Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Had "A Serious Conversation" About Bringing Mother 3 West With Iwata

Dinglehopper

@T317 It's better. The story is actually really deep and heart wrenching but with the same loveable quirkiness and fun that the series is known for. The characters are FAR more interesting, memorable, and well written than Earthbound's too. I'll always love Earthbound, but MOTHER 3 is just a better game.

I played Earthbound first and it became a 9 or 8.5 out of 10 after playing MOTHER 3, which I consider a 10 out of 10. Please do yourself a favor and play it. It's not a waste of time and you'll wish you played it sooner.

Don't hype yourself up too much or too little for it. Just go in blind and enjoy the ride.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Teases Release Of A Fan-Favourite Track

Dinglehopper

@Arkay I find they're much, much worse than the base tracks and even worse than their original incarnations in some cases too. Coconut Mall in MK8 is the worst version of the track to date on top of looking REALLY ugly and out of place. The tracks have cut features from the OG versions or even shortened completely.

48 tracks or not: they're low quality, low effort, mobile port cash grabs. And if you don't like them? Too bad! You're now forced to play on them online. Thus why I said they've ruined the mk8 experience (for me personally).

It feels like I'm playing a hacked version of MK8 where some modder did a quick port job to put in a bunch of tracks with no effort to make them "MK8".

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Is A Big Believer In Blockchain And "Play To Own"

Dinglehopper

Wow, it's hilarious how quickly Reggie just threw his reputation out the window.

This is why you don't act like a famous person is your friend or worship them. He got turned into Mr. Funny "Body is Ready" Meme Man but none of us know Reggie on a personal level. He was president of a company, and of course he's going to care about making money more than anything. We also dont know what his views truly are but this has made it clear as day that he's no different that any other greedy business man.

Re: Random: Another Look At The Super Mario Galaxy DS Fan Project

Dinglehopper

This is actually mind blowingly impressive. I'd expect this kind of high quality port for the 3DS, but the original DS?! Good job to the team or person behind this. I hope this doesn't getting DMCA'd or whatever.

I wish these fan projects wouldn't reveal their work until it's complete to prevent that sort of thing

Re: Splatoon 3 Gets September Release And Extended New Footage

Dinglehopper

Is this game going to have a decent sized single player mode? I've never been interested in the multiplayer aspect of Splatoon, but I really like the characters and world.

Also, are there no new hosts in this game? Callie and Marie, then Pearl and Marina, but no new ones for 3? They haven't even shown if Pearl and Marina are even in 3 to begin with.

Re: Playtonic Celebrates 5 Years of Yooka-Laylee, Teases Some "Surprises"

Dinglehopper

I'm still disappointed with Yooka-Laylee. It felt like a shallow, souless cash grab that did nothing right or original compared to Rarewares old platformers.

It tried TOO hard to be Banjo Kazooie, but it didn't capture any of the charm or fun from the original games. YL still remains nothing more than a cheap, mediocre knock-off. To be honest, I think it's because Gregg Mayles wasn't the director and didn't have anything to do with it. He was the director of Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, and DK64 and the reason those games were so good.

YL also didn't have the exact same team as those original games so it's not surprising that it didn't have the same magic.

Re: Square Enix Officially Announces Kingdom Hearts IV

Dinglehopper

@Solaine If she doesn't return, then I have no almost no hype for this game. KH3 gameplay wasn't great, the story was bad, and all it had going for it was the music. But even KH3 wasn't fully composed by her and you can REALLY tell.

I downloaded the KH3 soundtrack and deleted every song she didn't create because they were super generic. The story is impossible to follow and the gameplay in this trailer reminds me of KH3....so Yoko is the only way I can give a single crap about this game. That or actually bringing back Final Fantasy characters.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023

Dinglehopper

Are....are you kidding me?! But WHY?! The game is already made up of reused assets. It even looks like it uses the exact same Hyrule map.

HOW can it possibly need another year of development? Like, seriously??? Constantly needing to delay a game isn't actually a good sign. People keep saying "oh it's fine! I'd rather have a masterpiece than a rushed game!". Is there even a single example of a game being delayed multiple years and turning out good? I can literally only think of the opposite. Cyberpunk is a perfect example of a delayed game being a disaster. They must keep running into multiple problems and issues they need to deal with. It's actually the only reason to delay your product.

Re: Nintendo Issues Copyright Strike Against Scanned Super Mario 64 Guide From 1996

Dinglehopper

Copyright striking a scan for an out-of-print, 27 year old guide for a N64 game? Really...?

This is honestly a new low for Nintendo. A lot of the copyright strikes before this one had at least some justifiable reasoning behind them...but this? This is just absolutely absurd. I bet you that the guide would have also NEVER been taken down if news outlets wouldn't have reported on it. Typical.

Re: Kit And Krysta Reveal Their Least Favourite Mario And Zelda Games

Dinglehopper

@Effortless-gamer Lol that's crazy. It feels like it depends on who's moderating at the time. A while ago I had two of my comments removed in one hour.

None of them were offensive or "trolly" and were just merely my opinions on things but each of them were removed for "not being useful" or "flaming". I still find it really absurd.

Re: Random: Smash Ultimate Rollback Netcode Mod "Proof Of Concept" Up And Running On Switch

Dinglehopper

@DomGC It's funny how this was supposed to be sarcastic but ironically sounded like you were stating normal opinions that a lot of people would agree with. I was in complete agreement when I read "modders do a better job than Nintendo" and that "NSO is a sh*tty cash grab for gullible fools who aren't used to good internet services".

It wasn't until the "switch is bad in general", "Nintendo is DOOOMED", and eye-roll emoji that I realized you weren't being serious. Sending mixed messages. Not sure why your first two points were in there as if they were absurd. A lot of people DO think that tbh.

Re: Random: It's Been 1000 Days Since Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Was Announced

Dinglehopper

I don't know if anyone's heard of Project Re:Fantasy, but it's just as bad as Metroid Prime 4.

It was announced in 2017 and is the Persona team's next big IP. There's not been a single gameplay trailer or piece of proper news in all these years. It's not even known what the gameplay will be like or what the story is about. There's only a few pieces of concept art and nothing more.

The director comments every now and then with "things are going smoothly" and apparently he said last year that it might come out this year, but I doubt it lol

Re: Random: Forget Bowsette, 2022 Is The Year Of 'Eggma'am'

Dinglehopper

I LOVE the artstyle and design, but it doesn't really feel like "female" Eggman. It looks more like an anime girl cosplaying as him. Genderbent Eggman would not be that attractive lol.

Either way, this looks awesome! I'm sure some fanart will come of this. Definitely not Bowsette levels, but that's pretty hard to top 😂

Re: PlatinumGames' Live Service Title Is Off To A Really Bad Start

Dinglehopper

@MrHonest I agree. I feel like they receive too much praise when more than half of their games were flops, poorly marketed, or mediocre.

The only games they've made that were a success were Nier Automata, Bayonetta 1/2, and Metal Gear Rising. Everything else is barely known about and pretty obscure. Most gamers don't even know about Wonderful 101 or Astral Chain despite having fans. All of Platinums licensed games like TMNT and Korra are also really bad too.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Announced, Releasing Worldwide On Switch In "Late 2022"

Dinglehopper

-Already a new gen barely even a month since Legends

-The graphics and fps are just as terrible looking as Legends

-The starters are all ugly or underwhelming

Why are people even excited for Pokemon games anymore? Literally just going to be another soul less rush job. Fans really never learn, do they? I swear Pokemon fans have the absolute lowest standards of any Nintendo fandom.

Re: GBA Sky Garden Showcased For Mario Kart Tour, Spot The Differences From MK8 Deluxe

Dinglehopper

Sorry, but there are no differences. They literally just drag and dropped the exact course and assets from a mobile game and put it into Deluxe.

Probably one of the laziest things they've ever done. You'd think they would at least update some of the textures, but no. Only VERY minor differences. All the new courses completely clash with the rest of the games more "realistic" art style.

Will it still be fun? Sure I guess, even though none of the new courses will have anti-grav sections either. But I can't get over the minimum effort put into this DLC. I'm more blown away that people have just given up and accepted that Nintendo can just be lazy now and half-*ss content because they know fans will eat up and buy anything they put out.

Re: Nintendo Introduces The Protagonists Of Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Dinglehopper

@Arkay Really? I wasn't aware that was a problem people had with the character designs in 2. What drew me in WAS all the unique looking characters. Rex, Mythra and Pyra have a very iconic look to them but that's just my subjective opinion of course.

I can agree though that some of the blades clashed with the established art style in XC2. I thought it was a fun idea to bring in a bunch of guest artists to design them but it wasn't the best method for having a coherent look.
