That's something else, was already going to buy it. But this seals it.

The part with Fury Bowser breathing fire and Mario Riding Plessie looks something out of BOTW's final battle.

From the look of it, you play through the course(s) as Mario, in a traditional sunshine and easy-paced way.

Then, Bowser drops, the sky goes dark, and you have to play the same course(s) again, this time with Bowser causing havoc. I assume that ends with Mario becoming Super Saiyan and fighting him.

Gonna be honest, I wish I could buy this separately. I've played 3D world to death and this game is expensive as hell in Canada.

Once again, Nintendo has the right idea, but implements it as cheaply as possible.

Bring Metallica or Iron Maiden out of retirement to produce the soundtrack, and expand this "Fury" into a full game. I will then buy.

The oil spraying off Bowser and Bowser Jr's paintbrush made me think it was almost Mario Sunshine-esque...

@IronMan30 Not for me. I prefer 3D World to Odyssey. It feels more Mario Bros and less Mario 64/Banjo Kazooie XD. The worlds are way too big, and there are just a few. It´s more exploration than platforming. I prefer the 3D World style, honestly (the Galaxys are also amazing, with tons of different levels).

this looks incredible!! 3d world is one of my favorite mario games (i like it more than odyssey tbh) and i cant wait to get back into it!! i have to wonder though, can you play as bowser jr? and can you play as the other playable characters like luigi, peach, and toad? also is this an entirely different game mode or is it like, post game? hmmm

I usually don’t pick up Switch ports of games I already have on Wii U, but I’ll make an exception for this one. 3D World was one of my favorite games on Wii U, and online multiplayer/speed increase/new content is more than worth the price for me.

And I thought nothing could ever compete with Giga Bowser, looking great!

I'm one of the rare people that owns it on WiiU...absolutely LOVES it...prayed for a Switch port and am delighted we're getting one!!
WiiU and Switch are SO different....the fact alone that I could play it on the go or a plane or on holiday etc is worth the £! Can't wait for this. Now lets hope we get the red base Bowser Jr Amiibo that was planned but cancelled for Mario Party Star Rush

Bowser's Fury looks like an Odyssey kingdom with 3D World mechanics. The collectibles seem to function like moons too.

Waiting till I hear how long this is, its like the final nail to knowing if its worth it for me. If not then maybe id somehow get it for cheap preowned.

A must get. The graphics are probably the best I've seen for the Switch. Koizumi is the new Miyamoto. He is doing a great job with the Mario series.

Watched it on the tv and the kaiju bowser looked awesome with the large scale. Watched again on switch portable and wasn’t too impressed so I’ll probably play this on tv for effect

Still, it's interesting seeing 64/Sunshine-style gameplay in 3D World.

Aah more content for my favorite and most played Wii U game. But I'll never see it, because I'm not paying for it again on Switch.

I'm thrilled to play this with online multiplayer. This will be absolutely awesome if it runs smoothly (I know it runs at 60fps, I'm just thinking of the often awful online multiplayer lag in the otherwise incredible Super Mario Maker 2). I also can't wait to find out how long it takes to complete Bowser's Fury, but it honestly doesn't matter because it looks like such a good time. I love fun and short games.

Super Mario 3D World on Wii U was among the first I played multiplayer with my kids, so it'll be fun returning to this game a few years later on Switch. The new content looks exciting!

I wonder if Bowser is like a blood moon in BOTW, he escapes periodically and makes the normally friendly levels hazardous until Mega Cat Mario (or hopefully, Mega Cat Luigi/Peach/Toad!) puts him back in his box?

Still don't give any information about how long it is, but I guess somehow it "forces" us to double dip. Dammit.

Well, I've never played 3D World, and this add-on looks extremely polished and, yes, "epic." I was already getting it, but now I'm getting it even more decisively.

@Garo Unfortunately that wont be the case, it's too small of a level to sell sperately (think 1 world in mario oddysey, maybe a bit smaller)

However, i will say they might release a game in that style later on, since this seems to be a 1 player add on to a 4 player game, who knows!

Looks fun, but unless Bowser's Fury is fairly long, I can't see myself double dipping for this one. Maybe a GameFly rental.

I was already going to buy 3D World as I haven't played it before and it looks like great fun. BF makes me even more excited for it. Looks awesome!

It definitely seems like that this will only amount to one huge open level surrounding the Goop Bowser, where you find and collect those "kitty shine sprites" in order to unlock the huge cat bell which will enable you to take on the boss. Every scene in the video shows that dark shell or the goop and you can spot the various areas in the distance in each shot. Kinda disappointing if that's the case. It looks fun but it might be over too soon.

@Crockin I'm sure some will disagree with my take. But I feel it's not a real fair comparison of both games. I mean, you can argue they're both Mario games that involve 3D and thus, a comparison is valid. But really, they're both two different styles of game. Odyssey was your Mario 64 esque type 3D game. Where as 3D World (and 3D Land by extension) was more like traditional Mario 2D platform games, but gussied up with 3D. It was the perfect game for those who wanted the 2D, traditional experience and not fully on board with the 3D games.

With that being said, I'm genuinely excited for this. Granted, I've owned the game before. But I only played through it once and sold it immediately after. But I remember having a real good time with it. So for me, it's been 7 years since playing through it. So I'm looking forward to it. Plus, my kids are in the picture now. So it'll fun to play with them

I'm a little disappointed in this. I love 3D World, but my favorite part is the multiplayer. Now you can just turn to your friends/family and say "Hey, we beat 3D World! But this part here is only 1 player." Lame. This should have been a separate release or the new content should have modeled the style of 3D World.

I would agree with most of the comments above that state that this isn't as good as Odyssey. However, you're comparing 3D World to an awesome game! Both are terrific and worth owning.

....but, I don't think I'm buying this a second time for 1 new world, even if it does look really fun to play.

It looks pretty good honestly. My only worry is that they spoiled the whole thing in the trailer, since it looked like that Bowser fight was the final boss fight of the mode. I really hope there's more to this than what they've shown, but I get the feeling Nintendo just basically spoiled the entire thing.

well off course this was release before it, i played on wiiu, it's more a small sandbox world level , much smaller compared to
the smallest of odyssey levels but still with hidden collectable, I remember i never manage to get all stars to unlock the special world(the hardest of all them), and i really want to replay it probably i will buy it again

@Darkyoshi98 lol In other places besides the United States, they FORMAT calendar dates differently. USA = month/day/year. The video is not for USA audiences. It's for other places in the world. They format as day/month/year. So the date at the end of the video means: day = 12th, month = 2, year = 2021. It's coming out in February. Seriously. Not joking.

My 6yr old played the poo out of Odyssey - even beating it himself a couple times (he loves to delete his save file and start over). I have this on my mothballed Wii U but I have it pre-ordered to play with him on the Switch.

Bowser has undergone so many transformations throughout the years. However, all of those are child's play when compared to this. Bowser now appears to be larger than ever before, and he actually looks scary as well. In the trailer, it states that Bowser "has become gargantuan and lost all control!" Something tells me that a mysterious new power has taken control of him, otherwise, why would Bowser Jr. ask Mario for help? Also, I really hope we'll get to play as Junior. He'd be a great character to play as. I may also ask my sister to play it since she's a big Bowser Junior fan.

Worth remembering this site is essentially an echo chamber for Wii U owners.

95% of Switch owners (quite possibly even more than that) will never have played this, so the entire game will be brand new to them.

@ukaskew I think it sold about 5m on the Wii U as well, which translates to over 65m people Nintendo are trying to sell it to. I loved it on the Wii U - I'm tempted - but let's see what other info they release on it first. There was tons to do on the Wii U version as it was.

Its seems its a cooperative/competitive race level or something? Like a very short "game" with just one course, but you play it lots of times to try beat records....

It looks fantastic, though I wonder how big this will be. I am not really in the mood to buy the game since I have it already on Wii u, so the extra content should be pretty big to convince me. I my opinion this should just have been a Mario 3d world sequel.

Odd how whenever something bad happens they always went to Mario for help, even Bowser Jr. needs assistance to bring back his dad from the dark side. I'll get this once I sell away my Wii U version.

But okay, just for you, I'll sum up my feelings more. I hecking LOVED the game on Wii U. I finished it up to 100% and it was a great journey, one that I am absolutely excited to fire up again, with online play, once it drops on the Switch. I am also excited for Bowser's Fury.

However, with them announcing this trailer beforehand, that set my expectations higher than they should have been in hindsight, and yes I admit that was mostly my fault, but at the end of the day, when they announce a trailer dropping soon, I expect more to be shown than simply the stage we were already shown before (even if briefly), a helper character you can't even seem to play as yourself, and a giant boss fight. If they just so much as showed one single extra playable character, or just explain how far the online portion of this game is going to go, that would already have been enough for me to prevent said disappointment.

All that said, I still am excited for this game and am going to get it day 1, and I'll love it all over again, including all the stuff that was shown off today. But I'm not going to show fake excitement just to make you happy.

Besides, don't act as if all I do is complain. I admit I do complain more than I should yes and I do apologize for that much, but when something excites me I show that all the same. Again, if you don't like my comments feel free to simply hit that Ignore button, I don't care one bit.

Also I'm usually alone anyway due to crippling social anxiety so thank you for confirming that I should stick to being alone, appreciate it mate.

@mariomaster96 I dont mind re-releases, infact I think they're great even if I dont buy them (at least the choice is here)

My only gripe here is that it feels rereleases takes priority over fresh content.

Personally what I want the most right now is a star fox announcement, a great game that harpens back to the lylat wars era but adds on top of it to make it the best one in the series yet

@Yosher I think every Wii u owner had a bit of frustration when seeing these announcements. On this site though it seems you're only a real nintendo fan if you approve of everything nintendo does 110%. Owning a Wii u didn't make you a real nintendo fan it simply made you a sucker. My sympathies.

@Yosher I have terrible social anxiety as well and I combat it by actually trying to be positive and happy. I don’t see you doing that as frequently as you think you do. The world is only as good as you and other individuals make it. If it stresses you out, maybe try to not put stress into it?

@Doktor-Mandrake this is my gripe as well. If the switch got all the Wii u ports in the first two years I could live with that. But here we are in year four and I'm waiting for wind waker hd to come out. these are all great games which the majority I am rebuying so I don't have a huge problem with it. What I am frustrated withma is the fact that the games I like most of my switch library are ports. Not only that I wish some of these ports had sequels already. Donkey kong, mario kart, 2d mario could all use some switch love.

@BAN I don't know why I'd be on push square. Did sony make my wall paper. Did they make my donkey kong arcade cabinet. Did they make my amiibo collection? Did they release splatoon 2? Just because someone may not be super excited about something doesn't mean they aren't a fan of nintendo. Theycould have a perfectly good reason. @WahooTime I know this is a first world problem but I don't have enough hdmi inputs on my tv to dedicate one simply to a console I would play irregularly. Instead I sold my Wii u and just committed to rebuying the games. Hopefully the next switch is backwards compatible.

@WahooTime I had one but you had to manually switch a button.. im not going to lie I am lazy so I gave up. Ever since we have had the ability to turn on our consoles by our controllers I have become a whole new level lazy. That said I grew up with a tv which had dials and an antenna that I had to adjust to get different stations. HDMI switchers feels like reverting to those times. Holy hell, this looks even better than I expected. A giant open world area tagging around with Bowser Jr. (is he fully playable or what?), searching for cat themed collectibles (looks like you progress by collecting Totally Not Power Stars/Shine Sprites/Power Moons), and a Dynamax battle against Bowser? This is what 3D World should've been like in the first place. I've been one of 3D World's biggest detractors because it's been missing content like this, but now I'm actually hyped.

@Bolt_Strike it does look like it'll be my favourite 3d Mario game... but ill miss the multiplayer aspects of the 3dworld levels... I really would have been happy if there was a whole game designed this way. maybe its a big add on... who knows.

Unsure if I will get this. I have a few rereleases with MK8D, DCktf for chill mode, Rayman, just bc I love it. Then recently picked up Toad bc a friend of mine thought it would be cool to play together. Not sure if this will have enough content to warrant me getting it again. If I do, it will be an impulse buy.

@sixrings My vote would go to Rayman Legends, but Rayman Origins beats both of them. That's a game I wish would get ported.

@Deliesh I thought Raman origins levels were in Rayman Legends. I'd be super happy for the ubiart engine to be used by nintendo in a 2d Wario game.

About what was to be expected from another full-priced, warmed over port. For those who've yet to play, enjoy! For those of us who have, yet more nothing from Nintendo.

oh my Arceus, that Bowser design is amazing, and that cats next to Mario(1:15 is Rosalina, Peach, Luigi and Toad transformed into cats?).

me and my boy looking forward to this games, when 3d world was released he was too young to play it and he is grazy about mario games. hopefully also some new switch features like nintendo always add within remakes:)

sad enough, we don't see any good rayman games anytime soon. the creator has left ubisoft, and the rest of the ubisoft company don't feel like making a new game, wich is a shame because imo is the best platformcaracter after mario en co and helped ubisoft to make a start to where its now at.

@PALversusNTSC it really is an under appreciated masterpiece.. NSBMU is nostalgic, but has a lot of recycled stuff. Rayman has a ton of replayability, great visuals and music.

Wow so... It's a PROPER 3D Mario game now, and Bowser is SERIOUSLY furious, not just some lightning and a fire castle themed level? I went from "whatever, played it already" to "what even is this game? Is this still Mario? I want to play this..." in a very short time span.

More importantly - should I go digital or physical?! I like the look of the steelbook but like the convenience of digital....

@pixelpatch This looks significantly larger than any world from Odyssey. It looks like it could fit multiple Odyssey worlds within it.

@BAN Really? Like the desert world is HUGE, at most it might only be 1.5 times the size.

We havent seen it yet so maybe youre right!

@pixelpatch Just watch the trailer again and look at the number of islands and obstacles in the distance, and the floating islands in the sky. The scale of it is clearly gigantic compared to even the largest world from Odyssey, as evidenced by the fact that you need Plessie just to traverse the thing in a reasonable amount of time. The equivalent in Odyssey would be the Jaxi, and you could probably ride that thing across the entire expanse of the Sand Kingdom in less time than it took me to write this sentence.

Anyway, maybe I'm wrong and my perception is off but I hope not!

Not expecting the mode to be a full game itself, but I still hope it's also not something that can be finished within an hour.

Bowser looks freaking terrifying. I'm hyped.

@BAN Hmm there's definitely a lot there, im excited to see it in a month!
