Re: Sonic Superstars Sees The Return Of Classic-Style Sonic With New Visuals

Dinglehopper

@Agent_P Well, yes...? Sonic 06 IS a joke. It's so horrendously bad. And yes, I have actually played it.

Also, since when has 06 ever been "Adventure 3"? Not sure where you got that idea from. You're the first person I've ever seen refer to it as that. It's never been called a spiritual successor and it was never SA3 at any point during development. If it's "Adventure 3", then it's through the most shallow, generic connections imaginable lol. A HUB world and some gameplay elements doesn't make it Adventure 3.

Actually being called "Sonic Adventure 3" would make a Sonic game, well...Sonic Adventure 3 lol.

Re: Poll: What Did You Make Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Trailer?

Dinglehopper

Well, I was on the fence before this trailer, but this absolutely blew me f**king away. This was the kind of stuff I needed to see to get me hyped for TotK. Ganondorf, huge monsters, champions helping you and fighting alongside you, new and cool changes to villages/past locations, big underground cave, potential dungeons, new interesting looking characters...IT HAD EVERYTHING.

My only let-down was no sign of a playable Zelda. But you never know. It could still be in the game, even if it's just her accompanying you, I'll be happy

Re: Video: Super Mario Bros. Movie 'Princess Peach Training Course' Clip Released

Dinglehopper

So, they changed Peach from a damsel in distress...

...to a Mary Sue with absolutely no flaws who can perform any task with perfect precision and execution. All for the sake of "being progressive" in the most generic Hollywood way possible.

No character growth to show that people can have flaws. No writing that makes you root for an underdog princess that has to BECOME a badass. No...just make the girly pink princess into an iconic "girl boss" yasss queen, slaaaaaay! 🔥🔥

Generic as it comes. This isn't even Peach. I'm now going to start calling her Princess Leech.

Re: It's Official, E3 2023 Has Been Cancelled

Dinglehopper

I'm glad it's dead. I'd rather companies release trailers or make announcements when they're ready instead of waiting for E3. It's also better for companies to not have to feel the need to prematurely announce something too, just so they would have a presence at the show.

I also hated wading through tons and tons of news articles during and after E3 just to find information on games I actually care about. Some games would get straight up buried and over shadowed by others too, and you might not even notice something was announced until a week later.

Re: Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach

Dinglehopper

@Anti-Matter but that's just as generic at this point. Making princess/female characters "bad-ass" who "don't need no man" and can "take care of themselves" has become such an overused trope now that's it's become the new cookie cutter blueprint for the entertainment industry.

Like, I actually find it just as cringe worthy as damsel in distress characters...if not MORE due to how forced and fabricated it is by people in suits.

Re: Poll: Six Years On, Which Was Nintendo Switch's Best Year So Far?

Dinglehopper

Kind of sad to say that the first year was still the best year 😮‍💨

There are a ton of good switch games, but still WAY too many Wii U ports and not enough original titles. BotW wasn't an exclusive title. Even Smash Ultimate in some ways feels like Smash 4.5.

Sometimes I feel like the Switch was mostly Nintendo's (successful) attempt at rectifying their financial losses from the Wii U. I'm hoping their next console is mostly unique releases instead of ports

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Wave 4 DLC Adds Yoshi's Island & Birdo This Spring

Dinglehopper

@Manxman64 The tracks are just lazy ports from a mobile game. They don't have the same visual fidelity as the ones originally created for MK8. Not only that, but they're not even built with MK8s anti-grav mechanic in mind either. So Ive had barely any interest in them to begin with. They feel like something a modder could have done, but WORSE to be honest.

So that's why I don't care about the tracks. But one of my biggest gripes with MK8 was the roster.

More than half the roster is babies, koopalings, and alt versions of Mario and Peach. If I can finally get the characters that should have been there from the get go, then I'll be happy to pay for them. But there's no way I'd buy the DLC for just one character. That's why I said if they start adding characters I'll be interested.

Then the DLC tracks I find lackluster are just an added "bonus". I already like MK8 and am fine with never touching the DLC tracks at all.

Re: New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer Shows A Flying Vehicle And Fresh Details

Dinglehopper

So......it's just BotW 2.0 as I worried.

No confirmation or footage of dungeons, more or less the same map but with things on top, the same repetitive enemies from BotW but with slight twists, etc.

My hype for this game has dwindled so much that I found it hard to even get excited for anything shown in the trailer. Also, I hated BK Nuts and Bolts and this looks like it literally ripped it off. No thanks 😮‍💨

Re: Princess Peach And Donkey Kong Debut In New Super Mario Bros Movie Trailer

Dinglehopper

Chris Pratt's voice is just so BAD. Not a fan of Peach's either, but it's not terrible I guess. But making her "badass fighting princess" is the most Americanized cliché thing they could have done to her character. Lame.

Not to rain on anyone else's excitement, but in my opinion, all I got from this trailer is that the movie is going to be generic. Full of lame tired jokes, clichés, and loud, horrible, overly orchestral versions of classic Mario songs. All the characters being voiced by celebrities was already a red flag, but this confirms to me it's nothing more than a souless cash grab.

Doesn't surprise me considering Illumination is behind it. I thought Nintendo's involvement would save it from being too "Hollywood", but I guess not.

Re: 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Launches In May 2023

Dinglehopper

@Cia Well, I won't keep my hopes up too much out of fear of disappointment, but I truly hope you're right. I hope they're just withholding a lot of information right now and are saving it for a TotK-focused Direct or something.

I want this to be an amazing game! One that surpasses the original BotW in almost every aspect. The Zelda series is my favorite game series of all time so I want new entries to be memorable and fun! I REALLY enjoyed the original BotW, but I didn't want the next mainline entry to be a repeat, that's all.

I think my excitement dropping for this game is more so from the drip-feed information xD I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Re: 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Launches In May 2023

Dinglehopper

@Cia I mean...they still haven't shown anything that really makes it feel any different. The sky gimmick isn't all that special, especially considering Skyward Sword exists.

My point is that nothing shown off so far sets it apart from BotW that much. It even takes place in the same Hyrule. If the next trailer doesn't showcase something more unique, my hype is out the window. I won't be able to stand playing TotK if I have to essentially fight against hordes of Bokoblins, Moblins, and Lizalfos again. I also don't want to deal with breakable weapons, Koroks, and shrine puzzles...AGAIN.

These trailers that last 50 seconds that showcase barely anything aren't making me more excited for this game. For a game that's been so long in development, you'd think they would have more to show by now? Like, how am I supposed to be excited for this anymore?

"It's not gonna be the same. It's just impossible."
How do you even know that? In the like, 4 years we've known about this game, nothing noteworthy has been shown.

Re: 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Launches In May 2023

Dinglehopper

If I'm being honest, this doesn't do much to excite me. As time goes on, my excitement for this game dwindles more and more. You can only show Link diving off a cliff into the sky so many times...

It also looks so similar to BotW that it comes across as a glorified DLC expansion. At this point, dungeons are the deal breaker for me. I'm not even going to play it if it's just BotW 2.0; full of shrine puzzles, Koroks, Bokoblins and Lizalfos. The sky gimmick doesn't do it for me and that really seems to be the selling point unfortunately. If the next trailer doesn't show off something that REALLY sets it apart from BotW, then I think all my hype will be gone.

Re: Introducing Koco, A Cute New Character Appearing In Sonic Frontiers

Dinglehopper

@victordamazio "BOTW DIDNT MAKE THE OPEN WORLD GENRE" Why do people keep saying this as if it's some sort of counter-argument?

Pardon my language, but no sh*t. But something can still be a blatant rip-off. It's not like I would call BotW a rip-off of GTA just because they're both open-world. But Sonic Frontiers is an OBVIOUS rip-off of BotW.

-Nothing but nature, old ruins and robots everywhere
-Nothing but piano music, even composed the same way as BotW.
-Landscape and visual style similar to BotW. Deserts, grasslands, etc.
-Completing random environmental puzzles by the "Not-Koroks".

That's just some examples. As more and more about the game is shown, the similarities keep piling up.

Re: Introducing Koco, A Cute New Character Appearing In Sonic Frontiers

Dinglehopper

This is so hilariously shameless. How does the IP even exist at this point? Who is still buying these games...and why?? The quality ranges from mediocre to hot garbage and they haven't done anything original in the last decade+. If they DO try something new, it ends up being terrible or half-baked and if they don't, they just make a shameless Nintendo rip off.

I legitimately don't understand. This is just The Legend of Sonic: Speed of the Wild.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Datamine Might Have Leaked Details About Future DLC Tracks

Dinglehopper

@KindofaBigDeal I disagree. Dataminers are unsung heroes imo. They just want to know what the product they're purchasing is, seeing how companies don't like telling you.

I'd rather know what DLC I'm buying before purchasing a season pass. If the tracks don't interest me, I'd rather not buy the whole pack. Same with characters in fighting games. If you think it's a "big deal" that you know what you're getting, then why don't you go grocery shopping with your eyes closed? I'll never understand the idea that you can be "spoiled" about what you're buying.

Sure, the reveal can be exciting, but I don't think it's worth getting angry over. To me, it makes sense that someone would want to know what they're getting before-hand seeing how they're spending their hard earned cash on it.

Re: Random: Up Or Down The Stairs? Super Mario Illusion Confuses The Internet

Dinglehopper

Before I watched the video, it was 100% looking like he was going downstairs. Anyone selecting otherwise watched the video first and is lying lmao.

The art is trash and the perspective makes no sense at all. Even after watching it, it looks like Mario is going downstairs and "King Koopa" is at the top of them. It's not "obviously" upwards at all lol.

Re: Bayonetta 3 Has A "Naive Angel Mode" For People Who Don't Want To See Bums

Dinglehopper

@victordamazio Yea...but I'm not arguing that it's good that it's censored, I'm saying that it's good there's a censored MODE.

I hate censorship but I still see this mode as a win considering the entire game could have been censored instead. The option for a "non-sexy" mode is such a non-problem. People being upset over this is like people being upset over games including an easy mode. Just don't use it lol

Re: Bayonetta 3 Has A "Naive Angel Mode" For People Who Don't Want To See Bums

Dinglehopper

I don't see how anyone could be upset over this option being included. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the point of this mode.

Considering the switch is a portable system, some people may want to play the game in public but don't want someone to see Bayonetta showing off her butt lol. I bet this option was designed with Japanese people in mind considering how much public transportation they use.
