Re: Best Game Boy Advance RPGs

DarthFoxMcCloud

Golden Sun 1 and 2 are still some of my all-time favourite RPGs. I wish the series would be revisited or re-made for Switch. The DS 3rd game was ok but wasn't as great as the GBA originals.

Re: Memory Pak: Taking My First Starter Pokémon All The Way To The Elite Four

DarthFoxMcCloud

This was such a lovely read and totally was my experience too! I did have a Game Boy Color and played Pokemon Red and Yellow versions but I never owned Gold and Silver. I didn't actually end up playing Gold until HeartGold released on the Nintendo DS. And I too discovered that Kanto was included in the game, and then learning how Iwata was responsible for getting that on the original game as well. It was such a mind-blowing moment and just deepened my love for Iwata. I also agree that no Pokemon game really has captured my love for the series quite like the originals (HeartGold and SoulSilver included in that because they were BEAUTIFUL recreations). These early games had such soul in them that seems to be lacking in Sword and Shield. I actually prefer Let's Go Pikachu but that's again likely nostalgia and just another example of an original game being beautifully recreated. I have a lot of hope for Pokemon Arceus that it will recapture the mystery and magic that the early Pokemon games had!

Re: Sinnoh Confirmed: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Officially Announced For Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

I'm excited for this and will end up playing it. I played Diamond back on the DS so I'll go with Shining Pearl this time around. That said I would have liked a Let's Go version with the Pokemon out and about in the wild, making shiny chaining much easier. Also use of the Pokeball Plus and Pokemon GO integration. What they went with is something very similar to Link's Awakening on Switch, while still beautiful to look at it's not exactly what I wanted. But nobody will ever be truly happy with anything. I'll still play this and I'll still try to catch em all!

Re: 'Pokémon Presents' Live Presentation Announced For Tomorrow, 26th February

DarthFoxMcCloud

@StardusterEX Yeah I imported one! I absolutely love that thing. My favourite sprite on it is Umbreon! The only Eevee evolution I haven't evolved on there is Espeon, I really should try for that! HAHA! But yeah it would be nice if Pokemon did another one for the 25th anniversary, like how Digimon released the classic v-pets for their 20th anniversary a couple years back. I'm just a nostalgic 30-something wanting to relive the 90s HAHA. I know it won't happen. Fun to dream though.

Re: 'Pokémon Presents' Live Presentation Announced For Tomorrow, 26th February

DarthFoxMcCloud

This might be because I started recently getting back in to Digimon with the 20th anniversary Vpets that came out a couple years ago now, but I think it would be totally awesome if Nintendo and Pokemon Company decided to put out a 25th anniversary line of Pokemon Vpets that could also let you raise Pokemon and battle them with friends. Yeah sure it's a knockoff of Digimon but it's honestly something I am surprised Pokemon has really never done. I mean the Pocket Pikachu was a different animal entirely and so was the Pokewalker. I know it won't happen but it would be cool if they did do it.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

DarthFoxMcCloud

@benchan I want a Switch release of Windwaker HD so bad. Mostly so I can finally complete the Nintendo Gallery. I tried on Wii U but I was relying on Miiverse to get the photos of characters I had missed early on in the game and I really don't want to restart the file from scratch. Plus, I just can't get back in to using the GamePad....it's too bulky.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

DarthFoxMcCloud

Pretty solid Nintendo Direct. There's only a couple games I'm really keen on getting though, which is probably good for my wallet. Can't wait for Mario Golf (been a fan since the N64 and GBC originals), Skyward Sword HD (I never actually finished it back on Wii), really want those Zelda Joy Con (hope Nintendo makes enough to satisfy demand), and I'm still hopeful for a Legend of Zelda 3D All-Stars release similar to Mario's. I am also interested in trying out the demo for Project Triangle Strategy and I will eventually get Bravely Default II but not at launch, since Square games usually go on sale a few months after release.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Bravely Default II

DarthFoxMcCloud

I'm actually kind of surprised there is no special edition release for this game. The first two games plus Octopath Traveller all had collector's editions. Maybe because this game isn't made by Square Enix themselves? It's just weird they haven't announced anything yet and release is right around the corner.

Re: Limited-Time Pokémon Sword And Shield Distribution Offers Players A Rare Evolution Item

DarthFoxMcCloud

Well guess I missed this. Too bad Game Freak and Nintendo don't seem to offer any kind of notifications on the Switch in any real way. Yeah there's the News app but that's always super slow on any kind of update and frankly it's not that helpful. Would have been nice if this popped up on the startup screen to remind me because I was on the Switch briefly checking my ACNH Festivale items.

Re: Capcom Reveals The Most Used Weapon In The Monster Hunter Rise Demo

DarthFoxMcCloud

I tried the demo a lot because this is a series I've always wanted to get in to but always felt too daunting to try. I got to say, I just don't get it. There were so many button combinations to memorize, none of the weapons seemed to actually do any damage on the "BEGINNER" quest and the only thing I was able to actually have any success with was the tutorial. Maybe Monster Hunter just isn't a series for me.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Overtakes Mario Kart Wii As Best-Selling Series Entry

DarthFoxMcCloud

I wish Nintendo would release more DLC courses (new and revamped classic courses) for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I feel like the Switch doesn't need a sequel. Enough people own the console and this game that another round of paid DLC would be way more preferential. MK8D is already one of the best looking and controlled games on the Switch so just give us more content and then when the Switch gets a proper successor then we can have a new Mario Kart game.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For February And March 2021

DarthFoxMcCloud

Been playing the Monster Hunter Rise demo but it's not my cup of tea. Really excited to dive back in with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. I might give the Bravely Default 2 demo a chance. I enjoyed the 3DS original. But I think the highlight for me will be the Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. I already have the premium version pre-ordered (looking forward to that bull plush) and I am super excited they've added sprinklers to the game which is something I really missed in Friends of Mineral Town having played Stardew Valley first.

Re: Harvest Moon And Story Of Seasons Battle It Out For Cutest Pre-Order Plush

DarthFoxMcCloud

I like the chicken but I prefer Story of Seasons so I pre-ordered that premium edition so I could get that still cute Bull plush! For fellow Canadians on here, preorders are up on EB Games website with online delivery & Pickup in Store options available! I'm so happy the trailer showed off sprinklers. I really don't like the having to get the elves or whatever they are in FOMT to water my garden 7 days at a time.

Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd December (North America)

DarthFoxMcCloud

I got a copy of Fire Emblem 30th Anniversary physical edition pre-ordered and ready for pickup tomorrow at EB Games. I was really nervous I was going to miss out on this because it was so difficult to get a pre-order online anywhere else, copies sold out in seconds. I played the DS remake but I'm excited to have this game in its original NES art style and with all those physical edition bonuses! Now if only they'd make some more games in the Advance Wars series. I love me some Fire Emblem, but I'd LOVE to have a new Advance Wars.

Re: Feature: Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games

DarthFoxMcCloud

There are so many games on this list (mostly from Square) that I wish would end up on the Super Nintendo app for Nintendo Switch Online. Seriously would love an easier way to play the original Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG that Nintendo Switch Online affords.

Re: Capcom Has "No Plans" Right Now To Bring The Original Monster Hunter Stories To Switch

DarthFoxMcCloud

I'm ok with this, I already have the original on 3DS and it's still super easy for people to buy digitally off the 3DS eShop if they really want it. Given how large the 3DS install base is, and the fact that cheap 2DS' are still being sold in stores, the original isn't an impossible game for people to play if they really want to. Or just start fresh with this Switch sequel as the article suggests.

Re: Review: Rune Factory 4 Special - The Definitive Version Of A Series Classic

DarthFoxMcCloud

@Phon Doesn't matter. More than enough games to play. I don't need yet another life-sim style game in my collection that forbids me for playing how I want. Times are changing and it's pretty unacceptable nowadays to not have LGBTQ relationships represented. I understand older games might not get those ported in (yet Story of Seasons: FOMT remake got the addition of these relationships when the game was brought to Steam and Switch) but I'm hopeful that a new game like Rune Factory 5 will have the option baked in to the game at launch! Until then, I'll stick with Stardew Valley.

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

DarthFoxMcCloud

Absolutely loved 3DS. I made some of my most long-lasting friendships because of the StreetPass feature (something that I wish Nintendo had kept on the Switch & could be easily brought to the system through a firmware update). I forgot about its AR feature but it's funny just how early Nintendo was to that and only now smartphone manufacturers are jumping onboard with AR in a big way. The games on this system were classic but the system itself was also home to classic games getting new life (through Virtual Console - another service I wish Nintendo had brought over and invested heavily in to on Switch to better fill out that library....or at least give us more regular updates to classic games on Switch Online). I still play my 3DS to this day and for anybody who's still interested in picking one up, don't bother turning to eBay. Retailers still have ample supply of new 3DS and 2DS systems, many bundled with games as well. Perfect especially as many of us who were buying 3DS' in our college years now have kids or nieces/nephews of our own who are now old enough to get in to amazing gaming that only Nintendo with dedicated portable gaming hardware can deliver.
