Re: Feature: Eevee x Tamagotchi Is A Surprisingly Resilient Virtual Pet For A New Generation

DarthFoxMcCloud

@Zelda1433 If you hit the C button (far right) and then quickly the A button (far left), you will get a menu to turn on and off sound. It's in Japanese but the top option is "on" while the bottom option is "off."

Fun fact: If you leave the screen on the Clock setup screen (Hit the B button, or middle button, followed by the same button combination for the sound as noted above) you will get to the Clock setup screen. Leave the numbers blinking and your Tamagotchi is effectively paused and will stay in that state until you reset the time. This is great if you're at work and just don't want any beeps but also don't want your Tama to die because you can't look after it!

Re: Feature: Eevee x Tamagotchi Is A Surprisingly Resilient Virtual Pet For A New Generation

I imported one from Japan. I love it. However some of the guides I've been following haven't worked. For example, I tried to get an Umbreon after replacing my batteries. According to the internet, I was to only feed candies during the nighttime hours (which is basically just 7-8pm and then it goes to bed when it's just an Eevee). I did this but I ended up with Sylveon. Speaking of longevity though, on my first round of batteries I had the Flower Eevee and it lasted 3 months without "dying" (returning to it's pokeball). The only reason I lost Flower Eevee was because the batteries died. LOL. It's next to impossible to kill an Eevee!

Re: Video: Detective Pikachu Movie Cast Plays 'Who's That Pokémon?'

DarthFoxMcCloud

Cute!!!!! Also, way to go to Justice Smith for getting Clefairy! All in all though, they were pretty easy. I'm great at the Who's The Pokemon silhouettes as long as it's the original 151, and a few Johto. But the moment we start getting in to gen 3 and above, it gets tricky for me (even though I've played all the mainline games). LOL. Given that Kanto was my origin games, they hold a special place in my heart!

Re: Feature: 10 Things We'd Like To See In Animal Crossing On The Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

Also on the amiibo side of things. I hope they also use the card amiibo to allow you to summon the character to your town just like New Leaf was able to do after that update. Too often, characters I like move away even after I dote on them to the point of absurdity. So it would be nice even if they leave to be able to force them back to live in my town with amiibo functionality (I know that's very Misery-esque but I don't care, LOL)!

Re: Feature: 10 Things We'd Like To See In Animal Crossing On The Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

Everything on this list needs to happen!!! Additionally, one of the things I loved about New Leaf on 3DS was the ability to send letters to friends. What I hated though was they had to be online at the same time and have their town gates open. What I'd like to see is the ability to visit one's own post office in their own town and send letters (with or without presents attached) to friends on our Friend List. We already have to exchange friend codes for the Switch, let's put it to use. You send the letter from your own post office and it winds up in their mailbox the next time they connect open up the game while connected to the internet. Would be a fun way to keep in touch, especially with friends who live far away, and to organize getting together in-game for events and such.

Re: Nintendo Has “Nothing New” To Announce For 3DS In Terms Of First-Party Game Releases

DarthFoxMcCloud

@Jango296 I agree. Nintendo missed a golden opportunity to keep StreetPass functioning. The thing is, they could keep it going on Switch with just a simple firmware update. There's no new hardware that needs to be released. It's purely software. While the SpotPass hotspots at Best Buy and airports and whatnot seem to have all been deactivated, that doesn't mean Nintendo should abandon it. Flick the switch, activate StreetPass and let us connect with others who have the system in their bags! So many people on transit have their Switches with them, or in the parks.

Re: Switch Online Mobile App Receives An Incredibly Minor Update

DarthFoxMcCloud

I hope the bug fix in the iOS version is the ability to keep my AirPods connected to voice chat even if I get a text message on my phone. It seems now when I get a text message and I respond to it directly from the push notification while still inside the Nintendo Switch app, my voice chat through my AirPods gets disconnected and re-routed to my phone's speakerphone. It's so annoying. The only way currently to get the voice chat back on to my AirPods is to shut down the NSO app and restart it and then reconnect to the voice chat (such an annoyance especially during intense pro-level Salmon Runs on Splatoon 2). This wasn't an issue before Nintendo pushed an update to the app a few week ago so it's definitely a Nintendo problem, not an Apple one.

Re: Rumour: "Cheaper Version Of The Switch" Expected To Launch By The End Of June

DarthFoxMcCloud

I love my existing Switch. I'd prefer fixes to the Joy Con sticks over anything at this point, they keep getting messed up after long periods of use. I have the Splatoon Joy Con & the left one is totally unusable because the left stick, even though it's in "neutral" position, I notice my character on screen is moving on its own without any input from me. It's very annoying so I hope Nintendo fixes the Joy Con durability first and then any Pro unit becomes a true successor to the current Switch, with backwards compatibility!

Re: Splatoon 2 To Receive Update Tomorrow According to Japanese Twitter

DarthFoxMcCloud

I just wish Nintendo would keep running Splatfests indefinitely each month or bi-monthly. I know it's currently scheduled to stop the practice (just like it did for the Wii U original) but I really hope they change their mind. It doesn't take that much effort and the Splatfests receive a lot of participation from almost all owners of the game. The appetite is there!

Re: Here's A Look At The Fire Emblem: Three Houses Limited Edition

DarthFoxMcCloud

Amazon Canada just put this up for pre-order yesterday. I secured one and then before I could share the link with friends, it had sold out. Glad I got mine but wow I wish Nintendo would make more than just 5 of these per country. Also I'm jealous Europe is getting the music on a USB stick, would have preferred that over a CD. Additionally I would have preferred the pin badges over the calendar. Calendars have a finite shelf-life and after 2020, this calendar will be useless.

Re: Don't Expect A Saturn Mini Anytime Soon, Says Sega

DarthFoxMcCloud

While not a huge Sega fan, I would like to see Dreamcast get the "Mini" treatment. I think that system had such untapped potential but it had a lot of great games in its short life-span. Also, I did own a Game Gear back in the day and would like to have seen some kind of re-visit to that system (but maybe make it a software compilation release similar to the Switch release Sega Genesis Classics).

Re: Guide: Where To Pre-Order Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Mini

DarthFoxMcCloud

The more I think about this, the less I want it. I loved the Genesis back in the day but $99.99 CDN plus tax for just the 3 button controller (in North America) and only 40 games? I don't know, I was able to justify the price for the NES and SNES Classics but I guess that's because I've always been more of a Nintendo gamer, plus I hacked the SNES Classic and got pretty much every game made for the machine added to it (still with memory storage to spare...seriously Nintendo didn't utilize the storage to its fullest capacity). With the Genesis, I can get the Sega Genesis Classics game off the eShop for $39.99 CDN (and sometimes I've seen it go on sale) and get 50 games, plus the convenience of playing it literally anywhere. I think that might be better bang for my good ol' Canadian Loonie!

Re: Microsoft Asked The Studio Behind Cuphead To Bring The Game To Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just Microsoft's last-ditch effort to get simple brand recognition in Japan. XBOX sales in that country are always abysmal. Phil Spencer is probably just like, if we can't get them playing on our consoles this generation, get them to play our games on Nintendo and get the Japanese hooked on the services so that way by the time the next XBOX launches, it stands a chance at actual sales then. Just my theory but seems to make sense.

Re: As Cloud Gaming Steals Headlines, Nintendo's Latest Japanese Ads Highlight The Strength Of Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

Great advertisements. I hope Nintendo starts something like this for their North American & European advertisements. The versatility of Nintendo Switch and the fact you can play it literally anywhere is incredibly appealing. Also, I'm not a fan of the all-digital, all-online that game companies are trying to push on us. The games aren't "yours" and you're tethered to an active internet connection to make them work. So what happens in a power outage? No gaming for you. But on Nintendo Switch, you can play as long as the battery doesn't run out (and even then you can plug it in to an external battery if you have one). You can play on public transit where internet signals might be weak or non-existent. You have CHOICE of digital and physical. And you're not at the mercy of a signal disruption. There are a lot of unforeseen issues going to an all-digital, always-connected future and I think people will be in for a rude awakening when the gaming industry becomes solely reliant on it.

Re: A Splatoon 2 Demo Has Just Launched On Switch, Includes Free Online Trial And Money Off Full Game

DarthFoxMcCloud

I hope Nintendo re-thinks their current plan and continue holding monthly Splatfests for many more years. Currently, Splatfests are set to end this year but I have to say, they're always so popular and it's a huge part of the Splatoon community. I don't see why Nintendo can't keep hosting them, the resources that go in to holding one are minuscule at best. If they can't be monthly, then at least bi-monthly. It's a mistake to cancel Splatfests. When they made that decision for the original, it really affected how many people played the game on Wii U, the numbers dropped significantly.

Re: SNES Style RPG Chained Echoes Reaches Nintendo Switch Stretch Goal

DarthFoxMcCloud

Looks interesting. I'm not going to back it though. I backed this game called Indivisible because it looked cool and they're still nowhere near releasing, even though all the blogs that have come out seemed to point to a release that should have happened already but I never got a copy. So yeah never gonna Kickstart again, just feels like too much of a risk. I'll wait to get this game when it actually releases.

Re: Media Create Boss Says Switch Will Have A Seven Year Life Cycle, Sales To Grow In Third Year

DarthFoxMcCloud

In 7 years time, I hope we are still playing on dedicated consoles (I'm sorry, I love my iPhone and iPad, but they SUCK as sole gaming machines....I'm not interested in touch-only future or attaching bulky weird peripherals). I also don't want 100% digital only. I like owning a hard copy of a game (both to display on my shelf and to have the option of selling it or trading it in for another game if I choose to). I like having digital for some games like Animal Crossing which make sense to have an always-on option but I don't want all my games to solely be digital. Also, think of the economic impact. Think of all the other stores that will close and all the people that will lose their jobs if we go 100% digital. And forget about finding those lost gem games at the bottom of a discount bin. And I don't want to stream 100% of my games. Again this comes down to me wanting to OWN my games, and not be at the whim of a company who can take the game away whenever they want. Also not everywhere has great internet infrastructure. Canada might have good coverage in our urban areas but we also have vast rural and remote regions where fast internet hasn't penetrated to yet and we also have the most expensive internet of the G8 countries. It's not feasible to eat up all our bandwidth playing games. And we still don't have powerful enough connections to maintain constant frame rates. I know this is where those no-nothing Wall Street analysts want us to go to but come on, it's just not feasible and I would argue that most true gamers don't want that future. A mix of everything is fine, choice is always good. But I don't want 100% streaming only, 100% digital only, or 100% gaming on a smart device. No thank you. Not the future I want.

Re: Random: Here's What The Game Boy Might Look Like If It Was Designed Today

DarthFoxMcCloud

It's a cool design but I still would prefer a classic D-Pad. I hope Nintendo releases a Game Boy Classic. I'm sure the N64 one won't happen and the GB games did stand the test of time a lot better than the N64 anyway, as evidenced by the great games of the 8-bit and 16-bit eras on the NES/SNES Classics. Game Boy nostalgia is high and it would be great if Nintendo did this. That said, I'd want more than just 20-30 games on it. The GB library is HUGE. I'd love a lot of variety of first and third party games. Hopefully Nintendo could make that happen if they ever did release one.

Re: Random: Lovely Couple Gets Wedding Photos Taken In Video Game Store

DarthFoxMcCloud

I met my gaymer husband through a gaming group we have in my local city. A group of us would meet up every weekend and play 3DS because it started as a way to get StreetPass tags and then as more games got released (Mario Kart 7 was HUGE with us), we started turning it in to a weekly gaming afternoon. Then it expanded in to putting on house parties and BBQs at the beach. It was at this BBQ, 6 years ago, that I met the love of my life and my Forever Player 2!!! So yes, video games (and specifically Nintendo) can bring people together!
