music game to get that one track. (Got all the Kingdom Hearts games on PS4)

Out of all the DLC I've only really loved Piranha Plant and Hero but I've enjoyed playing them all and I'm not upset about the money I spent. They did great work. I hope the deluxe version on the Super Switch has a few more additions, it really needs Spyro, Crash, Rayman and Eggman to feel like truly everyone is here.

Sora may have been the perfect pick as Smash Ultimate's final DLC. He has consistently ranked as one of the most-wanted characters for almost 2 decades now, and there's value in being able to collaborate with Disney to any degree. Sakurai's company also being named Sora is a funny quirk to come out of this, too. This is a clear win for Nintendo, Smash, and the fans. Sakurai really came through.

Those complaining lack perspective. Anyone who has been on Smashboards in the last 20 years knows how much the Smash community wanted Sora. This is Sakurai's farewell gift to Smash's biggest fans, and any insinuation that this is a failure is hilariously ignorant.

Well, I guess he chose Sora for last because it's also his company's name and to match the announcement of the games. Nice for the fans, as he has been speculated to be in the roster for years.

What's next for Smash Bros? Of course, Nintendo will want it in the next system in the future. Will Sakurai make a new one or will Ultimate be ported with some adjustments?

I don't recall saying that people can't express their precious feelings. However, that doesn't mean that I can't express my absolute contempt for gamers who whine whenever they don't 100% get what they wanted. Toddlers do that, not fully-developed adults. If these people had a lick of common sense, they would have held off on spending money on the fighter's pass until either A). the entire roster had been revealed, or B). a fighter was announced that would justify the purchase.

There are 30+ million Smash Bros. players, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a quarter of them expected to be catered to. "Where do I get off?" Oh, I'm sorry that I expect (wish?) gamers to act like adults and not entitled brats. They spent money? Yeah, and so did the people who are excited, or those who are actually saying "good for those who are excited."

...the sad thing is that I believe that Sora was better off at PlayStation All Stars. ...then again, I wanted Rouen in PlayStation All Stars, too.

I was hoping it would have been Sakurai, Iwata or Miyamoto, or someone whose inclusion might have been more significant or diverse in terms of humanoid skin tone, but I guess I was expecting too much from Smash.

But, then, I wanted them to go full Chaos Mode and put in Mike Jones from StarTropics, confusing the hecc out of the Japanese fanbase.

Setting aside issues with present-day Disney as well as the fact this character's release is being used as a shameless marketing tool for several different games (Cloud gaming streaming service announcement and Smash DLC bonus for save data from a game that has zero ties to Smash or Nintendo, really?).

Will the addition of yet another long-ranged, weapon-protected, counter-protected character, actually benefit the roster in terms of the game being fun for anyone not playing as Sora? Who then also, by design, appears to have more broken aerial capabilities than Smash 4 Bayonetta?

As a side note for anyone who does not understand why the constant inclusion of sword and sword-like characters is so disliked by so many players. What makes weapon-armed characters particularly annoying to deal with in Smash is the weapons have no hitbox to damage the characters in question. In short, it's an infinite use zoning/meat-shield tool. At best, you can interrupt the attack. Everybody loves playing against campers, right?

Also, the main significance of characters with ridiculous aerial not working well in terms of Smash mechanics, is both getting combo'd off the top of the stage at very low damage percentages (possibly from one combo starting at 0%), and being unable to knock the characters off a ledge, is pretty annoying.

On a personal note, I find it super weird that they didn't choose literally ANY first-party Nintendo character as the sending off.

I'm actually kinda stoked that Sora made it in. Mind you I don't pay any attention to rumors or leaks. So it was surprising to me. That being said the music is mostly the reason I enjoyed the KH series. Now what I really want is a full physical release with EVERYTHING!
I like when Disney is involved with anything gaming, the community is up in arms. But they REALLY LOVE their marvel movies.

Even though he was one of my top picks, it feels so surreal that he's in!

This is like Banjo all over again where it just didnt feel like they could overcome the legal hurdles, but here they are!

@oconnoclast Ah the lame and unfounded entitled argument. It's not entitled its being a consumer/customer and showing dissatisfaction with a product given to you. I understand not every character in the world I wanted is going to make it, that is why I made a list (examples Ryu Hayabusa, Crash, Bonk, Leon and so on) however the factor not a single 1 out of the 5 characters in the DLC is a extreme meh (with Sora/Disney crap being the turd cherry on top). It's like going to your favorite steakhouse and you ask for a steak with the restaurant instead of giving you wanted you get fish or chicken with losers saying "You should be thankful you got anything at all". As much as people have the right to get excited, people have the right NOT to be happy or except what is given. Sure be reasonable and not obsessive (don't harass anybody) but you have to right show dissatisfaction especially with corporations.

Gameplay as expected looks like the typical Smash anime sword character archetype that people complained for years about. Even has the down B counter.

Stage is nice though. Music though is far less to be desired with 9 non arranged tracks and needing the 10th from buying another game. At least it’s not Cloud release bad.

It's a good final choice.

@Gundam_Warrior the stake house argument makes no sense and shows your sense of entitlement. You did not “order” characters on the roster, that’s why you are not getting the ones you like. What you are getting is something that the majority of people voted to have. But i can see how that concept is very difficult to grasp for certain types of people.

Loving all the salt. I'll add my own: the lack of a physical release for the KH collection is a real kick in the nutsack.

Really enjoyed the reveal trailer. The way he floated out of the keyhole portal was really magical. His base moves are a little underwhelming, but he seems a fun character to have in the game, and the fact he topped the players' vote makes it absolutely appropriate.

Wouldn't have been my pick, but I'm absolutely getting that second fighters pass.

@MarkyVigoroth The reason why there won't be another PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is because Sony doesn't had memorable mascots and only rely on mostly third party characters which Sony doesn't want to waste too many money on. This is why the roster for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is lackluster and why beloved mascots like Crash, Spyro, Klonoa, Lara Croft, Duke Nukem, Cloud Strife, Ryu Hayabusa, Croc, Jin Kazama, Mitsurugi, Ezio, Earthworm Jim, Viewtiful Joe, Sol Badguy, Maximo, Brave Fencer Musashi, Aya Brea, and Rayman were not included in the game as each one would cost Sony an arm and a leg. Remember as rich a company as Sony is, only the gaming division pay for the inclusions, the other divisions at Sony want nothing to do with the game and would not help kickstart the game and its potential sequels.

But it would be nice if some people don't gaslight others for not liking/getting excited for something they don't like either as I keep seeing happen most of the time. I'm not sure, but I think it happens as frequently as people who express how they don't like so-and-so and they get mocked for it. That definitely doesn't make things better, does it?

And yes, we all know Sakurai and his team worked very hard and he needs to absolutely get all the praise and time off he deserves. However, that's where it ends. After that, anyone, as a mature individual, are free to express whether they like or dislike the thing they were sort-of promised and some can fairly constructively criticize. Responses will vary from all different types of people. Many have different expectations more so than others. But that's how it goes and I hope more people can be respectful in that regard if some things don't turn out even.

Oh, yes they did! They mentioned it in the presentation that they had a survey during the Wii U days that unveiled Sora as the most wanted character. Even NintendoLife's poll from yesterday unveiled the exact same thing.

Meh, not enthused for this at all and won’t be buying it, but oh well. Still been cool to see so many different characters added.

I think I have seen this character on the boxes for all those games I have no interest in playing. Someone will enjoy this, not me, but I wasn't buying the dlc anyway. I have the characters that I recognize in the main game. No loss to me.

Agreed, but there is a large overlap of weapon-wielding characters in the roster that also have long-ranged projectiles (Link, Young Link, Byleth, Simon, Richter, Pyra, Cloud, Robin, Pit, Dark Pit, Mii Swordfighter, and now Sora, off the top of my head).

I'm not even that annoyed with Sora, because I do agree that I've seen his name requested for a long time, I'll concede that this one makes sense, but my god, the amount of anime characters that all have the same hair cuts, faces and weapons in this game is a bit much. You have enough of them to do a spin-off fighting series. Nintendo alone has such a rich history that they could have drawn from over many of the others.

Glad I never bought the second pass. Not a single character I would pay for. What a waste.

despite KH not being able to connect to most nintendo fans, the team did a great job laying out popular picks from all kinds of categories. wild picks like joker, steve and sora that no one would take seriously. personal picks like ridley, king k rool, and banjo for nintendo fans. traditional fighters like terry and kazuya

Not my first pick but better Sora over "Master Chief" or "Doom Guy". Sora admittedly does fit the roster better and its fair to say he's earned his place.

I don't play Smash anymore anyway - so this isn't all that hype for me. Im getting swept up in the general buzz around twitter etc but for me this isn't something to scream about. Hopefully if there's a next Smash game, gameplay goes back to what Wii U and 3DS enjoyed and I'll be able to play all the time like I used to.

So Sakurai-san said about the survey, and many people in Japan do adore Disney and the KH series, but even so I'd say sending the final invite to a Square-Enix-Disney character rather than someone first-party is indeed a calculated business move.

Please consider I'm using characters like ROB, Piranha Plant, and Duck Hunt Dog for comparison, which were fun tributes to Nintendo history.

@Teksetter I mean the vast majority of the fighters pass has been third party. I would have rather saw much more focus on first party, but it's no surprise that they went out with a third party. The fact of the matter is that Sora was highly requested and also thematically fits perfectly alongside Nintendo characters.

Better we go out with Sora than some random third party bulky fighting dude that has little history with Nintendo at all. The fighter's pass unfortunately had characters like that.

I would have expected the retro character to be in the base game, not the final character from the DLC.

That was bottom of my list simply because Disney is involved. I wouldn't expect them to allow anything they have their grubby fingers in to join Smash.

@geox30 I domt appreciate the censorship on this site (heaven forbid anybody have a bad thing to say about Disney I guess) so I will just bow out by reminding you and everyone else that was a WIIU survey. Since then we have gotten Joker, DQXI Luminary, Byleth, Chrom, Roy, Child Link, Corrin, Cloud, and who knows how many other generic anime swordfighters that a normie wouldn't know from any other. I think it's safe to say most current SSB fans wouldn't have Sora in a top 10, let alone theie top pick.

Sora is beyond redundant in that regard, and historically Kingdom Hearts isn't even remotely as important as many other franchises aside from the "muh Dis-knay" aspect of it.

Argue all you want but it's a crappy decision that just reeks of jumping on the Disney bandwagon and nothing more. Like I said before..... Doomguy, classic Gannon (Ganondorf STILL doesn't have representation true to himself..... A bulky Captain Falcon clone that doesn't use any of his in game moves doesn't count), Kraid, Waluigi, even Crash/Spyro/Master Chief would have been more fitting. At this point SSBU feels more like an anime brawler than a videogame celebration, especially for people who aren't fans of JRPGs.

I mean I love Fire Emblem maybe more than anyone else here and even I have had enough.

I strongly suspect Soras inclusion is either a paid adveet by Disney or Nintendo jumping on the Disney bandwagon. Either way it kinda sucks, SSBU deserves better. When it comes time to port this game and they have to reskin all the 3rd party licensed characters it's gonna be a nightmare trying to repurpose these overabundant anime-esque characters.

I do hope the DLC packs go on sale though. Between amiibo and all the fighters that is some sims4 level price tag.

Felt kinda sad that SMT didn't had any representation (jack bros joining smash bros) excluding joker from persona, but I understand the reason of bringing KH to Nintendo. It was overall a good move (too bad the games will be cloud version)

Tl;Dr That was a WiiU survey, we have had literally over half a dozen anime swordsmen added since then. It's very safe to say that opinions changed since then and very few people wanted another generic anime swordsman. The overwhelming consensus is the game has too many of them already.

I like it save the most requested character for the biggest surprise thats great. You couldn’t deny though that if they changed up the dlc list a bit (think crash bandicoot, spyro or master chief over blyeth or pyra and mythra) sora would have had a better reception. Meh, this was overhyped. When they promote the hell out of the final Smash character like this you kind of expect it to be someone special that celebrates the game/series. Sora is great, but doesn't quite live up to those expectations.

@DrDaisy It's not a terrible choice if you're a fan of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura, and Squaresoft. Kingdom Hearts was the final game made by Squaresoft before they merge with Enix hence why Sora was the final DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on a merging console. Kingdom Hearts itself is a merging game series sharing assets between Final Fantasy and Disney. It's not a terrible choice, it's a wise choice as evidence by the ballot and request.

Yes, Sora is a popular character, what I'm saying is that Sora doesn't have a "grand finale" sort of feel to him, he just feels like a regular old DLC character we could've gotten at any point before now. What I'm saying was that with them making a big deal out of the last character, they raised the expectation that it would be someone more special and it wasn't, so Nintendo and Sakurai flat out overhyped this announcement.

Sora fills that (getting anywhere close to disney without selling your soul is hard), just not for those hoping it was somebody else obv. Only complaint I have (i never touched KH btw and never bought smash DLC period), is his moveset looks really bland, so something more original like a zoner doomguy or stance changer (Ratchet and Clank?) would've been more interesting. He still doesn't make me want to play smash with its terrible netcode.

Then this character specifically just looks like random anime character #957488, giant eyes, could be placed into nearly any anime without anyone thinking anything of it, a dull uninspired character design with not an ounce of an interesting personality, just like the rest of the Disney crew. Glad I didn't buy the 2nd DLC pack, but at least I can save my money for something better (literally anything).

This is, honestly, unreal. I've been playing Smash Bros. since it released in 1999. I got emotional seeing Masahiro Sakurai thank his fans and to see the Smash Bros. team show so much love and respect for their fans. Nintendo has created, in my humble opinion, the greatest fighting game in existence, and I'm so grateful for their incredible work.

Mega Man, Pac-Man, Terry Bogard, Cloud, Sephiroth, Sonic, Banjo, Simon/Richter Belmont, Solid Snake, Ken, Ryu and now Sora.

This game has basically became what me and all my friends wanted it to be when the original came out in 1999. It's absolutely insane the mountains Nintendo and Sakurai had to move to make this happen.

Nothing will ever top this roster, no future Smash games will ever be able to live up to it.

@ZaleraExdeath A. there are no good kingdom hearts games on switch specifically. B. There are no Tekken games on switch and Tekken hybrid on 3ds was crap.

@HollowSpectre Tekken was also on the Gameboy Advance.

They went for a series with some of the best video game soundtracks of all time. The choice seemed so obvious when I saw the keyblade, I can't argue with their final choice. Also it reminded me that I still have to buy melody of memory.

@HollowSpectre I liked all of those KH games apart from Chain of Memories. Why would any of these or Tekken need to be on Switch when Banjo still got a DLC spot regardless of how long its been since he was on nintendo. Tekken on 3DS was bad but the Wii U version was good.

Complete lack of respect for the Kingdom Hearts series shown in this video.

If they cared at all about the series, the video would have been 3 and a half hours long and at the end of it we wouldn't have a freaking clue who the next fighter is and would probably be doubting is Smash Brothers is even a game or if we just remember that wrong.

Then we would have got 1/2 of his move set now, another 1/5th in a few months, then 4/57th in a year, then they would have ret-conned that move set and given us 2/3rds of a new one with some insane time plot to get the last 1/3rd and the whole time DONALD WOULD NOT SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Ehh. Still not paying for a few DLC characters unless they get discounted to a buck (haha Nintendo do good sales) Soo nothing much changes for me.

I didn't even want Sora for Smash, and yet... I just felt really happy watching the trailer and presentation. It just feels right that Sora's the final character, you know?

You’re right, almost all the preceding fighters pass 2 characters were 3rd party “ambassador” picks, which is precisely why I hoped (but didn’t really expect) we’d get a nice soul-food 1st party Nintendo pick for the last slot.
I can’t argue with your logic that the timing was all wrong for such a retro pick today. It was just wishful thinking on my part.

Maybe Waluigi will get his shot in a future game when the stakes aren’t as high.

@BanjoPickles I think we both know it means much more to the gaming community for a character to be a part of the Super Smash Bros. roster than just “Fighter #94”. The game transformed into a “who’s who” of gaming history. No other game has a collection of licenses and IPs interacting with one another like this one.

This is incredible, I thought someone said this was impossible because Disney Japan wouldn't allow it, but then this happened. It's like a miracle, and left me speechless

Why is everybody so toxic in this thread? Like my god you guys can go from wanting sora, to then when he gets revealed you then say “waste of slot glad I didn’t buy the fighter pass” like make up your mind. I personally didn’t think sora was ever getting in, which is why he was at the bottom of my list for characters, but after the reveal trailer and move set, I can say he might be my main haha. The music of when he was flying just hit so different knowing this might be the final time we ever get and update from Sakurai, which brought tears to my eyes, that a game series I love might be coming to an end. With the dlc finally coming to an end I can finally start the journey of playing the game of every dlc character, because I personally didn’t know a lot of them. Overall, this was a big enough reveal to end smash off with, that left tears in my eyes.

Alucard as an add on ?!?! Man thatd be cool , or Celeste from Celeste! I get Sora and know that it’ll get love , but I suppose feels a little safe, but for those who love the char God bless and hope you enjoy it

@Slinkoy1 I don’t like Sora, but I’m so happy for your reaction and others as I think that’s what his goal was Keep that happiness and don’t let others ruin it as we all have special games and chars in our hearts.

I’m actually surprised I’m not surprised. I just knew Sora had to be in this game as he was at the top of the polls. I just thought we would have had him way before now. I dislike that they ended with sora as the wrap up character for this super smash as it has blown away every roster in any fighting game ever. It’s too hard to really hit home with a perfect character to wrap up this games lineup but I just had hoped it’d be something from Nintendo rather than a guest.

Anyway, sora deserves his spot but he’s not one I’m personally excited for. I like the cartoonish mascot characters for this. Not enough duck hunt/banjo characters I think. Crash would’ve been a nice addition.

i've gone back to this trailer a few times today, and i can't help but get this massive smile on my face every time i do, even looking at the splash screen for him makes me happy. it just feels so perfect, and the trailer as a whole has this amazing sense of finality to it. an excellent send off to an outstanding game thats probably never gonna be matched

I'm not mad into Sora myself personally or KH but the winner of the Smash Ballot joining as the last character is a very nice touch. Presumably they couldn't work it out back then but kept at it.

Sora is worthy (though yet ANOTHER sword-fighter trololol. They must be the easiest to make). And while I probably never buy the dlc packs (I am a single-player, so I won't get much usage out of it) the trailer got me a bit melancholic with the fading flames (it started with the flames). Its truly over now. Sakurai can take a nice break (at least I hope so)...untill its time for the next one? On Switch 2 or whatever it will be called?

Smash Brothers Ultimate is still archived on my Switch, and this fighter isn't going to get me to redownload Smash Ultimate... I have zero interest in Sora as a character, nor Kingdom Hearts as a whole. Both are super uninteresting to me.

I am happy for those that are super excited though, but for me... Smash is still dead to me. Once Sora was revealed, I was happy that the dishwasher repairman had arrived a few moments after Sora was revealed, because I have 0 interest in this character.

@MrGawain KeyBlade, core blunt weapon like that isn't sharp at all, uses magic. Yet inspite such an obvious difference, people actually confuse it for a sword, I'll never understand. But fine, a melee weapon all the same, I'll understand.

The reveal definitely had the feel of “this is the final character.” I thought it was very well done. I was always excited to see which new characters were being added to Smash over the years. I’m going to miss the hype of new character reveals, but Smash will still be one of my favorite games and I’ll continue to enjoy it. A big thank you to Sakurai and everyone who has been working on Super Smash Bros.

@PickledKong I personally find his look and personality annoying. It's so "squeaky clean" or something. He just rubs me the wrong way. There are also several characters I'd much rather have than him in this game, like Lara Croft, Dante, Tifa, Aerith, Krystal, Twintelle, Chun-Li, or Camilla.

@PickledKong look you are free to have your opinion, and I am free to have mine. I just find Animal Crossing to be way more relaxing and fun. I never found competitive games to be all that amusing/entertaining tbh, and the Sora announcement was the final nail in the coffin for me in regards to me ever playing Smash ever again.

And also ACNH to me isn't incomplete. I don't like to look at games that way. I do enjoy ACNH way more than I enjoyed ACNL or any previous Animal Crossing game, but that is just me. And also my island isn't all that well decorated or terraformed. I just enjoy the game as a game that I can play to turn my mind off, and just relax.
