Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (Europe)

Dauntless

If the reviews are good for Rodea I'll pick it up when its in the bargain bin. They have this crazy idea that I'm willing to pay 74.99CAD (before taxes) for this game and I'm not. I wouldn't even pay that much for 3D World which could very well be one of the best if not the best game on the system.

Re: Rumour: More Evidence Mounts of Twilight Princess HD

Dauntless

Considering that the Wii U can play the Wii version and upscale it to 1080p this is disappointing because there are GameCube games that should be getting HD remasters like Luigi's Mansion & Mario Sunshine. Especially since it seems like Nintendo is never going to add GameCube games to the Wii U Virtual Console. What a waste rereleasing a game many have already played and can still play on the current system.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

Dauntless

I'm not big on the download only for consoles. For the most part my digital library is Steam/GOG PC only. I usually only buy digital games when they go on sale and never at full price because there is absolutely no resell value.
The reason why I'm lenient towards Steam/GOG digital games and not Nintendo console digital games is because of how the account system works. Nintendo games are tied down to the hardware and if it dies and is no longer supported by Nintendo I'm out of luck. With Steam/GOG games I can build myself a new computer with off the shelf parts and transfer my library over. The only way you can transfer Nintendo games over to another system is if you have the original disc/cart.
I still have my Sega Genesis from when I was little and the carts to go with it. Longevity is something I think about. Digital software doesn't last forever because of the restrictive DRM and that is a big factor in determining if I spend money on it.

Re: Talking Point: Why Does Investor Confidence in Nintendo Continue to Dip Under Tatsumi Kimishima?

Dauntless

Tatsumi Kimishima didn't understand the game industry in the GameCube era. Why would he understand it now?
Nintendo has been in a decline since forever with the exception of the one time Wii anomaly. With these sales patterns the NX is going to be a failure. Nintendo is aging and more out of touch with each generation.

NES 67m Sales
SNES 49m Sales
N64 32m Sales
GC 22m Sales
Wii 101m Sales
WiiU 10m Sales

Re: Natsume Suggests That Nintendo's Moving Away From SNES on Wii U Virtual Console

Dauntless

So the reason why we are missing so many titles is because Nintendo has to control everything themselves, they are short staffed and don't want to hire addition workers. No wonder why their third party support sucks. All they have to do is give third parties a little more freedom and trust that they can test a rom with their emulator and we could have much more vc titles. I'm not surprised by Nintendo's backward approach anymore.

Re: Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Down Wii U Ahead Of Nintendo NX Launch

Dauntless

The biggest Wii U news for the last Nintendo Direct was that Fatal Frame is coming. So yeah the wind down is beginning. But this was expected. Nintendo operates on a 5 year cycle. The Wii U came out in 2012. We are in 2015. Nintendo will end support in 2017 if not sooner in 2016. There isn't much time left folks. If we are lucky we may see a 3D World 2 or Pikmin 4 before the end but I wouldn't expect miracles. Zelda can very easily become a dual platform release.

Re: Nintendo Of Canada Hikes Up amiibo Suggested Retail Price, Offers Gold Mario To Smooth Things Over

Dauntless

I didn't feel like buying it at $13.99. I sure am not going to at $15.99. In all fairness this hike actually puts it closer to the US $12.99 with the current exchange rate. But this is something that should be US $9.99 to begin with, and Canadians didn't get a raise to be able to afford higher prices after the Loonie dropped. I don't see the appeal in expensive Chinese plastic. I would rather spend my money on more games.
