Re: Talking Point: amiibo Have Always Been Physical DLC, Skyward Sword HD Is No Different

DrDaisy

Ironically, I might have considered buying this amiibo if I didn't feel like doing so would just keep encouraging companies to pull this crap. Fortunately for me, I never liked this game (partially because it cements the prophecy that the hero must always be Link and never Zelda) so I never planned to buy this game in the first place. I'm still annoyed at the way the game industry is going though and I strongly believe another "crash" could potentially put a stop to it.

It s not just the game industry. Scalpers seem to be getting sadistic, like that guy who taunted people while trying to sell his ridiculous collection of PS5s. I think (and hope) he got robbed, but that part of the story is hazy. Anyway, unlike digital DLC, physical objects can be sold second-hand, which would be great if scalpers weren't buying them up like crazy, especially when using unethical if not downright illegal software to do so.

Re: Yes, Link's Improved "Fast Travel" In Skyward Sword HD Really Does Seem To Be Locked Behind An amiibo

DrDaisy

Another reason not buy this piece of crap. Apparently charging $60 for an old game with very few new features isn't enough and the fat cats felt the need to charge extra for one of the two new features this port does have. And you can bet scalpers are going to make things even worse because they're opportunistic jerks who insist on ruining everything! The physical key method sucked when it was popularized by Activision and Disney, it sucked when Lego and Ubisoft kept it going, and it sucks now! I never even intended to buy this game in the first place so I don't know why I'm so pissed off, but somehow I find myself infuriated all the same.

Re: One Of The Rarest Mega Man Titles Is Getting A Physical Reprint

DrDaisy

@Damo B) So you've said before. A lot of them are probably interested in politics. Doesn't mean they belong here.

C) If you weren't making a clickbait article, you could have put something like "Mega Man: The Wily Wars is getting released on Genesis in the West."
I don't even have to click on the articles to get upset. Just seeing that padding is enough.
I get it; this is your site now and you're gonna put whatever you want on it. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

Re: One Of The Rarest Mega Man Titles Is Getting A Physical Reprint

DrDaisy

I thought this going to be about a game on a Nintendo system. Instead it's just another junky clickbait article. Sometimes I really hate this site and it seems to be getting worse! If you care so much about Sega, Damo, why don't you make a "Sega Life" website or something and put subjects about your favorite company there instead?

Re: The Cotton Reboot For Switch Arrives In The West Next Month

DrDaisy

For $40, I think I'll buy a physical version if I buy the game at all. I hope it sells well though, and if it does sell well, I hope it leads to ports of the Keio Flying Squadron games. If those get released on Switch or PS4, I'll buy them just to make a point. ...Like that time Rolento hung a soldier with a metal cable.

Re: Random: Elon Musk Appears On Saturday Night Live As Wario

DrDaisy

I was never a huge fan of SNL, but they did have at least some of my respect until I realized they'll never have Weird Al as a host or musical guest, which is especially insulting since they have much less worthy people like Donald Trump, Peyton Manning, and this guy right here, Elon Musk. Maybe SNL isn't good enough for Al.

Re: Iconic Action-RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Isn't Out Today On Nintendo Switch After All

DrDaisy

This is actually what I was hoping for when I heard that Baldur's Gate I & II were coming to the Switch because I didn't know that neither one was Dark Alliance. I want to be excited, but for $30, I'm not so sure considering how old this game is. I guess it's technically cheaper today, especially accounting for inflation, but age almost always has a devaluing effect on video games and this is no exception. I'm holding out on Cotton Reboot for the same reason.

Re: Soapbox: Hurry Up And Release The Switch Pro Already, My Switch Is Dying

DrDaisy

So far, the only issue I've had with my Switch was control stick drift on a left Joy-Con I bought separately from the Switch about a year ago, and that was mostly fixed after I sent it in. I've only had my Switch for a couple of years though. If the damn thing can't even last half a decade, I doubt I'll be buying more Nintendo products.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Miss Instruction Manuals?

DrDaisy

I kinda like manuals and I don't remember deliberately throwing any away. I don't miss them terribly though and they often seemed like another thing to keep track of, although that wasn't as much of a problem with plastic cases. I wish at least digital manuals would be included with more re-releases of old games though. Most pre-2000 games didn't have in-game tutorials so the manuals were often essential. Wii U, 3DS, PS3, and even Wii had directions for retro games so I don't know why they're not included for the NES and SNES libraries on Switch. I guess Nintendo thinks the only people who want to play them already did back when they were new so they should know how anyway?

Re: More Retro Games Are On The Way To Capcom Arcade Stadium

DrDaisy

As much as I hope this collection gets the rest of the games from Capcom Arcade Cabinet, I'd be much more interested in the Darkstalkers series and the rest of the Street Fighter spin-offs. Of course I also want Aliens Vs. Predator, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, and the Vs. fighting games, but considering the pesky licence issues, I doubt we'll be seeing those any time soon. I wonder how much the C&D license would cost though, especially for bringing back just one game. Capcom did get to bring the Dungeons & Dragons games back for the PS3, Xbox 360 (and One via backwards compatibility), PC, and the ill-fated Wii U though, and considering AVP was put on a different collection, I wouldn't completely rule out possible future inclusions or hopefully individual ports.

Re: Talking Point: Wii Features We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch

DrDaisy

Definitely the Virtual Console to be sure, preferably with the extras @gaga64 mentioned plus virtual Controller Pak support for applicable games and features from the NES and SNES apps like online play and rewind. I bought quite a lot of games on the VC for Wii and 3DS. I probably would have bought a lot for Wii U too if I had one. To be fair, there are actually some NES games available to buy and keep on the Switch (I think all of which are from Arc System Works) but their number is a mere drop in the bucket and I'm not all that crazy about those games anyway, although I did buy Double Dragon 3 and River City Ransom.
Honestly, I hated the Wii Shop Channel music after a few seconds. I'd only approve of its return if it could be turned off.

Re: Xbox Cloud On Switch? Nintendo Won't Allow It, Says Industry Analyst

DrDaisy

This could possibly given the Switch to the ability to function almost like a Wii U controller. I say "almost" because I think the Wii U controller had a camera and microphone. I guess the microphone feature could be added with an accessory that plugs into the headset jack, although I've heard that the Switch cannot actually accept sound input which would mean the technology in certain online games like Fortnite and DC Universe Online somehow magically changes that for the purpose of chatting while those games are running. 🤷‍♀️

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy Is Headed To Fortnite

DrDaisy

@Entrr_username It's too bad Nintendo is a lot more stingy with its characters, although I'm not sure how they would address the weapon design. Like, would Samus (or Mega Man for that matter) just carry guns or would her arm cannon be able to use different types of ammo? How would she use melee weapons and fishing rods? With her left hand? Is she ambidextrous? I guess they could just have her wear her "zero" suit (which I'm pretty sure she wears under her battle suit anyway) and use both of her hands like everyone else. 🤔
