A crazy fantasy is finally coming true: we're getting Grand Theft Auto on the Nintendo Switch. It's been over ten years since we last had a GTA on Nintendo consoles, which was Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the DS, and since then the car-stealing, pedestrian-punching simulator has largely been confined to PlayStations and Xboxes.
But as of today, Nintendo is back in the game, as Rockstar announced that they're bringing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition to the Nintendo Switch, as well as other "current generation platforms" including the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S and X, as well as an iOS and Android release in 2022.
The Trilogy will include GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, and will feature improved graphics and modern gameplay enhancements while keeping the "classic look and feel" of the original games.
This isn't entirely new news — we saw a leak earlier this year that seemed to imply that we'd be seeing a remastered trilogy on Switch — but still, it's nice to have it confirmed.
It seems like the Trilogy is going to be the only way to play these games soon, as Rockstar states on their news post:
"To prepare for launch, we will begin removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week."
This is all to celebrate the 20th anniversary of GTA 3, and other events will also be happening as part of the party: GTA Online will have special clothing, liveries, and surprises to discover, as well as "unusual activity" in San Andreas.
The GTA Trilogy will release later this year. We'll update you when we have a more exact release date!

Yes! Lets a go! Finally for Switch!!
Please tell me it isn't a port of the mobile versions.
Throw in GTA 1 and it's a day one buy
HELL YES!!! Just got Metroid Dread, now getting this, Disco Elysium and SMT V. Now I just need more time and money.
Yay 😀 totally up for this
I'm not a big GTA fan but I can still have fun with them. As long as the Switch ports run well, I'll buy this for sure.
I imagine the Switch version will be closer to the Android /iOS version.
Good news! This will be great on Switch, the first GTA we get since Chinatown Wars lol.
Ah *****, here we go again.
Did they confirm physical or downloadable versions though?
Or will it be playable only via the cloud?
@nukatha I doubt it.
Finally! Now give me a physical release with all 3 games on cartridge please. I'll take a copy for PS5 and Switch day 1.
I'm down but wondering if this will have all three on the cart or download codes
Yes, I have not played any of these since they originally came out, cant wait to 100 percent them all again, although I remember vice city causing a great deal of rage to 100 percent back in the day. The graphical style of these games should look great on my OLED aswell.
Hopefully if enough people buy this GTA V will come to Switch.
Are these games any good? I've never heard of them before.
This is cool! Have actually only played San Andreas. Hope they keep the bugs. Like the bug that lets you launch cars with the tractor.
I'll buy it twice.
I hope SOMEBODY puts these on a cart. I'd buy all three physically if I had to.
Physical with all 3 on the cart and this will be a day one purchase!
Hopefully they aren't cloud versions, as we know from Kingdom Hearts 1&2 the Switch can't handle PS2 games /s
Physical release with all games on one cart and I'll buy it day one!
I hope they're touch-screen-only mobile versions.👌🙏🤪
Or cloud. Please be cloud only!
reverse psychology
@GrailUK I’ve heard they are ok and have a bit of a niche following. Might try them out myself, you know to support the poor developer…
Excellent. All over this. Classic games.
Really hoping that they don't announce in a few days that it's streaming.
@GrailUK "never heard of them before" - you rascal.😉
Please don't be cloud versions! After Kingdom Hearts I am very sceptical.
@Friendly
Hahahahaha, a cloud only release would be histerical. But I doubt it, this most likely will be a bona fide release.
But of course we still have goalposts to achieve for the "perfect" third party release: no Switch tax, having a physical release, all three game on the cart, no additional big
downloads, no legacy editions, no microtransactions and of course, framerate parity.
Then we the Nintendo faithful might think about getting the game XP.
Pretty damn awesome. While I have beaten all three (almost so in the case of III, but I only had the final mission left) and paid for them on PC, I will strongly consider a double-dip and maybe even a casual replay. Granted, for all my enjoyment of GTA games, I always have mixed feelings about replaying any - each has its share of missions I'd rather NOT have to come back to (some memetic, some I personally sucked at) - but who knows, maybe the promised enhancements could amount to a sort of NG+ experience that would make them less of a playthrough roadblock.
To the commenters scared of potential cloudy weather here - keep in mind that Rockstar has had LA Noire ported to Switch before, an open-worlder with a bigger map than that of GTA 5. And the latter is probably what they need all their available servers for anyway.😆
@Yomerodes thank goodness all my remnant traces of "Nintendo faithful" status likely went out the window the moment I became a simultaneous owner of TWO Vitas.😄
That’s nice , but could you share some metroid guides 😜
Yes! So glad this turned out to be real. Definitely gonna pick this one up.
@OorWullie switch can handle 3 PS2 games...hopefully
I have loved every single console GTA game, and the PS2 games especially hold good memories as it was a time where I finally had the money to buy games at launch, and still had the time to play a lot of them. However, I find these are never as fun to go back to as I imagine. I've tried several of the ports that have come out in the years since and never stick with any of them for long. Of course I'll still buy this! Part of the problem I know.
And with that, the world was at peace.
@victordamazio legends still has it til this day CJ keeps getting money doing just that, out of nowhere.
I’m sold! Because it’s not a stupid cloud version (ya, I’m sorry I brought that nonsense/noise into here) I’m definitely buying! Can’t wait to hear Ray Liotta again!
Day 1. On Switch. Fight me. 😎😄
I can only imagine the graphical improvements it will bring to current gen.
@victordamazio Plot Twist it ain't god or satan, but instead Buddha~ x3
@OorWullie that would piss alot of people off including me. All 3 of these games should run fine on the switch considering they are PS2 ports with 'enhanced graphics'. If this is the case then count me out
I replayed Vice City on Steam a couple years ago. It was great revisiting it. I can't wait to play San Andreas on Switch.
This better not be cloud. If it isn’t then it looks like I will be picking it up if it runs well
mainline Grand Theft Auto releasing on a Nintendo platform for the first time is a big deal
@Friendly well according to their website, they didn’t say cloud.
But it might be digital or physical. I am guessing digital most likely
@KBuckley27 there have been GTA games on Nintendo DS.
This ain’t the first time.
@PushMyGran1986 but KH couldn’t run on Switch and those were PS2 titles too
@nukatha I think it will be the console versions just with lower frame rate and resolution
@Yomerodes doubt all you mentioned will even happen.
This trilogy has 3 games. It will probably be a digital only title considering most of Take Two games are space taking in general.
Framerate parity, I am expecting probably 30 fps at the very least for Switch and maybe for Xbox One S and base PS4 too
@EVIL-C and if it is cloud?
Well according to rockstars website, they didn’t say anything about cloud for Switch so maybe it isn’t cloud perhaps
@anoyonmus who said they couldn't run? If the switch can run crisis remastered and the Witcher 3, pretty sure it has handle something like Kingdom hearts. SE just lazy
Pretty big news. GTA has been on Nintendo systems but not the most popular entries. I love these games, will probably double dip and get the collection for both PS5 and Switch.
Nothing stays, they pass you by
If you don't chaaange 🎶
Idc about the other systems, so glad this is coming to Switch!
@anoyonmus
Right because the Switch hasn’t run anything above PS2 ports before.
Anyway highly doubt this will be cloud like the KH disaster, but based on how Rockstar handled the LA Noire port which I believe was the last time Rockstar was involved with Nintendo it will likely be a half assed physical/digital distribution. Similar to how Bioshock/Borderlands was handled so hopefully you guys have some memory space because LA Noire was a nonsense memory sink on Switch even if you got physical
Oh how cool. As long as they're not on Cloud anyway.
No personal interest, but this is a decent snag for Nintendo systems. I would like to see IV and V since they can all run on Switch but merely for the sales draw that will be for Nintendo. More popular games means more sells, more sells means more profit (for Nintendo and shareholders) and more profit means more investment into development and hardware. Win win.
These will be a guilty pleasure to play on Switch - great stress relief!
I played Vice City quite a bit, none of GTA3, and only a smidge of San Andreas. I hope the music/radio stations remain mostly intact.
PLEASE be on a cartridge, not digital-only, and especially not cloud!
@anoyonmus They 100% can run on the switch, no issue, without a doubt could can run on the switch.
@PushMyGran1986 well yeah, it is SE.
But this is Take Two Interactive who has been good to Switch owners so I doubt this is cloud. Marvel Midnight Suns isn’t cloud too.
Take Two is going for it on Switch unless if they somehow couldn’t and they will probably come out honestly
@anoyonmus It's not cloud. Not everyone is as dumb as Square and KH.
@Snatcher ik they can run on Switch. I am wondering if Take Two would pull of a SE though.
But according to Rockstars website, it is NOT a cloud release
@EVIL-C yeah I figured it out by checking the website.
For now it isn’t cloud. Or it won’t be cloud.
If it is not cloud, then Take Two has been good. They have been gaining my trust over the years. Slowly but they are
I'm a fan of the series and love open world games on the Switch, but I don't want to play these games on a Nintendo system. It feels wrong to me. I'd rather play the grown up/messed up stuff on the PS5/ PC.
I'd buy it for Vice City alone if they finally did something about those helicopter controls.
@Yomerodes Agree with your post, except witcher III meets all those criteria though even the consistent 30 fps framerate
Edit: now that I think of it, Divinity II, Dragon Quest XI-S and the Bioshock collection also meet the criteria. Maybe the Metro Redux games too?
And digital only games such as Alien Isolation, Crysis Remastered, Ori and Cuphead too of course.
@Trikeboy
It wouldn't be that easy. If the collection sells well on Switch, they'd probably port the PSP Stories games, or Chinatown Wars.
I'm curious about the updated graphics. It'd be nice to see something that, at least, approaches GTA IV but I know that won't happen.
@Teksetter this is 3 games. I doubt there will be a physical version of it.
But then again, Take Two has SOMEHOW managed to put NBA 2K on cartridge and CDPR also SOMEHOW put Witcher 3 on a cartridge.
Also according to Rockstars website, it isn’t a cloud version either apparently.
It is going to be a full on native port
"To prepare for launch, we will begin removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week."
😒😔
Can’t wait! I love Vice City so having it on the Switch will be fantastic. I just hope they’ve managed to re-licence all the music.
Hopefully the built-in cheats work, those were fun to do 😛
@anoyonmus I think you can rest easy with GTA. Those 3 games were relatively small. These versions will surely be bigger, but I can't see them being enormous. I just hope they aren't download required. But it definitely won't be a cloud release.
@nukatha It’s not it says enhanced graphics and it basically remastered
“Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Woooaah!”
“Unbelievable!”
All three games on a cart and I couldn’t possibly buy it fast enough.
Throw in the original soundtrack with Kate Bush, Cutting Crew etc., and I’ll buy it even harder.
Mandatory download will be a hard pass though.
@Guitario I get it from a business standpoint, but I hate it when they do things like this.
@YusseiWarrior3000
exactly. It'll basically be the difference between Mario Sunshine and Sunshine HD.
If the update was significant, they'd sell them individually, at full price.
So i need to figure out how the cheat codes work on switch. The tank has to fly!
GTA trilogy = 1, 2 and London. Mmmm, yes please!
Great for people who haven’t played these. Great classics. I still have them for the ps2. The value for these games are really low.
Great stuff. Depending on price and DL size this will be a no Brainer for me.
@anoyonmus i said mainline the DS games was a spin off
I'll take 'Other ways we can avoid developing GTA 6' for 400?
I'd love to get this on physical
I don't play criminals simulator, but good for those that do.
Yes! But I’m so hopeful for a physical
Time to re download them onto my iPad before they disappear like Chinatown Wars did from the App Store.
Nice. Not too big on GTA 3 (I'll of course give it another try in this collection), but Vice City was good fun, and San Andreas is still my favorite entry in the series. Really curious to see what changes they make to modernize it.
Hopefully Rockstar remembers the original couple of GTA games at some point and brings those to modern systems as well. They're obviously extremely different from the modern games, but they're also good fun in their own way.
I trust in Rockstar, hopefully these are not cloud versions like the Square Enix Kingdom Hearts cloud garbage.
@nukatha the mobile versions were the only remasters with upgraded shaders, reflective glass/cars and textures. Also they supported the HD screens. What more would you like of the switch versions? I’m just hoping it will be priced lower 9x3=27, about 20 would be a fair pricepoint
@Specter_of-the_OLED I think these are definitely not cloud versions.
This will be an instant buy for me. I've been thinking about getting GTA V as my first game in the franchise, but this...this looks just as good as V. So I'll probably get this instead.
"modern gameplay enhancements" I hope this means the control scheme will be more in line with modern games. I have such a difficult time playing the original versions. Super stoked!
This is historical, after 20 years, mainline GTA games are finally playable on a Nintendo system, long after GameCube. Everything is coming full circle!
Oooo that’s going straight in my basket
Day one for both Switch and Xbox series X.
The main question for me is the song list. Will they all be there? There was an issue with the Steam version where some were removed. Also I hope there's no censorship of "objectionable content". After all the whole idea of the game is pretty objectionable, which should be fine for an M rated game.
@nukatha what’s wrong with the mobile versions? The graphics are remastered with better lighting and plays at 60fps. They’re perfectly fine. But ofcourse if rockstar wants to add more elements visually, it would be welcomed. But i doubt the Switch can handle it.
Removed - foreign languages
Yes, I'll need to buy these or a 3rd time now. Original on PS2, 1080p versions on PS4, now Definitive on Switch.
Chances are that GTA3 will be on cartridge but Vice and SA just redeem code for eShop
Good for gamers. Don't care for me. I got bored playing this on PS2.
Finally a main series GTA happens on Switch. Only took a couple decades, but I guess not even Rockstar could pass up this system. Damn hell is chilly today...
So what happens to the old Android version of San Andreas I already paid for?
Better not be cloud versions
Hopefully, Rockstar won't charge full price for this.
Why does having it on cart make a differnce?
If it’s for storage, the inevitable patches will likely take up just as much storage space as the game anyhow?
@SHULZ021 : why not? Why would 3 great games bundled together with improvements NOT be full price?
That’s a hell of a lot of game…
Hopefully, all in the cartridge, right, RockStar? Gave up on L.A. Noite because it wasn’t all in the cartridge. Don’t make the same mistake.
@SHULZ021 I am sure they will
Maybe with a physical version of this, I can actually play GTA and not just run around blowing things up with cheats XD.
@Specter_of-the_OLED according to Rockstars website, it is not cloud version
Couldn't care less about GTA. Happy for those this makes happy.
@Uncensored Old version will be removed from the stores is what they said. So you won't get a free update
@Drommajin : never played the switch la noir.. how was it not all on cartridge?
Did you get to a certain point then have to download rest of game or something?
@Buckster666 same buddy! As long as there is a physical for Switch. Digital on Series X though for sure. Vice City is one of those games I will always love.
I remember picking Two Towers over Vice City when it first came out. That was also epic though so it’s all good
@Clammy Only the first Patrol Case was on the cartridge. For everything else, you need to DL about 12Gb. IMO, if you buy the game on the cartridge, everything should be on it. If you need to DL part of it, better buy it on the eShop or Steam.
Never a fan of the GTA games but good news nonetheless.
I just hope they are not idiotic cloud versions...
@Uncensored probably, you’ll still be able to DL it and/or play but it’ll become unavailable to new buyers.
@OorWullie Even if you ignore the story you can just put the cheats in and try to rack up a big police chase!
@Double-L It's not 🌥.
Excited this is coming to Switch, but need to know how it will perform.
@Drommajin : I honestly didn’t know that. Yes, that sucks.
But nowadays I half expect patches the size of the game too..
Oh my...
Oh my. This will be interesting.
If this is a physical release then I am honestly likely to buy this twice! (Switching cartridges is such a turn-off when it's time to choose a game to actually play, but I gotta have this on my shelf).
Not sure about 3 and Vice City, but I replayed San Andreas on PC just 2 years ago and it's still an absolute gem. The scope and freedom is still unsurpassed; I can see myself just hanging out in the countryside doing the trucker missions for weeks on end.
Ah s****, here we go again
They should remake the top down versions too.
I want to see a video of the remastered versions! I adored these games back in the day, and Vice City still has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. The mission variety and storyline are also fantastic. Can't wait to play these again.
@PushMyGran1986 it is not cloud but I believe they are using a newer engine for this trilogy. UE4 to specific, I think
@DK-Fan they are not. According , Rockstars website
I am happy for the fans, but I will stick with the more kid friendly Lego City Undercover.
We’re gonna be worrying that every single release might be in the cloud from here on in aren’t we. 🥺
This is a really great weekend for Nintendo fans.
That's so weird to just drop the announcement like that with no trailer or anything.
I was more into Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories than the main games, but this is still cool, all the same.
@WoomyNNYes It’s only six in the morning where I live and your comment on reverse psychology is already making me laugh aloud, more than enough to wake up without coffee.
Anyone else annoyed that it took these companies 5 years and 100 million consoles sold to realize that it's worth releasing games on Switch? It's like they purposefully ignore Nintendo and then rush to dump whatever garbage they can when the console succeeds.
Of course it's going to be less appealing graphically on Switch, but I wonder what will happen with the soundtracks. I mean, real life songs use to be a license hell, and I get that, but Vice City (specially) without those masterpieces would be a bummer...
How much of the original soundtrack will make it?
@Severian Thanks. After Kingdom Hearts for the Switch was revealed to be cloud only, it's weird, I'm little cynical.😁😁
Even PS3 could handle GTA 5 so the Switch not getting it is just a kick in the teeth.
@Chamver what? Rockstar is OWNED by Take Two Interactive.
The first Rockstar game released on Switch was LA. Noire. Also Take Two Interactive has been great with their support on Switch like Borderlands collection, NBA 2K, Civilization 6, Bioshock and the upcoming Marvel Midnight Suns and ofc the GTA trilogy remaster.
But I do get your point, though. Imo, I am guessing Rockstar waited long because they are unsure whether Nintendo fans (and Nintendo in general) would want to play a violent game that has a lot of controversy since release. Now you are thinking "but isn't MK11 already on Switch" Well yes but then again it is Rockstar. I am also guessing Take Two Interactive might have pressured them because I am guessing a lot of Take Two games have sold well or decently on Switch.
Also did the Switch even sell 100 million yet? Last time I heard it was about close to 90 million?
Rockstar is releasing these ancient GTA before launching GTA 5 for Switch. If they sold GTA 5 first, no one will want these dated version.
Eh these games really don't hold up well. Might sideload them on my phone just to play 3 again though since I've played VC too many times and San Andreas characters just annoyed me.
Why is Nintendo Life the only website stating it will feature improved graphics and modern gameplay enhancements? Every other website says nothing has been confirmed yet.
@MattyHammo Rockstar on their website said it themselves
@Dpishere apparently it is not according to Rockstar's website, don't worry
For everyone who thinks this will be a cloud version, ACCORDING to Rockstar's website, IT DOES NOT MENTION anything about a cloud version for Switch. SO most likely, this is a full on native port of this game on Switch. So expect a digital only release or both physical and digital releases
@Friendly These are old games, it's cheaper to not do the cloud in this case I'm pretty sure
I just hope it is 60fps on Switch and 120 on new consoles!
@120frames-please being remastered in Unreal Engine 4, I really have doubts about its performance on Switch…
Although I would be ok with a constant 30 fps as long as it has better controls and keeps the original soundtrack (the graphics are timeless to me).
Luckily I have access to a PS5 for that 4K 120 fps goodness. This clearly will be my first double-dipping of this generation
This won't be a cloud release.
Just because Square Enix is lazy doesn't mean every other publisher will follow suit.
@120frames-please since they are using UE4, I am guessing probably at least 30 fps on Switch and perhaps even Xbox One S and base PS4 as well.
But if it is 30 fps, i hope it is constant because I will be buying this on Switch if it turns out well.
@westman98 well Take Two Interactive isn't lazy when it comes to Switch.
If there is going to be a cloud version of this (ik it won't be a cloud version but a native version), at least they have tried to port to Switch and probably offer a more reasonable explanation unlike SE. At least NBA 2K on Switch is the same as PS4 and Xbox One so we aren't completely left out in the dark.
Take Two has been good to Switch owners in the past few years. They have ported Borderlands games, NBA 2K, Civilization, and Bioshock and LA Noire games to Switch and they have the upcoming Marvel Midnight Suns and GTA trilogy remaster for Switch. Lets hope they keep this up
If storage limitations weren't an issue, I would love to see GTA V eventually come to the Switch. Hardware could easily handle it.
Finally, some legit GTA games to play on the go. I can finally drop Saints Row....jk, Saints Row is still fun to play with
The soundtrack part is the big question. None of us want a Crazy Taxi Xbox 360 minus licenced parts situation here.
@anoyonmus
Yeah, Take Two is probably the western publisher that had put the most effort into Switch. Outside of GTAV and maybe Borderlands 3, they have effectively ported all of their games on to Switch that can feasibly run on the platform. (Heck, Civilization 6 was even a Switch console exclusive for a year).
@WadeMcG I agree the music is one the reasona I love the classic gta series driving around blasting music and just relaxing. The music made it feel alive like I was back in that time Era so many memories from those games I can't wait to play them on the go at work (on break ofcourse) or in bed when I don't feel like turning my TV on lol.
@westman98 yup.
Idk why Borderlands 3 isn’t on Switch. Maybe Take Two has tried to port it but they couldn’t get it running at acceptable speeds. And I don’t think they want to put a cloud version so they probably decided not to port it to Switch
@anoyonmus Yeah, I totally want to play San Andreas on my Switch, even if it isn't running at my preferred frame rate of 120 (or 60 in the Switch's case).
@Flashlink99 Yeah, the complete soundtrack is pretty much a must. If it's just 30fps on Switch, but 120 on Playstation or Xbox, I'll probably getting it for one of the 120fps consoles. Would be cool to have it portable, but not at the cost of 1/4 the frame rate.
@120frames-please
What makes you certain Rockstar will get GTA Trilogy DE running at 120FPS?
Come on No trailer??
Hilarious seeing people excited about these old games you do all realise also half the songs will not be there from the original games due to copyright expiry which is a big part of these games success, stick with the ps2 versions and forget this crap
@westman98 I'm just hoping, wishing. For all I know it will run at 30fps on every single system it releases on.
@120frames-please
I should note that the based on what Rockstar has shown of GTAV for PS5/XBS, it appears to run at 30 FPS.
I would tone down expectations for a 120 FPS Rockstar game on consoles, even if that game is a collection of remastered PS2 titles.
@WoomyNNYes Moi?
@westman98 Yeah, I guess I'm about raising expectations. GTA V runs at 144fps at 1080p on my laptop. It would be kind of pathetic if it doesn't at least have a 120fps mode on PS5 and XSX.
I just hope they play well on Switch.
I await the reviews!
Thats pretty neat
Nice that we can all be friends. ^^
Would have preferred V, but I would take these on a physical
Eager to play some Vice city on my OLED Switch; seeing those colors pop!
Hope the improvements include some checkpointing updates. I remember a couple of missions in San Andreas that were easy to fail and then required a twenty minute trek back to the mission start point to retry them.
This is great news as Vice City is one of the very best videogames of all time. Our PS2s are now officially obsolete! (I'm bearing in mind that the Devil May Cry trilogy is on the Switch too and Dragon Quest VIII is on the 3DS.)
I'm very happy with this. I would also be extremely happy if we got Vice City Stories, Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars on Switch
Ehmmm... I hoped for GTA 1 and 2.
@OorWullie I'd imagine it'll be like the ps4 versions
@westman98 it won’t be 120 fps. On newer consoles, I expect 60 fps
@kingbk I feel you ! To much crapolla that I wanna buy . Just my Jrpgs alone are burning hole in my back log
@120frames-please
I assume that GTAV on PS5/XBS will run at 4K with all the settings cranked up to high, so 120+ FPS may not be possible anyways.
(Though once again, I should mention that the last GTAV trailer showed no visible improvements between the PS5/XBS versions vs the PS4/XBO versions outside of the lighting.)
so how much will the switch user have to downlowad? 95%? hahaha
@westman98 Ugh, I don't own a 4K or 1440p display and don't really want to get one until frame rates are really high. GTA and other remakes really should have a low resolution, lowered settings, mode that can provide excellent motion clarity. As one might assume by my name I think a locked 120fps looks better than any other possible graphics feature. If I could I would buy a console with a max resolution of 720p if it locked things at 120fps or higher. I should probably just get an old computer monitor. That would probably solve most of my blurry motion complaints about games.
Any news on motion controls?
@120frames-please I'm also quite sensitive to framerates and I have been surprised by people saying that they can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. But recently I have noticed most people have no problem with modern, low energy LED lightbulbs either, whereas I always get slightly annoyed by their high frequency flickering that many others don't even notice. Is it the same for you?
Unbelievable!! Could be the biggest 3rd party announcement for Switch ever!! I’ll never forget how GTA III & Vice City blew my fragile mind!! Day 1 for Switch & Series X but I will get all 5 new versions over time. I want the trilogy on EVERY current gen system! 😁😆
@Strumpan I think the quality of lightbulbs varies a lot. But I've been using LED bulbs for many years without issue.
I have never preordered a game in my life. This collection could be my chance, I guess.
@nintendolife
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/gtas-definitive-edition-remasters-could-cost-70-according-to-a-retailer/
Apparently this is the price
@Little_Squee is it on the eshop already?
"It seems like the Trilogy is going to be the only way to play these games soon, as Rockstar states on their news post:
"To prepare for launch, we will begin removing existing versions of the classic titles from digital retailers next week."
Oh, how generous of Rockstar! 🙄
@Clammy
Because they're incredibly old, and let's face it, the improvements will be minimal as most remasters usually are?
If they're greatly improved, I'll take back what I said, but I'm not counting on it.
I am so excited for this!! I've been wanting GTA to come to Switch since the console was first announced! This works out perfectly for me too because I've never played the older GTA games! I'll be buying this on Switch and I hope this'll lead to more Rockstar franchises coming to switch after this and LA Noire!
Just grabbed the HD rendered original PS2 release of Vice City off the PS4 store, just in case they screw this up. Delisting is supposed to be this week, so these could go at any time.
@anoyonmus Not yet. Will keep an eye out tho.
A locked 30fps on Switch would be fine. GTA doesn't need to have a high FPS, it never has and plays fine. The PS4 Pro version of GTA5 runs up to 30fps (mostly 25fps) and is fine.
Definitely buying it.
A producer friend has been keeping me updated on their tests in getting V onto Switch but his details slowed down last year. And it’s not an online person either, it’s an IRL chap who moved to the UK from SA. when I was being introduced the introducer said “he sounds posh but don’t worry he isn’t” ha ha.
Too bad the Switch doesn't have any music players for custom tracks.
Does anybody know if you'll be able to buy just Vice City as that is the only GTA game that I like?
@Porky Cringe.
A real surprise would be if GTA V came to Switch. Hackers already got these games running on the system since I don't know.
But it's still nice to see them finally coming legitimately
@Yomerodes Framerate parity will never happen. Best to just hope for 60fps. You can bet that if it's 60 fps on the Switch, it'll be 120 fps on the PS5/XSX.
My wife and I game on the same switch, so I was already annoyed paying for a family plan when we wouldn't have to pay extra for it on any other system. But $80 is way too much. Makes me want to let are regular base online run out too. Way too greedy of a move.
