The time is finally here - My Nintendo has launched in the West. The replacement to Club Nintendo appears to have beaten Miitomo to the punch as you can visit the official website, register and start earning and redeeming coins.
We'll be rustling up a short Getting Started guide, but for now we have the European reward details below.

As indicated above, the 'Just for You' discounts may vary per user, but they seem poorly optimised. This writer has been recommended those games despite owning them all (except for the upcoming Metroid: Other M Wii download on Wii U), most or all of which were registered on Club Nintendo or bought on the relevant linked Nintendo Network ID via the eShop. Aside from that, however, the website and its implementation are slick and rather impressive based on early impressions.
So, head on over to the official My Nintendo website to login with your Nintendo account, and let us know what you think of these early rewards.

What I find interesting is how you're able to get a downloadable DS game onto your 3DS! Finally!
Flipnote Studio 3D is also now available
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-3DS-download-software/Flipnote-Studio-3D-763095.html
Is it possible that it's only up in Europe so far? I'm in Canada and am still just getting the "pre-register now, coming soon" page.
@Igetin It may pop up at 2pm with the rest of the download update options.
Just checked it out. Got points for doing the first couple of missions. About to get Flipnote Studio. Everything seems to be going smoothly so far.
@Axed84 That is possible, as it may be due to go up slightly later in North America to adjust for time zones.
@ThomasBW84 Well I've waited this long, what's a little longer?
For Flipnote 3D if the download doesn't automatically start, go to the eshop-settings-re-downloadable software and boom there you go! Still I'm digging the new website!
@Igetin If you click on it you'll get instructions on how to redeem. In short:
. Go to www.nintendo.co.uk
. Sign into your NNID
. Search Flipnote Studio 3D
. Click the search result for it
. Click free download
I confirm that my.nintendo.com is working here in Italy too. Still no Miitomo on the app store at this time.
I've clicked a link on my PC, and now my 3DS is downloading Flipnote Studio 3D. This truly is the future.
Points are only valid for 6 months this time from registering - might make saving up tricky?
It's telling me I've not linked my NNID to My Nintendo, yet I'm still able to download Flipnote ...
Cool..just checked it out and completed 1st mission...do I need a box to hold my coins tho?...my coins are safe with Wario!...
I don't understand, I feel under pressure being on a time limit. Do I have to spend coins on that box, just to be able to collect further coins?
I was going through the website and noticed "point codes" that you can redeem to get points. I wonder how they'll be made available as it seems like the only way to get points outside of missions.
Gees, I bought so much stuff on eShop the last few months. I was reeeaaaally hoping they would backdate the points to when Club Nintendo went down.
@Moon Yes sadly you do
I think that the box is there to teach the user how to collect points, the 100 points for "Start using My Nintendo", then how to spend points, the 50 points for the box.
It seems to be working in Canada now. Hurray! Bring on Miitomo!
Wow. Complete with charming Nintendo sound effects. Why not?!
This is coming to Scandinavia eventually right?...please tell me it is
If you press the brick at the bottom of the page, it scrolls you back to the top. Its a secret mission that gets ypu 10 platinum coins
Two things:
1) There is an option for "Redeem a My Nintendo Point Code" in the menu. Codes in retail products coming back or for hand outs??
2) Don't like how you can't filter/sort the rewards.
@Pahvi that's because around 2008 they got rid of Club Nintendo over at Scandinavia and never brought it back. So i was excited to see it removed especially on my birthday, so we could have something that would actually come over here. Which i've been saying this better do.
I found a section for entering points codes (like club Nintendo). So there's hope for people like me who buy all games physically.
Spent a bit of time on it and seen to be racking up points without realising it, so must be doing some of these secret missions. I do hope they give out those gold rewards on physical copies though.
Club Nintendo was better, not even sure I am going to waste my time with this mess.
So when the gold/platinum rewards say download codes they really are download codes, right?
I'd like the Zelda Picross but have no interest in having an NNID on my 3DS. It makes me wonder why Flipnote Studio 3D is being handled differently. To be honest I'm expecting to make the 1000 points for Picross then be told "can't redeem you don't have 3DS".
The predicted 6 month point expiration window for points is true and I'm sad it affects gold points too. If the gold rewards were better I'd say it discourages regular purchases and binges instead.
I notice I've missed a trick to extend the life of coins. The 6 month countdown is after you collect them, therefore you can delay collecting them. This is similar to what I did with Club Nintendo where I only registered games when the slips were about to expire (and messed up a few times and got them expired...oops).
Loving the new website, but on the info about Miitomo it says it's not compatible with my device. Has it been released in the UK yet, or does it actually just not work with my phone? I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini if that helps.
Got the missions I could complete( don't have a Twitter or Facebook, but I might just make one for the points). I want that Zelda picross, so I'll try and gather 1,000 points. Good thing I checked the comments, I didn't know of the flipnote 3D. I got the flipnote download a while back for Club Nintendo but never did. Might as well now
Heh, I'm all set. Now I'm just waiting on Miitomo.
@Dogorilla I am sure it will work. It just did not launch yet. I added it to my wishlist through the Play store site and am able to see the app listing on my phone.
On my phone it simply says "This item isn't available in your country." On the site, it says "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." I have a Galaxy S5, so I know for sure that it will work. It just is not available here yet. (I'm in the US.)
Do you think we get any points for spending money on the Wii Shop Channel? (Guess not...)
@SMW Ah ok, that's what it says on the website for me as well. Thanks
@WaddleKing It works in Sweden right now.
Now, what about the new store? Was that also today?
I have 2 3ds's so I have two accounts! I really like the platinum points as I'll soon be able to get more stuff on my smaller N3ds without spending some money, I'll get Twilight pricross on my New XL and warioware touched on my smaller model! Then when I eventually got more points vice versa for both! I also want to to get those themes as I haven't missed a club Nintendo/ exclusive theme yet!
i've already bought a ton of eshop downloads on both 3DS and wiiU. I wonder why the system can't look at what I have and retroactively reward me with the appropriate points.
@Malanta Just arrived to point that out. Nintendo really wants you to spend those points. Doesn't bother me for platinum rewards, but it will be hard to gather enough gold ones to do anything.
@Lizuka Believe me, this is much better than the previous system. I registered about €250 worth of games on Club Nintendo (the horror) and had enough stars only for NES Remix on Wii U and a cussy 3DS theme.
You can get Metroid Fusion with the purchase of a €40.00 eShop title. That is pretty damn good.
My 3DS is Australian but my Wii U is British.
I linked my UK NNID... anyone know if they'll let me link both?
Finland here reporting!
Just linked my NNID to my Nintendo Account and logged in to My Nintendo. Damn that Zelda Picross platinum points gathering will take forever since there are just so few Platinum missions available.
I need to contact Nintendo and ask why is it even in this Nintendo Account that the account history starts in december 2013 and everything I bought before that on my 3DS is only visible in my 3DS account history, but not in Wii U NNID history or this new Nintendo Account history. I would like my full history to be available.
I also went and remote put Flipnote Studio 3D to be downloaded into my 3DS at home. Will be fun to see if it really downloaded when I get back home.
@Daemonite One step forward... etc
'-(
@arronishere
It's part of the tutorial. After that you aren't forced to use the points on anything you don't want to.
@hefferj
"You can get Metroid Fusion with the purchase of a €40.00 eShop title. That is pretty damn good."
I dont think thats anywhere close to damn good. It doesnt even pass as simply good. As long as Amazon and others are selling EVERY title in its physical form cheaper than a download title - what exactly im getting for free?
Its the same Nintendo policy as before, you barely get any good deals but time will tell with this new platform. Right now, simply mathematics tell you its worth zero.
Apparently if you complete a mission on my nintendo, it gives a relevant miiverse notification. That's neat
I noticed that the free game downloads on Platinum Points have expiration dates:
Twilight Princess Picross with 45 Puzzles is available until October 1st. It costs 1000 Platinum Points.
Wario Ware Touched (which is a DS game download on 3DS) is available until July 1st. It costs 1000 Platinum Points.
Now, there are weekly rewards for four activities:
+30 - Collect the My Nintendo sign-in bonus (weekly)
+30 - Visit the official Nintendo website while signed in to your Nintendo Account (weekly)
+30 - Sign in to Nintendo eShop via 3DS or Wii U (weekly)
+30 - Sign in to Miiverse via 3DS or Wii U(weekly)
Through these weekly activities across both Nintendo Systems and your web browser, you can accrue 120 Platinum points a week.
There are 13 weeks before Wario Ware Touched's download deadline, and 26 weeks before Twilight Princess Picross's download deadline.
In 13 weeks you can earn 1560 Platinum Points through these weekly sign-ins alone. No Miitomo, no social network account linking.
There are also other Platinum point prizes like My Nintendo Mario and Donkey Kong themes, 20% off vouchers for the eShop, and Miitomo outfits and "Drop game" tickets. The exclusive games seem like the best use of Platinum points but you'll actually have enough left-over to get these other things too.
I'm liking how they're handling this, but I'm remiss that the rewards scheme is strictly digital. No rewards for your physical purchases it seems, and that's how I consume my Nintendo games whenever possible!
Edit: I've just noticed that My Nintendo Points will expire 6 months from the time they are earned.
Thankfully, this should not be an issue if you redeem them when you've earned enough for a big reward like Twilight Princess Picross or Wario Ware Touched. You might be forced to get a smaller-reward now and then to avoid them going to waste.
They should add points for all games people downloaded in between the rewards programms...
I got to change my Miitomo game's country of residence to America and link my club Nintendo account so those weeks worth of playing were worth it. It also seems you can add Miitomo coins and platinum coins together to get Twilight Princess Picross. I currently have 750 combined coins. I can still probably get another 125 miitomo coins today So I'll just fall short.
Nice, I'll have a look when I'm less busy later. The Zelda Picross will probably be the first thing I spend points on.
I wonder if Zelda Picross will ever be made available for purchase using conventional currency. I'm still annoyed that I missed Zelda Four Swords last time it was available on 3DS, and I would buy that with money if I could.
@crimsontadpoles
Doubtful, there are two Club Nintendo Picross titles that never left Japan. These downloads were chock-full of puzzles (compared to the paltry 45 in Twilight Princess Picross).
Japan also had some Club Nintendo exclusive physical games like Tingle's Balloon Fight.
@Drac_Mazoku
Did you remember to sign into your Nintendo account on nintendo.co.uk, or.com or whatever region you are in?
This earns you +30 platinum coins a week as well, but it's not listed on the missions. You need to discover this under your points history.
I'm having difficulty getting Flipnote 3D, for some reason it won't log me in on the Nintendo website (it pretends to log in, but it does nothing).
Also great to see I can get a discount on a game I've already downloaded (Pushmo World). Thanks, Nintendo.
Welcome to the 21st century Nintendo!
It's a shame the rewards aren't tailored to you. I'm being offered discounts on a lot of stuff I already own - or at least think I own - which is a bit confusing.
@Drac_Mazoku
Nice, I just discovered the brick block secret mission on the My Nintendo homepage as well. 10 bonus coins!
I can't do much because I can't download Miitomo :c
I'm looking at the discounts and notice that Metroid: Other M is one of them, does that mean we'll be getting Other M today?
@gardevoir7 If you have android you can always download the apk. I've been playing Miitomo for weeks and it let me sign in my My Nintendo account. I'm already up to about 800 platinum coins. Of course the game comes out today so you could just wait.
This Micky Mouse BS isn't worth my time.
@AlmightyDerek "If you have android you can always download the apk."
Where you find that apk?
I just opened MyNintendo and had 230 platinum points already there for me,I got another 100 for using it for first time taking me up to 330,I followed the red arrows to redeem them and now I've only got 280.Seems like I've bought a box to keep my coins in for 50 coins.What's that all about?
@AlmightyDerek I've tried that but it always says there was a problem parsing the file.
Now Miitomo seems to be available in the App Store.
So you can't hoard coins for too long? I won't be able to properly get into My Nintendo until this weekend, but I'm thinking the gold coin prizes will pretty much be out of my reach if that's the case.
REALLY hoping Nintendo finds a way to implement physical purchases.
Well... seems i can actually use My Nintendo right now, thats odd. Pleasent Surprise, means i can go ahead and buy Hyrule Warriors Legends right now!
It's a shame I've spent over €24 on Fire Emblem Awakening DLC and I'm not getting any points at all.
@crazyj2312 so that's why I got random points, haha
MUST GET ZELDA PICROSS!!
I have spent hundreds on downloadable games and content over the last 4 years and I am not going to get rewarded for it.
I need 1000 platinum for Zelda picross!!
Wow that's a lot of not much of interest for me. Not a picross fan, and all the other games/discounts I own it if I wanted it already. Well feel better that you won't be rewarded for physical purchases now. I'm sure the rewards will change, but outside of Zelda for those who want it, it's just a bunch of the same games we see over and over.
@AlmightyDerek how can you make it ! I live in Kuwait ... I don't think it will available anytime soon .. I use iPhone .. How can I make it work for me ? Proxy ? ... Help please
This is neat, my favorite franchise is The Legend of Zelda and it offered some Zelda games with 15% off that was not mentioned. This truly is "just for you"
I'm pretty sure either the North American options are worse or the "Just For You" options have randomized prices;
I have a 30% Discount on Splatoon that costs 140 coins compared to the 40% discount for 100 coins you have listed... ugh...
Awesome! Hopefully I can get Super Mario 64 eventually.
@AlexMurphy You can google miitomo apk. Although it's now live on google play so you can just do that too.
I noticed Metroid other M was not 50% of as earlier Wii games was at launch. Did they stop that before?
@gsplatinumdp And you won't. DLC does not give you any points at all. Thank Nintendo.
So, I am a little confused, I looked at some of the stuff and i see it shows a picture of both platinum points and Mitomo points and it is something for Miitomo... but yet it says it costs... platinum points? i don't see anything that costs Mitomo points really.... unless it takes the miitomo points before it takes platinum.
@Big_Gamer Yes, Nintendo stopped doing that nice thing.
I love how the site isn't optimized for the iPad. Looks pretty bad in it's current state, it doesn't even improve by changing screen orientation.
Cool I can start buying e-shop games again
@VanillaLake darn. oh well, the good ones will still be worth full price
Do I -have- to redeem that 'Point Box'? The My Nintendo page really wants me to.
@Moon I have the same question. Do I have to spend 50 coins on that My Nintendo coin box? What kind of reward is that?
So far this is underwhelming...free or not.
@Azikira IT'S A TRAP!!!
@Big_Gamer Or you can always buy cheap Wii discs if you like.
@VanillaLake yeah, thats also an option
@bezerker99 What is the point box?
@Big_Gamer I buy physical games on Wii U/Wii because they are cheaper and there's only 32GB built-in.
@VanillaLake yeah, but nowadays I prefer digital since I dont need to change disc all the time and I have an external HDD.
@VanillaLake I don't know. I haven't redeemed my coins for that reward. I was hoping someone else here might have 'taken the plunge' and gotten it. I have no idea what it is or does or if it's even worth the 50 coins.
I really hope they add some sort of system like achievements and trophies like xbox and playstation have
@bezerker99 as far as I can tell, its just a box with your coins in it. purely decorative
@Big_Gamer Yeah, but I'm saving physical space around the TV, too! I understand you though, because I could not resist to digital on 3DS since day one.
@bezerker99 @VanillaLake LITERALLY NOTHING!! You just get three boxes at the top of the screen that show you how much coins you have, WHEN THERE WAS ALREADY BOXES AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN SHOWING YOU THAT!! UHG IM PISSED OFF!! You literally can't do anything else until you buy that stupid box though, so basically it was a way to screw people out of 50 Plat. Coins for NO REASON.
@Big_Gamer That's what it seemed like to me. THANKS!!!
Stinks that I already have all of the non-Miitomo rewards on their site. I could still be tempted by a few, like Mario Kart 8 at a discount, but it's not an option.
@bezerker99 LOL I am wondering what are those game tickets. I can't download Miitomo because as far as I know, it's not available on Windows mobile.
@Azikira lol, dang that sucks man.
I will probably end up getting the box because....from glancing at the rewards list....I don't have much to spend my coins on .
The only games I don't have listed there are Yoshi's Wooly World, Splatoon, and WarioWare: Touched.
Zelda Picross is about the only highlight for me. Oh well, at least there's Miitomo to play around with today.
@Azikira Sorry man! Don't trust Nintendo! LOL Better save for some DLC or game.
@Azikira What box are you talking about?
@ikki5 A stupid box that replaces the original one. Worthless.
@VanillaLake @Azikira I don't even see a box though...
Edit
I decided to do a google search and i see what you mean. I have those boxes already, I figured that is what it was originally as I don't remember redeeming that. Now, if I did, I don't care too much, I currently have 850 coins between the miitomo and platinum and considering how it seems miitomo coins will also act as platinum... it's not that bad. Even more so that these coins are free anyway.
I'm a bit confused as to why some things are only available with Platinum and some with Gold - I mean they're all game discounts, right?
@Sean_Aaron The gold ones are earned by spending money, if you notice you get bigger discounts and you can earn full games (more often). it makes sense really since the platinum and miitomo tokens you earn for free.
@VanillaLake I am not too familiar with Windows phones. That's unfortunate that Miitomo isn't available on it.
I don't see Pullblox World on the North American My Nintendo rewards page. I understand why Other M isn't listed (not released yet here) but Pullblox is something that actually interests me. Hopefully it will be added at some point in the near future.
@ikki5 I guess, it just seems a bit arbitrary is all. I mean it would have made more sense to me to restrict the kind of reward to one currency or another, that was if you were mainly interested in game discounts you could focus on gold missions or whatever.
@VanillaLake Surely the work around for that would be to buy credit first and then use that to buy DLC?
@Azikira I think making us redeem 50 coins for the Coin Box is Nintendo's way of showing us how to redeem our coins for rewards.
Think I might be good not bothering with this. I'm annoyed just going through the site.
The lack of consistent colour-coding is really annoying. They have some rewards which have clear backgrounds indicating platinum or gold coins apply, but most don't: just arbitrary backgrounds or none at all. Not helpful! How about something simple like a section headed Platinum Rewards and one headed Gold Rewards?
At the end of the day, just different design and weird 3-way point system to make sure you wont be getting anything really for free ... anyway, thats Nintendo. If they needed that long to come up with a software like "Miitomo" (very underwhelming so far), it will probably take another year until it has any valuable functions. Great I can enter my favorite food and another "friend" can guess it right and get useless points... really great, in case I get bored I can spend real money to "dress" my Mii...amazing, Im sure the target audience between 5 and 15 might love it due to their parents creditcard but how about they actually release some real interactivity software. This whole point collecting stuff is even worse than the old one (right now at least) - you are forced to spend money on overpriced e-Shop titles... another thumbs up.
Bahh... well, not that anyone expected them to actually offer a real "Online Nintendo World" - where everyone can interact, they released this... good start, especially limiting already the amount of friends. Funny but expected.
There is a easteregg in My Nintendo home page. Scroll down and click the brown block in the corner.
@Mikke awesome, thanks for the info
@Sean_Aaron Yes, the "platinum" points should be called silver here.
@Big_Gamer @bezerker99 @vanillalake Actually, it seems like you'll get your points back for buying the point box, in plentiful.
I got 30 points for clicking on some loose coins outside the box, and it's marked with "Weekly" in the point-history, so I guess you could get 30 points a week if you have the box. If I'm not mistaken.
@Sean_Aaron No, today I added €30 because I didn't want to add my credit card details 25 times for buying the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC and I don't want Nintendo to store it either. I have downloaded all the DLC and I just checked My Nintendo and my gold points are... ZERO. Thank you, Nintendo.
@bezerker99 Actually, I think I completed that tutorial the first time and every step was highlighted so I didn't know exactly what was going on. I am certain that I'm not the only one who has spent coins on that silly thing and didn't realise! That would explain ikki5's question not seeing that option, he already clicked on it. :S
EDIT: And if it's true you get that coins back that would further explains why nobody realised!
anyone know whether redeeming a download code from amazon gives you those gold points?
@feelinsupersonic I'm not sure but I'd say yes, because it's the same as directly purchasing the game on the eShop but probably cheaper buying the code on Amazon.
Don't be in a rush to log in. Any coins collected today will expire September 30th. Coins collected any day in April will expire October 31st. Wait until tomorrow.
The "Just for Me" rewards is offering games that I already own digitally.. sigh
@Monkey_Balls Thanks for the advice, then I will wait till tomorrow before I make any new purchases.
This really shows how silly the expiration date for points are.
@ThomasBW84 might be too much to ask, but i do think it's important information. can you find out whether redeeming a download code from amazon gives you those gold points? thanks.
@BF-Medic I did not even know that points expire. Isn't it enough annoyance that the rewards expire in a just a few months? Also the points?
Stupid you have to buy that box just to get coins, why is this even a thing? Also stupid "just for you" is everything I already own.
Here is a nice comedy of the so called "discounts". So when you collect your "points" you are e.g. entitled to swap them for a 20% discount on the digital copy of SUPER MARIO KART 7
Funny, it costs 44.99 (!) Euro in the E-Shop (hahah), while you can buy it regularly from Amazon or any reputable shopping platform (online or offline, like even Mediamarkt) for 37.99 - a physical copy with box, which you can also sell off. 20% of 44.99 is around 8.99.
So in the best case scenario you are saving 2 euro, after COLLECTING point and spending time doing so, cause the 20% are based on fantasy (why is Nintendo even doing this? For parents it looks like fooling kids) and on top, your digital copy cant be sold. Why the digital is more expensive than retail is another mystery but continuing to run this scams by offering discounts on overpriced digital stuff is the same old ... no matter how many more colors they add.
The other "discounts" like Super Mario 3D, you have to first spend real money on overpriced titles to collect points to get a discount .. hahaha... amazing. Some trade commission should look into this and fine them for ripping off kids as most wont notice i guess.
3 thumbs down, Nintendo.
@Dankykong As I mentioned above, it looks like buying the box will actually grant you possible more weekly points. So at least that bit is not so stupid.
@feelinsupersonic We can try and find out.
I gotta say I like the layout so far. Basically the discounts and games act more like a bonus to your regular purchases, rather then another way to just buy them. It's mainly for the casual or people who are just catching up with Nintendo rather then the rest of us who've been buying and playing these since they came up. Although I do wish the discount was across the entire eshop rather then specific title. I already have all those game (And I bought them at full price...) so a 40% coupon on everything but newly released games would be a better incentive for both old players and Newcomers so we all would have options.
@VanillaLake Well that is crap. The rewards just say "spend this amount in the eShop" so you'd think NINTENDO GETTING OUR MONEY would be enough. I have to hope this is a bug. I mean I regularly put £20 credit on there rather than process separate transactions for games and DLC. If they're only tracking game purchases that seems just as arbitrary as having two classes of points with overlapping rewards.
@BF-Medic Probably...
@Sean_Aaron I know, it doesn't make any sense. Sometimes DLC is more expensive than the game itself. On Fire Emblem Awakening it is €48.91 (discounted price is €24.41) and Super Smash Bros. DLC total price is a fortune (over €136 on Wii U only!). It's scandalous that Nintendo is not giving any rewards for that.
Glad to know my downloading of Resident Evil: Revelations for $4.99 earlier in the week wouldn't have netted me any My Nintendo points today!
just following up, the second paragraph from nintendo's faq seems to contain the answer:
There are many ways to earn My Nintendo points:
Complete missions on My Nintendo to earn Platinum Points. For some missions, you will need to select "Collect points" to receive your points after completing the mission. In these cases, you will have 30 days in which to collect your points after completing the mission. For a current list of active missions, click here.
To earn Gold Points, you must first link a Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account. Next, use your Nintendo Network ID to purchase downloadable games through the official Nintendo homepage, Nintendo eShop, or through a retailer. You will automatically receive Gold Points for any eligible purchases. (Please note that downloadable content, passes, and themes, as well as physical software, do not qualify for Gold Points.)
Redeem a My Nintendo point code. From time to time, Nintendo will distribute point codes that can be redeemed for My Nintendo points. If you have received a point code, click here to redeem it. The points will appear on the points history page of the My Nintendo website when signed in to your Nintendo Account.
I just wish we could get coins for buying physical copies of full retail releases.
i wonder whether clever third parties will start pricing their games at $10 instead of $9.99 to give the buyer 10 extra coins. the only game i've ever seen priced at a natural number is 1001 spikes.
Honestly the exchange rate and current selection is a little sloppy not to mention the lack of missions. I hope they fix these problems soon, otherwise, people will just miss Club Nintendo even more.
Wait a minute!
I just noticed that to earn Gold Coins you need to purchase a game between "x-y" price.... but Nes and Snes Virtual Console games are cheaper than that...
So even if I buy 2, 3 or more I won't get any reward? That sucks if true!
Edit: OK, forget about Snes games, I think those give points, but still not sure about Nes games. I think is the same in the USA
@Mario_Fart The FAQ says you can unlink an NNID at any time provided the My Nintendo account is linked to something else. Hopefully that means you can use both (but not simultaneously of course) and having to remember switch NNID on My Nintendo before buying something to earn the coins might be a bit annoying, still.
@Starwolf_UK Thanks for that. I'd upgrade to New 3DS but might as well wait for an announcement about the NX at this point.
I'm fed up.
nintendo have done it as anybody else. You got 10 gold point 5-9,99 €. 20, if is't 10€ or more.
They make an action price for a game... And gues the price...
Yup, 9,99 so you will get on 10 points. One cent plus and you will have another 10 gold points.
Shame Ninty, shame ((
Got the Pikmin 3 DLC. Hope they release the rest of the DLC packs.
@feelinsupersonic So I was right.
@Koapa Then Nintendo should round them off. Besides, 9.99 is just marketing for making people believe something is cheaper than it is. But when I see 9.99, it's 10 for me.
I dont really like the rewards system.
Having two different kinds of points and two different reward systems related to them is a little bit confusing, points vanishing after a six months period is stupid - its only designed to make people buy more and spend more money (I know nintendo is a business). I think a two year option would be fair.
The rewards are a little bit pointless IMHO. Lets be honest, most nintendo fans own most of the games already be it physical or digital (I do). Then, there arent actually too many games that are really worth buying IMHO. Take the wii u for example, how many games am I going to buy this year? Probably three, the star fox zero first print edition (will get me star fox guard in a physical version), paper mario and hopefully zelda U, all of which I am going to get physical. That leaves virtual console games to get me points, I have already bought most vc games that I was interested in, that was in between the rewards system. Mynintendo does no backtracking here
IMHO the old nintendo club was far better - it was really neat to get some physical collectors items. But I guess this is all due to the new digital era that we live in. Its much cheaper for nintendo to maintain a digital only rewards system rather than to print cards with nintendo points and put them into gaming cases - and of course have physical reward items produced, stored and shipped.
Definitely not to my liking this whole new thing...
@Andrzej777 I agree - this version of a "rewards"-system is rotten. Since these rewards and points are virtually just a way to waste your time without "benefiting" from it (amazing discount offers, they should advertise them for blind people), its funny that e.g. signing up with some videogame vendors like gamestop.com and ordering your physical copies will get you more rewards (through the loyality program) than this joke of a "Nintendo Club".
Bottom line, at least for me, Nintendo has gone ruthless trying to trick people with an even weirder scheme and especially regarding kids its easier to steal from. With no physical goodies/collectors items available, im sure even your local walmart will reward you better buying Nintendo products with its loyality program than this - cause you actually receive something.
A shame, but somehow Im not surprised... Nintendo is all about smiles & colors, but behind the scenes it seems to be sociophatic and dark.
@samuelvictor You would probably have been eligible for one full price title, but the surveys you would have had to complete would have pushed you over the edge first. This new system is far more generous.
Just tried to boot up Miitomo on my MotoXP and NV Shield .... just to have both of them crash. I was quite irritated for a moment, since that never happend to me before, so I quickly googled the issue, only to find out that apparently the app is crashing on purpose, because - wait for it - it is supposed to crash on rooted device.
I had a good laugh, tears of joy and all, and deleted the app and was done with it. It's so comforting to see Nintendo to stick to it's ultraorthodox NannyState-philosophy even with their debut on Android and iOS. It certainly boggles the mind, and sure, it's gonna cost them ratings and users, and all of that, but yeah, like I said, it's also comforting to see even if they really would like to change and go with the times, they simply cannot: Babysteps at best.
I'll check back with them in another decade or so
I actually like it so far... Though that may be because I already have almost 700 coins...
I am mostly pissed that I can't get retroactively anything out of My Nintendo, since Finland was for reasons unknown never part of Club Nintendo officially, I got no benefits for digitally bought games.
Also I was such a stupid guy that I went and bought Starfox 64 last week on Virtual Console. Only after buying the game I realized that I don't get anything from My Nintendo, but now people who buy it from yesterday onwards get all the benefits. Really annoying.
Also, did you guys notice that there is in the menu a Redeem a point code section. This very likely is the thing that comes in the future latest with NX, hopefully with also this year's Wii U and 3DS games, meaning the physical games points cards like in the old Club Nintendo system.
Is there already the possibility in the browser web eshop to buy games in a shopping cart so you can buy many at the same time?
Otherwise the gold points system is stupid because of the way the price ranges have been put. A game with a price of 9.99 should give you 20 gold points and not 10. One cent cheat.
And I really hope they start making more missions to be done, I already did all mine and since because of Nintendo's decision I don't have Miitomo in Finland etc. then there is no way to get more. Next week I can only get 60 points more because of the weekly things. Since the points disappear after six months for some weird reason, then it will take forever to get points for Zelda Picross and/or Warioware Touched on 3DS.
I can only get 1560 more platinum points in six months unless they make many many more missions.
@improviser
I was hoping the same since I never got to be part of the real Club Nintendo. I have over 50 eShop games bought and I kind of hope now that I had not bought any of those since there is no retrospective way of getting the gold points.
@AlexMurphy
Unfortunately so!
And here comes THAT comments section.
"Why buy digital, there's no benefit."
"Try My Nintendo! You can spend and get discounts and free games on digital purchases and activities."
"I don't buy digital, how can I get all the benefits and none of the sacrifices?"
Nintendo.
Worst. Fans. Ever.
@ReshiramZekrom I've had a few DS games downloaded into my 3DS for a long long time now. Dragon Quest Wars, Mario and Donkey Kong, there are a bunch that you can download into the 3DS. Always has been. Shantae Risky's Revenge - the list goes on and on.
@vitalemrecords Those are all DSiWare games m8
@NodesforNoids
"Worst. Fans. Ever."
If you like throwing away money why dont you donate it to a good cause instead? If you would have followed the comments, this is not about bashing the games, its about Nintendo ripping off their clients even more. I assume you do have mathematics in your school, so do the math instead of trolling convincing kids to get the "great discounts". Rather tell them where to buy it cheaper and YES own a physical copy cause your digital one is worth zero.
Time will tell, but right now your contribution seems like a paid-response by Nintendo, well done.
what do they mean by "warioware touched for 3DS? did they actually make it some kind of downloadable software? like how would it run, like a normal DS cartridge or like a virtual console game?
@Mr-X9000 it runs as if you're playing a cartridge.
@AlexMurphy warioware uses platinum coins and they are free just do some little things here and there. I used mine for warioware and im already halfway to another 1000 coins. But yeah the gold coins are a rip off.
