After all these years Reggie actually gave a straight answer? At least I 'll have the piece of mind knowing that Pikmin 4 will never see the WiiU. Breath of the Wild will be my last Nintendo game. I'm not dealing with Nintendo again after the WiiU. With the exception of the Wii, every Nintendo home console successor has has sold less than its predecessor. If this trend continues the Switch will sell less than the WiiU and be a bigger failure.
Yeah not getting the switch. Not listening to Reggie tell me alot of nothing anymore. This system already has the worst launch lineup and Nintendo doesn't want to talk about whether or not they are making the games that fans want? A lot of the switch's launch titles look like cancelled WiiU games. The switch is a hand held console that can be hooked up to the TV, not a real home console.
I'm definitely up for hacking one of these if I ever get one lol. I expect this to be discontinued before stores get more stock. This is from the company that recalled all WiiUs right before Christmas.
Not buying into the hype that doesn't exist. Outside of the hardcore Nintendo fan base, that gets smaller every year, people don't even know about the Switch or care. Its going to look like a WiiU 2.0 to them. Another controller with a screen built in when they didn't even care the first time around. And the few new VC titles Nintendo will release wont sway them.
He either doesn't know what the word secure means or is trying to avoid the word piracy. I think the always online connection is to stop piracy because Nintendo is paranoid and they want complete control.
I don't think I'll ever buy one. The Value isn't there for me though I like the novelty of it. In Canada the MSRP is $79.99. That is a steep price tag when all the games that I like I already have on my WiiU/Wii. The controller cable is too short which means you have to spend more money on extension cables. I already have an official wireless option on my WiiU/Wii. Its another thing taking up space that can't do anything the WiiU doesn't already do. And there is the headache of being sold out nation wide. No stores were taking preoders and only a couple Gamestops/EB Games have limited stock on the west side of the country. The rest of the country is sold out or never got stock. This is the worst launch ever. Nintendo doesn't learn.
I would be more excited if I could actually preorder the damn thing. Outside of Europe no one is taking preorders. I might pass by the store to see if there is any next week but I won't be wasting my time hunting these down. Nintendo is really good at screwing up a launch.
I've always preferred first party controllers over third party. Wireless dose have its advantages though. The extension cable will be needed for sure since Nintendo made the wire so damn short. They cheaped out by not going wireless and cheaped out again by shorting you on the wire. I would rather have a longer wire and no HDMI cable included. But since I don't see any stores taking preorders in Canada I don't expect to get one of these.
Why does it seem like Nintendo is trying to create a shortage? BestBuy & Amazon are not taking preorders yet and GameStop confirmed they won't be doing it at all. If this thing is hard to find like when the Wii was released I'm simply not going to bother. Leave it to Nintendo to ruin my enthusiasm.
I guess the Android version will depend on the iOS sales/profit. Nintendo is famous for cost cutting measures. They couldn't even make a different fourth playable character in New Super Mario Brothers Wii.
It will be cool to see cartridges make a comeback. But this does mean no disc drive and no backwards compatibility with WiiU & Wii Games. Doesn't really matter though because I don't think the NX will be successful anyways. Nintendo believes they have to do something different just for the sake of being different and than can't figure out how to explain to everyone else why different is better.
If developers really don't know than how can they make any games for it? There will be a lack of third party games at launch followed by a lack of interest as a result. Sales will do poorly and third parties will abandon ship again.
All I wanted was Pikmin 4 so this is a huge disappointment for me. An entire E3 presentation just on Zelda won't keep my attention. If they seriously have nothing to show for the WiiU than they should start building up hype for the NX. Do they expect to reveal the NX to the general public at the last minute and hope everyone goes gaga over it?
This looks more like a port job than a remaster. And it makes some sense. Splatoon & SSB4 both have online communities. With cross platform support of the same game Nintendo will be able to keep those existing users and expand upon it. This would also mean that the NX is likely not backwards compatible.
You can kiss your backwards compatibility good bye. The Wii & WiiU are based on a custom PowerPC architecture. If they switch to x86 they can't do hardware based backwards compatibility. They would need to do a software backwards compatibility solution and I don't think they will. They couldn't do something as simple as software emulation for GameCube memory cards on the Wii. I doubt they'll put the resources into NX BC. They didn't even bother releasing GameCube games on the WiiU either.
The WiiU is capable of playing GameCube games. It can't read the mini discs, or support GameCube memory cards and controllers natively. That needs software emulation. If you hack your WiiU and run the homebrew app Nintendont you can play GameCube ISOs from an SD Card or USB Hard Drive with your WiiU Pro controller and save your games to a virtual memory card on the SD Card. The hacking community proved that its possible. But Nintendo won't do anything that isn't on the cheap for them.
And Nintendo still hasn't released WaveRace 64 in NA for the WiiU VC. I would have liked to have a boat version in addition. That old commercial looks more exciting than a lot of Nintendo's new commercials.
You guys are going to hate me for saying this but this is the perfect game for the Amiiqo considering you need 11 different Amiibos to unlock the full game. It would be even better if Nintendo released a full deck of Amiibo cards at an affordable price.
I'll forgive Nintendo if they release Pikmin 4 for the WiiU, but I still won't buy an NX. If however they make Pikmin 4 exclusive to the NX and completely drop software support for the WiiU I'll hate them for a very long time.
If Nintendo's system were more like Steam than I would be more digital. As it is the Wii U days are coming to an end so I'll buy the remaining few titles on disc before the end of another chapter.
A touch screen controller hurt the WiiU considerably by raising the cost without a proportional benefit to gaming. If Nintendo releases another touch screen controller that is even more expensive than the WiiU's they are doomed. A screen that wraps around buttons is a novelty that wont impress the majority for very long.
Both will fail. I don't expect the VR add-on to take off. Most add-ons fail. Sega Cd / 32x, Kinect, Playstation eye / move, etc. The NX will fail not because of VR competition but because only hardcore Nintendo fans buy their system and they are a shrinking population.
This game isn't big enough to give the NX much of an advantage. You have to be old to remember the first because so much time has passed. I wouldn't be surprised if people who started gaming with the PS3 or PS4 don't even know what it is. There are probably even people from the PS2 era that have never heard of it before.
The old 3DS is powerful enough to play SNES games. Not supporting the older hand held is a d*ck move by Nintendo. If virtual console support on the WiiU is any indication of whats coming I wouldn't hold my breath for the New3DS. By only supporting the New3DS they are reducing the majority of the customer install base and third parties won't want to bother with it.
