Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

DarthFoxMcCloud

It will be interesting to know what the digital download numbers were. But I already own this game on Wii U and the co-op isn't enough to make me double-dip at full-price. I think that might be the same for a lot of die-hard Nintendo fans, especially because of the pandemic and the effect it's had on all of our wallets. It could also be a sign of Pikmin fatigue. Not sure but I don't think it's ever been one of Nintendo's better-selling franchises.

Re: Animal Crossing Not Sated Your Life Sim Thirst? Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town Arrives Next March

DarthFoxMcCloud

So excited for this! I love that they added sprinklers...FINALLY!!! It was so hard to give those up when I started playing Friends of Mineral Town after playing Stardew Valley for so long. As this is a new game I hope the developers have added the ability for same-sex relationships. Since they were in FOMT on Switch, there's no reason not to include them in this new game so fingers crossed it's an option! Also really hoping they release a pre-order bonus stuffed animal like they have with past releases!

Re: Of Course Scalpers Are Already Listing Fire Emblem's 30th Anniversary Edition

DarthFoxMcCloud

Glad I was able to give the eBay scumbags the big middle finger by pre-ordering this Anniversary physical edition over the phone with EB Games Canada. If any other Canadian readers are having trouble finding online pre-orders (since places like Best Buy put their offerings up around 4am & sold out within a minute), try calling your local EB and secure a $0 pre-order over the phone. They'll do it for you (it's in their inventory as Fire Emblem 30th Anniversary NSW).

Re: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Switch eShop File Size Revealed

DarthFoxMcCloud

This is going to be a ridiculously, unnecessarily difficult release to get our hands on (I'm referring to the limited collector's edition). Nintendo seems to once again have made a pitifully small amount. Nintendo really treats their loyal fans terribly. They make so few and then retailers like Best Buy Canada launch their online pre-orders at 4am and they're all bought up by eBay bot scum. I'm just lucky I was able to secure a pre-order over the phone through EB Games Canada. All of this would be alleviated if Nintendo would just go back to the time when they made enough collector editions for people to reasonably get their hands on it rather than spend weeks hitting refresh on various websites in the hopes you can beat the eBay trash-bags of humanity.

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

DarthFoxMcCloud

@SwitchForce Criticizing Nintendo for their incompetence doesn’t make me a troll. The fact is their poor excuse for a website took 24-48hrs to register the purchase of the game. Add on top of that, COVID caused delays in the physical game being shipped to me on time. So I did all of the other My Nintendo “missions” like I was supposed to but because of circumstances beyond my control I lost out. This could have been fixed if Nintendo had made the game registration instant, taken in to account shipping delays by making the pins available at a later date, and by making enough pins to satisfy demand. What should have been a fun celebration of Mario has turned in to yet another failure that turns people off of Nintendo. Maybe before blindly following Nintendo off a cliff like a lemming, you could stop and think about things critically (I know that’s a huge imposition for a 5 year old born in the age of Twitter but do better).

Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift

DarthFoxMcCloud

I wish I could sue Nintendo for the fact that they never seem to learn their lessons when it comes to fan celebrations and limited time offerings. Those stupid Super Mario pins, I really wanted them. But of course it's COVID and my game was delayed by the courier (even though I pre-ordered the first day you could). And then it took almost 48 hours for the website to register the game card and give me access to try to get the pins but of course by then it was too late. Nintendo is run by such incompetent people, it's amazing they're still in business. They always underestimate demand for these kinds of things & only ever make maybe 5 for an entire country. Through no fault of my own, I missed out. If Nintendo were any other company, they'd have long-since been put out of business.

Re: Soapbox: Mario And Zelda Were Great, But GoldenEye Really Switched Me On To Nintendo

DarthFoxMcCloud

The N64 was also my first Nintendo home console. Up to that point, I had only a Game Boy and Game Boy Color because my parents didn't want to eat up a television for video games. But we eventually got a small tv (with a VCR built in) for the upstairs rec room and then I was able to get an N64. I loved that console. Technically GoldenEye did receive a remake/update for the Wii although it definitely didn't have the same charm or nostalgia factor as the original N64 cartridge.

Re: Stardew Valley Is Getting A Glorious Physical Switch Release, And Pre-Orders Are Now Open

DarthFoxMcCloud

Probably my most-favourite and most-played game on the Switch. I’m actually rather sad I bought it on day 1 it was available on the eShop because I would have loved getting my hands on the collector’s edition. Just can’t justify the price, especially since everyone I know already has Stardew as well, can’t just give the game to someone else. And I don’t really have the space for all the collectibles. Still the nerd impulse-buyer in me really wants this!

Re: Soapbox: Forget Terraforming And Crafting, 'Island Hopping' Is The Best Thing About Animal Crossing: New Horizons

DarthFoxMcCloud

The problem with New Horizons is you can go hard and play the game nonstop since the game released and now you're in a situation where the game is downright boring. I have 10 villagers so I no longer see any new villager prospects outside of randoms showing up at the Campsite or by scanning in my limited number of amiibo in to the game. All of the recurring events are just dishing out items and prizes that I already have so what's the point in participating again? When new updates hit, the content is enjoyable and new for all of a couple hours. And then it goes back to being boring. I wish Nintendo would take a bit more of a community approach, hosting online events that involve people working together and different items could be made available instead of just the same old same old like the bug events and fishing tourney's keep giving. I'm really hoping seasonal events like Halloween and Toy Day end up being more in-depth and engaging than the really lacklustre Stamp Rally we had in the museum. I feel like New Leaf didn't get this boring this quickly but New Horizons has been a downright slog and boring AF after the initial launch weeks (and again outside those couple of hours after updates go live).

Re: Red And Green Voted Most Popular Pokémon Games In Japanese Poll

DarthFoxMcCloud

Pokemon Red and Yellow hold special places in my heart as my first Pokemon games ever. By extension, Let's Go Pikachu was great because it was pure nostalgia with great visuals, plus I really liked the Pokéball Plus. But I think Gold and Silver topped the originals in every way & I'm really hoping they get a Let's Go remake!

Re: Talking Point: Have You Missed E3 This Year?

DarthFoxMcCloud

I miss the spectacle of E3. It's fun to have a few days straight of online content that we can watch, from Keynotes to Directs to broadcasts like the Nintendo Directs and Treehouse Live. This year has been a real bummer, and we are desperate for new content, any new content just to help us get through the days.

Re: Story Of Seasons: Friends Of Mineral Town Has Already Sold 100,000 Copies On Switch (North America)

DarthFoxMcCloud

I do love this game, I've been getting the hang of it but I will say that first spring season is almost a write-off. I am happy they added same-sex marriage to the game, I'm currently courting Gray & Brandon but likely going with Gray. Who wouldn't want to marry a cute blacksmith? LOL! I just don't like how quick the time goes in the game, feels even quicker than it does in Stardew Valley. Honestly not sure why they couldn't just let the time run slower, get more done each day or have the ability to relax and play at own speed. These games are supposed to be relaxing but I had the same issue with Stardew, and it didn't become relaxing until several in-game years had passed and most of my day became automated. But in FOMT it's just constant go-go-go-go-go & with the severely limited stamina, it's hard to get anything done (even after getting 3 power berries it's still difficult). That criticism aside though, it's still a cute game with adorable visuals and character interactions & I'm glad I picked it up.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

DarthFoxMcCloud

I’m 100% about consumer choice, never one way or the other. Give us both. Personally also all of the criticisms in the article about a digital-only future are concerns I share. I like getting some games digitally for the sheer convenience (I’m thinking about Animal Crossing here....pop in real quick and do my daily tasks & then go play something else) without having to change my cartridge but there are some games I may want to trade in some day or some games that are too massive for the internal storage or some games that both my husband and I want to play but don’t want to buy two copies of. There’s far more benefits to physical media than drawbacks so I think a mix of both is the best of both worlds and satisfies the most number of people. Not to mention all of the jobs that would be lost if we completely transitioned to digital-only future. It’s not like western countries are adding any new manufacturing jobs. Some areas, retail is the ONLY option for employment. Digital only takes away those jobs.

Re: Nintendo Responds To Cancellation Of E3 2020, Says It Will Consider "Various Ways" To Engage With Fans

DarthFoxMcCloud

So I don't really see the issue for Nintendo. I'm sure they already have their E3 Direct filmed...or planned out and they can do that from their own HQ in Japan with various voice-overs for other languages like they always do. As for the Treehouse livestreams, no reason why these couldn't be done for Nintendo America HQ and if they're doing any co-presentations with other studios, then those studios could also contribute their parts digitally either live or in pre-recorded sessions. Basically one big Skype livestream, HAHA. These things can be done no problem.

Re: The End Of An Era: E3 2020 Is Officially Cancelled

DarthFoxMcCloud

This sucks. My city has already cancelled it's spring Comic Con and now we've lost E3 livestreams. Nothing nerdy and fun for me this summer. That will make May & June so boring at work. Hopefully companies will still issue Directs and things like that to help fill the gap.

Re: Limited Run Announces Tiny Metal Physical Compilation For Switch, Pre-Orders Open This Friday

DarthFoxMcCloud

Haven't played this game in a while but I'm not going to double dip as I already have the digital. It's an ok game but it's just so annoying that every map is Fog of War and sometimes it switches from Japanese to English dialogue. I'd prefer it if they either went all English or all Japanese and/or gave us the option to switch languages. I'm still waiting for Intelligent Systems to offer a new, full proper Advance Wars sequel for Switch. Fingers crossed they take a couple years off Fire Emblem and focus on Advance Wars. I love Fire Emblem but it's been done to death the last few years. Let that series sit idle for a little while so it's not just more same-old same-old and focus on Advance Wars. That series is definitely due for a comeback!

Re: Nintendo Switch SNES Controllers Are Back In Stock In "Limited Quantity" (Europe)

DarthFoxMcCloud

Always preferred this one to the SNES design we got in North America. Too bad we couldn't order these in Canada. Oh well, I did get the North American SNES Switch Online controller when it went back on sale a couple weeks ago so at least I have it. Good luck for everyone who wants this, hope you get it! It feels great in the hand and playing SNES Switch Online games with it just feels right!

Re: Katie Casper Resigns From Her Position At Nintendo Of America "After Nearly Six Years"

DarthFoxMcCloud

If I was lucky enough to work for Nintendo, I don't think I'd ever leave. It's too amazing of a workplace. Even if all I was doing was working at the Nintendo Store, I don't think I'd ever want to leave. I guess I also don't understand the whole changing careers thing. Jobs are so hard to come by these days. Sure my current position isn't the most fulfilling but it pays the rent, allows me to buy Nintendo games, and it offers some financial stability. I wouldn't just walk away from it unless I absolutely had to. Hopefully she finds something else and in the meantime, Nintendo....I'm available & I'm exceptionally loyal!

Re: Introducing Dongii, The Dinkiest Nintendo Switch Dock We Ever Did See

DarthFoxMcCloud

@mandlecreed Exactly, I've only ever used the official dock that came with my Switch and I've sunk some pretty long hours with graphically intense games on the television. My Switch has never overheated and I've never even heard the fans running (I hear them more when playing in handheld). I trust the official dock over any third party, especially with the bricking issue. Wasn't that caused by a Switch firmware not communicating correctly with third party accessories? At least with first party, you know things are tested to work properly.

Re: Nintendo Named And Shamed As Benefiting From The Use Of Chinese Forced Labour Camps

DarthFoxMcCloud

Products might have been more expensive back in the day but you can't deny that when the West was engaged in manufacturing, people could afford houses and support their families with factory jobs. And we had and continue to HAVE the highest labour standards and unions stood up for the rights of workers. Then the West threw contract after contract to China and now we have inferior products that break the moment the warranty runs out, and a return to forced labour camps with zero labour & environmental protections. Why do we continue to do business with this country? It's time that Western countries took back our manufacturing jobs.

Re: Here's All The New Info And Tidbits From Today's Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct

DarthFoxMcCloud

Wishing we got more info on the post office functionality inside the airport. I'd like to know if we can send post cards and gifts to our friends through Nintendo Switch Online without first having to travel to their island or if we have to travel to their island before we can send the letter (like we had to do in New Leaf). They weren't that clear with explaining that. All they said was we could send letters to "residents" so does that mean just those living on our own Island? I hope not, I really want an fully functioning in-game postal office where I can send a postcard and/or present to anybody on my Friend List from MY post office and they they receive it through the internet the next time they boot up the game.

Re: Nintendo Reveals NookLink, A Companion Mobile App For Animal Crossing: New Horizons

DarthFoxMcCloud

In the Direct it's shown the post office is now located inside the Airport and you can send postcards to "residents." But do you think that's also where you could send a message to a friend with a copy of the game and have it sent through Nintendo Switch Online (instead of having to travel to their Island and sending the message from their own "post office" like we've had to do in other AC games)? I wish Nintendo had been a bit more specific on that post office functionality.

Re: News On Nintendo Switch SNES Controller Stock Expected This Month (North America)

DarthFoxMcCloud

This controller is a joke and if it does become available again this month, it'll likely be at the 11th hour on the last day of the month...just like January. And then we'll see a message that says "Check back in March 2020 for more information." And knowing Nintendo this pattern will repeat every month for the remainder of the year. I can't believe they can't actually keep these things in stock. Somebody should lose their job over this because it's just complete gross negligence at this point.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Will Support The Switch Online Smartphone App

DarthFoxMcCloud

I'd love it if the NSO app allowed us to send/receive Able Sisters designs QR codes, given the Switch doesn't have a camera built-in I think this is perfect. Plus I'm fine with the app being used for voice chat as well. I have AirPods and that works great. I just put one in my ear at a time and when it starts to die, I swap for the other one and put the dead one back in the charging case. That way I constantly have a wireless headset ready to go. I would also love some kind of notification system running through the NSO app where I could write a letter in Animal Crossing and drop it off in my post office to be sent to someone through Nintendo Switch Online on my friend list and have it arrive in their mailbox (without first having to visit their island) and then they also get a notification on their phone through the NSO app to tell them they've received mail. I think that would be really fun and cool, if Nintendo bothered to put in the programming effort.

Re: Grab Animal Crossing: New Horizons With One Of Your Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers

DarthFoxMcCloud

I'm in Canada, used one voucher already back in the summer for Mario Maker 2. Been holding on to my second one specifically for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Glad the vouchers are good for 365 days, my second one won't expire until July 2020. So I'm good. You might want to clear that up Nintendo Life. Your article above makes it seem like North Americans can't use their vouchers anymore but if you're like me and have held on to one or more since the summer, they're still valid!
