Seriously, I'd settle for HD ports or remakes of F-Zero X, F-Zero GX, and F-Zero AX. I'm not sure I'd like a brand new F-Zero game anyway because they'd probably come up with some "innovative" way to ruin it.
Shantae's extremely short attack range makes this game very frustrating, especially since most enemies take multiple hits and barely get stunned if at all.
Having watched two trailers, I don't see what the big deal is. Yeah, it's kinda tasteless, notably when the protagonist seems to enter a women's locker room (although they seem to be fully clothed), and the women are dressed provocatively, but so what? The game tries to tell guys how to seduce women, not abuse them. Isn't seducing men a common practice by women?
Frankly, I'd like to see Nintendo give Mario and Link a rest for a while. I'm pretty sick of those characters right now. I'd rather see Samus get more attention, or maybe give Daisy and Peach their own official game. How about a Zelda game where you actually play as Zelda? And don't give me any of that crap about the CD-i games. Nintendo had almost nothing to do with them.
Name recognition must be the primary reason they chose to release this even though there are superior Konami games like Mystic Warriors, Violent Storm, Metamorphic Force, and even Vendetta, and unlike The Simpson, X-Men, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I don't think license issues would get in the way.
I probably wouldn't get much out of this since I have never quite adapted to using a keyboard and mouse for sidescrollers, which is a shame because I think I would have enjoyed games like Noitu Love Devolution and Bleed more otherwise. I'm not too good with twin-stick movement in sidescrollers either, although I do keep going back to Bleed and Bleed 2 on my Switch.
If I didn't already know that an old baseball card from a pack of cigarettes sold for over $2M, this might surprise me. It's amazing to me what people will spend crazy amounts of money on, and that's even before taxes.
I wanted to see if I like the game before making a purchase so I downloaded a translated ROM. I don't care much for the game, and frankly, I find it frustrating. I'm not too fond of turn-based battle games, especially when it's 1-on-1. I have three Pokemon games, but only one of them is a traditional Pokemon game. The others are a pinball game and a Panel de Pon clone.
If Ryu Hayabusa shows up, will SSBU be the first fighting game to have two unrelated characters with the same first name? Actually, I think there were two Scotts in WCW vs nWo World Tour. What about the first non-wrestling fighting game?
It seems interesting, but I'd rather see them launch a Teen-rated app on consoles and put uncensored Bali and Williams tables on it or release the uncensored tables individually. Since that's probably never gonna happen, I guess I could try to get excited about this. I hope "Pinball Royale" refers to simultaneous multiplayer action and includes online. I miss playing Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 online with other people.
Let me guess. They can't think of a way to "reinvent the wheel" as it were? Innovation is good (when done right) but it's not always essential. I could hardly care less about Kid Icarus, but this stubborn attitude also seems to be killing any possibility for a new F-Zero game.
@Bizzyb I wonder why that's the case with SSBU. It doesn't seem like much of a RAM hog. What about Alien Isolation and Spyro Reignited Trilogy?
Actually, not every Switch game lets you take screenshots. The appropriately named Lifeless Planet is one such game.
I hope video clips can be recorded in the Switch version. I know some of the heavier games don't allow that, and I'm guessing the reason is there's not enough processing power left over. When I last played Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, I couldn't record video clips on those either. Has that changed?
@glaemay I don't blame Nintendo for not wanting to work under those conditions, but they should have gone over all the details before coming to any agreement. From what I gathered reading "Game Over: How Nintendo Zapped an American Industry, Captured Your Dollars, and Enslaved Your Children" by David Sheff, Hiroshi Yamauchi himself wasn't even in on the plan at first and he pulled the plug on the project immediately after finding out how the partnership would work. And what did Nintendo do when Yamauchi said no? They went behind Sony's back with Phillips instead of telling Sony the deal was off before announcing a new one with Phillips at the Consumer Electronics Show. Totally unprofessional and a real slap in the face. I guess sheer arrogance has that effect on some people, but that dismissive attitude is inexcusable. I'm still a Nintendo fan for some reason and I usually prefer Nintendo systems over others, but I refuse to defend such despicable practices no matter who is using them. @NintendoByNature What's your first favorite?
@brandonbwii According to GameFAQs and Wikipedia, TY The Tasmanian Tiger 2 was also published by EA. The third game was published by the other tyrannical titan Activision before Krome published the fourth game and remakes themselves.
@VoidofLight Huh. It still doesn't sound appealing to me personally, but that's okay with me. Well, I'm trying to be okay with it anyway. I know my tastes aren't the only tastes that count and I never have to play these games, read the mangas, or watch the animes, but for some reason that makes no sense to me, I almost always get at least a little annoyed when I hear about Yu-Gi-Oh again. I wish I could tweak my brain so that trivial stuff doesn't bother me anymore, but alas, even therapy doesn't seem to fix that.
@Zeldafan79 I'm not worried about Nintendo censoring it. I'm concerned because I heard some of these games were toned down when they were ported from Xbox consoles to other platforms.
Interesting article. Wrong website, but I guess that's to be expected on unofficial Nintendo sites now. It's gotten so bad on Nintendo Smash that they barely cover anything Nintendo-related at all.
For some reason, this has never been a big problem for me when switching between systems, but I would like there to be a standard layout across controllers, preferably with the bottom button being for primary actions as well as jumping and advancing in menus, the left button for primary attacks and dashing, the top button being for secondary attacks in action games or a menu in RPGs, and the right button being used for going back in menus and the least used actions appropriate for face buttons since having to use it constantly can lead to unwanted hand-cramps and just being uncomfortable in general. Most Xbox and PlayStation games seem to use my preferred setup; I just wish they (especially Microsoft) would make the controllers themselves more responsive, but that's a different subject.
It's been long enough, but I hope the newer versions don't have exclusive features that never come to Switch. That's partly why I never bought any version of Bomberman R.
Even already having the SN30 pro+, I thought about looking into this one until I read @Tim_Vreeland's comment. I don't want to support people who act like that. It reminds me of one seller on Ali Express who offered me a partial refund for a defective product in exchange for a positive merchant rating. Besides, the D-pad is not perfect, especially for diagonal directions.
@TurboTEF I don't have any issues with the style or gameplay, although I hope the soundtrack is more diverse and there's an optional English dub if there are speaking voices in the game. I've played several 3D sidescrollers over the years including Klonoa, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, the Pandemonium games, and Mischief Makers (a game that I feel actually deserves the 2.5D label since it mixes 2D characters and objects with 3D stages) and quite enjoyed them. Well, Mischief Makers and Klonoa anyway. I not so sure about the Pandemonium or Kirby 64, although the multiplayer mini-games in the latter were a blast to play with friends.
@Zeldafan79 @Chibi_Manny I think it's because "Wonder Boy" is the established title by now, like how Zelda's name appears in almost every game Link is in even when Zelda herself is not part of the story. It's pretty dumb to be quite honest, but that's the industry for ya. Even so, I don't remember this being a problem for Enix when they started calling the Dragon Warrior series by its original Japanese name Dragon Quest.
Why does everyone keep calling 3D sidescrollers 2.5D? Because it doesn't take as long to type? I don't think I've ever seen 2.5D described for any other genre, including other fixed camera angle games like Spider-Man Friend or Foe or the remake of Link's Awakening.
It's too bad Popful Mail never got a global release on Super Nintendo. Who knows when or even if someone will ever make an English patch for the ROM, but seeing as how the Super Famicom Goemon games eventually got translated after what seemed like forever (you can even find ROMs that are already translated if you look hard enough), I wouldn't be too surprised if a translation of Popful Mail shows up. Otherwise I might have to invest in a Sega CD add-on.
I must confess I'm disappointed that the Game Boy Player didn't have the same features as Super Game Boy. I can't even remember if SGB-enhanced games kept their color schemes.
Majora's Mask seems like it never should have been made. I guess Shigeru Miyamoto and Hiroshi Yamauchi were desperate to milk that series rather than create a Metroid game for Nintendo 64. It's a sore point with me, especially since Samus gets ignored every five years except for themes and costumes in that one Mii game for phones.
@HXLXIII You can stow the sarcasm. That's the only instance I can think of. I doubt it's the only instance period. Also, if the warning only shows up when you start the game, it's irrelevant, like those stupid terms of use in those Namco games you only see after buying said games.
