Re: Could A Secret Code Hidden In Splatoon 3's Trailer Reveal The Game's Release Date?

Dinglehopper

@HeadPirate That's pretty cool and all and I know companies have done this sort of thing before, but c'mon.....this is Nintendo we're talking about here. I don't think they'd ever pull a cool marketing stunt like Valve would.

I appreciate when companies do this sort of thing, but it never happens with Nintendo. I think all the Smash Ultimate conspiracy theories that never came true dashed any sort of fantasy that Nintendo would hide details in trailers. Fans clamoring for details in Sakurai Presents videos unironically like: "OMG THE CHAIR IS PURPLE. WALUIGI CONFIRMED", really seemed like a complete and total waste of time. If people want to do this sort of stuff, then so be it. I'm not against people having fun in that sort of way. But I still think it's a total waste of time when it comes to Nintendo.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Is Finally Getting DLC

Dinglehopper

@LavaTwilight Upon further inspection, these look like they're straight up ports from Mario Kart Tour....

That's beyond lazy. MK8 made SOOOO much money as well as MKT and they still resorted to porting tracks from a mobile game? People better make a stink about this like they did about GameFreak reusing assets from the 3DS because this is just as bad, if not worse, imo.

These new DLC courses stick out like a sore thumb with the total lack of detail and low poly assets. They literally look like something a modder stuck in the game.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Is Finally Getting DLC

Dinglehopper

Ok, am I seeing things or are a lot of these courses graphically inferior to the standard courses? Like, they lack A LOT of detail as if they're still beta.

For example, sand and grass are just solid colors with no texture. Even compare the palm trees in Coconut Mall to the ones in Cheep Cheep Beach. The DLC ones look like they came from the GCN era...

Re: Team17 Confirms An End To Its 'MetaWorms' NFT Project

Dinglehopper

I feel like the only reason they decided to stop was because of devs saying they'd stop associating with them. I bet they wouldn't have done anything if it were just the consumers complaining.

Either way, at least it's a positive decision. The internet never forgets though.....so beware Team17.

Re: This Man Needs Your Help To Create The Best 24kb Game For The NES, Ever

Dinglehopper

Why do so many indie devs all have the exact same, forced "wacky, quirky, and weird" persona? They all use the same akward humor, use "random epic" humor. It's like they're just clones of each other. Doesn't help that they all seem to be obsessed with the 8-bit era and only make chiptunes and games that look like they're for the NES.

I find it so cringe.

Re: Team17 Is Jumping On The NFT Train With 'MetaWorms'

Dinglehopper

@SakuraHaruka Yes.

Mostly because I'm fed up with the modern industry as a whole and I personally feel the standard for quality games is really low. I barely play new games in general and there's only a few select companies left that I actually care about. Most of the companies I used to like have fallen from grace and let me down. Nintendo is one of the very few devs I still enjoy and I don't see them getting into NFTs at all. That's not their image.

I still have all of my old games that I still love (more than any modern games I might add), so I don't feel like I'm even missing anything. For example: Final Fantasy, one of my favourite series of all time, hasn't been good since FFX. Square has basically become a publisher for American games anyways so I'm OK with not purchasing anything from them. Plus, they give the Epic Game Store PC exclusivity which is a whole other matter that bothers me.

I still enjoy video games. I have a massive backlog of classic games that I've never beaten that I'm stoked about finally playing. A lot of modern games are half-baked and rushed and NFTs are the icing on the cake. I'm more than happy to not purchase any new games that come from a company pushing NFTs. I don't feel like I'm missing out on any quality titles by doing so.

Re: Team17 Is Jumping On The NFT Train With 'MetaWorms'

Dinglehopper

Any company that supports and sells NFTs are going on my blacklist. I won't buy a single game from them until they drop the NFT scam.

The list so far is:
Ubisoft (never bought any of their games to begin with)
Konami (they don't even make games anymore, so that's easy)
Sega (if they go through with their plans.)
Square-Enix (Shame, but their old games are better anyways)
EA (no loss whatsoever. The last EA game I purchased was for the PS2)

That's what I know so far

Re: Puzzle-Platformer Pompom Announced For Switch

Dinglehopper

Wow, this looks great! They captured the SNES Nintendo aesthetic perfectly, even the music! The official artwork even looks like something out of a Kirby game. I like the concept too, it looks pretty fun!

My only gripe is that some of the assets are maybe a little bit....too similar to Nintendo games.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Dinglehopper

@ThomastheDankEngine Bruh, you really think I'm going to read this novel when you start it with, "The difference between me and you is your towering ego"?

Thanks for the laugh. Irony at its finest. I'm happy knowing you typed out all that angry sh*t for nothing, because there's no way I'm reading this angry drivel. Pokemon must be a touchy subject for you based on your reaction to my post, which I might add, wasn't even hostile. Was it too hard for you or something? Couldn't get past the first gym? I'm trying to figure out why Pokemon makes you SO seething mad. Maybe you got bullied for liking Digimon over Pokemon? Hopefully a psychiatrist can get to the bottom of your completely irrational hatred.

Oh, and I when I skimmed through your objectively wrong post I saw the part where you said that Pokemon Emerald is the worst game you've ever played in your life and that you've played Sonic 06. You're opinion is now the worst one I've ever seen. I don't even know what to say. I'm glad I didn't waste my time reading your post. My brain cells will be kept intact. Literally nothing you can say from here on out could possibly be taken seriously. I'm not even going to reply, so don't @ me, LMFAO. 🤣🤣🤣

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Dinglehopper

@ThomastheDankEngine The difference between the old and new games is that the old entries are actually fun, unlike anything post-Black/White in my opinion. Also, most game developers are incompetent and end up getting outside help. Game Freak isn't the best developer out there (not even close), and their games always have lots of bugs, but at least they're not game breaking. I can play the entirety of Red/Blue without my game crashing due to some problem....unlike vanilla Skyrim. But I can't play Sword and Shield because I think it's a hideous, soul less, shallow, feature-cutting sh*t show.

I'm not even nostalgic for old Pokemon games. I didn't beat a single mainline entry until I was graduating high school. I'm not wearing rose-tinted glasses here. It's just obvious that they've become extremely low effort. The old games have their fair share of problems but at least they still felt like there was passion put into them. It doesn't matter that Iwata helped them or something. Legit who cares? Smash Ultimate had help from Namco, so I guess Sakurai and his team are incompetent too? Nintendo EAD got help from Monolith Soft for BotW. Incompetent much? Are all devs that require assistance in development just bad devs by your logic?

I'm not even a giant Pokemon fan and I'm not here to white knight old Game Freak titles. I've only beaten 3 Pokemon games but even I can see that the newer games are worse.

It feels like there's no point in discussing this with you anyways based on the fact you clearly have a hate-on for the franchise when you're saying all Pokemon games are mediocre McDonalds 7/10 games and other Nintendo franchises are 5-star restaurant 10/10's. You genuinely seem to hate Pokemon fans and the entire series so I'm not going to waste my breath any further. I think you need to calm your hatred down there buddy. It's not going to do you any good.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Dinglehopper

@ThomastheDankEngine What...? It's my own opinion. If you were implying it sounded "generic", it's because the general census is that Game Freak is a garbage company now and they pump out low effort games. My own personal feelings on them is going to be similar to lots of other peoples too.

What's your take? That they're still somehow "good" and that you'll defend every modern game they put out? Not very original either. Whatever you have to say will sound completely copy-pasted as well lol. No one's opinion is going to sound original unless it's completely outlandish and purposely off the wall. Give me a break, ThomastheOriginalOpinion.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Dinglehopper

Game Freak is just a bad developer now and they have been for many years. They're out of meaningful ideas, care only about money, and they can't even develop games properly on a modern console with low specs.

With my limited Pokemon knowledge, I'd say the last actual good Pokemon game was Black/White. I played and enjoyed X and Y to some extent, but it was the start of their decline.

Re: Ubisoft: Players "Don't Get" What Makes NFTs So Beneficial

Dinglehopper

I like how companies have degraded to straight up insulting gamers who logically think NFTs are the dumbest thing ever.

"We know they aren't an easy concept to grasp"
"I think gamers don't get what....blah blah blah"
"They don't get it for now..."
"Gamers really believe it's destroying the planet"
"We hope they will better understand the value we offer them."

Are you f**king kidding me? We understand what NFTs are and that's why we hate them, you greedy garbage soulless steaming trash heap company. I'll never ever ever EVER buy an NFT. Especially considering how abysmally they've handled the well deserved bad press around NFTs.

The gaming industry has turned into a huge joke.

Re: Even Miyamoto Doesn't Like "Stupid" Navi In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Dinglehopper

I think the hatred for Navi is so overblown and overdone. She's really not that annoying and never actually interrupted gameplay like Fi did in Skyward Sword.

I replayed OoT a couple months ago and the only time Navi "interrupted" gameplay was Inside the Great Deku Tree, the first dungeon, which I think is completely understandable

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'Second Wind' Mod Videos Targeted By Nintendo

Dinglehopper

It sounds like he was making money off of his mod videos, which would be a big no-no. It's not even surprising Nintendo took the videos down seeing how the Switch is their latest console and they wouldn't want videos up promoting the modding and hacking of their software.

I don't even know why anyone would think the decision was unfair on their part. They didn't even tell the guy to delete his mod either. What's the problem? It's pretty well known that if you make a mod for their older games that they won't go after you. They only seem to go for Fan games or videos of mods of their current generation games.

Re: 'Sega NFT' Trademark Spotted Despite The Company's Recent Hesitations

Dinglehopper

Seeing stuff like NFTs being pushed so hard by every game company makes me lose all faith in the industry. Gamings just become a massive scam hobby, with companies trying to squeeze every last drop of cash out of its consumers all while they pump out mediocre, half finished games.

There's very few companies left that I haven't lost faith in, but I'm sure they will eventually show their true colors too. Nintendo makes some terrible decisions, but at least they typically stay true to their original values and make consistently good games. The day Nintendo stops making quality products is the day I quit buying new games. They're really the only company I still buy products from.

I'll just end up playing old games on emulators, which I pretty much do now anyways lol

Re: Talking Point: Could 'Mario Kart 9' Be The Smash Bros. Ultimate Of Racers?

Dinglehopper

I'm fine with there being a few Nintendo franchise guest characters like 8 Deluxe had, but I don't want Mario Kart to lose its identity.

I'd much rather see lots of new and returning Mario characters, without the need for using alt versions of characters such as Metal, Gold, or Powerup versions. Bring back Petey Piranha, Birdo, Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Wiggler etc. Then bring in the new characters from Mario Kart Tour, Pauline, Dixie Kong, Nabbit, Kamek, etc.

Then also add new characters like the Broodals, or King K. Rool, or Wart.

Re: Sega Could Reverse Decision To Sell NFTs Following Fan Backlash

Dinglehopper

I love how these companies all collectively and hivemindedly agreed that we would want to buy NFTs, and have been trying to trick smooth brains into thinking it's the new positive and innovative thing we need.

If we ever need proof that companies truly don't give two sh*ts about their customers, just remember how hard they were pushing for NFTs and trying to trick people into buying them

Re: Random: This Guy Has Been Mining Out An Entire Minecraft World For 4 Years, And He's Almost Finished

Dinglehopper

@GoldenSunRM Honestly, I had just defended him earlier, but after watching the video of him talking about WHY he decided to do it made him sound very full of himself like he was special.

It would have been a different story if he had just done this for his own personal interest but it sounds like he did this for some sort of fame rather than actual enjoyment

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?

Dinglehopper

@SNESDisney when I saw Wind Waker was omitted at first, I realized the poll was garbage. It's a shame it was "forgotten" and left out because the poll creators favorite Zelda game is probably WW.

One simply doesn't "forget" Wind Waker. I'm sorry, but definitely calling BS on their claim.

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?

Dinglehopper

As someone who's beaten every Zelda game, I can safely say that Triforce Heroes, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks are my least favorite ones.

Triforce Heroes is the worst Zelda game ever made (I don't count CDi Zelda games as real Zelda games, because they're not). It was a completely insufferable single player game, so much so that I don't even know why they bothered with it. Then the game somehow becomes even WORSE when trying to play the intended multiplayer way. Playing this game online and attempting to beat levels with people running around, griefing, disconnecting and ruining the experience was an absolute nightmare. This game is quite literally the most unplayable Zelda game to date. I would have picked Four Swords, but I found the Anniversary Edition was at least more of an enjoyable single player experience than the entirety of Triforce Heroes.

Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are the most mediocre Zelda games I've played. Nothing about either of them stands out, especially compared to other 2D Zelda games. The control scheme is god awful. Slashing your sword and controlling Link with the touch screen is the worst control scheme concocted for any Zelda game in my opinion. The dungeons were very unmemorable, bland, and uninspired. I honestly can't even name a single one from memory. The PH dungeons all shared the same generic cave-sounding music and the ST dungeons had only 2 songs total and one unique one for the final dungeon. The over world is terrible in both games and wasn't ever fun traversing by drawing lines for the boat or by the abysmal train track system. Both stories were bland and forgettable, with only a few characters sticking out from memory. Also, the Lokomo and the train-based lore was the DUMBEST addition to the Zelda universe. The only thing more insultingly stupid was the fashion kingdom garbage from Triforce Heroes. PH and ST also had polarizing puzzles that required doing lame gimmicky stuff like blowing air or closing your DS. I hated all the stuff with the touch screen and the game completely relied on it. Oh, and the Spirit Flute was the worst and most frustrating experience I've had using an item in any Zelda game.

Also, Zelda 2 being voted so high is just stupid. I don't even think people have played it and just assume it's the worst game in the series. Admittedly, Zelda 1 and 2 are really flawed by today's standards. They're full of bad gameplay designs and are unfair or artificially difficult, but that was the era of NES games in general. The gameplay aspect wasn't what bothered me, but the really stupid archaic stuff like hiding entrances in places you'd never guess were there without using a guide. But that was the point. They were made to be really confusing or hard and could only be beaten by using guides or hearing what your school yard chums had discovered. It's terrible by modern game design, but you have to understand that it was a different era of gaming. All games were hard, trying to emulate the arcade experience. They weren't meant to be something you could beat within a week. It took years for kids to beat certain games. Games like Zelda 1 and 2 required mastery, learning the game inside and out and becoming a true "explorer" of the world of Hyrule. People would even draw their own maps of the world on graph paper! It was a different time. I don't expect anyone in this day and age to enjoy either game, but to call them some of the worst in the series? Complete ignorance.

Re: The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Rewards Continue To Face Delays

Dinglehopper

@Minfinity While I agree that it's a great opportunity for actual indie devs to develop an otherwise impossible project, I still think it's too much of a gamble to bother. Too many of these "indie" devs COUGHveteran devs already in the industryCOUGH scam people with fake promises and goals. Hell, even Undertale never delivered on all the Kickstarter goals and Toby Fox was an actual indie dev. He's a millionaire now and already developing new games. What's his excuse?

I backed Yooka-Laylee and it looked promising, but it was still a severely disappointing end result in my opinion (and many others would agree). It's completely unknown if the end product will be good, no matter how much you believe in it. It's also a really bad idea to pay for anything more than a digital copy.

Don't get Kickscammed. Don't back games and just let other chumps waste their money doing so, thinking they'll be receiving physical rewards and a quality game (LOL). Wait for the game to release, see reviews, then buy the game if desired.

Does that sound cheap and unfair? Who cares? I need money for actual important life things. I don't need to waste it on faulty products and broken promises. But that's just my two-cents, and the salty after taste of Yooka-Laylee.

Re: The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Rewards Continue To Face Delays

Dinglehopper

I laugh at anyone who still thinks kickstarter is anything more than just a new way of being scammed. How many times will it take until people realize that paying for something before it exists is a terrible idea? You're especially a chump for backing a game even before any gameplay is shown.

I have no pity for anyone who backs a kickstarter project and ends up with a garbage game or undelivered rewards and promises. It's happened too many times now and there are far too many examples of it. Just stop being a consoomer and stop backing kickscammer projects.

Re: Playtonic's Original Yooka-Laylee Game Is Getting A Follow-Up Title

Dinglehopper

Yooka Laylee was super mediocre and I regret ever backing it. Never bought The Impossible Lair and I have no interest in ever giving Playtonic my money again. The company doesn't have much talent or originality.

DKC and Banjo series were good because Gregg Mayles was the director behind them. He's had nothing to do with Yooka Laylee or Playtonic and they've poorly imitated his style. Without him directing their games, I'll never care about anything they make.

Re: MultiVersus From Warner Bros Is A Free-To-Play Platform Fighter, Skipping Switch

Dinglehopper

It's funny seeing people claim this looks terrible (seems like a cope mostly due to lack of switch) and that somehow Nick All Stars Brawl is better. This game looks superior to the Nickelodeon game and will undoubtedly do better than it too. It's also going to have a bigger community and online functionality due to its higher budget.

Free to Play doesn't equal poor quality game either lol. Do Nintendo gamers never stray from their system and never play actual good FTP games like Team Fortress 2 or Dota? I wouldn't knock this game until it releases. We dont even know what the "paid" aspect of the game will even be yet. It could just be skins and nothing more. How about waiting until we know more until letting your saltiness out?

Re: Playtonic Announces Tencent Investment And Major Expansion Plans

Dinglehopper

Well, I backed Yooka Kaylee and was extremely disappointed by it after playing that mediocre mess. Never bought a game from them again, and now this is the final nail in the coffin.

I guess Rareware is dead in every possible way now. The company itself is a hollow shell of its former self and all the previous employees are gone. And now, the company made up of previous employees is mediocre, soulless sell-outs. Guess we at least all have the classic titles right?

Re: Datamine Uncovers References To PS4 And PC In Switch Exclusive Shin Megami Tensei V

Dinglehopper

Good! I wanted this game but I saw the absolute abysmal framerate and performance of the game on switch and longed for it to be on other platforms. Same reason I never bought Octopath Traveler until it came to PC.

To be honest, I have no reason at all to get the switch version of any game if I can get it on PC or any other console. Why get the most inferior version of a game by buying it on switch? The only games I buy for it are the Nintendo exclusives lol
